The spring loaded catches switch the flexvolt battery into 54v mode, as they are in 18v normally.

Hi Dan. I've just purchased one of these. The clasp tightens very well for the lower shaft which you attach yourself. However, the upper shaft won't tighten enough and there is circular and lateral movement. There's also a metal bar which is listed as Rod, lock on the contents but there is no further mention of it. Any feedback you have would be really helpful.

I have some spare 2 mm plastic cord from my previous strimmer, (Stihl - petrol), is it possible to use this to refill the DeWalt cartridge, please ?

Yip. I think it is 2.3mm and below but we have used 3 mm

Is the 18v that bad you can get a 3 year guarantee via dewalt, is the handle that bad ?

wow. thanks for this. great video! I was thinking of getting the 18V DeWalt... but that's not happening now that I saw your 6 month old one. During your video I started to consider the 54V... but given all my old batteries are not going to work, I'll give that a miss too.... so I need to find a different brand now :-) -My current trimmer is about 10 years or more.... and still in good condition and working well... (but I think its time to go electric). Thankyou so much!

There is a new option, the split shaft one by DeWalt is brilliant. It has the better grips and takes 18v batteries
