You may not know much about this island located directly under India in south Asia. Although it was colonized three different times in history, and changed its name eventually from Ceylon, to its current, this is a very special country.
Sri Lanka is famous for producing tea, rubber, coconut, and exotic spices. There are beaches there are incredibly scenic trains, waterfalls, tea, plantations, and amazing food.
Yet less than 200,000 tourists visit this country each year. Now, trip was too short, and I would love to come back, but I had an incredible time.

I was in sri lanka last week for 10 days, and somehow managed to visit yala, sigiriya, ella, nuwara eliya, anuradhapura, polonnaruwa, habarana, wilpattu, galle fort and 3 days in colombo! İ loved everything about sri lanka

I'm so glad you came to our country. If you're planning to visit Sri Lanka again, don't forget to do some research beforehand, as there are tons of beautiful places here, such as Hanthana Mountain Hike, Sigiriya, Horton Plains National Park, Nagala Historic Temple, and many more.

Hello Chloe & Jade, Welcome to Sri Lanka. I'm living in Negombo, Sri Lanka which is a little close to Colombo. Ella is a nice city in a mountainous region of Sri Lanka and it's a cold city. Other Sri Lankan cities are hot ones. I hope you enjoyed Sri Lankan foods Chloe and Jade. I wish you both safety on the train and tuk tuk drivers may ask you more money. Tuskers Wasala and Walagamba, famous tourist attractions of Sri Lanka were killed by the same illegal electric fence at Tabbowa.
Although Sri Lanka ranks high in hospitality, it is a country with a very low level of animal welfare. As a Sri Lankan, I say that all those who love animals should point out to the world that Sri Lanka is an unfit country for animals to live in.
Because even though thousands of animal cruelty happens in this Buddhist country every day, there is no legal framework for them in Sri Lanka. Day by day the animal and forest population in Sri Lanka is increasing rapidly. Especially elephants and tuskers have become extinct due to human activities. But the law, government and responsible authorities are silent.
Why were these illegal electric fences not caught and prosecuted before elephants were killed.Sri Lankan elephant is a unique sub species found only in Sri Lanka. They are the largest of Asian elephants.
The elephant population stood at 5800 in 2011. Gestation period of an elephant is 23 months.
