Philippe was my first boss, I’ve learned everything from him during my apprenticeship. The Ferrari cars knowledge of this focussed and experienced man is unequalled. I visit him every time I come home to Clermont and still remember these 288 and 250 GTO on which we worked together on weekends… Thank you Petrolicious for sharing this. Let’s hope new generations will follow…
They were going to stop the videos and make it a paid subscription setup - this was a move deemed extremely salty to existing subs (myself included), a loss of momentum occurred and new sub numbers dwindled, coupled with a loss of existing subs. They relented thankfully.
Huh? They were going to keep the old format, and ADD paid content, and that is what they did. If you subscribe, there is another set of videos for you. The people who left were the ones who were salty because they could no longer get everything for free, even though they continued to get the old type of content for free.
Porsche 996 - maybe. I believe the original direction was to halt all videos and make it a paid subscription based content, while drip feeding YT with clips and ‘offcuts’ - vitaly style. The backlash was tremendous during that time. Remember nothing is for free. Viewers pay for an internet subscription, large channels such as this get money for views. TH-cam gets money off advertisers, advertisers get money of end users who use their promotion to pay for the goods etc etc.
Like most Ferrari fans, when I first saw these I didn't much care for them. But over the years, the wedge design has grown on me and I now consider it one of the most unique of the classic Ferrari's. Not to mention the fact they are one of the only classic Ferrari's where you can get a good, well cared for example for $60k-$70k.
Be quick as next big move F car. Engine is basically a 90 degree 2/3 size Daytona engine. Down to bore and stroke and internals, carbs. Just 8 not 12 and in fact more hp per lt than the Daytona engine so for its time a hot number and all Ferrari'100%. Even has race serial numbering from the factory so the intention from the get go was obvious.
I have a Ferrari 458 and it just feels so special, I feel so privileged and fortunate. its strange but you can feel the care that went into making it. It surely deserves taking care of and respecting the craftsmanship to make such an item.
Because of Philippe Gardette, I may now need to find one of these beautiful undesired Ferraris ... Discretion, class, dynamic, sobriety with great driving sensations . Thank you so much for this great video !
Such beautiful pieces of art. After all these years, still nothing does it like Petrolicious. Pure inspiration. True enthusiasts, true passion. GREAT video. FANTASTIC story. C’est Tres Tres Bon.
I entrusted to Philippe Gardette, owner of Auvergne Motor in 1997 my Ferrari 250 GTE of 1962 of which I broke the tapered couple… He kept my car for 3 years in his Auvergne garage while at the time, I lived in Paris. Impossible to recover it because it had dismantled everything, up to the Weber carburetors which had disappeared from the engine. When I called him to find out where he was reassembling, he no longer took the phone, even making me insult by his mother ... I thank today a friend of Club Ferrari who helped me out of this dirty business threatening him to no longer bring Club Ferrari members to have their cars maintained at his house if he did not return mine repaired. I got it back after a week, bevel gear replaced. I learned, a few months later, that my car had served as a parts bank… I have today sold my 250 GTE, disgusted by this world of this type of old car. I have since bought a Ferrari Dino from 1971 which I have maintained at the Plantefol garage in La Ferté Loupière… They reconciled me with the prancing horse…
This was my first Ferrari a 1975 in Chiaro blue over tan GT4. I loved it and never should have traded it in on my Countach 5000QV... My wife and I took the Ferrari everywhere and no one would know what it was, so I never got keyed like so many Ferraris do. It was not perfect but I loved its flaws and the sound of the intake was just awesome.
Ferrari now is a corporate mega brand with the way the cars are made I think extraordinarily purists like this gentleman will be fewer and far between. What a great man and awesome video as ever Petrolicious.
By all accounts I've read these were better handling drivers cars than either the 246 Dino or the more common 308. The longer wheelbase suited the car. A guy on the street where I grew up had one. Boxer colours, red with black base. In the flesh I remember it definitely looked the part. Unmistakably Italian and distinctly exotic.
Not exactly a fast car but a real beauty and it sounds wonderful. Plus it has the gated shifter so yes please. His shop seems so peaceful and right. It would be a great place to work I think.
Just discovered this Ferrari model on this video, such a beautiful car. Well done for restauring it sir, it's a work of art !
I love the 308 GT4. I love the way it looks and the way it drives. An early, Euro-spec, dry-sumped GT4 is one of the best Ferraris I've driven. Lightweight, immediate, responsive. Yes, yes. Pininfarina. Lovely stuff. There are also many lovely non-Pininfarina Ferraris - this one, several Vignale designs. Cosmetics - check. Then how about the way the car actually drives?

There’s a lot of Lancia Stratos in the 308 GT/4 design. And that is not a bad thing. If the car industry doesn’t go down in flames (iffy) I think these could eventually find legs in the marketplace and generate larger appreciation.
Basically he is a Ferrari mechanic, he bought this car because it was original and at the right price at the time for him,and he restored the car in its original color

So when is this video understandably subtitled? Can it be watched in several weeks? Could it please reappear then in my notifications, when it's ready to be understood? So either German or English subs please, because otherwise, the video is kinda worthless for me.

Retores car to showroom condition, drives it hard in the winter. My man!
This may seem weird to many people but this is actually one of my favorite Ferrari designs.
Not at all. It's beautiful and timeless. Cheers.
It's one for the man, not the investment banker, it's cool.
you're right that is weird indeed
Axel Reunis mine too
not weird at all I love it as well bertone is great
308 gt4 looks great in dark blue.
Exactly the kind of gentleman you'd want working on your Ferrari. Excellent video!
This channel should have 8 million subscribers. I say the current numbers .... still not justifiable for the quality of content.

I love how he just low key calls out Ferrari in their current state of cars at 4:40
This was truly Wholesome

As far as I know this the only Ferrari by Bertone and not Pininfarina. I think is beautiful
The first Ferrari I ever saw was a 308 gt4 back when they were new in about 74, I was 10 and and I fell for Ferrari that day...
I had only seen the GT4 in photos, didn't care for it, then I saw one in person and it is a beautiful automobile
Petrolicious back on form!
I’d like to be described by others as an outstanding gentleman one day.
so underrated!! except the Problems with rust a fantastic car

Fantastic video of a true enthusiast, and my favorite Ferrari.

great. A pleasure to see this emotional film
Why does the soundtrack stop at 4:24 min.? What a pitty😢
his satisfied smile at the end is delightful!
Awesome car! Sounds the business and you've got to love the wedge shape!
Excellent, cool dude, cool car! Thanks for this!
Everyone gravitates towards the "sexy" cars but the 308 GT4 is a beautifully proportioned car.
I love that car, I lo e that it is dirty too. He's not afraid to push it.
