Fantastic work ladies, you are both an inspiration. After retiring early almost 3 yrs ago I decided to get fit again. On May 16th I started walking as I wasn't fit enough to run and suffering with pain in my right hip. I bought a running watch and to my horror I realised I had been averaging less than 800 steps a day. Although not yet pain free I have been able to walk more than 5k twice this week. I will be walking my first Parkrun next Saturday with my Daughter with a goal to be able to run 5k by Aug 6th.
Good for you on all fronts - you’re doing awesome! Keep up the incredible work, just think what you’ll be able to achieve this time next year! Be safe friend 💚🌻
What an effort ladies that's some incredible times! My current 5k goal is just to hit below 30mins, I'm only a few months into this whole running journey and loving it all. Thanks for all the great inspo guys! ...And those shoes 😍
Congrats girls you both are really inspiring! I went into 2022 wanting to finally get a sub 30 which I achieved back in Feb & my current PB is 27:09! 🥰 I am now after a sub 25 xx
This was an awesome series, I really hope you do more like it! As a side note, I'm a couple of weeks behind, but I tried to follow in Alice and Sarah's footsteps and trained for 5k too. My first park run 5 weeks ago today, I ran it in 23:34. Today I ran the same parkrun in 21:27. Thank you for the inspiration!
This was so inspiring! Currently following my garmin 5k plan, hoping for sub-25 by the end! Managed a 24:49 a few weeks ago but that was definitely a fluke!
I'm doing a Garmin 5k plan too. Coach Greg seems to have less confidence now but with better sleep and nutrition and as it's a timed race, have fingers crossed.
Well done - you are both winners as my wife said when we watched this conclusion together. She’s well on her way with her Couch 2 5K and we both watch the Running Channel together for inspiration coaching and of course entertainment. Keep up the good work!
both great results. speed work isn't easy but does get results. I'm currently aiming for under 20 mins 5k myself with a similar starting time to you girls. I'm a few weeks out before my big effort park run.
I watched the RC video when you started your training for this 5k & have been waiting for this to see what is possible in just 8 week of training. Hats off to both of you for a fantastic achievement.
We’ll done ladies! This is making it easier to sit here on a Saturday morning and accept this as a well deserved and needed recovery day. Your times and improvements are remarkable and I’m sure that even more so are the great feelings of striding along faster and stronger. Thank you for the encouragement.
Wow, a sub 20 5K! Congrats! That was my goal too 7-9 yrs ago and i fell short. 20:17-19. Now i just want to be able to do a 25min 5K and i'll be very happy.
Absolutely fantastic result all round - it shows what full commitment to a training programme achieves, even a relatively "short" programme. I hope others are just as inspired by this video series to set a goal and go for it with equal determination!
Well done to the pair of you! Just starting running in January and half started my 12 week plan to my first half marathon race, ran a baseline trial last week at 1:55 so hopefully with a structured plan I can take some time off that. Love the videos keep up the good work!
i too recently tested my5k time at Parkrun, my first time and I'm chasing that sub 21 with heartache (not literally) but finally today I got it on the clock at 21:00. so I know the feeling of getting that PB after long weeks of hard work. Well done ladies it was amazing watching your journey, Sarah I predict 20:50 for Sarah and Alice around the sub 20 min mark maybe 19:50. Goodluck with the race
@@fourierxfm thanks man, I feel like it's already in the bag as the park run is on more of a cross country terrain with a couple of hills. so I know for sure that I will be able to do it on a flatter course. but I think racing on hills has been helping a huge load.
@@MELODICMAJIK They say hills are speedwork in disguise. In 2019, I set PRs in the 5k, 8k (my nemesis), and 10k events after training in the spring and summer on some grueling hills and very few track workouts. I think you've got the right idea!
Well done to both of you! Love how Sarah commented on not forgetting the larger picture, the improvement you make over the course of time even when in the small picture you don't always see it.
Awesome! I had empathy nervousness for each of you. It was great that there were folks around the track to cheer and support you on the run. Well done. Chapeau!
Congratulations to the both of you! I love that you not only talk about your training drills but also how you have developed your mental strength throughout the 8 weeks. Would be interested in seeing a 10k video challenge next!
Congratulations Alice and Sarah, absolutely amazing times and fantastic job over the 8 weeks! 3 weeks into my half marathon plan aiming for a pb in September, so good to see how much a you both improved following a plan! 🤩
Such a great video and series! I usually prefer longer and slower runs, but this one's getting me hungry for speedwork. I'll give one of your training plans a go this summer for sure!
A fantastic achievement by both of you well done. I myself have done an eight week challenge on speed and endurance to bring my 10k times down. And I have done it I have broken the 50 minute. My new 10k time is 48 minutes and 56 seconds. For me I have found belief that I can do it has been the changing point. And joining a running club has made a massive difference.
I've loved following this challenge. When you first start running it's pbs every week but as time goes on we all inevitably plato, so this was so inspiring to watch. I couldn't wait for the video to be uploaded!! Well done to Sarah and Alice. U both smashed it 👊🏼
So well done ladies!!! Regardless of the result (which was incredible for you both!), you put the time in, put yourselves out of your comfort zone & worked hard!! You should be so proud of yourselves!!!
Well done, loved watching this! I’m thinking about chasing my 5km PB from three years ago now, will be tough but this shows what can be done with a focus over a few weeks.
Great effort! I have yesterday finished an 18week training block for a sub20min attempt 5k. PB was 21.29 set last year. Race is Royal run , Kolding, Denmark tomorrow. Wish me luck ❤️
Super congrats ladies!! So inspirational to watch. A year ago my 5k Pb was 20:45 and I was working towards sub 20 min but I’ve been unwell since January with repeated chest infections and it all feels so far away to get back to that level. Watching you makes me inspired that I can happen for me again 💪
@@lolskjrjfndksk one of the most motivating ways to train is find a partner to run with 1-3 times per week, who is about your same ability. Probably another girl around your age.
