The Fierce Deity is probably my favorite piece of Zelda lore ever, even though I think it was originally just an excuse to somehow use adult Link's OoT model in Majora's Mask.
Kinda reminds me of when Super Sayain was only made so the colour people didn’t spend too much time on Goku hair because it would be ‘white’ in the comics
Just a head's up: according to an interview of Aonuma, Fierce Deity is based from Japanese folklore about a vengeful protective spirit born from the hearts of the common people. Which explains why you need all the non-transformation masks just to get the FD mask: the masks you collected contain the hopes and wishes of the people you've helped in Termina.
Those arent just kids. Theyre a Buddhist metaphor for the 5 eastern elements and 5 Buddhas (even the tree in the moon is representation of the Bodhi tree). By defeating the kid with Majora's Mask, Link achieves the Brahman his ultimate self. In this case, it explains why Fierce Deity looks like an adult Link. Coz its his ultimate self.

The spirit of the hero, what each incarnation of link is reincarnated with, is the spirit of skyward sword link, who again, has unlocked his ultimate self. I believe that the fierce deity is the pure form of the spirit of the hero.
As im finally getting to the legends map mode he is honestly one of my favorites. The magic meter mechanic just keeps him so interesting for me. Especially because he calls out his rival/friend skull kid for when ya wanna.
What is interesting about the Fierce Deity's mask is its the only mask with an 's. Which means it actually belongs to the Fierce deity, which according to majora is an evil even beyond him. Sometimes you need something even more evil to vanquish evil.

However you also have postman's hat, great fairy's mask, Don Greo's mask, couple's mask, Kafei's mask, circus leader's mask, Romani's mask, Kamaro's mask, Garo's mask, captains hat, and giant's mask. If you exclude the 2 hats you still have 11 mask with an 's.
They can and they will. I still hope we get to re-visit Termina in a future main Zelda game. I really like the idea of Link travelling to other countries in his Universe. Imagine an adventure spanning Hyrule and several other lands.

yeah they kinda dropped the ball with the smash ultimate final smash's. most of the sword fighters (and a few of the other character types) have a slight variant of Ike's great aether.

The Fierce Deity's Mask represents the morally nihilistic nature of the world of Termina. Outside of Hyrule, Link has no "chosen hero" status; there is no Master Sword to claim and no Zelda to guide him, both of which symbolized the inherent righteousness of his quest in previous games. He may still hold the Triforce of Courage, but there's no real reason to think that it has any meaning in Termina. In order to obtain the mask, Link must first give away all of the other masks which represent his good acts of service. He then talks to the fifth moon child, who gives him the Fierce Deity's mask, representing pure godlike power. The child presumably speaks for Majora since they wear Majora's mask, and dialogue with them seems to indicate that, like the Skull Kid, Majora is at its core a lonely kid figure. Majora-child tells Link "you're the bad guy" and things play out accordingly. Majora's forms have absolutely no chance against Fierce Deity Link. He mercilessly pounds away at Majora (who gave him the very power he is wielding), seemingly fulfilling the role of "bad guy" that was assigned to him.
I kinda disagree. Link is the hero of time. On OoT, he is a renewal and a new age free of evil. On Termina, he is the end. The whole game is about death. You spent the entire game avoiding death, in a way disturbing the natural order. Link does not give up in life and still brings a new age. As the hero of time, it is like he's giving a lesson. Time goes on. Even after your death, there will still be happyness and good times.
The Worst Fierce Deity: Super Smash Bros Ultimate. I would have loved to see Fierce Deity as an independent fighter or as a more detailed Skin like in previous Smash.

That’s why breath of the wild was shit. Don’t get me wrong. I played right through the game. I admire them diverging away from the typical Zelda format but I never believed it paid off. Bring back key items and better dungeons. I only thing I recall about the dungeon bosses is that they all had blue lights or something. Not even memorable.

BotW combat requires learning and timing all the various attack patterns, and sword/shield lynels are actually one of the easiest enemies in the game imo, easier than Moblins. Dodge and flurry rush to an easy kill even against golds. Learn that and the PRECISE timing to parry Guardian lasers and nothing in Hyrule will ever frighten you again

Since Link has existed for so long as the Hero of Hyrule, the amount of challenges he faced and the amount of time he honed his skills to face Ganon over and over it wouldn't be far fetched to say that Link's very soul has become that of a Demigod.

Of all the amiibos I ended up buying for BOTW, Majora's Mask Link was highly anticipated for me, simply so I could get a hold of that clothes set and corresponding weapon.
This video is exactly what I wanted, very in-context showing of everything! The rising trend of big companies doing multi-universe stories has me hoping for a main series Zelda that does that and only revisit Majora's Mask through that. I do want a revisit to Majora's Mask with new story, but a sequel would be hard to work out and a prequel just isn't what it needs.
One thing that hyrule warriors forgot is that the fierce deity is like 8 feet tall. Yeah i know its kinda hard to tell in the boss arenas but trust me he absolutely towers over basically every npc.
nice attention to detail in Hyrule Warriors that they reused OoT Adult Link's battle grunts for Fierce Deity because that's how he sounded in MM, but I fail to see why they didn't just grab the Fierce Deity armor WHICH WAS ALREADY IN BOTW for the Feirce Deity alt in Smash Ultimate
Hyrule Warriors absolutely captured the sheer power and ferocity of the fierce deity. My only complaint is that he’s normal height. One of the coolest things about the form is that link goes from a kid to a 10 foot tall war god

Get yourself an emulator, and use the cheats that come with it that makes it able to use the mask anywhere. Sometimes you just got to treat yourself on some good time. :)
Man. I always like this. Either the mask or the full armor. It’s bloody awesome. In the Hyrule warriors No one can stop you. And Gotta love it when you have the master sword and Hylian Shield. Hope you include TOTK soon
Thinking about it, would be cool if they did some twist and the gods from wherever Fierce Deity and Majora came from are also the gods and goddess that made up the Hyrule Land from OoT and are part of the ones who made the Master Sword, even if its just for a fan made Zelda game 🤔
The Fierce Deity's Sword, no contest. It does *much* more damage to enemies than the Master Sword and it makes boss battles a piece of cake. The strenght of the swings of FD sword is insane, and the light beams the FD sword releases are stronger than light arrows and the beams the Master Sword releases.
I like to think about those things in terms of meaning. The Master sword is the weapon the hero of time uses to keep balance, to fulfill destiny. The Fierce Deity is... death. The biggest power of time is bringing the end of things. That is why FD is so scary and powerful. And rare in zelda games, as it is hella difficult to put it to use while keeping the hero being the good guy.
The aesthetic of Majora’s Mask is unmatched to this day. As a now Theosophist who was tried to be raised Christian this hecking game takes up even a portion of my spiritual beliefs. I attribute the fact that I excelled in English at school and in life around many other second language students because I liked this game in particular early in my life. I always have such memories of those Gods or whatever they were considered in the cut scenes roaring the way they did in the cut scenes. That game is spiritual. Even the side quests should be looked at to this day to anyone who wants to know what in this world needs saving and preservation. Just unmatched unbelievably good.
The gods are the four giants? They inspired awe on young me. I played their song literally everywhere searching for effects, but it only works on the endgame.
sometimes i think that Link doesn`t even control the powers of the Fierce Deity since his body and mind changes so much. but on the end the Fierce Deity sealed inside the mask gives control to Link again since he doesnt want to lose a perfect vessel. So basically Link and FD Link are Sukuna and Itadori from the Nintendo Universe.
If link did not have that skin, it would be perfect if the fierce deity was part of the fighter pass 2 taking into account that it is the 35th anniversary of zelda
Something I find interesting is how the Fierce Deity Link Spirit in SSBU is on Darkons side and in that specific area, it was split between good and evil characters. Is it because that the mask holds the same destructive powers as Majora's Mask? But even then, the Fierce Deity Link is fighting for good. If anything, he should be on the side of light with Majora's Mask on the side of evil.
Just here thinking If they ever get around to hard rebooting Zelda series, or try and make a more focused timeline Would love to see Fierce Deity play a major role Maybe have him be the first Link, or Courage true form (like Gannon has pig-beast as his Power form) Or even just simply use to expand the world, maybe past the borders in BotW/TotK, etc

The rising trend of big companies doing multi-universe stories has me hoping for a main series Zelda that does that and only revisit Majora's Mask through that. I do want a revisit to Majora's Mask with new story, but a sequel would be hard to work out and a prequel just isn't what it needs.

One thing that hyrule warriors forgot is that the fierce deity is like 8 feet tall.
Yeah i know its kinda hard to tell in the boss arenas but trust me he absolutely towers over basically every npc.

Hyrule Warriors absolutely captured the sheer power and ferocity of the fierce deity. My only complaint is that he’s normal height. One of the coolest things about the form is that link goes from a kid to a 10 foot tall war god

Fierce deity mask would have been great to use outside of boss battles normally as a better reward for getting all the masks.
Get yourself an emulator, and use the cheats that come with it that makes it able to use the mask anywhere. Sometimes you just got to treat yourself on some good time. :)

Thinking about it, would be cool if they did some twist and the gods from wherever Fierce Deity and Majora came from are also the gods and goddess that made up the Hyrule Land from OoT and are part of the ones who made the Master Sword, even if its just for a fan made Zelda game 🤔
The Fierce Deity's Sword, no contest. It does *much* more damage to enemies than the Master Sword and it makes boss battles a piece of cake. The strenght of the swings of FD sword is insane, and the light beams the FD sword releases are stronger than light arrows and the beams the Master Sword releases.
I like to think about those things in terms of meaning.
The Master sword is the weapon the hero of time uses to keep balance, to fulfill destiny.
The Fierce Deity is... death. The biggest power of time is bringing the end of things.
That is why FD is so scary and powerful. And rare in zelda games, as it is hella difficult to put it to use while keeping the hero being the good guy.

The aesthetic of Majora’s Mask is unmatched to this day. As a now Theosophist who was tried to be raised Christian this hecking game takes up even a portion of my spiritual beliefs. I attribute the fact that I excelled in English at school and in life around many other second language students because I liked this game in particular early in my life. I always have such memories of those Gods or whatever they were considered in the cut scenes roaring the way they did in the cut scenes. That game is spiritual. Even the side quests should be looked at to this day to anyone who wants to know what in this world needs saving and preservation. Just unmatched unbelievably good.

Something I find interesting is how the Fierce Deity Link Spirit in SSBU is on Darkons side and in that specific area, it was split between good and evil characters. Is it because that the mask holds the same destructive powers as Majora's Mask? But even then, the Fierce Deity Link is fighting for good. If anything, he should be on the side of light with Majora's Mask on the side of evil.
