Lost footage of Liverpool city centre cinema which closed its doors in 2008

- Hundreds of cinemagoers once packed into the Odeon on London Road for first dates and family nights.
The lost city centre cinema showed countless classics up until its closure in 2008 when it was replaced by the Liverpool ONE multiplex. The old Odeon may no longer be around today but you can take a trip back in time with this fascinating footage from 1999.
The footage was taken inside the London Road cinema by Alan Ditchfield who worked there from 1996 up until its closure in 2008. Everything from the snack bar to inside the projection room and the screens themselves can be seen in the footage, which shows what the cinema looked like before it underwent a refurbishment in 1999.

I remember queuing outside the odeon in the rain with my mum and brother we were first in the queue to watch star Wars like it was yesterday.
I remember the night Paul McCartney UK Premiered his "No more lonely nights" Movie there back in 1985! Also Remember the Odeon girl who presented Paul and Linda flowers on behalf of the cinema , i think I'm correct in saying it was on local TV but carnt find any footage of the night 🤨 All ended up opposite in the Lord Warden pub 👍👍

I worked there when it was a Twin Cinema. Great days.
We paid to go and watch short circuit and then ran in the other screen and watched cocktail.. Best day of me life 🤣🤣🤣

I worked there for a while around this period. All I can say is Odeon blew a fortune dolling this place up and then promptly knocked it down and moved a few years later.They must have had money to burn!
