Nah not everywhere plus when commiting crime you do see some npcs making call before the police arrives. You are clearly speaking as though you never played the game. Police behaves realistically in 4&5 unlike the 3D Cops that just spawn to your location and disappear after getting shot
And made other interiors GTA 4 made unenterable enterable like tattoo shops, barber's saloon, garages, vehicle customization stores and police stations 😊
@@Kratos-el3wo kinda sad most interiors have typical rockstar handholding, like locking you to slow walk and not allowing guns, not allowed to have silly fun. I remember shooting up and holding down the hospital in gta 4 for hours lmao. haven't found a spot like that in gta 5 yet
The biggest disappointment from gta 5 was all the buildings being fake wich made the map empty and boring once you finish the story you had nothing to do but drive around

With your point about npcs its irelevant to this comment and it isn't even impressive because of course it would have better npc spawns its has better technology because it was made later, yet in previous games they had more features where repeating npcs came as a sacrifice. Its embarassing a game from 2004 and 2008 where one was on a complete different system generation has better details more features and things to do than a game thats been updated still to this day since 2013 and been upgraded through 3 generations, stop defending gta5...
@@RJ_200 exactly its the truth gta 5 single player was empty no fun things to do other then drive around and blow up things, lets hope gta 6 will be better but I have a feeling they will focus all the content for the online anyways
Actually there’s a good reason for the lack of interiors in GTA V, most interiors are mission only, like the Cluckin Bell Factory or the interior for Fame and Shame. Here’s the problem, you have all these interiors loaded up, and it slows down the game, and causes crashes. Remember this game was made for the XBOX 360 and PS3 back in 2013, and it was locked at 30 FPS, if having all interiors enabled causes slowdown for GTA V on PC and crashing. Then having all interiors available would’ve have made GTA V run a lot worse when it released.
@@Kyle29168GTA 4 had more interiors and that game was made for PS3 and XBOX 360, that would be because most interiors are just duplicates of one another (apartment block hallways for example).
My biggest complaint in GTA V is how shallow the world feels , despite being touted as biggest GTA map it felt smaller to me because 70% of map is just giant barren mountains and wide highways, and only driving back and forth between 2 points Sandy Shores and Los Santos. It would have been nice if they could add another City or made North Yankton accessible in free roam The lack of interiors also hurt the level of immersion , like we can't enter Burgershots, Hospitals, Apartments, Car Dealership etc or even the interiors that was present in Story Missions and locked in free roam like Martin Madrazos and Lester's house . If one thing I want in GTA VI is more detailed and accessible interiors I don't want another Huge Map of Nothingness

the worst part about the character switching for me is them changing outfits. Like I get it "they have their own lives and continue living them ooh so immersive" but like- I put them in that outfit for a reason? I hope 6 remedies this by making it so you can store outfits in your personal car's trunk or whatever so you can just quickly swap back to it
One thing that I hate is when you switch to Trevor, there's this one change sequence where he's getting chased by cops and you have to waste your time by trying to escape from them. ( Like bro I got missions to do, not this bs) He's possibly the worst to switch to for those exact reasons.
cause of exactly that. the ps3 and 360 we're very underpowered gta 4 showed that with the euphoria engine built into rage engine. that made gta 4 become an absolute nightmare on consoles especially on pc
Silly take. iV is superior in many ways…V is superior in just as many ways, it’s fair to say V was Rockstar moving laterally rather than stepping their game up but to say they took a step down and IV is the clear cut undisputed better game? That’s just silly and shows a clear bias towards IV

If the September 2022 leaks are anything to go by, Rockstar is definitely bringing crouching back, alongside being able to prone. RDR2 already brought back a ton of features from past games that were missing in GTA5
Never understood the obsession with crouching that isn’t stealth . Ever seen a movie or tv show ? They usually do what gta 5 does they hunch and move slowly they don’t fucking crouch 😂
@@PixelPigEntertainment lmao even still crouching was only used because in the 3D games you didn’t have a cover system and IV forgot to take that mechanic out. Playing while crouching is ridiculous might as well crawl that’d be better . Hell it would be better if they did crouch crawl and V’s stealth. That way you get all 3 movements
One of my gripes in gta 5 was the police system, in other games they'll use batons if you punch them or try to knock you on the ground which resulted in an immediate bust, but will shoot if you switch to a gun, in gta 4 they'll bust you if you stand still, but gta 5 doesn't do that unless it was intentional and it rarely happens because almost every time you get wanted they'll just shoot at you, it was also annoying how you're off the radar and one just spawns right in front of you even if no one's pursuing you.
You forgot the fact that the main protagonist is basically a magnet for police bullets. No matter how you run, twist, flip, or turn, they will always accurately shoot you and it's honestly annoying.

Regarding the police changes in gta 6, a reliable leaker said they will adapt the Rdr2 witness & wanted system. Meaning if youre committing a crime bfore without an npc spot you doing it, you will get away with it. Which is pretty nice change imo
I hated how in V if you punch and npc they will just die everytime. In gta iv they will be knocked out sleep and will eventually wake up and limp away lmao
I do the same. I never seem to have the same love for Trevor as most of the community. I am always frustrated because everytime I switch to Trevor he is always up sleeping on a mountain with a dress. And I always get caught in a wanted level and it is very difficult escaping from the cops in gta 5.
The fact that PS3 had 2 Gta games was so good. İ always felt like Gta 5 and Gta 4 are opposite of each other where Gta 4 is dark gritty more story driven with the best physics in the entire Gta and has less options for open world activites such as gyms getting haircuts.... etc and Gta 5 is more closer to san andreas once again its much more colorful and gives you freedom once again similar to san andreas.....
Yeah GTA 4 works best as a linear narrative story. The open world activities are fun, but truthfully the best way to play is to save all the strangers and freak missions for after you finish the story so the world doesn’t get boring too fast.
@@KyeCreates honestly if you ask me despite the lack of open world activities its still much more fun to mess in Gta 4 imo because of that games physic engine i love to drive in that game many people dont love Gta 4's driving mechanics beacuse its too slow and heavy but i love it the crashes and driving becomes so realistic and it creates so many different outcomes when you are in a police chase i never got that feeling from Gta 5's arcade driving mechanics.

I never got the whole special abilities thing because gta isn’t difficult and it’s designed for casuals. Some people on TikTok got pissy when I said this
Well the TikTok ppl probably got upset cause (1. They use TikTok. (2. With that logic you might as well call Red dead superhero games too because of the dead eye and eagle eye (animal tracking) systems in place. Rockstar was simply just trying to add more variety to the gameplay. You weren’t forced at all to use the special abilities. San Andreas had a much more fleshed out Role Playing system than GTA5. If u didn’t eat, u would lose weight and eventually starve to death. If u ate too much, u would gain tons of weight while also being much slower at climbing and running. If you used a certain gun a lot, u would gain experience for it and eventually gain hidden perks like faster reloading, faster fire rate, and even dual wielding. But does this make San Andreas an RPG? No. Because that isn’t what defines an RPG. Same thing with abilities and superhero games. Special abilities isn’t what defines a superhero game.
@@av7224 what I meant was special abilities doesn’t belong in gta. Red dead I don’t mind since you are playing as a gunslinger and the guns in that game do a lot of damage. The special abilities in gta 5 make it where the game feels too easy, there are no consequences for car crashes, not taking cover when shooting etc
@@gflippa7017 The abilities were a welcome choice to try and give a perk towards each character and give them a unique gameplay trait. I agree that Trevors rage was essentially a GOD MODE ability and was't a good thing in hindsight, but Michael's background of being a skilled shooter (being able to slow time to focus on shots similar to RDRs mechanics) and Franklin being a skilled driver (being able to do the same thing but with driving) were good add ons imo. The thing about those abilities is, you didn't HAVE TO use them aside from the missions they were introduced.
I really really love the satire Rockstar could take from Los Angeles. Silicon Valley, fake people, fake everything is so interesting to me. NYC just isn’t fucked up enough to have that level of satire.
1 - World feels small and empty because there is only 1 city, a tons of mountains with nothing 2 - Police system is worse as you said 3 - The physics are extremely annoying. Your character gives up on living and falls like a doll, it happens a lot 4 - Lack of varied activities 5 - The story is too nonsensical, you barely have time to meet other characters and have any kind of bond with them, you don't have time to get used to a neighborhood (you skip them too fast), most story missions are extremely exaggerated
You gotta remember gta 4 and 5 were on the same generation so they had the same hardware. 4 was meant to maximize the physics and 5 was meant for graphics. I wish they just waited to release gta 5 on the next gen so they could take full advantage of the hardware. They did update the graphics but the physics and features are too complicated to completely rework.
That's exactly right, the hardware at the time just couldn't do both. The bones of the game are still from that 2013 version. They were pretty much locked in with it. RDR2 brought pretty much all of it back. It had the graphics and the physics down pretty well, but it's still held back by the original Xbox One. Something I really loved about GTA 5 was how at the start of the game, each protagonist had their own lifes and separate set of missions. For example Franklin being with Lamar, Michael with his family and Trevor with Ron & Wade. I enjoyed it because it felt like I could actually connect with each character since they had their own unique issues. However later in the game most missions involved all 3 characters together, which at first it felt nice seeing all 3 protagonists helping each other, but later it got tiring how the majority of missions ended up being like that to the point it started to feel like the game was only about 1 protagonist with little incentive to change between each protagonist since all 3 shared the same missions.
We all would've appreciated GTA V a lot more if they didn't milk it for 3 console generations straight. The map was good enough for it's time and was definitely an improvement over the GTA IV map, but after all these years and progression in video games today, you really notice how flawed the map is. One thing I hope is that GTA 6 will be successful enough for Rockstar to be able to hire a dedicated team for online content so they can continue milking online while being able to make new games every few years like they used to. 7:48 I have to disagree with this point. Trevor is actually a fairly complex character who might even have the most character development out of anyone in the story. At least the most surprising character development. At first glance he is what you described, but as the story goes on you learn what drove him to be this way, and how in reality Micheal is more of the scumbag and Trevor is more of a loyal friend. I think the story would be much worse without Trevor’s involvement and actually would be very cliche. Part of V’s story was to sort of poke holes into cliches, they even mention multiple times that Micheal and Franklin are walking cliches. Trevor on the other hand is the very opposite of that. He represents a person acting on all the horrible things a GTA player has fun doing. I think he is a great character. I do agree that V bit off a slight bit more than it could chew, and I think Online was part of that problem. If V got story dlc’s like planned these characters would’ve been much more fleshed out, which IV did a much better job of with its protagonists since each had their own game.
Why did it take so long for everyone to admit GTA V wasn't all that? Maybe because of the new upcoming GTA 6. I have a PS5 and i have both GTA V and red dead... I completed RDR2 but have not made it through 30% of GTA v. Just don't appeal to me much

Sincerely, Ending A is what I would choose immersing myself in Michael's and Franklin's shoes in that situations (as you said T is a protagonist i'm not meant to identify with), only that i choose this ending and the game punishes me limiting the interactions, as if Frank openly did a bad thing and Michael didn't choose to actively be a part of it. Ending B makes totally no sense whatsoever it's just fully out of character, wraps up no loose ends and leads to nowhere.
Well, from a story standpoint, I'd argue Ending A is the "Bad Ending" and Ending B is the "Good Ending", with of course, Ending C being the Best/Canon ending. Ending A has us kill Trevor. Which considering who he is, in any other game would be the best possible outcome. But I just can't bring myself to say that killing Trevor is good. It means that Franklin literally gives up any sense of loyalty and becomes Michael, someone who fucked over and robbed everyone around him just to get with people who hate him, living in an empty house with no purpose in life. Also, while Michael can be the one to kill Trevor, it makes sense that he doesn't want to interact with Franklin afterwards. In retrospect, it could of been him behind that gun. He's now dealing with someone who has the power to do to him what he tried doing to Trevor all those years ago. Ending B has us kill Michael, which feels wrong on paper, but makes sense. Michael's motto from the get-go was to kill, fuck over, and survive. In Ending A, he says the quote "Surviving is winning, everything else is bullshit" (One of Ned Luke's favorite quotes, just as a fun fact). And while it's not intentional, in the game we can see Michael using Franklin. When Franklin talked to Michael about the fact Devin Weston robbed them of the payment of the cars, Michael insisted that Devin was smart and they were getting paid eventually, only because Michael was working with Solomon by that point (before Devin fucked that up). Franklin in the mission "I Fought the Law", as the trio was racing, literally comments on how Michael ended up getting Franklin to do the same thing that he'd be doing without Michael - Taking cars, racing them, giving them to a questionable business man, getting little to no pay. It makes sense why Franklin would want to kill Michael, even if Michael had gotten him more money than he could dream of. And by the ending of Ending B, we see that Franklin took Trevor's lessons to heart, calling up Lamar and asking to hang out as they haven't done much recently. Franklin ends up with Trevor's loyalty, instead of becoming like Michael. Ending C has us save both Michael and Franklin. This obviously has us tie up the loose ends that is the main bad guys, but there's more sense to it. Franklin throughout the whole game has complained about him doing what others tell him, and he's tried of it. He'll go through everything he can to make his own choices for once. Ending C isn't us having a good ending for the sake of having a good ending, it's proving that Franklin isn't just Michael or Trevor, he's his own person. He learned the best lessons both of them had to offer and he finally got above the people who were above him, while staying true to himself and his friends. Yeah, two month old comment, I know. But I'm just obsessed with this game right now and saw this as a good reason to info dump about the story of the game.

I feel like GTA 5 was pretty shallow too. When I play a game, I rate the story by how much of an impact it has on me. GTA 4 made me tear up a bit at some moments, or made me feel really sad and a bit frightened, for example when Niko talked about his past with Faustin's wife. Even Cyberpunk, a game where I didn't expect it at all, made me actually cry multiple times, and I think most of it was because characters who you had connection with and knew them for the span of the entire game, seeing them die or be depressed after the main character offed himself was just really sad. I felt none of that in GTA 5. No one important even dies there, there are no consequences for anything.. Even when Michael was captured I was like well.. He's gonna live anyways. I thought at one point Lamar will die but even he survived lol, so even though the gameplay and missions were really fun, that was basically it. After you're done with the game you can't think about it. I honestly don't know if the purpose is to make the story the most cliche American Hollywood movie script ever, but if that was it, then they nailed it. The only issue is that Hollywood movies are not a good inspiration for good stories.. Lots of special effects and action, but shallow as a puddle (I also want to throw this in) I feel like 2 protagonists for GTA 6 is way to go too, and Rockstar made really really good decision by making them a couple, since that's the closest you get for having a variety, but also because the characters are already connected between each other, it's more like you played one character. Basically the story can be more deeper and the world feel more immersive, rather than if you had 2 characters from completely different social backgrounds and from the other sides of the state, who at the beginning don't even know each other.
I don’t think every games story needs to have an impact, however everything about the map, activities and so on were a step back from previous titles as it became shallow after you completed the game making very boring upon replay’s.
@@Skye2993 tbh the game was kinda shallows as a whole (compared to GTA 4 or GTA SA) there isn't single enterable fast food, hospital, hanging out with friends is good for pretty much nothing and has no value, the only thing that I liked about that system is that they occasionally called you to ask for help, which I think only ever happened to Michael also.. as for the impact, you're absolutely right not every story needs to have one, but for me it changes the story from just another shallows action game, to a game that's actually has some value for me and I'd like to replay it. for the entire 10 years I only played and finished GTA 5 once, and then I just turned back to older GTAs. GTA SA I must have finished like 10 times at least because, despite the story not being really deep either, the map is much more than diverse, open, characters are more enjoyable and playing as CJ feels more immersive because you actually do watch him change from poor guy to a millionaire, and there were some good plottwists as well, like one of your closest friend's betraying you. GTA 5 in comparison feels so bland and predictable. anyways enough ranting, but I hope you do see my pov. I sure see yours tho, everyone has a different taste, and thus, hopefully GTA 6 will suit taste of both of us :!
The entire plot of GTA 4 is about Niko who comes to America to look for a guy who betrayed him and starts working for every bad person in liberty city to make money that he can't spend and killing people. Yes that's the plot, oversimplified as you did to GTA 5. San Andreas plot is inferior to both 4 and 5. The plot is about Cj who comes back from liberty city and realizes that their Territory is taken over by ballas and starts shooting them till Big Smoke and Ryder betrays them for no reason and then has to work for everyone in the whole of San Andreas. The plot becomes nonsense and a superman story of a gangster becoming a pilot that shoots down airforce in the Sky. GTA 4 plot is inferior to 5. Roman's constant invites to go bowling get annoying real quick. Like, we're in the middle of a crime-ridden city, and he's all about bowling. Niko comes to America with knowledge that the American dream is vein and regrets his actions at war but starts killing for little Jacob who he doesn't know before. Why would he kill for him if he regretted his actions for war. He turns to hitman taking out every job from everyone. The pacing is off. One minute, you're dealing with serious mob stuff, and the next, you're chasing someone through the city for no apparent reason. The story is just all over the place. I don't want to kill people and the first thing you do is kill a guy you just met for hitting on your cousins woman. Then it's 10 more hours of you killing people. The story is okay but nowhere close to being a masterpiece like you hype it to be. Better stories have been told in gaming like The he Witcher 3, The Last Of Us, God Of War, Red Dead Redemption 2 and more. The characters are generally either shallow and extremely annoying people driven by ambition and greed or villains who are one-dimensionally assholish and therefore boring, or characters written to supposedly be deep and complex, but said depth and complexity aren't that good because they're not really very interesting despite it all. I just stop caring after a while, and move on. There's this cutscene where Niko said that he was trying to escape the life of crime but that is contradicted by what he had been doing throughout the game. This is the last dude i'm gonna kill I fuckin swear, I am sooo done with this - and then every mission involved gunning down waves of faceless enemies. Every single mission is "Drive to the place, kill the bad guys, lose wanted level or a tail, Mission Accomplished. Now back to GTA 5 story, saying it's not amazing simply proves my point that you never played the game and just nitpicking stuff. GTA 5 begins with a prologue where 3 criminals take on a heist where Brad and Michael gets shot and Trevor escapes. This already lays the foundation that they are bank robbers and then in another cutscene, we see a burial and Michael watching his own funeral from a distance and it flashforwards to 9 years later and Michael is now a rich guy and family man who is heavily depressed. We have a cutscene where he has a conversation with his therapist where he kinda laments that he misses his crime days while denying that and that's the actual truth about an habit, it doesn't just go away, like in GTA 4 where the game tries to tell a message about morals and the missions totally opposing everything the story stands for. The camera angle shifts to Franklin and Lamar who are street's hustlers and members of a gang called the families. Franklin's and Michael's life intersect and they take on a heist which is announced on Tv and Trevor finds out that his best friend had faked his death all along because of Michael's dialogue to the guard guy and then comes back for Michael but they end up hugging in out even though it keeps causing them to quarrel frequently along the line and Franklin becoming the peacemaker. It introduces characters from Michael and Trevor past like Lester as they plan to take on their biggest heist ever, the big one. The narrative unfolds as Michael, lured back into a life of crime, teams up with Franklin and Trevor for a series of increasingly ambitious heists. Along the way, they navigate a complex web of criminal alliances and personal conflicts. The plot takes unexpected twists, revealing government involvement, personal betrayals, and moral dilemmas. Michael's troubled family life, Franklin's quest for success, and Trevor's volatile nature add layers to the story. As the characters confront their pasts and face the consequences of their actions, the narrative weaves a tale of crime, redemption, and the blurred lines between right and wrong. The story explores themes of greed, betrayal, and the pursuit of the American Dream, providing a gritty and satirical look at contemporary society. Yet you say Trevor is irrelevant to the story, man shut up, you never played the game. I still don't want to spoil much about the plot like how they come to work for characters like Devin because of those who haven't played the game yet but i would if you keep pushing this argument forward. The game leaves a message that chasing materialistic life would leave you empty not some contradicting pretentious American dream in a nutshell. Now about GTA online, I never said it's the greatest game of all time, it's an addition of activities to do if you want to keep playing GTA 5. I played it and enjoyed it but the moment I got a house and car, there was less motivation to continue and I move on. Millions of people still play it till this day and have fun and that's just personally dependent on how you are playing the game. The game never forces you to spend money, you do that if you want to level up real quick rather than following the normal procedure. If you think someone shooting a launcher at you in the map while going on a mission isn't fun then I guess you never played San Andreas either or have a weird knowledge about the meaning of fun. That made riding through the map very fun while trying to avoid being shot and only griefers find this bad like what else could you do in the map you've explored a million times in the story mode? The game helped me make some friends from other countries and yes GTA online is not bad in anyway, it's not better than the story mode to me personally but it's definitely not bad and if you don't like it, that's your opinion not that of the majority of folks who still play the game till this day. GTA 5 didn't make over 6 billion dollars if it was a bad game. There's a reason why people moved over to 5 and abandoned 4 because 4 was a disappointment coming from San Andreas in many possible ways even though it did improve at some point. Move on after finishing a game and stop being a toxic fanboy who can't accept reality. I used to believe GTA 4 was underappreciated but lately it's probably the most overrated game of the franchise especially on TH-cam.
My theory as to why that is, is that Rockstar thought once players are done with story mode, they'll move on to online mode and stay there, so who cares about the story. And they probably made the story as shallow as possible so that players will stick with online mode instead. I'm betting maybe in GTA 8 or so on, we won't even be getting a story mode anymore or maybe there will be a story mode, but it will be online, like a MMORPG game.
My biggest gripe with GTA V is that compared to Niko and Roman, you don't get a lot of genuine human interaction about how the main character is feeling in a uniquely human way. In GTA 4, when you finish a mission sometimes you could call Roman(and other characters including kate) and talk to them about it and these wouldn't be simple 1 liners or jokes they would be 2 people such as niko and roman debating intricate details of things going on in the world, and that made it feel so alive. And this wasn't just 1 or 2 missions, there's a ton of them where you can call people and get extra dialogue and hear their opinions or just hang out and have a conversation that actually correlates to the things going on. I absolutely loved that and the relationship between Niko and Roman was so interesting because there's some really dark things that Niko has lied to Roman about and you can read about it in the emails(roman never learned how his mom actually died because Niko told him a lie to protect him just for example) and just every little detail compounds into really learning about who Niko is specifically and the traumas and tribulations he's faced in his life leading up to GTA 4 shines a huge light on why Niko is on this path and why he is the way he is. I also despise that they've chosen a canon ending for 4 because i honestly believe they chose the wrong one. The ending where Roman dies is just so much more impactful and meaningful and hurts once you get to know the characters and i feel like we got maybe 1/10th of that in 5 in comparison. Like it honestly feels like we got robbed of a deeper grittier story full of meaning just to appeal to a broader audience, and then single player got completely shafted for new content because take 2 is a terrible company.
I can say I was definitely disappointed with GTAV because of GTAIV. I was expecting it to be IV with a fresh coat of paint and a new story, but it was a different game. The only reason I’m pumped for VI is because it’s in my state
Yeah, that was my initial reaction. I was disappointed by the physics of NPCs and Cars and it was a downgrade from IV. However, the game was fun at release because GTA IV felt like you were locked in a tiny city and barely anything to do then GTA V came and fixed that. It was a breath of fresh air and you actually had the freedom to explore whether its downtown Los Santos or somewhere in the mountains on a dirt bike. GTA IV might've had less freedom but it felt like a fun sandbox that you can experiment and play with the physics because it was so satisfying. If they can manage to give us the same freedom that San Andreas and GTA V both offered while offering the same physics and driving from GTA IV while expanding and making the game better, then that would be amazing.
GTA 4 is the real disappointment. You can't even talk to NPCs in GTA or at least respond to their comments like San Andreas. GTA 4 had duplicate NPCs although you barely see them together unlike GTA 5. I don't care about the damn combos, fighting NPCs in GTA 4 is boring because they just don't die. You can't have haircuts, tatoos, swim underwater or customize your vehicle like GTA 5 and San Andreas. The game removed the only good stuff from San Andreas for what? To bump out of your car when you slightly hit a poe. Oh spare me this nonsense, GTA 4 doesn't compare to San Andreas or 5. GTA 5 has the best single player story. GTA 4 story overall sounds good but how it plays out in the game is bad plus the very repititive missions. Go to point A, shootout rinse and repeat. At least San Andreas begining had cinematic missions which still didn't compare to any of GTA 5 heist.
@@iammiller5478based on everything u just said I can tell u wasn’t old enough to play gta 4😂nobody said anything about it being wayy better then 5 other then it’s realistic rag doll physics and the fact that the map didn’t just contain wide empty spaces that were useless like 5 did even with 5 supposedly having the biggest map.
@@fordgtcar110 GTA 4s physics, absolutley... GTA4s driving, I hope to god they don't go back to that awful system. I get that it was more "realistic" but every vehicle feels like it weighs multiple tons and has the turn radius of a semi truck. GTA5s driving was made to feel more arcade like due to how much the overall reviews hated GTA4s driving. Sure, they should tone the arcade styling down and add back some more "realistic" physics but being still more towards GTA5s driving than 4s.
As someone who played GTA V since its launch it has some problems that made me resent it more than other GTA titles: The Story missions are a fake advertisement of what the world of Los Santos really is with constant scripted events during them that make it feel more alive meanwhile the AI is braindead most of the time and interiors that are of exclusive access in certain missions The map is 90% empty, almost all buildings of Los Santos are just points of reference that the player can’t interact in any way and Blaine County is just an empty area with two towns being the furthest one the most uninteresting by far. Not even the open desert and the forest areas can be of good use due to how small they are The police system is a huge stepback from GTA IV, since it is an annoyance to get rid of, crimes seem to be reported by telepathic messages since you can get a wanted level in the middle of nowhere and cops just engage police brutality even if you just have a single star Physics and the vehicle mechanics are just janky, ragdoll is not as satisfying as in GTA IV, the driving is too much on the arcade side, air vehicles are made of nitroglycerin since any crash lead them to explosions and damage mechanics in cars were ok but now with first person camera the roofs cant be damaged so you just can turn a car into a box with wheels rather than a banana like in last gen And of course how Rockstar milked this game for 10 years. Videos like this wouldn’t be so relevant if R* didn’t drag this game like it their masterpiece which just made its flaws 10 times worse and more noticeable
I think the biggest turnoff in the game for me is the police , that thing you mentioned about them being always aware of where you are hiding just sucks the fun out of the game so much, if you start a rampage for fun you gotta make peace with the fact you're probably gonna be sent to the hospital and lose a bit of money (which is actually a lot of money if you're early enough in the game to spend the 5k on the hospital but still not be rich) instead of feeling like a boss and making an escape the infinitely respawning choppers that are always conveniently above you even if you're in the middle of nowhere are also SUPER annoying
@@rustcohle479 you assume I sat down to watch an 11 minute video about a game I don't even play, make a comment critiquing something about it and I'm the one trolling?
I installed some mods to make my GTAV a lot closer to GTAIV in certain aspects. Some of these mods were - euphoria physics overhaul - makes it similar to GTAIV in terms of the physics - car deformation mod - similar level of car deformation as seen in GTAIV - IV style exit vehicle - hold button to turn engine off, car stays running otherwise - shoot weapons out of hands mod - something that could be done in GTAIV but not in vanilla GTAV - push mod - the ability to push peds like in GTAIV Some other mods that really enhanced the experience for me were also - police dispatch overhaul mod - makes it so someone HAS to call the police for you to get a wanted level, no more being wanted by shooting someone in the middle of a forest and many other adjustments to the police system, including option to have the army come after you at 5 stars - car handling rework - mostly increases the top speed of cars that should have a higher top speed. In the vanilla game all cars are limited to < 120mph which is ridiculous for some of the supercars. Driving is a LOT more fun when you can actually hit 200mph+ in many of the cars - supersonic jets - similar to the above mod but for jets. With this mod you can hit 1000+ mph in jets. This does mean that you fly over the entire map in seconds though. Includes a sonic boom and afterburner sound effects too - open all interior mods - all interiors used for missions and optionally also Online interiors too become available in singleplayer free roam. There are more than 50 interiors that this mod unlocks that are otherwise inaccessible - refined weapons mod - many great adjustment to the weapons, including actual bullet travel time, new sound effects, some optional limits on ammo capacity so you can't just have 10000 rounds of every ammo type, overall improved shooting I'm forgetting a bunch more but with these mods the experience of playing GTAV was a lot better than vanilla and it brought back many things I enjoyed in GTAIV
I hope GTA 6 is like the GTA San Andreas of the HD Universe which was the final third most largest GTA game of the 3D Universe that was packed full of activities to do, more enterable interiors, and 3 major cities to explore from a game released in 2004. So if GTA 5 was a downgrade, I hope they can make GTA 6 the upgrade fans have been wishing for a very long time.
GTA 5 was a downgrade after bringing back every feature removed from 4 like haircut, salon, tattoo shops, vehicle customization, planes, working beaches, underwater, talking to NPCs,more details like clothes getting wet in water. Best missions in the franchise??? Stop being delusional friend
@@thechosenone2123 the yoga mission is the only bad mission in the game yet much funnier hearing the conversation with Amanda and Fabian and it was more fun than playing the entire zero missions from San Andreas, the noe mission, the airplane school missions, the repititive return to los santos gang wars. Or the GTA 4 bleed out, hostile negotiation, out of commission, the drug delivery missions or the entire side activities of lets go bowling, still better than the espresso 2 go of GTA 3, the entire luigi missions, the demolition man from vice city, the entire asset missions and many more. Plus you ignore the fact that no missions in GTA history so far comes close to the big score, the jewel store job, bureau raid, the Paleto score, hood safari, derailed, minor turbulence and not to forget the FACT THAT THE FIRST MISSION /OPENING HEIST IN GTA 5 IS BETTER THAN THE THREE LEAF A CLOVER FROM GTA 4 WHICH HAPPENS TO BE THE BEST MISSION OF THAT GAME 💀💀💀
@@thechosenone2123 Three Leaf a clover is not better than the first heist in GTA 5 infact the vice city heist was better, you go in your pal Michael gets shot you blow the vought, shoot some LCP and move on. The first heist/opening of GTA 5 has more layers to it than GTA 4. 1. **Introduction**: The game begins with a robbery in progress at a bank in North Yankton. The three protagonists, Michael Townley (later known as Michael De Santa), Trevor Philips, and Brad Snider, are seen fleeing from the scene of the crime. 2. **Flashback**: The story then jumps back nine years to 2004, where Michael, Trevor, and Brad are shown planning the heist. They are part of a crew led by another character named Steve Haines. The target is the Union Depository in Los Santos. 3. **Execution**: The crew executes the heist successfully, stealing millions of dollars in cash and escaping from the authorities. However, during the escape, a shootout occurs, resulting in the apparent death of Brad and Michael being shot. 4. **Betrayal**: It's revealed later in the game that Brad was killed during the heist, and Michael faked his death with the help of corrupt FIB agent Dave Norton. Trevor, unaware of Michael's survival and betrayal, believes both Brad and Michael were killed. 5. **Revelations**: Throughout the game, the events of the North Yankton Heist are revisited through flashbacks, shedding light on the complex relationships between the characters and the events that led to their current circumstances. 6. **Impact on the Story**: The North Yankton Heist serves as a crucial plot point in GTA 5, setting the stage for the conflicts and alliances that unfold between Michael, Trevor, and other characters throughout the game. I don't want to talk about the big score or Paleto score or the jewel store job
At least the physics returned in RDR2. It's heavier than RDR but balanced. In RDR all wagons were bouncing like lowriders when they're heavily damaged.

@@profanegunman7586 gta 5 is a Hollywood movie. At first, explosions are big and everything is shiny, but then you start noticing details, and see - all of that is not real, it's just a hollywood effects on cardboard cars and story.
Three protags was a massively flawed mechanic. First it was hardly used, sometimes it’s inexplicably unavailable. The game teaches early on you can drive, or shoot out the car at pursuers, but then later missions feature one driving and one shooting (Hood Safari, Fresh Meat etc) but you can’t switch. Like they forgot to implement it. Instead, in missions where it is available, the options tend to just be shoot over here, or shoot over there. Secondly, there is no difference to using them outside of the specials. I think they should have had exclusive weapons/vehicles to further differentiate them, air vehicles only available to Trevor etc. Spec ops weapons to Micheal etc Lastly, something I consider a glaring omission is the inability to switch during a hangout. A big part of GTA gameplay is free roam fun, and the switching was meant to be tied into the core of the game, but you can’t switch during hangouts to set up your own police pursuits and fights. After the story, switch goes from bad, to utterly pointless. Really what is the use of it then? This is supposed to be the major new addition to the game that evolves GTA fundamentally. Just a total waste, a mess, and seems like every critic overlooked how poorly thought out and redundant a system it is.
And they wouldn't have sold that number of copies because not everyone had that console. It's thesame reason 6 is being delayed until 2025 for more people to get that console

Completely agree. I stopped playing GTA 5 during lockdown as I was sick of it after nearly 10 years. Started playing and modding gta 4 instead for the first time in years, and I've noticed how superior it is in everything except graphics, which can be modded. I would argue other than graphics and mechanics, even GTA SA is superior. In IV, the city is superior, mechanics/physics, characters, AI, the subway system, pretty much everything. Some of the cars look a bit old to be realistic in 2008 but so do some of the cars in GTA 5 for 2013, and that can be modded in both games. Gta 4 also has 3 characters if you include the DLC content, something we didn't get in GTA 5 single player, but you connect with each of them, as the stories are one after another, like the old Getaway games, rather than constantly switching between. They are also far better characters in my view. I also hold GTA 5 responsible for the decline of Rockstar as they used to release a decent new game every couple of years. Now all they need to do is sit back and take the GTA online shark card money, only releasing a handful of new vehicles for online once a year. I seriously hope GTA 6 is more like GTA 4 or RDR 2, but I worry they somehow make so much money off the overrated GTA 5 that I'm not sure.
Just because you like the city of GTA IV doesn't make it superior. The map is small, the driving is slow, no good car customisation, the atmosphere looks way too gloomy and sad, all these things make a casual player shun away from enjoying it. GTA V caters to a casual audience and I hate to break it to you but they're the majority. You don't need super realistic physics to have fun. On all accounts though, I'd say RDR 2 is the overall best. Its atmosphere seems welcoming and the story is just as good as 4's if not better. The horse mechanics are simple enough, the world is much more detailed and "interactable" than GTA 4. Coming to GTA V, its story is not as mediocre as you think and can be interesting if you actually pay attention to all the missions(including the side ones and hangouts)
In your opinion, in mine GTA 5 is massively inferior and the worst game of the 3d and HD eras. Agree with the commenter above that rdr2 is the best game altogether though.

Trevor is the only character I can connect to. Not because I am a psycho (I certainly hope not) but because he is the only honest choice. The crap these people do are completely insane. They murder all the time. All of them. Trevor has no moral issue with it because he is insane. They even talk about it in the game, to my amusement.
I feel looking back in 5 years, GTA 5 will be remembered like a glorified tech demo. The concept seemed too advanced for the PS3/360 era, and with online blowing up, the PS4/xbone upgrade seemed like a minor tune-up that Rockstar should have taken advantage of to do those cancelled single player dlcs or at least add the cut content from the game. Now we now where Rockstar truly stands with priorities and I hope another developer starts taking aim at them.
Shut up. It's the highest sold video game and most popular for a reason. Once GTA 6 is out the nitpicking on GTA 5 would end just like that of 4 ended after 5 was released and the game would be remembered as a phenomenal masterpiece just like San Andreas. The best single player in the entire GTA franchise and the reason why rockstar have been delaying 6 because GTA 5 story mode is unmatched except by rdr2 which is a whole different setting
The map is incredible, sure, but the fact that there is only one major city makes roadtrips feel pointless. San Andreas, for example, had a much smaller and less detailed map, but roadtrips felt that more rewarding because there were THREE major cities, not to mention how diverse the map was. It left rewarding to depart from one city and arrive at a different one. Having the destination as the same place as the starting point feels pointless, and that's why I feel GTA V's map is pointlessly barren. And it would all make sense if we had at least one more major city at the top of the map (San Fierro would be perfect for this)
STRONGLY disagree. GTA4, despite its merits, was clunky and tedious. The "realistic physics" just amount to running into a building when trying to turn around a corner.
Pick your poison when it comes to "realism". Do you want cars that all handle differently or cars that all handle the same. If you take the first you have to accept some of the cars being shit.
Not really mate. You do realise you're probably driving a POS car so it'll handle as such. The higher performance cars were a lot easier to drive. Meanwhile every car handles the same in Gta 5. In Gta 4 vehicles handled differently based on their purpose, they had character.
I always loved how in GTA 4 and San Andreas you have a reason to travel around the map to do different things. In SA i would start in LS, take the plane to LV to gamble in the casinos, then travel to San Fierro to smuggle cars, take the train back to LS where i would do gang wars and many more. GTA 4 also gives incentives in the form of friends activities that are specific to certain parts of the map (the Perestoika in broker, the strip clubs in Bohan and Alderney, the Superstar Cafe in Algonquin, the Irish Pub in Dukes, various pool bars ecc). In V the minigames are pointless padding and don't require you to go to specific places (apart from the golf course which is unaccessible and the dart bar near Sandy Shores which is extremely small); sure there are cinemas, restaurants and bars but neither have interiors. What is baffling is that they were designing more activities and sub missions but scrapped them entirely (the stand up comedy bar, the Bahama Mamas night club, the Tequila La La concert hall, the giant Vinewood open Theater that is never visited at all in the story, perhaps even the kortz center for art galleries). Even after the Casino, Nightclubs and Arcades were recycled back in GTA O Rockstar refused to port them in Story Mode, go play online R* says (where to do those things you either pay up real money or grind for days). P.s the best way to play GTA V is on PC where mods fix most of the gameplay problems (physics, gunplay, police response, car handling, map fixes, interiors) altough many core elements are still lacking.
While I disagree with the idea that you can't get any attachment to the trio from 5, I definitely felt more ownership of CJ. Mike, Frank, Trevor, and even Nyko feel more like characters I'm watching rather than characters I'm playing.
For me, pretty much all of the previous GTA entries felt like complete experiences & never felt like anything was missing. However, I've always felt like GTA 5's story & open world were a bit Hollow. Like there were originally meant to be more open world interactions & buildings to enter. At least on the same level as GTA 4. I do also wonder whether the game was somewhat rushed. As Rockstar did make & release quite a few games in-between GTA 4 & GTA 5. For example; There are actually burger/hot dog stands in the game like in GTA 4, but there is never anyone at them. There are also comedy clubs & fast food restaurants that are inaccessable. The gameplay definitely always felt very arcade-like. Hanging out with friends in GTA 5 also felt quite boring & pointless compared to GTA 4. It also felt like NPC's had gotten dumber. The three protagonists were really interesting & fun to play. But they definitely seemed a little too disconnected at times. I also felt like Rockstar spent much of the main campaign coming up with reasons as to why they keep working together & keep having to do heists. I think GTA 6 having two protagonists that are a criminal duo will definitely add some variety to the game & could be a really cool idea if done well. Overall GTA 5 is a really good game, but I always felt like it was originally meant to do more.
@rustcohle479 if you have like a million dollar loft, then sure you'll have your own garage. More often than not tho, if you live in NY your car is being parked on the street lol, if you even have a car
Your opinion about gta 5 is the exact same opinion I have about it. I always find myself playing gta vice city gta san andreas gta 4 and gta liberty city stories because I have a connection to the main characters and I like the open world in those games they are actually fun and immersive unlike gta 5. The problem with gta 5 is that the story missions feel more like a chore than anything else I personally hate doing chores I just want to have fun.
5:50 I disagree. I think 3 protagonists put them in our shoes. They're all relatable, they make friendships IRL relatable, and sort of put them in our shoes.
Thank you for putting out there the main gripes that I always had with GTA V, I don't hate it and I think is an amazing game, but it misses the mark on so many points compared to their predecessors. I hope GTA 6 can correct all of it.
I am kind of bothered how they put the "whole state of san andreas" but there is no san fierro and las venturas Also north yankton state being introduced and only briefly seen-they could have put it into the story by having michael flee from los santos and go into a different part of north yankton other than ludendorff there in the beginning before trevor finds michael anyway and then they would go back to los santos again.
I always say multiple protagonist kills the immersion and the more characters you have the less deep they are. Happened with this new spiderman, happened with gtav and im sure it will be the same for gta6. I really want them to just focus on one character. Unless the games story is so long that they kind of handle it like a tv show like the wire or something where you may go an extended period of time and when you are hooked in the story, a cliff hanger happens and you go to the next character and then have dlc with each individual character. But the story would have to be very interesting more attuned to gta4 but even more fleshed out and grown up
A case of quantity over quality in regards to a lot of the issues with GTA 5. Luckily there are some great mods that bring back some of that IV/RDR magic.
I believe you're totally right about the 3 characters, and i would add something about their execution. All this "change player" mechanic, can be realistic; it makes you feel that the characters keep going with their lives and with their personality, when you're not around. BUT it makes you feel less connected to them. They become a "THEY", not "ME". They are independent from you. And this also reflects on your way of playing. Something that i really hate is when i leave my character somewhere, with a specific outfit that i chose, and took the time to pick and change; with a specific car i liked. But then, when i change character and come back to the first one, he's in another freaking place (sometimes at the other end of the map); with another freaking outfit, with another freaking car (while the one i chose maybe dissapeared forever). This is specially upsetting with Trevor, which reappears with his ugly and dirty t-shirt, running from the police, or in his underwear, or with a dress, on top of a freaking mountain. So now you have to lose the police or get down the mountain; drive back to where you want to take him, or somewhere you can change clothes; change clothes; find another car that you like, or see if the previous was confiscated by the police. All a big waste of time. Or take Michael, the guy that's usually with a suit, but now he's on the beach with a short and flip flops. Or take Franklin, the guy who lives in a mansion in the richest neighborhood, but reappears with his old low life gangster outfit. All this is good for character building during the first time you play the story (full of surprises); also making you feel there's something missing when the characters aren't available, for plot purposes. BUT... in the overall gameplay, and specially when you try to complete the game in its 100%, it's not only annoying, but un-interactive. It takes the control out of you. You cannot choose who your character is; you cannot choose how to play this game. And that... being GTA; one of the biggest sandbox there is, is a damn waste. Where's the "you can do whatever you want" essence in this? Where's the freedom? Not to even talk about the full-linear focus of the missions, in a big open sandbox map. PS: I think i read somewhere that GTA V HAS a search circle/radio, but INVISIBLE. I think it would make some sense, because when you stay in the same zone/neighbourhood, even if you have 1 star, it seems that the wanted level takes a lot of time to dissapear or maybe it stays forever. But i'm not completely sure. Perhaps someone knows better. That doesn't take the search system is horrible and unimmersive anyway.
Trevor was deeper than you say. He's a sociopath because of the pain his mother put him through, and nothing is more important to him than loyalty. Some might even say he's even more human than Franklin the ice-cold psychopath who's just using everyone around him.
I was looking for this. He has a lot of character and interesting personality traits that boiling him down to "A Psychopath" is honestly kinda sad. Without him, the story of GTA 5 - even if reworked to fit with the lack of Trevor - wouldn't be nearly as good as the game with Trevor. Trevor is the messy, disgraceful, arguably cannibalistic, angry son of a bitch that ties the whole experience together for me.
This is why I’m hoping they keep most of the gameplay from rdr2. The melee specifically. Tackling, grabbing, throwing, and all of that stuff is honestly my favorite thing. It’d be such a loss to not have that in gta 6
One minor detail I wish part V kept from IV, is the ability to leave the car on when you get out of it. It’s so annoying getting out turning off the whole car to collect something for a second.
EDIT: I think I made a mistake with the interior part. The rest of it still stands. Just putting this here because i'm tired of people ripping apart one mistake 2 weeks later and getting 5 upvotes Get a life. This game had SO much more potential. I played this game at launch on PS3 and I was so disappointed when I crashed the car and nothing happened, the cars and NPC physics felt like toys. The map was nothing special either with a lack of enterable interiors(that don't open for one mission and then close forever) Los Santos and NPCs felt like backdrop to me, they didn't have much depth. The countryside was mostly flat shapes with almost no grass or vegetation. Then the story which felt so rushed and unfinished, especially Franklin but the other characters still weren't fleshed out enough imo. And the way they're shown is so lazy and kinda stupid. The last straw for me was when Johnny appeared in ONE cutscene only to get killed 2 minutes later in the lamest way possible. I put the game down on my first playthrough. There's a GTA 5 circlejerk that tells me I'm 'just tired' and GTA 4 is just 'nostalgia' and blah blah blah In reality I WANTED to love this game, I was hyped for it for 2 years and instead of delaying it for next gen another year and taking the time to finish it and not hold back because of hardware, it was rushed out the door to sell it twice. This game had SO much potential man
@@ross3695_basedhax stupid question that doesn't deserve a response. GTA San Andreas has the most interiors in the franchise but most of them were identical so 4 fixed this with more detailed interiors but very few but not noticable because the map is small bur GTA 5 has more interiors than any other GTA. You can claim half of the map is wilderness and I won't argue but the cities had more interiors than even San Andreas and I'm speaking about the single player because most of them were cut out from the online

One thing bad about both games is cut content, GTA IV was supposed to be Liberty State, instead of Liberty City. And GTA V should had San Ferio and Las Ventures
Not true really. They had the idea to have a map with LC and added countryside but not necessarily the whole state of Liberty. Also, LC isn't the only city in IV, Alderney City is in it which is part of a different state as well. Still sad that the didn't include the countryside tho. But for V, adding San Fierro and Las Venturas would absolutely not have been possible lmao. They already only managed to create a tiny map with one city in it, let alone 3 complete cities. The hardware could never have handled it plus it would've taken a lot more development and would have needed to fit into the story
@@smoshbooz i mean,if they downscaled the map (specifically the mountains and countryside) i imagine they could have pulled it off a bit better with san fierro and/or las venturas(more realistically one or the other). It could have been possible if they didn't add so much empty space which is mostly mountains in the countryside
I had this idea in my head to fix GTA V's unbalanced police system and that is the light cyan search radius that works just like in IV except it activates 5-6 seconds after getting a wanted level. The police will then search *your last known location instead of going to your hiding spot* unless you stay in that radius or there's no other escape route (parachuting off the skyscraper is sometimes not a good idea as a random cop car that is driving toward the radius will spot you, but it's still possible). The radius will keep its shape regardless of how many stars you have (reminiscent of the one when you get two stars in IV), also the stars will slowly diminish after one minute if you stay hidden while inside the radius, similar to SA.
@@klein2042I've got a good amount of racetrack experience. Trust me stock cars on normal tyres do handle and roll as badly as they do in gta4. My issue with gta4 driving though is the awful gearboxes which always shift up at the wrong time (which was fixed in 5) and the automatic countersteering when sliding which makes you overcorrect all the time (which was nicely toned down in 5)
I remember my first playthrough of GTA 5 about a year ago. World felt shallow. Driving felt hollow Gunplay felt sticky and unresponsive. Characters were as unbearable as quippy, MCU characters. Story was the event horizon of sheer bordem and apathy. The radio stations were the unsung hero, and the only thing keeping me from quitting out of principal. And yet somehow this game sold like hotcakes and is considered amongst the greats. It's absolutely absurd how so many people can be blinded to what is essentially the definition of a Nothing Burger.
Gta iv is better in many ways. Gta V is a "quantity over quality" type of game. Many cars, big map, many gimmicks, but just no real content or good story. It's a lousy feel good american hollywood story. Wheras GTA IV is a truly sad and dark game that makes you grateful that you aren't a criminal
While i do enjoy immersion i gotta say: the 3 character approach is not meant to put you in someone's shoes. The 3 different personalities are meant to highlight different ways of character writing and gameplay. For me Trevor was the most fun because i love playing a lunatic, Michael was the most engaging because he had more development (or an attempt at) and Frank was a boring middle ground because it was needed between the 2 extremes. I think you just approached this from a wrong angle, tho i get where you're coming from. Imo the biggest issue was the ending, all of em were so anticlimactic and purchasing real estate didn't feel like it had much personal meaning because it's not introduced through the story. That aside you do make some good points in general (About the army especially) and it's refreshing to see a critique of GTA 5 in general. Hats off to you bud
I feel like gta 5 was trying to go for like this action block buster with minimal down time. I feel like theres no way to feel immersed in the game at all. Take gta 4 for example, we can go to cluckin bell, burger shot or even a hot dog stand and get something to eat to regain health. Smth that gta 5 stepped away from and only had us eat small snacks from a gas station. Taking friends out to restaurants in gta 4 was fun and there was an incentive as rather than roaming around for a health pack, you regain health from eating adding to the immersion of the world. Having the ability to interact with the world makes it more grounded experience imo, and gta 5 stepped away from it. Also something i wish came about was an expansion to the public transport system set up in gta 4. For the first 2 acts of the game, you could take the train to almost every mission adding to that immersion of living in the city. I understand that in real life, public transport isnt very big in LA as it is in NYC but there are ways to make it work like taking a bus for example. The small little details add to the world and makes it feel more lived in rather than a sandbox to mess around with. Its just the small things that make you wanna play SA or Gta 4 again
Personally, I love the switching mechanic. The scenarios are so varied and cool, I never really cared about the clothes since I can just change Michael's in-house outfit by just..going to his nearby room, and Trevor's scenarios with whatever clothes he's wearing makes it funnier. But I do switch between Mike and Frank the most because they're my favorite protagonists. (I love trevor too but I just prefer more grounded characters.) Another thing for me, driving cars in 4 compared 5 is somewhat slow in my opinion, nothing bad, just hard to get a hang of. 5 is a lot more responsive in that department, in my opinion. I really like how 5 characters control compared to 4. A lot more fluid and responsive, melee is straightforward and simple which I personally prefer, ragdolls are super fun and neat, sneaking is a lot less stiff, gun handling is AMAZING! (along with the weapon circle) but 4 was already very good at that, characters in 5 control just as good as 4 imo even with the simplified parkour I still love jumping around walls and corners wherever I please, while it does feel somewhat slower but it doesn't feel stiff too for me. I also ADORE the character abilities as they bring more to the table in terms of gameplay, and they're entirely optional, how cool is that?! I really hope they bring that back for 6.
In GTA V, if you shot an NPC in the leg with a single 9mm, they would fall and die. While in GTA IV the NPCs would clutch their wounded area and attempt to hobble away, I remember how much of a game-changer that was for a Grand Theft Auto title. . The way blood would pool was impressive. In GTA 5, blood pools appear too quickly and always appears rounded. The explosions in IV are more visually appealing, as is the driving experience and the crashes (except for the exaggerated bike accidents, haha). The way NPCs drive is clearly superior. The police in IV actually wants to arrest you, and only shoots if you aim a weapon at them, in V they shoot you straight away, not even giving you time to surrender, NPCs call the police just by standing in the street, even they want to fight you for no reason, WTF. In IV Your friends actually calls you to hang out, Nico reacts better while playing games, the ragdoll is better, the only thing I gran GTA V did better was the selection of vehicles you can drive, and the ocean, nothing more. GTA V, indeed, feels like a downgrade compared to its predecessor.
I do think you have a misread on Trevor's character just a bit, but I get where you're coming from. He was a young kid who really looked up to Michael, who was roped into the life of crime by him, so when Michael dies/betrays him it took him down a dark path. But since he is clearly the most "fucked up" character people have a hard time trying to like and get into "being" Trevor, so I understand where you're coming from on this.
Thing about GTA 5 that everything got both improved and mildly worsened/sidegraded. For a game that was made to run on same generation of consoles and better than GTA 4, its incredibly impressive. Aside of Euphoria, most of aspects of hte games are drastictly improved, animations, detail, city, country side and amount of detail in npcs and other aspects. I disagree that shooting mechanics were simplified, if anything its simplified compared to Max Payne 3, but both Max Payne and GTA 5 are massive improvement over GTA 4, especially content, types of vehicles and other alike aspects. GTA IV had one more thing, bigger amount of enterable interiors, and NPCs looked better on average, NPCs in GTA 5 look ugly outside of main story cast/cutscene models and it was never improved even on next gen versions and i think NPCS and player/story characters should be on identical level of fidelity at this point. Core of what made GTA IV feel better is physicality coming straight from euphoria integration and driving, in the latter case almost to a fault. GTA 5 makes driving more satisfying if you dont use something utterly op and still menage in Online against people who cant drive at all. Perfect gameplay is somewhere between GTA IV and GTA 5 and Max Payne 3. RDR2 shown they went deeper into realism but to a fault, GTA 6 hopefully will delve back into nicer middle ground between Euphoria from GTA IV and mechanics of Max Payne 3 and GTA 5. Story and Characters of GTA IV was nicer, and fun factor too as you said, but i see things that are indeed better in GTA 5, its far more polished than 4 and reintroduced so many missing things, extra detail to damage of vehicles that was not there in GTA 4 and prior. Its only real gameplay downgrades are AI, Euphoria being nerfed. I do like both.
there was no content for single player at all you couldn't do shit with money but buy a few shit cars, there gotta be more things that you can do with money and ways to earn it
In GTA online in the short trips missions Lamar tells Franklin to not use his special ability (obviously due to online not having special abilities) but maybe it shows that Rockstar also found them pointless. Maybe GTA 6 will be more grounded like GTA 4.
Call me crazy but aside from physics, GTA IV genuinely has the worst mission format in the entire franchise due to how repetitive and they were. It also lacked so much side content that previously existed in older games such as SA and VCS. These features is why I'm glad GTA V and TBoGT heavily improved on it. Don't get me wrong, GTA IV is a fantastic game and definitely is one of my favourites next to SA and V but it's just not a "perfect game with zero flaws" which some people may apply it to be.
IV is now the most overrated GTA game with people claiming that it is superior to V in every way. GTAV is better than IV in many ways, and I personally think the driving is far better in V.
@@Cookiemonsterhaschocolateballs gta 4 is VERY overrated and you're proof of it. GTA 5 if anything is overhated. look at how many of these dumb "gta 5 is bad" yt "documentaries" there are
I feel just like you, gta 5 couldnt get me interested enough to do the side things and I find my self as the definition of the Drive memes (I just drive), but hell yeah I do be spending hours Dominating gang territories in SA even tho I've already finished the history
The ragdoll physics and overall attention to fine detail in IV made V feel sort of rushed and Liberty City in GTA IV felt very real and alive while V feels empty and shallow. I even prefer the heavy handling driving physics of IV to the arcade lightweight feel i get driving in V. GTA V has incredible voice acting and i dig the weapon variety and vehicle customization but thats about it...
The reason the abilities make no difference in missions is precisely because Rockstar did a terrible job integrating 3 protagonists into the story. Whenever they have to be in a mission together they're always assigned the roles that least fit their abilities, a good example is the Merryweather Heist where Franklin is on sniper duty (even though his strength is driving), Michael is on the ship planting explosives and getting shot at (even though he's the marksman) and Trevor is driving a submarine (even though he's the crazy one that can tank bullets). Someone high up on the development team really wanted the protagonists to have special abilities but someone else realized how stupidly OP they are so they designed the missions in such a way that the player can't actually use them for the most part, it's terrible game design.
After completing the story, i mainly played Franklin. I like the point from the guy in the video that he is "the most normal guy you will see in San Andreas". I hit the stock market, bought every business, and played around with cheats. Or hit director mode and steal a jet with no wanted level. Michael, Franklin, and Trevor are essential characters to the story of GTA V, if it werent for them, the story would be real empty. All the characters have unique traits and characteristics.
I honestly feel Micheal should’ve been the sole Mc or just him and Trevor since the whole main story revolves around them and their story and history, frank just seemed tacked on last second in development
Funny (and somewhat tragic) fact about difference between ☆★★★★ and ★★★★★ in GTA V: Only differences are: -One more boat on sea, while having ★★★★★ -You should lose ☆★★★★ after about 50s, while ★★★★★ should dissapear after about 1:20. In ☆★★★★ and ★★★★★ (at least on Gen VIII, IX consoles and PC) there should be at least 7 pursuit vehicles on land and at least 2 helicopters, so there isn’t any noticeable difference.
The funny thing about people's sudden preference to IV over V is that it came many years after the launch of V once the online became the behemoth that it is. It seems that people don't like the popularity and implication that came with GTA V so they lament a different time where they had more fond memories of the franchise. In reality, GTA V addressed almost every criticisms that people were very vocal about from IV. Driving physics, mission structure, checkpoints, shooting, vehicle types, customisation, open world were all things that were improved based on people's feedback. Even things like the tone of the story and characters that people often criticise for being a lighter and more bombastic, was done this way because people wanted the San Andreas energy to come back that was somewhat missing in IV. Hell, they even made the whole story about heists purely because they saw how much fans loved the Three Leaf Clover mission from IV. I love both games but V takes the cake because it went back to the emphasis on mayhem and missions were consistently engaging (aside from a few missions of course) while IV, imo, has too much downtime in some missions.
Though the problem is,some of the same critiscisms are now the more praised aspects of 4 such as the driving physics (don't get me started on 5's driving physics i absolutely fucking HATE THEM,san andreas's too to an extent because i still feel as if cars handle too easily in sa too but atleast they handle less easily) I kinda disagree that the open world was improved because its like 55% empty mountain 30% city 15% the rest and only the city is actually interesting
@@Damian-cilr2 better than 4 that feels like driving a boat on a ice and guess what ppl absolutely hated it back then as well As for the map, it was scaled down obviously due to PS3's hardware limitations, though I would agree that many places are empty

The worst part to me is definitelly how all the content that should be on single player is on the Online mode. I don't want to play with some annoying kid that has an infinite credit card from mommy, just to go into night clubs, buy houses and all the cool stuff that is not on the base game. Rockstar killed the content of Single player GTA by putting all the effort into making sure people buy more SharkCards.
the only thing Gta V really improved on compared to Gta IV was the bike riding. I have never seen anyone defend Gta IV bike riding because it's abhorrently bad.
For a GTA game and R* standards, V was pretty lackluster and shallow. -Yes the map is the biggest out of all, but it's also pretty empty. -Yes the graphics are far better, but the game lacks a recognizable artstyle. -Yes you now have 3 switchable characters, but you don't bind to one and indulge into the story before. Also, just like movies nowadays, GTA V suffers from an overdose of self-awareness which ruins the immersion.

It would have been nice if they could add another City or made North Yankton accessible in free roam
The lack of interiors also hurt the level of immersion , like we can't enter Burgershots, Hospitals, Apartments, Car Dealership etc or even the interiors that was present in Story Missions and locked in free roam like Martin Madrazos and Lester's house .

Special abilities isn’t what defines a superhero game.
yeaaa if you dont like the special ability stuff just simply dont use it, the guy above me has a really great point.
@@av7224 what I meant was special abilities doesn’t belong in gta. Red dead I don’t mind since you are playing as a gunslinger and the guns in that game do a lot of damage. Special abilities removed any amount of challenge missions had
1 - World feels small and empty because there is only 1 city, a tons of mountains with nothing
2 - Police system is worse as you said
3 - The physics are extremely annoying. Your character gives up on living and falls like a doll, it happens a lot
4 - Lack of varied activities
5 - The story is too nonsensical, you barely have time to meet other characters and have any kind of bond with them, you don't have time to get used to a neighborhood (you skip them too fast), most story missions are extremely exaggerated

I have to disagree with this point.

Ending A also has a lot of loose ends and will probably result in the protagonists dying
@@SaulBadman-wb5kt "probably" 😂
@@nitrosodium most likely

Lots of special effects and action, but shallow as a puddle
(I also want to throw this in)
I feel like 2 protagonists for GTA 6 is way to go too, and Rockstar made really really good decision by making them a couple, since that's the closest you get for having a variety, but also because the characters are already connected between each other, it's more like you played one character.

There supposed to be different stories and different themes. Gta v may not have as good of a story as gta iv but its still really good.

Sure, they should tone the arcade styling down and add back some more "realistic" physics but being still more towards GTA5s driving than 4s.
As someone who played GTA V since its launch it has some problems that made me resent it more than other GTA titles:
The Story missions are a fake advertisement of what the world of Los Santos really is with constant scripted events during them that make it feel more alive meanwhile the AI is braindead most of the time and interiors that are of exclusive access in certain missions
The map is 90% empty, almost all buildings of Los Santos are just points of reference that the player can’t interact in any way and Blaine County is just an empty area with two towns being the furthest one the most uninteresting by far. Not even the open desert and the forest areas can be of good use due to how small they are
The police system is a huge stepback from GTA IV, since it is an annoyance to get rid of, crimes seem to be reported by telepathic messages since you can get a wanted level in the middle of nowhere and cops just engage police brutality even if you just have a single star
Physics and the vehicle mechanics are just janky, ragdoll is not as satisfying as in GTA IV, the driving is too much on the arcade side, air vehicles are made of nitroglycerin since any crash lead them to explosions and damage mechanics in cars were ok but now with first person camera the roofs cant be damaged so you just can turn a car into a box with wheels rather than a banana like in last gen
And of course how Rockstar milked this game for 10 years. Videos like this wouldn’t be so relevant if R* didn’t drag this game like it their masterpiece which just made its flaws 10 times worse and more noticeable
I think the biggest turnoff in the game for me is the police , that thing you mentioned about them being always aware of where you are hiding just sucks the fun out of the game so much, if you start a rampage for fun you gotta make peace with the fact you're probably gonna be sent to the hospital and lose a bit of money (which is actually a lot of money if you're early enough in the game to spend the 5k on the hospital but still not be rich) instead of feeling like a boss and making an escape
the infinitely respawning choppers that are always conveniently above you even if you're in the middle of nowhere are also SUPER annoying
That's false an NPC always informs them and you see him or her making the call or yelling call the cops. Play the game for yourself and stop trolling
@@rustcohle479 you assume I sat down to watch an 11 minute video about a game I don't even play, make a comment critiquing something about it and I'm the one trolling?

I installed some mods to make my GTAV a lot closer to GTAIV in certain aspects. Some of these mods were
- euphoria physics overhaul - makes it similar to GTAIV in terms of the physics
- car deformation mod - similar level of car deformation as seen in GTAIV
- IV style exit vehicle - hold button to turn engine off, car stays running otherwise
- shoot weapons out of hands mod - something that could be done in GTAIV but not in vanilla GTAV
- push mod - the ability to push peds like in GTAIV
Some other mods that really enhanced the experience for me were also
- police dispatch overhaul mod - makes it so someone HAS to call the police for you to get a wanted level, no more being wanted by shooting someone in the middle of a forest and many other adjustments to the police system, including option to have the army come after you at 5 stars
- car handling rework - mostly increases the top speed of cars that should have a higher top speed. In the vanilla game all cars are limited to < 120mph which is ridiculous for some of the supercars. Driving is a LOT more fun when you can actually hit 200mph+ in many of the cars
- supersonic jets - similar to the above mod but for jets. With this mod you can hit 1000+ mph in jets. This does mean that you fly over the entire map in seconds though. Includes a sonic boom and afterburner sound effects too
- open all interior mods - all interiors used for missions and optionally also Online interiors too become available in singleplayer free roam. There are more than 50 interiors that this mod unlocks that are otherwise inaccessible
- refined weapons mod - many great adjustment to the weapons, including actual bullet travel time, new sound effects, some optional limits on ammo capacity so you can't just have 10000 rounds of every ammo type, overall improved shooting
I'm forgetting a bunch more but with these mods the experience of playing GTAV was a lot better than vanilla and it brought back many things I enjoyed in GTAIV

It's a 10 year old game move on. If I were to count the flaws of the older games, it's sure much worse than GTA 5
Spec ops weapons to Micheal etc
Lastly, something I consider a glaring omission is the inability to switch during a hangout.
If the game got delayed for 2014 for just PS4 and Xbox One, we could have gotten more.

GTA 4 is not superior to GTA 5 in any way. Stop the cap

@@idiot_city5444 facts
The map is incredible, sure, but the fact that there is only one major city makes roadtrips feel pointless. San Andreas, for example, had a much smaller and less detailed map, but roadtrips felt that more rewarding because there were THREE major cities, not to mention how diverse the map was. It left rewarding to depart from one city and arrive at a different one.
Having the destination as the same place as the starting point feels pointless, and that's why I feel GTA V's map is pointlessly barren. And it would all make sense if we had at least one more major city at the top of the map (San Fierro would be perfect for this)
Gta 5 made me question if rockstar is even trying to be realistic with physics anymore😂
STRONGLY disagree. GTA4, despite its merits, was clunky and tedious. The "realistic physics" just amount to running into a building when trying to turn around a corner.
Get good at the game lil bro
Skill issue
slow down then turn... easy!
GTA 5 has more interiors than GTA 4. Wtf are you on. GTA 4 didn't even have garages present in earlier entries

I can understand that, and some of the missions in 5 were definitely more fun.
GTA4 missions were too repetitive
GTA 4 missions are on the level of GTA 3 just with fancy graphics
5:50 I disagree. I think 3 protagonists put them in our shoes. They're all relatable, they make friendships IRL relatable, and sort of put them in our shoes.
Thank you for putting out there the main gripes that I always had with GTA V, I don't hate it and I think is an amazing game, but it misses the mark on so many points compared to their predecessors. I hope GTA 6 can correct all of it.
I am kind of bothered how they put the "whole state of san andreas" but there is no san fierro and las venturas
Also north yankton state being introduced and only briefly seen-they could have put it into the story by having michael flee from los santos and go into a different part of north yankton other than ludendorff there in the beginning before trevor finds michael anyway and then they would go back to los santos again.

Shut up, GTA 5 is a better game
True. Kinda disappointed people don’t understand Trevor. He definitely the sanest out if all 3. No joke
I personally connected with him much more
@@SergeiKeyVee🤨
Just putting this here because i'm tired of people ripping apart one mistake 2 weeks later and getting 5 upvotes
Get a life.
There's a GTA 5 circlejerk that tells me I'm 'just tired' and GTA 4 is just 'nostalgia' and blah blah blah
In reality I WANTED to love this game, I was hyped for it for 2 years and instead of delaying it for next gen another year and taking the time to finish it and not hold back because of hardware, it was rushed out the door to sell it twice. This game had SO much potential man

The hardware could never have handled it plus it would've taken a lot more development and would have needed to fit into the story
bro wanted a game that can barely run on the older console generations to have 2 new big cities
@@smoshbooz i mean,if they downscaled the map (specifically the mountains and countryside) i imagine they could have pulled it off a bit better with san fierro and/or las venturas(more realistically one or the other).
The only thing better about 5 is the camera angle when driving. It was awful on IV.
The actual handling of cars, really. GTA IV cars drove like they were on ice and their suspension was obnoxious.
Only thing? There’s a lot of things better in gta 5
Driving felt hollow
Gunplay felt sticky and unresponsive.
(I love trevor too but I just prefer more grounded characters.)
Another thing for me, driving cars in 4 compared 5 is somewhat slow in my opinion, nothing bad, just hard to get a hang of.
If they would have expanded and enhanced the game with San Fierro and more story we probably could have connected with them more.
Let's hope GTA VI fixes some of these issues. Our expectations are mounting to the top, all because GTA V overstayed it's welcome... FOR 10 YEARS!!!
your channel icon has a Whatever vibe ( whatever was a popular gta channel btw )
I like Whatever a lot :)
'Was'? I kinda didn't notice - did he go anywhere?
He's still here Making GTA content
They tried to accomplish too much in V while so many great details were left out.
there was no content for single player at all you couldn't do shit with money but buy a few shit cars, there gotta be more things that you can do with money and ways to earn it
In GTA online in the short trips missions Lamar tells Franklin to not use his special ability (obviously due to online not having special abilities) but maybe it shows that Rockstar also found them pointless.

Imo, they should've kept the two protagonists with Michael and Franklin, but made Trevor a side-character., kinda like Roman in IV.
I’d hope you can play as one or the other character in six. Might give the game more replayability two different stories interwoven like TBGT and IV
Franklin should’ve been the only character on this game
Hell no, Michael and Trevor are both better written characters.
That would be a terrible gta story
After completing the story, i mainly played Franklin. I like the point from the guy in the video that he is "the most normal guy you will see in San Andreas". I hit the stock market, bought every business, and played around with cheats. Or hit director mode and steal a jet with no wanted level. Michael, Franklin, and Trevor are essential characters to the story of GTA V, if it werent for them, the story would be real empty. All the characters have unique traits and characteristics.
Fr like CJ should of been another hood game
I honestly feel Micheal should’ve been the sole Mc or just him and Trevor since the whole main story revolves around them and their story and history, frank just seemed tacked on last second in development
Funny (and somewhat tragic) fact about difference between ☆★★★★ and ★★★★★ in GTA V:
Only differences are:
-One more boat on sea, while having ★★★★★
-You should lose ☆★★★★ after about 50s, while ★★★★★ should dissapear after about 1:20.
I love both games but V takes the cake because it went back to the emphasis on mayhem and missions were consistently engaging (aside from a few missions of course) while IV, imo, has too much downtime in some missions.
yes
Though the problem is,some of the same critiscisms are now the more praised aspects of 4 such as the driving physics (don't get me started on 5's driving physics i absolutely fucking HATE THEM,san andreas's too to an extent because i still feel as if cars handle too easily in sa too but atleast they handle less easily)
I kinda disagree that the open world was improved because its like 55% empty mountain 30% city 15% the rest and only the city is actually interesting
@@Damian-cilr2 better than 4 that feels like driving a boat on a ice and guess what ppl absolutely hated it back then as well
As for the map, it was scaled down obviously due to PS3's hardware limitations, though I would agree that many places are empty
9:56 Personally I liked the 3 characters stuff, we had for everyone and it fully embodied all my moods, GTA 6 was supposed to have 4 characters if I'm not wrong was then reduced to 2
the only upgrades were some gameplay mechanics specific to v (like multiple characters), and graphics -- pretty much everything else got downgraded.
Lost was great
@@Ronuk1996 yeah the riding missions were cool

@@Thomas_Angelo and? It improved so much more yet you focus on the things it didn’t do as good 😭
For a GTA game and R* standards, V was pretty lackluster and shallow.
Been playing GTA IV again and couldn’t help but notice so many unique character animations, physics, and overall games mechanics. Many that do not exist in GTA V.
