How to make tub spacers for 6 qt unmodified dubtubs to provide more fresh air exchange (FAE). Please visit our shop at www.mycomommasmerch.com for quality genetics and myco jewelry!
Just got my first pins, trying your idea. Did t have the spacers so I used two pencils. One on each of the short sides of the tub. I'll post how it goes. Thanks
@@ShouldaWaved hey there, actually the results were split. I got a great flush but only after watering my cakes because it dried out with the extra FAE. At the time I wasn't using vermiculite and lost moisture quickly. I recently decided to grow Black Cap Nats and spoke with Myco Mommas and they require more FAE. I decided I'm going to add some holes to the upper tub using a soldering iron and cover them with micropore tape. I want to allow better FAE without loosing too much moisture this time. I'm hoping this will work better.
Micropore tape, what size tile spacers do you use? Or can you post some links in the comments? Thanks for this, it will save me lots of time talking people through the process. ✌️
That’s a great idea! I have a nice first flush of Nats on the go.I’m curious what your spawn to substrate ratio was for your Natalensis grows and did you ever try more fae than the tape and lid upside down? I have mine in a 54qt monotub with four11/4 holes on each side and one 1.5 “ on each end.
My research tells me they were once believed to be cubes but got reclassified as their own species. It was used in one of if not the first cross species mushroom crosses with a p Nats and p cubensis. You grow them like a cube with just more fae, so a lot like a grass lover in environment and tub set up altho I have seen guys using regular monotubs for them. From another channel I watch there seems to be a mycelium mass that can appear under them alot like grass lover sclerotia altho I haven't seen anything about them being edible or if they are in any way potent. They look almost identical to cubes... Grow like grass lovers and cross with cubes. They are in my cart fory next purchase as I found a vendor who has them that I like
Yes, nats are typically smaller. You can join the FB group P.Natalensis for more info. Biggest difference is the minor alkaloids which make this a better medicine for inflammation. And that you often get 5-7 flushes from each tub, every 5-7 days.
@@emadhavashem it has to be colonized with mycelium. Vermiculite is inert as metabolism stated. You're misunderstanding the steps in the process it seems

Howd it go?

I use medium binder clips for this. Works great.
Seems like the clipping off of the half circle part is an extra step. If turned 90° it makes sense. Doesn't seem like they'd get in the way.
problem solvers! I like it!
Thanks for that tip! Gunna try it on my next nat tub
if you dont mind a more ghetto look you can tape down quarters to tune-in the gap for fae
Y'all are so cute 🤗🍄💕
You can modify your tubs without burning a hole in them. Use a hole saw or a utility knife.

Do you have a link to the spacers? Thank you 😊

We typically do 1:3.
Thanks! 🙏🤙💯
Are Nats a grass lover? Can you use a Pan Cyan tek?

The finished product is so small. Is that normal? What are the biggest differences between Nats and Cubes? Thanx for any intel.

Burning plastic? Just use a stepped drill bit to drill plastic, no problem.
Still horrible for your lungs. Gotta wear a respirator for either method
You dont need a respirator to use a step bit to drill through a storage container.......
@@1871corporationUSA my bad, didn’t realize what a stepped bit was!
@@sporemusethey work great, can get them cheap, in a 3 pack at harbor freight or prime
Can wheat grains be used instead of vermiculite?
Vermiculite is inert and retain moisture , wheat grains is food for mushrooms, both have absolutly different usea, so no.
Unsterilized and non colonized grain would blow your tub up with trichoderma
@@1871corporationUSA What if I sterilize the cereal?
@@emadhavashem it has to be colonized with mycelium.
Vermiculite is inert as metabolism stated. You're misunderstanding the steps in the process it seems
I bet you go through a lot of tape! I know I do! 😂
We reuse our tape instead of replacing it until the tub is retired.
Lol ,
