- This is our Group Reaction & Review to ICE AGE. On Earth 20,000 years ago, everything was covered in ice. A group of friends, Manny, a mammoth, Diego, a saber tooth tiger, and Sid, a sloth encounter an Eskimo human baby. They must try to return the baby back to his tribe before a group of saber tooth tigers find him and eat him.

Might be wrong, but I think the first four movies performed massively well. Definitely internationally (outside of the US, which is weird me saying that since I'm from the UK lol).
Collision Course didn't perform too well, but I think it would still be the last one even if it did.
What’s your favourite I would say mine is the 4th one because of Sid’s grandmother who is so funny😂

Something I just noticed. Where Sid was looking at everything in the ice, they all represent the different Ice Age movies in order. The fish, Meltdown. The dinosaur, Dawn of the Dinosaurs. The evolution, Continental Drift. And finally, the UFO, Collision Course. I haven't noticed this at all even though I watched a couple of reactors watch this.
I'm gonna put this with a spoiler warning just in case, but another great bit of foreshadowing I like is how each movie has a comment made that foreshadows something about the following movie.
In the original, global warming is brought up.
In the Meltdown, someone asks about the dinosaurs.
In DotD, Ellie says she can't wait to see how Manny handles their (then) upcoming child's teen years.
In Continental Drift, Diego says that Sid's family got wiped out by an asteroid.

This movie is so amazing, especially two things I like the most:
First: Manny is such an incredible character: humans killed his wife and his child and he still brings a human child back to the father, just fantastic!
And second: when the father gives the necklace of his wife to Manny. He gives the only thing that reminds him of his wife to the one who has brought him the most important.
I don't know, but even as a kid I always found these two facts magical and just wonderful!
But one thing makes me really sad, everytime I'm thinking about it (little SPOILER for the next movies):
Manny won't wear the necklace in the other movies :( If he would, that would make my second favourite scene much more heartwarming!!

@@dextiemarie I think he was the father because when the flashback came, the father faded straight to Mannys face in the present. And ice age wikia also states that he has an unnamed deceased wife and an unnamed deceased child.
It's rumored that Manny wanted to kill himself on the cliff in the beginning because he couldn't protect his family. That's why he becomes a father for the human baby in the course of the film because he misses his own son.
I think it's quite a shame that he never talks about it, especially not with Elly later.
But whether he was the father or the child, his past is just so sad.
Because the one who made the first movie(that is an amazing director) is not the same who make the others movies. The first is the best with any doubts,i love also 2 and 3,the 4 and 5 sucks.

@Dextie Marie The child and mother were both killed by the humans. The humans were only surrounding Manny to keep him from saving them.

@AkinReacts Manny was the father mammoth 🦣 in that cave drawing. his wife and child were killed by those humans, the basic stoned them to death, he wasn't able to protect his family which is why he's alone.

37:29 those are geysers, a rare sort of hot spring underground that builds lots of pressure and erupts, which sends jets of water and steam into the air ^-^ I'd say pretty rare, but way back in the day in this time period, Earth was on some wild stuff so these sorts of things would happen probably more often than we know
The reason these animals look so 'strange' is because many of them are distant ancestors to animals we know now (horses, rhinos, elephants, big cats, sloths, etc...) A long while after the dinosaurs, this is when mammals really started to go about their thing and eventually after millions of years, evolve into what we're familiar with today

Shrek and now the Ice Age franchise, boy are you guys in for a fun ride. Heads up, for I had hoped at some point this baby would show up as a grown up at some point in the franchise and interacted with the three, humans dont show up in any of the next films.
33:38 For years i thought Manny was the kid and hadnt noticed the people above with rocks to throw down on them. Wasn’t until a comment on TH-cam that i learnt that. Oh and the reason for Manny going north rather than south, the theory is he most likely was wanting to freeze to death during the winter, so his family dying may have been more recent than we realize.

This series is full of extinct creatures from the time after the mammals so that’s why a lot of the animals look different.

😂😂😂 Deadpan humor at it's finest
34:18 Manny was the dad mammoth in the paintings. Mom with baby were killed when pressed to the cliff wall (that's actually what Soto was talking about at 38:51) and humans threw stones at them. So Manny couldn't have been the baby. Although we can say that the baby was a boy/male indeed because in a later movie Manny calls Peaches "his *only* daughter" meaning he never had a daughter before.
There's also a "fun" theory that in the begging Manny was standing on the same cliff under which his wife and baby got killed and Manny was about to jump off and commit suicide because of deep depression (or other mental problems) but Sid while escaping from rhinos interrupted him.
