  • In this video, Rich shows the benefits of using transitions in Melodyne. He describes the three types of transitions (Pitch, Formant, and Amplitude). He then goes on to demonstrate how transitions can shape a performance by using demonstrations of all three types. Rich also shows how transitions can be used to maintain natural sounds while changing the melody. Next, he displays the power of Undo in the Melodyne Context Menu. Finally, Rich utilizes the Separate-As-Trills command and transitions to fine-tune vibrato in a vocal phrase.

    A musician and tutor who is pitch perfect and so in tune with what is needed to teach a complicated piece of software and make it so understandable. Melodyne, in your case, not needed! Thanks.

    Great video series. Love my Melodyne Studio! This comes right when I was speculating, during a walk, about the possibility of applying this to some nice free strings sample libraries that have “long” notes, but not “legato” notes. What do you think, Celemony? I still have to try this, of course

    • @celemony
      @celemony  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There’s currently no dedicated vibrato speed tool in Melodyne, we’re afraid.

    Great videos, thank you. Is there one which deals with a vocal track which becomes distorted after pitch correction?

    • @celemony
      @celemony  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Mary, if you experience these kind of artefacts, then very likely this isn’t a clean and dry recording. Any room ambience or mic spill might introduce artefacts in the melodic algorithm. Also, doublecheck Melodyne’s analysis in Note Assignment Mode before you start editing, and correct it if needed. Hope this helps.

    Hi Celemony are all the transitions in the Assistant version?

    • @celemony
      @celemony  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, they are. 🙂

  • @houseofgraceworship

    When u moved the note up but then the Formant down what is the reason to move the note up? And the formant down? Why not the note and formant both to the lower spot? Why separate them like that? At 4:30-5min

    • @celemony
      @celemony  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Moving the note up (or down) will change the pitch, shifting the formants will change the overtone spectrum.

  • @Laser-rot
    @Laser-rot 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is there a rule of thumb for adjusting the formant? (for example if a note is adjusted X amount of semitones, then adjust the formant X amount of semitones.)

    • @celemony
      @celemony  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Melodyne already comes with automatic formant correction, so you don’t need to do any math. 😉

    When I right-click on a sustaining note with vibrato and point to "Note Separation Tool," the option to "Separate Notes as Trills" is grayed. I'm using the Studio 5 version. What is the trick to making this feature work?

    In ARA, I don't have gold lines and the cursor doesn't change like you're demonstrating in this video. Also, in ARA, the TIME feature does nothing. Is there something I'm doing wrong, or are those features not implemented in ARA as of yet?

    When I drag the formant bar in a note up or down, the gold line that represents transition between notes does not appear. I'm using the Studio 5 version. I see that it works for Rich. Can someone lend a hand and tell me what I am overlooking?

    • @celemony
      @celemony  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Pitch Transition lines only appear when you have the Pitch tool selected. This is what Rich explains around 3:43. Does this help?

    Once Melodyne has been added to the vocal, can you re-sing a line that needs fixing? If so, how is this accomplished?

    • @celemony
      @celemony  ปีที่แล้ว

      Why not trying to fix it with the help of Melodyne? If you decide to re-sing it, then Melodyne needs to analyze the vocals again. If you have further questions, please contact our Tech Support team, they will be happy to help: www.celemony.com/support

    • @celemony
      @celemony  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Baran, actually Melodyne already supports ARA with M1 chips! You might have tried it with Logic which indeed doesn’t support ARA yet on the latest Macs. We’re all waiting for Apple to fix this in one of their updates.

    The singer should be doing what is desired so there is a true performance with FEELING! This artificial performance sounds cold. Think about the live recordings on all the albums done by Led Zeppelin back in the days. They had all kinds of character with very deep feeling. There are so many examples that could be made from so many different kinds of music to show this from so many singers. I want the human feeling and character that comes from the heart!
