If she didn’t protect the child while in the water she could have survived, and yet she saved him even though she knew that if she would left him there, he would not be able to survive without help. So basically you would Corner them to spear at your kill and if they don’t want to be killed by you they jump off the cliff and kill them selfs . They all risk their lives to return a human child to his people, the most dangerous species on the planet. Four dodos are boiled to death and about a dozen fall off a cliff. Another saber-toothed tiger is impaled by icicles. That is one twisted movie.
Personally I think that Manny was going in the opposite direction to all the other animals because he wanted to die. As all the animals said, going south was the only way to survive from the cold and starvation. Manny knew that, but he continued to go north because he didn't want to live anymore

This movie is a very good story about Chosen families. Diego originally belonged with his pack where we would ofc assume he'd belong to. However he stumbled upon another kind of life with this group of different animals and he found home amongst them, others who really love him and accept him. It's lovely and so important and accurate and this movie is 20 years old man!! You CAN choose your own family. If the one you were born into or otherwise ended up in doesn't accept you, there are others who will and you can find them 💗 stay strong
It's interesting to think about Manny's backstory, he's bitter/heartbroken about the loss of his family but he understands that the humans needed to hunt to survive. In the end while it's mentioned later(in another movie) he's probably scared to start over again he was able to find peace in a sense thanks to returning the baby. These three are a weird pack/herd but they bring out the best of each other when it comes to their journey to help a baby. Funny enough I've heard people say this is kind of like this one anime movie called Tokyo Godfather were three homeless people struggling with their own personal issues try to return a baby they found left alone. Since you mentioned anime it'd be interesting if you tried Houseki no Kuni/Land of the Lustrous it's a 12 episode anime for a manga that's still being worked on. It'll likely never get a sequel anime(took them 3 years just to make this) but it's worth a watch. The studio also made the anime for Beastars & Trigun Stampede, animation might look a little odd but it works(especially given how everyone looks in the manga) & the effects a beautiful.
I really love and adore this movie i use to watch this movie all the time. My favorite character is Diego the smilodon he is a very good character. You watch the rest of the ice age movie franchise those movies are amazing too.

About the humans not speaking: The way their faces look (especially the dad's) they might be Neanderthals, who (very likely) did in fact not yet speak like we do. :) They likely had some sort of communication past gestures and the like though, simply because they were coordinated enough to hunt large mammals and develop special types of stone tools. In fact, today it's assumed that the parts of our brain responsible for stuff like engineering etc. are likely leftovers from our Neanderthal ancestors. :D (Source: I'm an archaeologist irl and ice age & human evolution is one of my favourite topics of interest :3)
Sorry but I can't keep quiet when people talk about film composers. This soundtrack is from David Newman, he comes from a big film composer family and makes beautiful work! Hans Zimmer did some great soundtracks but now it's more synth stuff with the same old chord progressions over and over. While he is still good of course, people praise him too high imo and ignore all the other ones who do excellent work and dig deep and also really serve the stories with their score. So for everyone reading this: appreciate David Newman's work here. Film composer are oftentimes so overlooked and it's a true shame.
This is such a Wonderful family film! I never seen those back in tears when I was a kid. And I kept on asking myself will there be another one. I know a lot of people have different opinions about the last films but I would say just do it for the sake of it. But it’s your choice.
This franchise should’ve ended as a trilogy along with the shorts. The 4th movie has some decent moments, but that’s where the franchise began to understate its welcome, but the fifth movie was worse since they were completely out of ideas. :( I could be sure that Blue Sky Studios originally intended Ice Age to end as a trilogy with Dawn Of The Dinosaurs as the last movie since Manny’s story comes full circle, but the soulless higher ups of 20th Century Fox forced them to make more sequels in order to buy the studio, like if Blue Sky’s non-Ice Age movies like Rio, Epic, or The Peanuts Movie weren’t enough😐😑 To me the 20th Century Fox higher ups were the blame for Blue Sky’s decline as a studio, and has gotten worse when Ice Age 5: Collision Course bombed at the box office spectacularly causing Blue Sky’s bankruptcy, even though afterwards, they continued to make non-Ice Age movies like The Peanuts Movie which was honestly the best animated movie adaptation of bringing Charles Shultz’ cartoon characters into 3D animation and staying faithful to the original source material without completely modernizing it like other animation studios fail to do with some other adaptations of the original cartoons bringing them into the big screen. We also have Ferdinand which was a decent enough movie, and Spies In Disguise (the downfall of Will Smith as the future sexual assault on Chris Rock😞) and Tom Holland was also great, but sadly bombed at the Box Office spectacularly and causing Blue Sky Studios to its death as a studio, and when Disney bought 20th Century Fox leading to *MORE* problems, Disney also ended up shutting down Blue Sky Studios, cancelling their next animation project NIMONA which’s an LGTB movie (which then got saved by Netflix) it made the biggest fans of Blue Sky including me upset and began throwing a lot of criticism and controversies at Disney for shutting down the studio. :(

Dodo birds were apparently smarter then their reputation suggests, the main reasons they went extinct was from habitat loss and over harvesting.

You are the highlight of my lunch hour
This is such a Wonderful family film! I never seen those back in tears when I was a kid. And I kept on asking myself will there be another one. I know a lot of people have different opinions about the last films but I would say just do it for the sake of it. But it’s your choice.

This franchise should’ve ended as a trilogy along with the shorts. The 4th movie has some decent moments, but that’s where the franchise began to understate its welcome, but the fifth movie was worse since they were completely out of ideas. :(
I could be sure that Blue Sky Studios originally intended Ice Age to end as a trilogy with Dawn Of The Dinosaurs as the last movie since Manny’s story comes full circle, but the soulless higher ups of 20th Century Fox forced them to make more sequels in order to buy the studio, like if Blue Sky’s non-Ice Age movies like Rio, Epic, or The Peanuts Movie weren’t enough😐😑
To me the 20th Century Fox higher ups were the blame for Blue Sky’s decline as a studio, and has gotten worse when Ice Age 5: Collision Course bombed at the box office spectacularly causing Blue Sky’s bankruptcy, even though afterwards, they continued to make non-Ice Age movies like The Peanuts Movie which was honestly the best animated movie adaptation of bringing Charles Shultz’ cartoon characters into 3D animation and staying faithful to the original source material without completely modernizing it like other animation studios fail to do with some other adaptations of the original cartoons bringing them into the big screen. We also have Ferdinand which was a decent enough movie, and Spies In Disguise (the downfall of Will Smith as the future sexual assault on Chris Rock😞) and Tom Holland was also great, but sadly bombed at the Box Office spectacularly and causing
Blue Sky Studios to its death as a studio, and when Disney bought 20th Century Fox leading to *MORE* problems, Disney also ended up shutting down Blue Sky Studios, cancelling their next animation project NIMONA which’s an LGTB movie (which then got saved by Netflix) it made the biggest fans of Blue Sky including me upset and began throwing a lot of criticism and controversies at Disney for shutting down the studio. :(
The most recent Ice Age film in my opinion is not worth the watch. I’d stick the previous films from the first to the fifth.
The forth one was good too. Don’t worry bout the fifth and up
