At that point the drink etc had taken its toll and a hungry, energetic band w a phenomenal guitarist was just too much to 'compete' with. (I'd argue VH had 5.5 amazing albums, btw) No disrespect. BS & Ozzy got their 2nd winds (& I prefer Randy over EVH, personally) and proved their mettle.

His Bowie story about “buying furniture” is really great. It’s what made Classic Van Halen so untouchable: it had the lifestyle and the real attitude behind the music. You can’t just be a musician on the stage or in the studio, if you want to create something really powerful. Soundtrack to somebody’s life kinda stuff. You gotta live it and breathe it, because you’re gonna sound like how you live. Walk it like ya talk it.

Hey Dave, you are Las Vegas, I lived there and when I flew outta Vegas I looked down and saw a billboard with my picture on it. I must've done half of Peru there, I lived it, all of it. Van Halen was the soundtrack to my life. I have no regrets about my party lifestyle. It's music for after midnight when we're all guilty, I can only speak for myself...Guilty as charged. I just wanna say, thanks for all the good times.
Glad to see you posting. Missed you. One day my older son and I were invited to appear on a talk show discussing, after terminal illness, and you survive, then what. I said, I guess when they said don't bother to make an appointment, you won't be here, see your lawyer. I said, no matter how many hours, I will make them count. My son said, he had been a sixteen year old popular lead singer of a band and headed for the Air Force Academy, he wanted to follow his Dad's Uncle and fly, and also study law......you know Mom, I think I just said, limited hours, I just said party hardy........and he did. After three relapses they found out what was causing the cancer, it was the cleaning compound for the printers at Bosco. and later his jobs.........and he bought furniture!

I really did party like a Rockstar in the late '70's and the '80's. I've suffered from depression most of my life, but I love the blues, and Dave can sing the blues. I hope you will find a great nutritionist, trainer and do what your doctor says. Lincoln, Tchchovsky however his name is spelled, and even Einstein were famous sufferers of depression. In this past two years the medical people at the VA have found that depression is not always a mental disorder, it often is a disorder of the chemicals and neurological systems of the brain itself. I hope listening to the blues helps you cheer up:). Dave can sing the blues. He used to sing a lot more when he was doing open mic nights at clubs. My Dad and Mom were military and USO and Big Band, they used to dance in the streets for real, just out of joy of being alive, even when my Dad was in body casts after his many surgeries over the years. Later my Dad went along with his cousins on the Rez and loved the fifties songs of all types, many of them were in bands. And they loved country western, and western movies which always was strange to me since they were Native Americans........in later years my Mom liked the Doors. Especially Light my Fire. Most of my brothers. (foster and real) played in bands and my sister Linda and I knew the Doors from Linda's birth sister Leona being a dancer at the Whiskey and Gizarris. One of the big BE IN adventures in San Francisco Linda and I went up with some scientists from Cal Tech Y , and went to Filmore West. The Doors were unloading their equipment, so we said, HEY, can we come in and dance if we help set up for you. They said yes. The owner said NO after we had set up the equipment and helped them with sound check, and setting up everything. The drummer said that sucks, and paid our way in. ........I had a great friend that I used to call Eyore, he thought he was more Tigger.....but had deep depression from time to time. After his girlfriend died in a car accident we started a business on a small ranch for awhile, I put my equine therapy there, he was starting a prop business because he was a famous set decorator and always had to do something with the things left after a shoot......so wanted a place to catalog and keep them and rent them out. We had some fun adventures of the Money Pit type and decided to move closer to town than where the ranch was, but it was a fun time with the no water, the electric being mostly put in by the previous owners against code and having to be taken out.......then finding out that our lawyer forgot to tell us that we had to move out to come to court to sue the previous owner to fix the ranch and bring it up to code. But we had laughed our way through my divorce and his girlfriend's death and it was time to find life again without heart break! Take care of your heart. It is not too bad. My friend Chris got a pacemaker, and it helped him live more fully since he already had MS. He had been a surfer and Harley rider, and very active volunteer and real estate broker for decades. It was hard, but he started to volunteer on our Veterans treatment and housing program and was wonderful in his listening and inspiring the young high risk kids and veterans we work with, and he loved going out to dinner, and his wife did not, so Pat, and I got to go with him six days a week, and he sent the leftovers home too! For some reason one of my favorite blues based songs is Presley's Heartbreak Hotel. It always cheered me up to sing it when on a day my Dad used to say was "the shit is so high you need a straw to breath" .......and then he said, "just keep walking, one day you will realize the shit is gone, the rain has washed it away and a new adventure is down the road". Dave, I've been a fan since forever. Saw you at Monsters of Rock donington UK 1989. Have every album you can mention. Van Halen have eluded me all this time. I'm turning 50, so I've bought the show tickets and now the flights. I'm coming to Vegas baby!!!
I think he has sounded more like Dave on his talks, and in his charity shows and it works. If everyone sounded all the same, we would have those who sell millions of millions of albums to people who grow up and forget who those persons were, Dave is Dave and glad to see him doing what he loves. He made a minimum of a million per show for charity in his "practices".

I was a project Administrator at Cal Tech, they paid a thousand dollars a day for ten of us to take project development classes and learn to fund those projects. We used the class and information to help people build their own projects in all the areas we worked. And in their own lives. God bless.

I. worked safe streets for many decades. I went to the school to see why my sons were being beat up for being white in the schools my sister got beat up for being brown (Native American) no one beat me up, and my brother was six feet six, and friends with the Black Panthers. One night I was leaving the stable really late, and a small group of guys in those expensive plaid wool shirts, were walking. down the driveway, taking a shortcut to the wash where they crossed over to the Avenues. I saw they were wearing Lone Ranger type tied on eye masks...I pulled out my cell phone.......and pretended to be talking to a friend about how tired I was, having to come down and care for horses so late in the night, I smiled at the guys and said, it is really hard to come in so late for a sick horse, good luck. I knew they knew I knew they were not horse owners, and they knew. I knew who they were.....we smiled, I walked fast with my big dog Macs, and jumped in my truck and drove home grateful to not be killed. Later I found out the gang leadership had joined other gangster in the command to leave "the Teacher" alone. I gave free riding lessons to all their kids when they came down to the park.

She said, are you serious and even though muddy and. washed badly, he was recognizable to her as a purebred German Wire Hair Pointer. When she cleaned him up, he was a champagne Burgundy color, named because the dogs have hair that grows out with fluffy white ends that look like champagne bubbles. Her husband said, since she owned a kennel of champion show and field dogs...OH NO, you can not have another dog. Our mutual friend from Quail Unlimited said, oh, Liz and DJ are perfect, let me see if they want him, their dog just passed away. First DJ said no, he was not ready to replace Ginger. Then he said, OK You can have the dog. I called and the trainer said this is amazing, Macs is at the vet, I have to leave town for a show, and if you can go pick him up, you can just have him. I had seen him when I went to visit here kennel. When I went into the vet, it was chaos, that huge dog was running all around, he had gotten loose, he had all the dogs and people in a roar. Then he saw me, came up, skidded to a stop and sat down. I took him home. I named him Big Macs because he was big, and because he loved eating hamburgers. He was with me every day for thirteen years. He was a certified therapy dog..........I still miss him, even with six therapy dogs that I love and love me........yes. Big Macs ....always thoughts of love.

@@fearsomename2745 I am saddened to hear about your heart, but glad you are still around. At my age many friends have pacemakers, and congestive heart failure. I hope you will find a great nutritionist, trainer and do what your doctor says. Lincoln, Tchchovsky however his name is spelled, and even Einstein were famous sufferers of depression. In this past two years the medical people at the VA have found that depression is not always a mental disorder, it often is a disorder of the chemicals and neurological systems of the brain itself. I hope listening to the blues helps you cheer up:). Dave can sing the blues. He used to sing a lot more when he was doing open mic nights at clubs. My Dad and Mom were military and USO and Big Band, they used to dance in the streets for real, just out of joy of being alive, even when my Dad was in body casts after his many surgeries over the years. Later my Dad went along with his cousins on the Rez and loved the fifties songs of all types, many of them were in bands. And they loved country western, and western movies which always was strange to me since they were Native Americans........in later years my Mom liked the Doors. Especially Light my Fire. Most of my brothers. (foster and real) played in bands and my sister Linda and I knew the Doors from Linda's birth sister Leona being a dancer at the Whiskey and Gizarris. One of the big BE IN adventures in San Francisco Linda and I went up with some scientists from Cal Tech Y , and went to Filmore West. The Doors were unloading their equipment, so we said, HEY, can we come in and dance if we help set up for you. They said yes. The owner said NO after we had set up the equipment and helped them with sound check, and setting up everything. The drummer said that sucks, and paid our way in. ........I had a great friend that I used to call Eyore, he thought he was more Tigger.....but had deep depression from time to time. After his girlfriend died in a car accident we started a business on a small ranch for awhile, I put my equine therapy there, he was starting a prop business because he was a famous set decorator and always had to do something with the things left after a shoot......so wanted a place to catalog and keep them and rent them out. We had some fun adventures of the Money Pit type and decided to move closer to town than where the ranch was, but it was a fun time with the no water, the electric being mostly put in by the previous owners against code and having to be taken out.......then finding out that our lawyer forgot to tell us that we had to move out to come to court to sue the previous owner to fix the ranch and bring it up to code. But we had laughed our way through my divorce and his girlfriend's death and it was time to find life again without heart break! Take care of your heart. It is not too bad. My friend Chris got a pacemaker, and it helped him live more fully since he already had MS. He had been a surfer and Harley rider, and very active volunteer and real estate broker for decades. It was hard, but he started to volunteer on our Veterans treatment and housing program and was wonderful in his listening and inspiring the young high risk kids and veterans we work with, and he loved going out to dinner, and his wife did not, so Pat, and I got to go with him six days a week, and he sent the leftovers home too! For some reason one of my favorite blues based songs is Presley's Heartbreak Hotel. It always cheered me up to sing it when on a day my Dad used to say was "the shit is so high you need a straw to breath" .......and then he said, "just keep walking, one day you will realize the shit is gone, the rain has washed it away and a new adventure is down the road". God bless.

I think he has sounded more like Dave on his talks, and in his charity shows and it works. If everyone sounded all the same, we would have those who sell millions of millions of albums to people who grow up and forget who those persons were, Dave is Dave and glad to see him doing what he loves. He made a minimum of a million per show for charity in his "practices".

I. worked safe streets for many decades. I went to the school to see why my sons were being beat up for being white in the schools my sister got beat up for being brown (Native American) no one beat me up, and my brother was six feet six, and friends with the Black Panthers. One night I was leaving the stable really late, and a small group of guys in those expensive plaid wool shirts, were walking. down the driveway, taking a shortcut to the wash where they crossed over to the Avenues. I saw they were wearing Lone Ranger type tied on eye masks...I pulled out my cell phone.......and pretended to be talking to a friend about how tired I was, having to come down and care for horses so late in the night, I smiled at the guys and said, it is really hard to come in so late for a sick horse, good luck. I knew they knew I knew they were not horse owners, and they knew. I knew who they were.....we smiled, I walked fast with my big dog Macs, and jumped in my truck and drove home grateful to not be killed. Later I found out the gang leadership had joined other gangster in the command to leave "the Teacher" alone. I gave free riding lessons to all their kids when they came down to the park.

@@sunlion8866 That dog came into my life from a friend who knew my husband's dog had just died. A trainer had gone to pick up her dog at the pound, and the dog next to him was marked for put down. She said, are you serious and even though muddy and. washed badly, he was recognizable to her as a purebred German Wire Hair Pointer. When she cleaned him up, he was a champagne Burgundy color, named because the dogs have hair that grows out with fluffy white ends that look like champagne bubbles. Her husband said, since she owned a kennel of champion show and field dogs...OH NO, you can not have another dog. Our mutual friend from Quail Unlimited said, oh, Liz and DJ are perfect, let me see if they want him, their dog just passed away. First DJ said no, he was not ready to replace Ginger. Then he said, OK You can have the dog. I called and the trainer said this is amazing, Macs is at the vet, I have to leave town for a show, and if you can go pick him up, you can just have him. I had seen him when I went to visit here kennel. When I went into the vet, it was chaos, that huge dog was running all around, he had gotten loose, he had all the dogs and people in a roar. Then he saw me, came up, skidded to a stop and sat down. I took him home. I named him Big Macs because he was big, and because he loved eating hamburgers. He was with me every day for thirteen years. He was a certified therapy dog..........I still miss him, even with six therapy dogs that I love and love me........yes. Big Macs ....always thoughts of love.

OK now at 5 minutes he does a train overlay setup........forget the impressionist that used to do the train for a minute back around 1980 I don't know his name right now......he did the names of cycles as well.....whatever good for him like a ventriloquist kind of......good for him......well there is music and songs of course that point toward such.......and I happen to do those voices as well.......rail road prison gang chants even point toward the memory of the sound of the moving vehicle.......Texas And Pacific Louis Jordan(voice pate)........Take The A Train by Eddie Jefferson(voice plate) and everyone else as well......which also was a standard that got scatted on.......Oscar Brown Jr will always remind you of chanting(voice plate).......and the relative importance of such.......maybe he wants a golden toilet or a new scrub brush

That would make it unrealistic. Dave has always admitted to forgetting some of the words, even to songs HE wrote......let alone songs written by others, his little hmmmm. and other sounds that fit in those places make his music original and fun. God bless.
