Honestly, I don't know if I enjoy The sequels versions of these weapons nearly as much as I do CE's. Seriously AR and Shotgun in this game DECIMATE. Especially the shotgun man. And the pistol of course. (actually just all these damn weapons). You can't beat the classic metallic clank of these sounds.
The closest magnum in the halo series to the M6D has to be either the ODST socom variant or the halo 5 magnum and as for Halo CE shotgun there nothing that can compare to it. It would be cool to be able to classic variants of weapons in infinite or even had have an audio option to turn on classic SFX like they've done in doom eternal

Helljumper Bravo-16 the difference may be in what your shooting. The pistol you have in 2 maybe is using lighter bullets at the cost of lower damage (the high explosive part may be not as much, if at all.)
If you work out the muzzle velocity from the scorpion's barrel (longer than known tank today) with it's mass of 90mm shells with it's unknown extremely efficient propellant. It would put our tanks today in shame. It's not the size shell that matters, but what you do with it.

The Forerunners also have far more advanced/powerful weapons than the weapons that can easily kill demons. Forerunner ship weaponry is likely 1000(or more) times stronger than any BFG. The only thing unrealistic about the M90 in game is the blunderbus like spread... shotguns have a more condense spread than you realize. But hey if the marines are ever craving some Halo airborn wildlife like the birds flying around, grab a handful of 8 gauge birdshot and PULL!!!
I really loved the old MA5B and the M6D. The best alternative to a Doom loadout. Really gorram great. I was always bad at the rocket launcher, so I used the M6D and the MA5B. I did hate the M6C. That's the pistol in Halo 2. Wasn't as powerful. No scope, either.

When I found this channel a couple weeks ago, I kept seeing the merch plug for his "iconic" shirts and never really knew why. After this video, I get it now.
I'll give you something, I know there aren't a lot of well versed gun-loving Brits (Maybe except my dad and a few others), but your examination of each weapon is quite detailed! For someone as knowledged as myself in the subject, this kind of speaking is like being an adult and listening to a ten year old talk (gas operated, 900 rounds per minute), but when most people talking about guns talk like 2 year olds (Trigger, "clip", "end of the gun) in the subject, what a refresher that is! All I have to say though, the 7.62x51 NATO is indeed used in the FAL and SCAR, but not in the SVT-40 (7.62x54R) or BAR (7.62x63, more commonly known as .30-06/Thirty-aught-six). Still, doesn't take away from how much work you put into it, and I LOVE that you used real world examples. Oh, and it probably would have been good to mention that the 12.7x40mm the M5D Magnum is chambered in is basically the equivalent of putting a .50 caliber projectile (half an inch in diameter, same thickness as Barrett .50 but not length) in a 7.62x39 (AK47) cartridge case. ;) I have to admit though, most of the gun designs are utter disasters lol. Like the AR having huge spread and bad accuracy, like the whole point of a bullpup is to get more accuracy and less spread with a shorter gun! Or like the DMR from later games, where the gas tube is BELOW the barrel like an M1, thus increasing muzzle flip and general recoil because the barrel axis is higher up. I'd like to talk to the guys at Misriah and beat them over the head with an F2000 so it gets ingrained in their skulls how to do a bullpup right!

The literal point of making a rifle bullpup is to allow for an increased barrel length and thus more accuracy, so why does it spread like a mofo past 10 meters? lmfao game balance is a weird thing. And speaking about the F2000, did you ever hear the funny story about the MA5B and F2000? The artist at Bungie who designed the MA5B (totally forgetting his name rn, my b) never even knew FN created the F2000, it was only when he'd finished the design someone came over and said it looked like one. What a strange coincidence...

Funfact: the Halo CE shotgun is the closest thing you will have in a videogame to shooting a real shotgun. Even though shotties application is mainly close quarters, due to it's highly destructive power, at long range is a very effective weapon. Shame that in Halo 2 it became with less reach than the plasma sword.
Honestly, it can spew copious amounts of lead and damage down a corridor. It's not _meant_ to be the killing blow, true, more of a crowd control/suppressing fire weapon in the sandbox, but it can slaughter just as well as any other automatic. I'd rather have the CE AR over the SMG or later ARs any day for my Halo games, if I have to grab a full-auto human weapon. The precision weapons are better on every front, as the sandbox is built around them in the Bungie games (CE Pistol, 2, 3, and ODST BR, and Reach DMR), but in the situations where they shine the CE AR is my personal favorite of the full-autos.
Wow. I always thought the massive autocannons on pelicans were 40mm or 50mm when compared to the small arms in the games. Then again, the longsword fighter has weapons normally seen on tanks. Makes you wonder why the pelican dropship is so weak whenever you see it shooting banshees, especially considering it fires depleted uranium rounds. Also it's pretty accurate for such a short barrel. EDIT: The nose turrets on the pelicans in Halo 2 look more like 20mm or 30mm cannons though.
6:18 - Which actually makes it one of the most realistic and well done shotguns in the Halo games. Whereas in the sequels that shotgun is just made into a one-hit-kill weapon up to a certain range and then basically starts tickling your enemy (or the shot disappears entirely), real world shotguns using buckshot (especially something as ridiculous as an 8 gauge) can easily send out shot and still be effective out to 100 meters/yards. The only issue at that range is the shot spread opening up, which is why shotguns also have chokes available to help narrow and contain the shot. Most games tend to do a horrible job with shotguns and either don't know any better or do it "for balance reasons." I've yet to see any game handle shotguns and armor effectively. Most body armor is going to be able to handle buckshot (although soft armor without a trauma plate is going to be horrific on you, you'll still survive... usually). Slugs are... well... a different monster altogether. Even if the vest does stop it, soft or with a trauma plate, you might still be killed just by the blunt force trauma. Never underestimate what shotgun slugs are capable of. But, realistically, that means that shotguns should be at a disadvantage against people with body armor, but rarely is that ever the case (and to be fair most submachine guns should be as well, which obviously means most handguns too). So it'd be interesting to see where you have to hit where there isn't any armor. Could be you have to empty your shotgun just to down one person in-game whereas other times you get lucky and have a headshot and drop them with one shot at 75 meters no less. Probably why no developer wants to touch that...

The CE flamethrower's been in the MCC multiplayer as long as I can remember and I still don't know how to use it well. I just use like the Halo 3 one and I can never get a kill with it :(

Some facts and trivia as it relates to the real world: 1:48 The M6D's 12.7x40mm round's case is exactly 7mm longer than the Desert Eagle's 12.7x33mm (.50AE) round, which was the most powerful production handgun cartridge in 2001 when Halo CE released. This is one of Bungie's most obscure 7 references. 3:30 Only half of these rifles fire the same round. SCAR - H: 7.62.51mm (Same as MA5B) FAL: 7.62x51mm (Same as MA5B) BAR: 7.62x63mm (.30-06) SVT-40: 7.62x54mmR The MA5B bears a resemblance to the FN F2000 assault rifle, but that is supposedly a coincidence. The SRS99 series sniper rifles were heavily inspired by the Denel NTW-20, which has a variant chambered in 14.5x114mm. The M41 LAAG is almost a direct copy of the US military's GAU-19, but with half the rate of fire.
Honestly, Halo CE has my favorite versions of all the Halo weapons. The shotgun, 12 rounds with a beautiful smooth surface. The AR with 60 rounds and 900rpm. The Magnum, nuff said. The flamethrower (for PC multiplayer only sadly). The sniper haha no recoil ever, plus it looks good. The NUKE GERNADE. And the rocket which I would say is the only weapon I feel like improved in design in 2 and 3 and in reach, but I like the huge explosive charge of CE. CE just all around has the best weapons. And the 2nd best Warthog only beat out by reach's
MA5B: Bullpup rifle with 20+ inch barrel firing 7.62x51 almost certainly capable of sub MOA accuracy and the punch to knock out a grunt 1000m away.. Also MA5B: Brrrprp bang brrrrrrppow pewpew pinguuu brrrrrrrrrrt (proceeds to land 3 out of 60 bullets on target 45 metres away) smh
Id like to think that the MA5B was an older model, one that they went back to design wise in H3, to that of the one from Halo Reach. Its a similar thought process to why Reach ODSTs dont use H2 ODST gear
Just so you know the BAR is not chambered in 7.62. It was actually chambered in 30-06. A much larger round with a much greater kick. This was done so that BAR operators could share ammo with regular riflemen who used the M1 Garand which was also chambered in 30-06.
Dumb fan lore my cousin and I came up with for why the Magnum is so OP in CE but after that just kind of..... meh. The idea is that Captain Key's pistol is specially modified, as on LASO difficulty it can 1 shot a grunt in the head, and that after Halo CE, Chief looses the pistol, which is why in every Halo game after that the pistol/magnum isn't super powerful.

Lore theory, because of the fact that humanity lost so many planets and lost reach and was probably in an economic crisis, in later games that take place after CE the budget for the weapons was slashed and variants of the guns made later on were of less quality and able to deal less damage (sorta similar to how in wwii the Italians, because they couldn’t afford any more of it, had berretta make a worse version of the high quality MAB 38 sub machine gun) That would explain halo 2-3, but doesn’t really explain halo 4 or reach, I would also mention halo 5 but ironically I think that the weapons in that game on the UNSC side are far more powerful than in halo 2 and 3, like especially the magnum, plus it seems in canon they started putting the CE magnum back into production

Halcyon class cruisers were absolute beasts. Only scraped because they were old & small. The Pillar of Autumn gave her sisters new life. I salute the old girl.
I’d argue the the Halcyons were obsolete. The only reason the Pillar of Autumn was so good is because it was chosen for a mission to attack High Charity and so was given tons of upgrades not found in the original Halcyons. In fact the Pillar of Autumns upgrades are the basis for the UNSCs newest cruiser line, the Autumn class.
I have a question and this has been a question I have had for a while, but in halo ce the elite minors and elite sergeants have orange lights on the back of their arms and legs, but the spec op elites and field commander elites have blue spots on their arms and legs. In halo 2 however, this was changed so that all elite classes have orange spots on the back of their arms and legs, is this just a simple design choice or is it a lore based concept(?).

The M90 is also very realistic imo, shotguns in real life can be very effective at medium ranges.

MA5B has always been my favorite CE weapon. It just sounds and feels amazing to shoot. It's utility also makes it worth using.

I'll give you something, I know there aren't a lot of well versed gun-loving Brits (Maybe except my dad and a few others), but your examination of each weapon is quite detailed! For someone as knowledged as myself in the subject, this kind of speaking is like being an adult and listening to a ten year old talk (gas operated, 900 rounds per minute), but when most people talking about guns talk like 2 year olds (Trigger, "clip", "end of the gun) in the subject, what a refresher that is!
All I have to say though, the 7.62x51 NATO is indeed used in the FAL and SCAR, but not in the SVT-40 (7.62x54R) or BAR (7.62x63, more commonly known as .30-06/Thirty-aught-six). Still, doesn't take away from how much work you put into it, and I LOVE that you used real world examples.
Oh, and it probably would have been good to mention that the 12.7x40mm the M5D Magnum is chambered in is basically the equivalent of putting a .50 caliber projectile (half an inch in diameter, same thickness as Barrett .50 but not length) in a 7.62x39 (AK47) cartridge case. ;)
I have to admit though, most of the gun designs are utter disasters lol. Like the AR having huge spread and bad accuracy, like the whole point of a bullpup is to get more accuracy and less spread with a shorter gun! Or like the DMR from later games, where the gas tube is BELOW the barrel like an M1, thus increasing muzzle flip and general recoil because the barrel axis is higher up. I'd like to talk to the guys at Misriah and beat them over the head with an F2000 so it gets ingrained in their skulls how to do a bullpup right!

Regarding the inaccuracies, yeah I always wondered that about the AR too. The literal point of making a rifle bullpup is to allow for an increased barrel length and thus more accuracy, so why does it spread like a mofo past 10 meters? lmfao game balance is a weird thing. And speaking about the F2000, did you ever hear the funny story about the MA5B and F2000?
The artist at Bungie who designed the MA5B (totally forgetting his name rn, my b) never even knew FN created the F2000, it was only when he'd finished the design someone came over and said it looked like one. What a strange coincidence...

Funfact: the Halo CE shotgun is the closest thing you will have in a videogame to shooting a real shotgun. Even though shotties application is mainly close quarters, due to it's highly destructive power, at long range is a very effective weapon.
Shame that in Halo 2 it became with less reach than the plasma sword.

the Assault Rifle: absolute garbage at killing elites when compared to anything else, useless at long range but the best flood infection form slayer
Honestly, it can spew copious amounts of lead and damage down a corridor. It's not _meant_ to be the killing blow, true, more of a crowd control/suppressing fire weapon in the sandbox, but it can slaughter just as well as any other automatic. I'd rather have the CE AR over the SMG or later ARs any day for my Halo games, if I have to grab a full-auto human weapon. The precision weapons are better on every front, as the sandbox is built around them in the Bungie games (CE Pistol, 2, 3, and ODST BR, and Reach DMR), but in the situations where they shine the CE AR is my personal favorite of the full-autos.

Favorite unsc weapon: the one that kills aliens
Wow. I always thought the massive autocannons on pelicans were 40mm or 50mm when compared to the small arms in the games. Then again, the longsword fighter has weapons normally seen on tanks. Makes you wonder why the pelican dropship is so weak whenever you see it shooting banshees, especially considering it fires depleted uranium rounds. Also it's pretty accurate for such a short barrel.
EDIT: The nose turrets on the pelicans in Halo 2 look more like 20mm or 30mm cannons though.

I’ve always fired 1 bullet at a time, which would be semi auto, but I’ve never tried to fire full auto.
6:18 - Which actually makes it one of the most realistic and well done shotguns in the Halo games. Whereas in the sequels that shotgun is just made into a one-hit-kill weapon up to a certain range and then basically starts tickling your enemy (or the shot disappears entirely), real world shotguns using buckshot (especially something as ridiculous as an 8 gauge) can easily send out shot and still be effective out to 100 meters/yards. The only issue at that range is the shot spread opening up, which is why shotguns also have chokes available to help narrow and contain the shot. Most games tend to do a horrible job with shotguns and either don't know any better or do it "for balance reasons." I've yet to see any game handle shotguns and armor effectively. Most body armor is going to be able to handle buckshot (although soft armor without a trauma plate is going to be horrific on you, you'll still survive... usually). Slugs are... well... a different monster altogether. Even if the vest does stop it, soft or with a trauma plate, you might still be killed just by the blunt force trauma. Never underestimate what shotgun slugs are capable of. But, realistically, that means that shotguns should be at a disadvantage against people with body armor, but rarely is that ever the case (and to be fair most submachine guns should be as well, which obviously means most handguns too). So it'd be interesting to see where you have to hit where there isn't any armor. Could be you have to empty your shotgun just to down one person in-game whereas other times you get lucky and have a headshot and drop them with one shot at 75 meters no less. Probably why no developer wants to touch that...

Some facts and trivia as it relates to the real world:
1:48 The M6D's 12.7x40mm round's case is exactly 7mm longer than the Desert Eagle's 12.7x33mm (.50AE) round, which was the most powerful production handgun cartridge in 2001 when Halo CE released. This is one of Bungie's most obscure 7 references.

Honestly, Halo CE has my favorite versions of all the Halo weapons. The shotgun, 12 rounds with a beautiful smooth surface. The AR with 60 rounds and 900rpm. The Magnum, nuff said. The flamethrower (for PC multiplayer only sadly). The sniper haha no recoil ever, plus it looks good. The NUKE GERNADE. And the rocket which I would say is the only weapon I feel like improved in design in 2 and 3 and in reach, but I like the huge explosive charge of CE. CE just all around has the best weapons. And the 2nd best Warthog only beat out by reach's

Id like to think that the MA5B was an older model, one that they went back to design wise in H3, to that of the one from Halo Reach. Its a similar thought process to why Reach ODSTs dont use H2 ODST gear
Just so you know the BAR is not chambered in 7.62. It was actually chambered in 30-06. A much larger round with a much greater kick. This was done so that BAR operators could share ammo with regular riflemen who used the M1 Garand which was also chambered in 30-06.
Dumb fan lore my cousin and I came up with for why the Magnum is so OP in CE but after that just kind of..... meh. The idea is that Captain Key's pistol is specially modified, as on LASO difficulty it can 1 shot a grunt in the head, and that after Halo CE, Chief looses the pistol, which is why in every Halo game after that the pistol/magnum isn't super powerful.

Lore theory, because of the fact that humanity lost so many planets and lost reach and was probably in an economic crisis, in later games that take place after CE the budget for the weapons was slashed and variants of the guns made later on were of less quality and able to deal less damage (sorta similar to how in wwii the Italians, because they couldn’t afford any more of it, had berretta make a worse version of the high quality MAB 38 sub machine gun)
That would explain halo 2-3, but doesn’t really explain halo 4 or reach, I would also mention halo 5 but ironically I think that the weapons in that game on the UNSC side are far more powerful than in halo 2 and 3, like especially the magnum, plus it seems in canon they started putting the CE magnum back into production

I’d argue the the Halcyons were obsolete. The only reason the Pillar of Autumn was so good is because it was chosen for a mission to attack High Charity and so was given tons of upgrades not found in the original Halcyons. In fact the Pillar of Autumns upgrades are the basis for the UNSCs newest cruiser line, the Autumn class.

I have a question and this has been a question I have had for a while, but in halo ce the elite minors and elite sergeants have orange lights on the back of their arms and legs, but the spec op elites and field commander elites have blue spots on their arms and legs. In halo 2 however, this was changed so that all elite classes have orange spots on the back of their arms and legs, is this just a simple design choice or is it a lore based concept(?).

The flamethrower and fuel rod gun is in the mcc version of Xbox one but you have to change the mode to heavy weapons
