I have this lens and have modified it to EF mount. I've updated the firmware on my viltrox speedbooster. My EOS M won't boot up with the speed booster + hacked efs lens. When I use a regular EF lens with everything works okay. My modified 55-250mm and 18-55mm have this problem. Any tips? Thanks in advance!
Excuse me if I'm confused, does it mean that with the EF-S 18-55 IS STM and EOS M, you get vignetting from 18mm to 24mm with and without a speedbooster? I don't see the advantage of the speedbooster here: it opens one step of aperture but we gain about the same in wider angle without it. And we can't use it up to 24mm 1:1 if it gives vignetting.
No speedbooster will produce no vignette at any focal length. With the Speedbooster it's fine, from 24mm and above. The benifits are mainly for crop sensor cameras like Mkcro or Four Thirds GH6, P4K or the M50/ EOS M in this case that have big crops in high resolution modes. You get a wider field of view without vignette in those crop modes. So the Speedbooster is a nice choice in those case.
Hi Zeek, how do you like the focus ring of this lens? How much of an angle is it possible to turn it? And what were the aperture aquivalents with the speedbooster? Edit: and how is the shallow depth of field? Is it possible to get a blurry background from one certain focal length? (I know it depends on the distance but usually on the wide end like 18mm I assume it will be tough to not have everything in focus all the time. Then the higher the focal length goes I would assume it gets easier). And totally other question do you know if the stabilisation is better than on an old sigma lens in comparison? I have the very old 18-55 2.8-4.5 and when walking with all the ninja steps I tried it's just not possible to get decent footage. It's okay to have some shake but it's shaking all over the place 🤣
Sascha Müller I love the manual focusing with this lens, it's not too quick of a focus through for a kit lens. Shallow depth of field is actually pretty good and depends on what mode you set for more DOF. Zooming out helps create that look and the Speedbooster translates from f3.5 to about f2.8. The Stabilisation is perfect, pretty much like the 55-250 STM. It will be better than the Sigma.
Haha, I hate this lens 😁 Image is always kind of slightly blurry (you can even see it here sometimes) a lot of purple fringe around bright objects, you can also see it here in clips, and overall just very boring picture... Hey Zeek. What speed SCXC card do you recommend for shooting RAW on the EOS M? I prefer to shoot exclusively in 24p, so do I need something around 170/MBps or 300/MBps? Thanks!
95/170 is fine. Sandisk Extreme Pro is good!
@@ZeekEOSZ copy that, thanks! Will a 7D do comparable raw video with the Eos M?
@@burresseffects No it won't, a 700D would or 650D.
@@ZeekEOSZ dude, you rock! I’m still shooting 1080 24p on the t2i I’ve had since 2011 lol. I’m thinking it might be time to add the EOS M to my bag.
Ey zeek I finally did it. I bought an eos m 😅 please tell which is the recommended sd card and format i start shooting in. Greetz from Bali 🙏🏾✨
Congrats! Sandisk Extreme PRO 128GB and above cards. 95BM/s or 170MB/s
Wowwee! ~2:25
Geeting, I have a problem with my monitor Zeek! I have a huge delay that makes it hard for me to focus accurately! Is it because of my cable or that's a problem on eos m?
What monitor are you using? I have no delay.
@@ZeekEOSZ Well, I think that's it! I have a problem with my cable, cause I tested that on my tv and my PC monitor and also my smartphone with a HDMI to USB adaptor and I had the same problem on all of them. I thought maybe it's a problem with eos m but it looks like, it's about the cable.
thanks zeek, Lots of love to you man ❤
Hey Zeek, I'm wondering if the Metabones speedbooster is worth it versus the Viltrox? I read that Metabones also has issue with infinity focus, but I'm not really sure if this is still the case with their latest update of firmware etc?
p.s i saw your other video comparing these 2 brands, and I don't mind the minute difference between the 2 brands. Just I've come across so many users complaining on infinity focus of the Viltrox. Thanks!
Metabones is more reliable and optically better overall than the metabones. I have had no focus to infinity issues. I prefer it.
@@ZeekEOSZ Thanks Zeek. I'm wondering how does the Metabones and Viltrox speed boosters fare, when it comes to heavy lenses? I have 2 lenses that's in the range of 500-600g each and I'm a little concerned, having read a user of Viltrox speed boosters wrote that his lens detached from his Viltrox speed booster, and fell on the ground.
@@forfilmssakeUK Connection is fine with both. I've used the Canon 70-200 L F/4 IS only, but no issues whatsoever. AF may not be the best on the Viltrox though.
@@ZeekEOSZ Thanks again Zeek. I reckon that you wrote above, that you prefer Metabones than Viltrox now that I read more into your latest reply?
Also, I also saw on 1 of your videos on how you fixed the infinity focus issue on the VIltrox speed booster ,but I read that once fixed as such to work on 1 lens, then a user might need to readjust the speed booster again to have the infinity focus work again on a different lens? Has this been the case for you?
p.s. sorry for lengthy question here, just am really deciding if it's worth spending so much more for metabones
@@forfilmssakeUK With the infinite focus issue, it's probably that the Viltrox glass has come out a but, you just need to twist it back into place and it will be fine.
With wider lenses, the Metabones is cleaner in the corners, closest to the original performance of the lens with no Adapter.
Hey Zeek!
Firstly thx for your channel and your amazing work.
You give a lot of precious infos.
You’ve tried the 5DMii and probably other canon’s cam.
Can you give a feedback on raw quality and user experience with these?
Eos m looks to be the most advanced device for ML?
Other idea: it’s time to create a discord place? It’s free!
I'd personally only go, EOS M/700D or 5D III if for full frame. I really do like the EOS M.
What about the 18-55mm kit lens that already comes with EOS-M?
Hey Zeek, what settings can I use a monitor and it not cause any recording problems or time limits. I want 1080p 14bit raw unltd time recording. Is this possible using a monitor?
Any mode has been fine tbh with monitors, though not via smartphone. 14 Bit is only good for 1080 mode or any resolution below 2.2K.
Zeek - hope u're well. Q> how did you rename your custom modes?
On the SD card, go to ML folder and look for custom settings folder and rename them there. 😎👍
@@ZeekEOSZ Can one do more than 5? I'll try anyway... thanx! Finally I got my head around most the cam! Big Video coming...
I just modded the normal version of this lens and I used it with my 6d mark 1, I was wondering If you are able to use this lens on a fullframe camera
Good stuff. I was dumb buying the Viltrox SB not knowing you can only use EF lenses.....unless
You know what works so 😅
Haha cheers 😎🙌💯
Zeek..try using camera stabilizer with eos m
Bmpcc 6K please
is there any way other than mlv app to process magic lantern videos?
review on dehancer please
Hello zeek, can 700d with Magic Lantern can be good as your eos M with ML?
Pretty much the same. The M has more lens options though and the 700D has a flip screen.
what rig d u use ?
alot of the Amazon links are unavailable =(
hi zeek, what series canon can autofocus (face detection) when paired with magic lantern??
It's only contrast bast focus, all AF lenses can face detect but it won't hold focus well at all.
@@ZeekEOSZ i need focus tracking in magic lantern, what about 70D? or any suggestion a good body? i have 24-70 L series lens
Hey Zeek! How can I record RAW via hdmi to my Black Magic Video Assist monitor? Thank u!
You can't. It's only internal raw straight front the sensor.
💜
QQ what's the lens id of your lens in ml?
Nice sir zeek . i hope we can shoot 16:9 slow motion 50fps
16:9 is about 40fps
Hello Zeek! I need your help! I recently bought a canon Eos M on eBay and I am trying to install Magic lantern, however, I need to install a 2.02 firmware update Before installing the magic lantern, But here’s where my problem comes in, There is no firmware option in the settings on my canon EOS M! Usually it’s kept in the fourth wrench of the camera settings but it is nowhere to be found and I’ve tried downloading the firmware on my SD card but when I put it in my camera it doesn’t pop up, At first I thought I needed to be on a certain mode, But no matter which mode I picked whether if it was video mode manual picture mode or the other mode it still was nowhere to be found! What should I do?!?
If you haven't found out yet, switch from the movie icon to the photo icon above the M.
@@ZeekEOSZ Thank you so much!!! I finally found it!!
Zeek can you fill me in how you filming this? Zve10?
Same setup as last video, but used the Tiffen Variable ND for the Sony ZV-E10
How does autofocus work here??
hey zeek, will it work on m50II ?
Yes for sure! 😎👌
Better than the 15-45mm?
I think the difference is that the 15-45 is ef-m means it has a lot more crop than a ef-s lens with the speedbooster
@@sarcasticfpv hmm I wonder what the math is let me check
@@sarcasticfpv you're right the speed booster is a good combination 💯
The 15-45 is very nice, but I do prefer the 18-55 EF-s because of this mod, also the manual focus feels better.
@@ZeekEOSZ yes despite being small, the 15-45 manual focus is annoying
Hello, is there an adapter for using canon EOS M camera lenses on canon 5D camera body
Unfortunately not
@@ZeekEOSZ Thank you, it seems that this is not possible, is this correct?
@@Abdulaziz_azh yes, not possible at all
Wondering if the EOS M shoot 240fps slow motion.
I wish. Not even the ZCAM can do that.
What mm nd filter u using 58mm or 67mm?
77mm
@@ZeekEOSZ 😱
This question is a bit off-topic, however, I would like to ask what memory card are you using to record your footage? Ahh.. found it in the describtion
Hi there zeek! Just a few questions, since i'm lookin' to buy an Eos M then rig it up with a feelworld touchscreen monitor,
WOULD the touchscreen on the monitor work with the EOS M? and would it also work with the magic lanter UI?
Thanks in advance!
It would yes 👍 Smartphones,.not so much.
Did you use mist or nd
Only ND, Freewell
I prefer 11 - 22 instead, hate to put adapter, ruins the compactness
I have the 11-22, nice lens 👍
I prefer Nikon lenses with EF Adapter, who need AF anyway.
Zeek looks like you've deleted your Facebook and Instagram, can you or anyone here help me, how to uderstand that camera is Eos M and NOT an eos m2 (looks like they are identical)
At the top of the camera, one says M the other says M2
My copy is absolute dog shite 😢
The Canon kit lenses get a lot of bad press on YT, from what I see totally unjustified.
Agreed. 😎👍🎯
