    would like to chime in on this. for the record its acidity vs alkalinity. wheel brightener is a nice product if you know how to use it. it will damage magnesium and uncoated wheels because of the reactivity of acid with bare metal. wheel brightener appears to be a weaker version of what i used when i detailed professionally. we used a straight wheel acid, hydrochloric i think, to rejuvenate used cars for resale. we also had a highly alkaline wheel cleaner to use on wheels that were not safe for acid, uncoated. meguiars doesnt really advertise this product because it is a professional product and you are susceptible to user error. if you find yourself a highly alkaline product, be careful because it will burn your skin. ultimately anytime you choose a wheel cleaner you need to understand the anatomy of the wheel, just be careful with this product. diluting is a good idea, also spraying it on and immediately rinsing it off works good too.

    I am a 16 years old and have owned a full service mobile auto detailing company in south Florida for 3 years now. Just discovered your channel and subscribed. Your detail philosophy is so similar to mine! I loved your talk at the beginning about the wheel brightener! You nailed it! I also watch Darren Priest with Auto Fetish Detail on TH-cam. Have you watched Darren's videos at all? I love his channel. He cuts the B.S. and tells it like it is like you do, your words sounded familiar to his so I was just curious if you follow him at all. Congratulations on your business, it's nice to see another young kid getting out there and making it happen like me! My friends think I'm crazy. LOL

Yeah I like Darren priest and the auto fetish channel… Though I don’t have a lot of time to watch TH-cam videos these days myself, I know that he cuts all the BS and tells it like it is and I love that! Makes it a lot more easy to watch! Let me know if I can help you in anyway man! Thanks so much for subscribing

      Wilson Auto Detailing Okay, thanks for the support. I heard you mention "pre-med" school in the video. Are you in school to be a doctor or something and detailing part time while in college? (I think that's going to be my plan.)

      I actually was on a pre med track for about two years, but I am a christian and knew God was calling me into full time ministry, so I am double majoring in Spanish and Communications now, and growing a couple different businesses including my detailing business in Middle Tennessee!!! Thats an awesome plan man!

    Great video and very informative. I'm not a professional detailer or car cleaning expert, but I have been cleaning cars / trucks for last 40 years so that gives a level of experience and expertise that I's like to share. Many of the products I seen endorse in these videos work great, including this one. But they are somewhat expensive and harsh. Not to mention, do not get this stuff on your paint or unfinished aluminum or certain wheels.
    I've been using Simple Green for over 20 years and there isn't a better wheel cleaner out there that it. It' costs much less than all of the other products that are designed for one thing and it is also an excellent tire cleaner and de-greaser. One gallon of concentrate costs about $12 and can be cut 3-to-1 to make 4 gallons of cleaner. It works just as good as anything I've seen in any of these videos, and is harmless to hands and car finishes; and you only need to use on product for tires and wheels instead of two.
    Try the Simple Green. Its cheap, fast, safe and very effective....

    So, congrats to Darren Priest who managed to create so many followers.

    One correction should be mentioned here. Just because the container is plastic does not mean that the product is not acidic. There are types of plastic, teflon coated plastic, for example that are safe for acidic products. I'm not saying this means this product will be harmful, I have it myself. I'm just saying you can't say a product isn't acidic because it didn't eat through the plastic. I always throw out the reference to watch one of the first episodes of Breaking Bad, where Jessie buys the wrong plastic tub and not the one Walt told him to get. They went to dissolve the bodies in acid in the plastic tub, and if you've seen the episode, you know what happens next.

      both have different uses. acid cleaners are really reserved for wheels that have been neglected. if you can’t get a result in two passes with a regular wheel cleaner it might be time to break out an acid based cleaner

    I my mind wheel brightener works with chemistry and detergents, while ph balanced only rely on detergents. An easy way to look at it atleast. A good detergent can also do a good job. Never used wheel brightener, but been happy with p21s and rim7

    Very true and learn a lot Luke. Everyone get freak out when they hear the word “acid” because they are dangerous like you see in movies. Also is it safe on Toyota Corolla machined alloys wheels with black-painted accents and will it harm cermatic coating?

    • @wilsonautodetailing
      @wilsonautodetailing  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It will affect the ceramic coating, but as far as wheels, anytime the wheels are not straight factory, I just go ahead and use a non acidic wheel cleaner just to be safe

    When a product States ph balanced I would believe it's balance relative to the pH scale which would make it neutral at 7. They probably use different chemicals to neutralize the product. At work I use sodium hydroxide to make a product more alkaline or sulfuric acid to make it more acidic.

    • @wilsonautodetailing

      Yes super clean in fenders as well with the sidewall of tires, and wheel brightener on wheels only. Spray all of it with water first to give some caution with the overspray that you will inevitably get on the wheels

    Hey man, have you ever messed around with any of that iron x or iron off wheel cleaner stuff? I currently use the meguiars wheel brightener, but I'm just trying to figure out if there's any additional benefits to using the iron off in combo with it. Seems by the videos I e seem that the wheels come out looking almost identical from both of them by themselves. Many thanks

    • @wilsonautodetailing
      @wilsonautodetailing  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      For sure man, personally I stick with the wheel brightener, just because it is so effective that anything that does not come off with the wheel brightener, is going to be something that cannot be taken off with product alone, so in order to simplify my world, I stick with the wheel brightener, but you are certainly welcome to test it out! It can't hurt! And I would love to hear about it if you do!

    • @wilsonautodetailing
      @wilsonautodetailing  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly, I don't have a ton of expertise in aluminum wheel polish only because it is something that I do so rarely, what I would suggest is go to auto zone, and pick up a more retail grade aluminum polish, see how you like it, and go from there.... I just barely ever have to do it that it is never really something on my mind, also my first instinct is to say that many many many of the aluminum polishes out there are very similar, so any way you go it will be a good result!

    Luke, while I'm a frequent viewer of your videos I cannot help but ask a question about Wheel Brightener sitting in a plastic bottle. Brake fluid also sits in plastic bottles and doesn't harm the bottle, but it WILL harm your clear coat. Different plastics react different with different chemicals. I'm about to buy some WB and I understand that it is safe; however, the rationale that it sitting in a plastic container means that it's safe seems to not be the whole truth. Am I correct in the assumption?

      Not really honestly! Best strategy, just take the nozzle off when your finished using it, spray all the solution out of the nozzle and tube, then put it back in, that way there’s not a bunch of acid sitting in the nozzle

    you should remove your explanation and misinformation about pH neutral products and the pH scale in general. Sulphuric acid comes in plastic containers. The plastic bottle that product comes in is coated on the inside with a coating that isn't damaged by acid.

    • @wilsonautodetailing
      @wilsonautodetailing  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That may be true about plastic bottles, I've never researched that in particular, but the information about the pH scale is not inaccurate, nor is the info about acids, bases, and pH neutral products. If the bottle does have the supposed acid resistant lining on the interior the point I was making still remains the same in that sulphuric acid is a dangerous chemical that one would not want to touch, because it corrodes skin, plastics, metals, etc... however the Meguiars wheel brightener is not an acid that is nearly that strong (or as acidic), and therefore it is not dangerous for your hands, and more importantly, the wheels of a car. Though I will certainly look into the acid resistant plastic lining that you brought up, that is very interesting if that is true, however the information that I gave about the pH scale really isn't up for debate, that's just basic chemistry

    • @JacobPrince12
      @JacobPrince12 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      that's simply not true. The pH scale goes from 0-14 not 0-12. Acid WILL eat clear coat over time, that's basic chemistry. if that acidic cleaner is left on for prolonged periods of time or not used properly, it will fade the clear coat that is why clear coats fade on cars, along with the sun and incorrect cleaning processes. I'm not saying it's not fine to use on wheels, all I'm saying is that you over exaggerated alot.

    • @wilsonautodetailing
      @wilsonautodetailing  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      hahaha its all good man, yes the scale is measured 0 to 14, I just mis spoke, but we can agree to disagree and there is certainly no obligation to watch any of my videos, so I wouldn't worry about it, thanks for the comments

    • @JacobPrince12
      @JacobPrince12 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You're right, I'm not obligated to watch any of your videos. However, as someone who is trying to be informative it is important to actually be educated in the subject. Comparing a chemically resistant plastic bottle to a vehicles clear coat is complete misinformation. Like I said, it is a safe product as long as it is used properly, but it cannot be said to he completely safe.

  • @peteshelby21
    @peteshelby21 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ok Well put together video and I always like your enthusiasm. But do NoT downplay acid base wheel cleaners and say they are not harmful it that strong. You inhale it long enough and get in your eyes yes it will mess you up. And if not used correctly on wheels it will mess them up. So to anyone watching this video. It is harmful to a point. Also Mentioning it doesn’t eat through the plastic?? Umm Hydrofluoric acid won’t-eat through plastics and it is I believe 2nd or 3rd most corrosive acids in the world that will eat through metal and eat your flesh to the bone And majority of wheel acid has small amounts of hydrofluoric acid it it. And thats why it can be very harmful if not used correctly.

      Mark H Hello there, irrelevant and insignificant party. Thank you for leaving a comment on a comment that half the world couldn't give a rat's ass about. Shows what little brain power and little meaning your life has. If you should know: 1. You leaving a comment and the way you worded yourself made it seem as though you had the intellect of a pouting three year old. 2. I watch Wilson's Auto Detailing almost frequently, so there's no reason for a three year old to get upset. Get your facts straight and check your privilege. I enjoy his videos and come back to them for reference when there's something I don't know to do when detailing my customers vehicles. 3. You simply became a fanboy ready to get into it with the wrong one. If I were you I'd reconsider my manhood and weigh my options in life. Because apparently, you weren't ready with how immature you sounded, Mr. Three year old. So, before I go back to doing my business, I'd like to say, "DON'T COME FOR ME, UNLESS YOU'RE READY FOR THE CONSEQUENCES!" Good day, and I'm going to go back to what really matters in life.🖕
