    I have this exact yarn and didn't know what to make. I am making this! I have 2 rows left on the front then have to do my border and seaming and it will be done! So flowy and beautiful! Now I have to decide if I'm keeping it or gifting it to my sister in law! Thank you for the beautiful pattern!

    Thank you! I'm so enjoying working this up! I'm especially happy to learn the chainless starting double crochet! 45 rows in, I'm finally comfortable with the stitch. Lovely pattern. Thank you again!

    Planning on making this for my up coming visit to St Croix, I think it will be lovely with white pants and a white tank top! Only 5 feet so it will definitely have to be shorter, so less rows. Debating if I will do less stitches for the width, I’ll have to periodically measure as I make my fdc. Video helped a lot understanding breaking the yarn for the color to stay symmetrical. Thank you for a lovely pattern and a great video!

    I love it. I think some of your viewing audience has become accustomed to watching you do beginning to end of a project albeit smaller items. I'm good but I've been crocheting for decades. I like the added stitches for a sleeve look as well. Great piece Tamara.

    I bought 3 cakes of Sea Glass and 3 cakes of Nautical; but I couldn't wait to use this yarn. So, I found a gorgeous Lotus Mandala Duster, and the colorway is stunning! I am on my 2nd cake, and the transition from the end of one cake to the 2nd cake is also beautiful. I hope they make more colors, I know I will be buying more, of this fabulous yarn! 💗💗💗

    i am currently working on this and i wish i would have done some things different, i am using a worsted weight with a 7mm hook and i am not even half way through the back and almost through a jumbo skein of yarn, its so heavy already, i should have used a much bigger hook or a thinner yarn, but its a great pattern and very easy to understand

    I love this and have been viewing this for some time. I decided to take it on wooohoooo, butttt I already had "It's a Wrap" in the color way Romance. I believe it is what they first came out with and it's a #1 weight. So, I cut it all up and put two strands together (will be a sorta color block way) to hopefully equal the #2 weight of the Rainbow yarn. I have no clue if it does. I am making this for a friend and hopefully it will turn out ok. Thank you Tamara.

    • @mooglyblog

      Thank you! Yes, I'd just make a gauge swatch and see which gets you closest and go with that. It's a VERY forgiving garment in terms of sizing. :)

    Working on this beautiful piece but before I use my pretty yarn I am practicing on the DC foundation with thin yarn. I am practicing in a bamboo yarn and is hard as heck for me . Anybody had a hard time doing the DC foundation? somehow the stitches doesn't look uniform. any tips on this?thanks for any help.

    It is beautiful! I think I will make one, but have a question for you. Could we use Red Heart super saver ombre? If so, what size hook would we use? Thanks and looking forward to making this.

    • @mooglyblog
      @mooglyblog  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! That yarn is a lot thicker, so I would focus on getting gauge - which hook that is will be dependant on your personal tension level/gauge/etc. I think I would make a swatch with a J hook and see if I needed to move up or down from there. :)

      @wandamuise2636 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tamara Kelly thank you Tamara, I will certainly do that. I was asking because I can't get that yarn here in Nova Scotia Canada and the exchange rate is nuts right now. Would a DK/sport weight yarn work?

    I had no trouble understanding this video. But if you’re a beginner it can be very daunting, go back to basics and have a look at the huge number of beginner videos Tamara has made, then once you understand them you will have no trouble with the more advanced ones, in this world of ‘instant” there are many things worth taking the time to master and crocheting is one of them.

  • @pillarofclouds77

    For those of us that don't know how to do the foundation double crochet ... how many chains would we begin with, and then start our first double crochet in the 3rd or 4th chain?

    • @mooglyblog
      @mooglyblog  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It just depends on your preferred method. I usually like to chain 2 more than the stitch count, and just skip the first 2 chains, and not count them as a stitch. :)

  • @annab9847
    @annab9847 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    How do you like this yarn. With all of the loose strands that don't seem to have a twist, I would think it would be harder to work with.

    • @mooglyblog
      @mooglyblog  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like it quite a lot! It does take a bit of getting used to, and a bit more "attention" to make sure you're not splitting the yarn, so I recommend a more rounded hook, made of super slick material, for this yarn. :)

  • @liziking306

    I'm only 5'0" and wear between S/M. Can you please suggest how many starting I should do? I'm not that great at figuring it out myself. I usually follow tutorials to the T. Thank you in advance. And thank you for making this tutorial.

    • @mooglyblog
      @mooglyblog  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Lisa! I'm not familiar with that yarn, but if you can get gauge (with whatever hook is needed to do so), then you should be fine!

  • @Mig-nr8hc
    @Mig-nr8hc 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’m short ! So I wouldn’t need as many chains . Will I ?

    • @mooglyblog
      @mooglyblog  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The chains are for the width, so you might want to skip some rows - just skip the same number in the back and on the fronts! :)

  • @perfumetester10
    @perfumetester10 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I love pattern i will do this one. But question? Why break the yarn and just slip stitch accross at the neck area (aka front for the left and right panels) @tamara kelly - moogly.

    • @mooglyblog
      @mooglyblog  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Slip stitching can affect the stretch and movement a lot (sometimes to good effect, sometimes bad) - you can try it and see if you like it! :)

    I have the regular ..its a wrap ..and the way my yarn comes unwrapped..it looks like it's just one strand ? Or is it meant to be multiple strands ?

    • @mooglyblog
      @mooglyblog  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The regular It's a Wrap is a different weight and different construction from It's a Wrap Rainbow. It's thinner, and just one strand (albeit, that one strand is thicker than any of the 4 used in the It's a Wrap Rainbow).

  • @jeama123
    @jeama123 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Tamara, do you think using a double strand of crochet cotton (#10) would be similar in thickness?

    • @mooglyblog
      @mooglyblog  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it would be close - you may need to adjust the hook size to get gauge, but then that's the case anyway. :)

  • @lauriecorkum5040
    @lauriecorkum5040 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have been wanting to make this so flipping bad but for the life of me cant find that yarn in any store around here. I did get the "Its A Wrap" but its one strand size 1 & doesn't come out looking like the one in the video. I dont buy things off the internet anymore due to a couple of very bad experiences. Is there another yarn I can use that would work up the same way?

    • @mooglyblog
      @mooglyblog  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Michaels is the best bet for this yarn in stores, but any 2 weight yarn should be fine! :)

      I think so! Just be sure to check your gauge against the one listed in the pattern, and if that doesn't work, you can just work to the measurements of the schematic. :)

  • @suesellers7970
    @suesellers7970 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I bought it’s a wrap red heart they didn’t have the same colors and it’s thinner than doilies string so this pattern using k,I,or hook is far to big and loose......so disappointed wanted to make my own wrap with 2 cakes. They only had 2 in color documentary left and had to drive an hour to find a store that had any... probably will need 4 or 6 cakes for the same pattern

    • @mooglyblog
      @mooglyblog  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sue! It sounds like you picked up It's a Wrap, not It's a Wrap Rainbow, which is what was used here. On the possible upside, I should have a top pattern coming out with the It's a Wrap later this week!

    • @suesellers7970
      @suesellers7970 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had that same thought, my problem is it is so fine I am struggling with using it. I learned a new stitch you posted on line for beginning double crochet and I can do it perfect with 4ply worsted weigh yarn, but I have done it repeatedly with it's a wrap and I just can't get it and it doesn't work up the same. So frustrating i don't want to waste the string but it's not working out well for me. I work with Dollie yarn to make 3-D butterflies so I have used this yarn before but I can't get it to work up with any top patterns I have found! = (

    We don't even get to see what the project is or looks like. You're skipping over so many important things, the swatches are small and your instruction is hard to follow. You messed up on this one big time. Please think about these things when making "tutorials".

    • @pamk.3651
      @pamk.3651 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You're extremely rude. Maybe it's your lack of skills that you have that made you fail this tutorial. I wonder why I didn't have a problem making this.

      Which video are you watching? At approximately 1.10 mins Tamara clearly models the garment, then goes on to give a close up view of the work. I’m very puzzled at this comment. Thank you Tamara for another very clear video.

    • @alwayscurious6032
      @alwayscurious6032 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @Kathy Brenneman, besides your rude comment, you clearly have issues with understanding instructions. The instructor clearly states, that the link in the description box will take you to a video that shows the rest of the tutorial, as well as the written pattern. As for what the finished pattern looks like, again clearly stated by the instructor, she has shown modeled photos of the finished garment. Perhaps listening to the video in its entirety, as well as understanding the written instructions, might help you with future videos.
