A big massive shout out to all those that have watched this video, and the peeps that are going to watch this video. Without you guys watching, I would never have made it past the 1000 views. so a big thank you to you all for watching. take care, stay safe, and i see you in the next vid
There bound to be doing something with them. But I have to be honest and say, that I actually haven't heard anything yet. But ye, I would presume the epping ling would have one. Thanks for watching. Take care
I can't find anything about them (though frankly I haven't looked much), but I'm betting the IOWSR will probably grab one or two for the sake of saving them. Other railways will probably similarly jump on the opportunity too, but it will be a shame if any go to scrap.
From what ive seen and heard, one will go to IOW steam railway, and another to Epping ongar railway, which will certainly be interesting! Hopefully 004 Gets a new home aswell as the others! 006 and 008 planned to be the two, 006 planned for epping ongar railway. Hope This Helps! :D
@@UKTransport232 I have heard one is going to Epping. But I can't be to sure as I don't know for definitely. Thanks for watching tho. This vid has taken me by surprise by how many people have watched it. Take care bud, and we will see in the next couple of months what they do with them.
@@RobinPrice Both 006 and 008 are now going to the Epping - Ongar railway. 007 is destined for the IOW Steam Railway, 002 and 009 (the two decrepit ones in the sidings at St.John's Road) are to be/have been scrapped. That just leaves 004 (the heavily graffitied one parked at the northern end of Ryde St.John's Station) which has been given a layer of white undercoat, plans to install it as a static exhibit on the 3rd platform face at Brading have fallen through, the latest I've heard is that premises are being sought somewhere on the island to install it as a cafe or a B&B, nothing definite yet...
Will these go to the London Transport museum ? I wonder if the suspension on the newer trains be an improvement I visit the Isle of Wight every summer except 2020
Being replaced by British Rail Class 484 which were London Underground D Stock trains. They could've had the 1983 Stock trains years ago which were in service for only 14 years from 1984 to 1998 then stood in sidings for 17 years before being scrapped to clear the sidings for the Night Tube. But the D Stock trains are more suitable for a scenic route like the Island Line as they're bigger trains with bigger windows. That could have been possible. There were a number of units left to rot in the sidings at South Harrow (on the Piccadilly Line) which had to be lifted out by crane as they were unable to move under their own steam.
@@simonstanley9 Not surprising they were dead being kept outdoors for 17 years without being maintained. The train in Aldwych Station frequently goes to a depot for maintenance. It's a pity they didn't go onto the Island Line 20 years ago. But the D Stock trains are more suitable.
Yes, I wondered about the 1983 Stock at the time that they were coming off the Jubilee Line. I always thought it was a waste of resources withdrawing those trains after such a relatively short spell, but it seems that they had a lot of reliabiliyy problems with them, I wonder about the single leaf door issue though, as the D Stock also have these. Possibly a major hinderance to having them on the Island Line was the curved platform at Ryde Esplanade, one of the busiest interchanges; the longer carriage lengths would have made things difficult there creating extra large gaps between the train and platform edge. I believe this was also the reason why the possibility of putting them on other lines like the Bakerloo was rejected, notably Piccadilly Circus and Waterloo platforms posing the same issue.
Que va a pasar con ellos? Los van a desplazar?. Seria una pena. Es una historia similar a la de los metro de B.a. .que fueron retirados casi con 100 años de funcionamiento.
sorry to say but this line will lose all its appeal the day these trains are withdrawn they are the beauty of the line and replacing them with d stock is criminal they are the worst trains ever run on the london underground
The 1938 Stock couldn't last much longer. One train per hour became the norm for most of 2020, and even during the final weeks there were several days with a replacement bus service, as 008 (the one featured in this film) "died" on them early in December, and it was only after completing repairs on 006 and recommissioning 007 after its lengthy overhaul for its future life on the Steam Railway, that they managed to soldier on to the end. The engineers and support staff did well to keep the 20/40 minute service going through to late 2019, and then with gaps into early 2020. As much as we're sorry to see them go, it couldn't last.

It’s a shame to see them go but I’m happy that the d stock will be back again
You mean on tube :)))
box casa well any of the old tube trains are better then the new ones that are coming out
They've got till January 3rd thankfully - the new trains won't enter passenger service before Spring 2021, after the 3 month closure.
I hope at least some of these units will be preserved. Maybe on the Epping to Ongar Railway? Would be a crime to scrap them.

The are renewing the whole line bud. So I spose it will be a smoother ride. Thanks for watching. Take care and stay safe.
Great video, I must go and see them before they are withdrawn.
Well worth it.
Very
Probably sooner than you think, train service has just been suspended due to a fault on the one and only running train today.
I see they’ve added air filters in them?
:( farewell 1938 stock mabay you'll go to tube in a better life :)

I want the 1938 stock to go on the tube stock then we'll just add a new line to it

What? D stock is better than the 1992 and S stock and C stock imo. It was one of the most reliable train on the network
