    Need to see a video comparison of how this performs in all light conditons against gen 3 PVS14s (WP & GP) and the Aurora Pro/Sport.

      Mattias Olsen has a video, it’s not yet at the level of Gen 3, but even Gen 3 needs a little lum, I use them regularly, with complete cloud cover and no visible moon, if you’re out in the field you’re not gonna see shit. this is being marketed as a color night vision, so if you’re planning on using white overlay or green overlay, instead of that, I would just go with traditional night vision.

    • @austinvanstrate8993
      @austinvanstrate8993 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Also the Opsin doesn’t degrade, so it’s more of an investment than anything else. Eventually with traditional Gen 3, the image intensifier tube will become unusable, and that’s pretty expensive, however I don’t see regular people using 10000 hours of night vision unless you’re out every night all night.

      I think the better question is "what is the processing speed?" And "what do you need this for?"
      Driving and land nav? Probably fine.
      Combat? I doubt I would want it. Especially in CQB.

      The product is essentially a digital camera. It's already recording, storing and displaying onto a screen. The extra fluff you get costs very little make/buy but is a marketing departments wet dream. GPS chip for example can cost like 20 bucks. The price is just Sionyx hoping some sucker desperate enough to save a few 100 bucks will impulse buy the "almost good enough opsin" while a pvs-14 is a bit more for an order of magnitude better performance.

    Damn guys.. I thought this thing was gonna make a big splash when dropped in the market. Unfortunately, you guys haven't posted mush on it, and there's only a few guys that make videos on this thing.
    I bought a Gen 3 Elbit white phos in late November. I'm here waiting to see if this thing is any good to anolog so I can sell my 14 and hop on this product, but it's hard to do it with out any good information =/

    • @killswitch8653
      @killswitch8653 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Stick to your 14, if there ever comes a day when digital becomes supirior (which I highly doubt) it definitely won't be Sionyx changing the game and either way the military will probably be the only ones that will have access to that tech similar to how we couldn't buy gpnvgs until recent. You're gonna be waiting a hot minute for any digital nightvision worth choosing over analog

    • @MRD0889
      @MRD0889 ปีที่แล้ว

      @killswitch8653 so let me ask, why do you think digital will take that long ?
      And this is just an honest question.
      For instance, the last time I used a 14 was in 2014. It was a gen 2 green. I was obviously stoked that I had a PVS-14 on my right eye and was able to see in the night ( which was ass compared to my current Gen3 white phos)
      Now that I own this 14 and use it for fun with night shooting and also at work when I'm out in the effin boonies on a dirt road with low trees driving my freight truck lol
      I noticed. What makes this work for me and the money I spent is
      1 I have to see in the dark *duh* with or without some kinda of lightning. Even if that means moon, stars, or even my head lights with my iris device, some what closed.
      2. The picture has to be clear in the case of anolog. It's not issued to me. It came out of my pocket. I don't want any "blemish or imperfection on my zone 1 and if it's in zone two. It has to be small and as low to almost be considered a zone 3.
      3. I don't want Lag / Latency mainly because of the main task i use it for, which is when I'm working .
      Does the opsin really not meet those requirements?
      And I only ask because I've seen one guy on this platform that has convincing footage to show its good, of course I haven't used it so I have no idea if it's good to my eye.

    If anyone's going to shave down the latency on digital NV to close the gap with traditional optoelectronic tube optics, it's going to be Sionyx. I'm pretty sure the laws of physics ensure they'll never reach perfect parity but there might be a point of "close enough for the human optic nerve and brain" that I wish Sionyx success in reaching. I just hope they can maintain the pricing advantage even high-end digital enjoys.

    For 2600...no...you can get really good elbit gen 3 tube with high specs for 2300. If you want white phosphor there's elbit gen 3 around the 3k mark...PVS-14 are proven, since this is a camara there's is always going to be a delay. This might be good for static recon or observation ops...that's it but for 2.5x the price of the regular Syonx this seems a little out of market.

    i like to go larp in the sticks during pitch black in rainy washington state, cant see your nose 99% of the time so ive heard even gen 3 for 3500 will barely work for me, but for militia activity like security and patrolling my town/neighborhood the opsin looks like a pretty decent choice. just wish it was a liiiittle bit cheaper and id bite, because at 2600 i might as well just save up a little more and get some sort of pvs14 gen 3. drop the price to under 2k and im sure a lot more people will buy it. and no one will pay 320 for a 3 year plan, make it a free 5 year plan....

    This is not an intensifier tube which is the majority of the cost of night vision. You can not expect people to pay $3000 for a mono that has a resolution problem. Would be best shooting for $3000- $4000 with binos if not panos. Panos would be a game changer. However, my Vive Focus 3 business VR headset is equipped with four cameras. When I get too close to something they cut in and I can see in complete darkness with something like a 130deg FOV. To truly change the NV market stop doing things like traditional tube based NV and use what the 21st century provides us.
