My most wanted NES game is The original Zelda. I got into the Zelda series recently and I love it. Link between worlds is my first taste of a older style Zelda game.
Collectors have nobody to blame but themselves tbh. Prices wouldn’t be like that if people didn’t act like starving babies whenever new product hits the shelves
It costs the stores a pretty penny to obtain as well. Those vintage games that are over a decade old don't come easy or free for anyone. It's a reflection of the global market as a whole, but what else do you expect when the value of the dollar has deminished so much that burgers are $12-15 by themselves.... The problem isn't the supply/demand ratios so much as the problem is the fiat paper you use as currency is central banking trash/debt promisary notes. People complain about the pricing, but these items have been out of print for ages.
I have no retro game store in the town that I live in and was excited to visit a new one that is 40 miles away from where I live. When I arrived there I was shocked to see the prices. Most things were 300% marked up and in laughable condition. The store clerk knew very little about video games and they were selling hacked consoles full of pirated games. SMH! Just found a loose copy of Blaster Master at another game store in the same town. It was loose and in minty condition so I checked this one off of my want list at the big ticket price of $8!!!
Yeah me too. I was getting NES titles for like 50 cents and $1 off eBay back in 2001 to 2004. Even a rare game back then was only like 25 30 bucks. Some of the PS1 games and PS2 games for a little higher back then like the the RPGs. In all honesty though the people who ruined the seen are the people who make these videos. TH-camr destroyed gaming as far as im concerned but that's just an opinion and we all got one.
So I had some time to watch the whole thing and I have 2 more things to say: i’m fascinated that you brought up Silva Saga 2, because it actually has an English patch and way back in the day, like 15+ years ago I created a guide for the first game on the NES back on game FAQs. And also, you can see perfectly fine in the caves if you just use a torch or cast the radiant spell, you should give it a shot again, I think that you’ll really enjoy it!! Thanks again my friends!!
Bionic Commando is my favorite Nes game. Your right It can be a little cryptic at first. I actually watched a speedrun video that was a great guide. Bazooka is the only weapon you really need and you get it early on. You can't jump, but landing a grapple at the right moment in thrilling. Glad people can still add it to their collections cheaply.
Bionic Commando was one of my absolute favorite games as a kid. I loved the mechanics. You couldn't jump. You had to use your bionic arm to get around. Once you got that mechanic down, it was super fun. Also, I believe one of the guards called you a nerd at one point. Memory may be fuzzy on that one. It was like 30 years ago for me.
Glad you guys were able to find Ninja gaiden! Also, thanks for the recommendation on Rampage! Was able to find dragon Quest 7 for the 3DS and fire emblem engage for the Nintendo switch. Just over a hundred bucks. I was happy with that.
Been enjoying y'all going through this series. I remember finding Ninja Gaiden at a Goodwill so had to nab it. It was such a lucky find cause Ive rarely seen it since and its been years since then. Cant wait for the SNES parts next!
Agreed Dragon Warrior 1 soundtrack was good. I played a remake for the GBC that had 1 and 2 on the gamepack. My favorite track was the overworld theme in the first Dragon Warrior.
Such a bummer for the price on the mangled label Ninja Gaiden. Almost willing to donate my cheap copy to you that looks chewed on but the label is cool. Paid $7 for mine. Paid $15 for a mint copy. Im wondering if they replaced the battery in that Dragon Warrior cartridge and are trying to get some labor money out of it.
My most sought after game is probably NWC Gold cart. If I ever get my hands on one, I'd love to get it authenticated and in front of the guy saying its legit, smash is with a hammer and say "I don't even want this anymore" and walk out.
That is unbelievable... Seriously... If you need to have North American releases I understand but honestly, you should just come here to Japan and stock up with as much as you need regarding systems and games. With literally dozens of stores in most areas there is enough competition to keep prices at fairer levels. You would probably save enough to pay for the flight and hotel.
A burger costs $12-15 by itself. These decades old games that have been out of print for ages are fairly priced in today's market. It's not cheap for the store to obtain either. If you want a $50 game, you'll budget 3 burgers worth of debt promisary notes to obtain it if you truly value the item.
Bionic Commando was called Hitlers Resurrection in Japan and was full of Nazi Schwastikas. Its one of the most censored western releases ever made for any console. Can you imagine playing the original game in English?
Let them mark up. Don't buy. When rent is due and they have no sales, they will revalue their stock. Collectors are ultimately to blame for the inflated prices though.
don't you guys put resealable plastic on your games? especially on cartridge games because that'll prevent from scratching the labels and getting dusts
Mine's a tie between the Darkwing Duck or Chip N Dales Rescue Rangers NES games. I want them both but Darkwing Duck especially seems to be pricy in my local shops. But you want to talk about price inflations? The Pokemon games from the older gens are especially guilty of this in a lot of shops. Gamer shops seem to think because it's a Pokemon game it's automatically worth hundreds of dollars and inflate everything crazily. It's annoying for collectors like me who just want to play the games I loved as a kid.
@@JRPGLife Darkwing Duck was a fav of mine when I was a kid. I don't care what people say, it shared the same world as Ducktales and when I was a kid, it reminded me of a Disney version of Batman, basically. So I was biased in its favor because of that mostly. Plus, the game itself was just great for the day. Great gameplay, awesome sound track. I'm surprised they didn't keep making games for it on the SNES at least. I can understand a game's value going up if it's rare and scarce or CIB, basically never used and sealed. But Pokemon doesn't have the rarity excuse because it's literally been everywhere since it started. And because of its popularity and quality, gamers for the most part kept their Pokemon games around and in playab;e conditions since their inception. You're title is a little misleading. You don't talk about stores ruining retro collecting lol. Are you insinuating it because some charge more than others? I agree there are some overpriced games out there.
No they aren't. It's their property they're able to sell it for as much or as little as they're willing to part from it. It's people who are willing to pay those prices which keep them selling at the prices they are able to get away selling them at. Sorry but that's just economics. Supply and demand. If someone else is willing to pay more than you are for that cartridge, then that's the value of the cartridge. This is precisely because the cartridge is worth more to that buyer than it is to you who was unwilling to buy at the price the other buyer was willing to buy at. This is what happened with the car market the last few years. Don't blame the seller, blame the buyers. If no one buys at these prices then the prices will come down because they have to pay to keep their businesses going.
Glad you guys were able to find Ninja gaiden! Also, thanks for the recommendation on Rampage! Was able to find dragon Quest 7 for the 3DS and fire emblem engage for the Nintendo switch. Just over a hundred bucks. I was happy with that.

there's something extra evil about marking prices up when some people desperately want something. That's like mr krabs level of greed!

I like how the title and thumbnail had to do with about 20 seconds of the entire video 😂 I enjoyed the video nonetheless.
Haha thanks
I have Ninja Gaiden plus two in my sale inventory. I find it every where. You need to make it to Texas
We do need to game hunt in Texas someday! 😀
@@JRPGLife May I invite you to attend Retropalooza Houston in May. Memorial Day weekend

Awesome video!

Come to SWFL where I have all the games you need for non-ridiculous prices.
