I started the sleeves today. I was intimidated because I had never added a foundation chain like this and it took me a couple days thinking about it. We!!, it worked beautifully! I was so happy when both sleeves were added and the pattern matched. Danced around the room like a fool. I love your patterns! I made the Sea foam Cardigan too and it came out amazing. I love the unusual start to the row, took me a while to master but it gives such a nice edge. My success here is completely due to your careful instructions. I can't read a crochet pattern, I don:'t know why because I understand the abbreviations. Thank you! You are very talented!
This is a lovely pattern. Your instructions are so clear and easy to read and understand! 🎉 Love the progress I am making. Thanks for doing all the work for us!
I am now just finishing up. This was a wonderful tutorial! As I am in Canada I did use a 'FUZZY' yarn. It is a little heavy but it is beautiful!! Thank you.
Thank you so much for this fantastic pattern! You are a master pattern maker....I just finished making this cardigan in the same color. It came out beautiful. Your written pattern was so easy to follow and you are a great teacher. I love your channel. Keep doing what you do...
This is beautiful ❤️ I was searching for a diamond lace top pattern and first seen this one on crochet and knit with feride’s channel. I’m so glad I found the actual creator of this pattern. I can’t lie, it upsets me when others take work and don’t credit the actual creator. Anyway, thanks for sharing this pattern, it’s on my to do list lol
WOW! I really love this pattern, can’t wait to make me one, in a light grey or sea foam. Very nice instructions and you have a beautiful voice for the video, makes it very easy to follow the pattern. Thank you for the free pattern.
What a beautiful cardigan. Thanks for sharing a free version of this pattern & a tutorial. Really like the yarn, ZZ Twist is great & love the color. Thanks. Have a great day.
That chainless beginning gives such a beautiful clean edge! I will definitely be trying it. I love this green, my favourite colour. Your instructions are always so clear. I love your tutorials, thank you for your hard work! ❣️🌹
I have been searching so long for a summer kimono type pattern, and a few days ago I purchased a pattern and so much yarn, but this is so much closer to what I’ve been looking for! I guess I’ll be making 2 Kimonos lol, thank you for sharing!
Hi. If you want to use a #3 weight yarn instead of a #4 weight yarn, you would have to alter the pattern to do so. Since it would be difficult to match the pattern gauge when using a thinner yarn than the pattern calls for, you would need to either alter the pattern repeats quite a bit, or make a larger size at a smaller gauge. I hope this helps!
Hi! New subscriber here!!!! ;) I just found your youtube chanel and I'm in LOVE with it! Love your projects, they look so beautiful, and you explain everything really well! I'm a yarn lover too, love crochet and knit and I'm so happy to find another beautiful chanel like yours. :) Thanks so much for sharing your lovely work with us. keep up the good work! ;)
Hi! For a substitute, you don't have to use a yarn with a "z" twist, "s" twist yarns will work just fine. The main thing to look for is a smooth, low-fuzz texture, if you're going for a cardigan that would be suitable for warmer weather. I would recommend KnitPicks Comfy Worsted (which is a cotton blend). Or, use the tips in this video for choosing a good yarn for summer garments: th-cam.com/video/NNZZA4LQWdc/w-d-xo.html I hope this helps!
I think this is gorgeous and I’ve never made this pattern before but will definitely try it now. You made a great, comprehensible tutorial! Well done💜🙏🤘🏿💜
Hi Diana. This stitch pattern is a multiple of 12 stitches. So when the pattern tells you to add the extra chains for the sleeve, you can add 12, 24, or 36 to the number of chains given in the pattern for the size you are making. I hope this helps!
Love this project and just may have similar yarn I can use. One thing, I do like to finish the edges even with a narrow band, so I may try to add a narrow (3 inch) one around the opening and on the sleeves. I'll see how ambitious I get. Thank you so much for your detailed tutorial.
Yes, it will look much better and "finished" in my opinion. Three inches is a bit too wide though? It's 7,5 centimeters. Especially for the front. It will become like a shawl collar (not that it's a bad thing). But, now that I think of it, this band will allow you to put buttons, which is cool.
When you finish making the foundation single crochet row, you should have 100 sts if you're making the Size 1, 124 sts for Size 2, and 148 sts for Size 3. Please see the written pattern instructions here for all of the numbers and details you'll need to make this project: yayforyarn.com/diamond-cardigan-crochet-pattern/
It depends on which size you are making and how many yards of yarn you have. Size 1 requires 1440 yards, Size 2 requires 1800 yards, and Size 3 requires 2165 yards of yarn. I hope this helps!
I was waiting for such long cardigan. Its too pretty n pattern is awesome. I want to make it for size 2 what should be its foundation chain? Can I start it with normal foundation chain or need to start it as u instructed?
Hi! All of the information for all sizes is included in the free written instructions, which you can view by visiting the first link in the video description. The pattern gives instructions for both a regular foundation chain and the method I used in the video. I hope this helps!
Hi. The instructions for all of the sizes are given in the free pattern instructions, which you can view here: yayforyarn.com/diamond-cardigan-crochet-pattern/ The pattern instructions tell how many foundation chains to work to begin the project. I hope this helps!
I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I don't have a knitted version of this pattern as of right now, but if I ever design one, I'll be sure to post it on my channel. Thanks!
All of the stitch counts and information needed to make all the sizes are given in the written pattern. You can view the free version of the written pattern by visiting the first link in the video description. I hope this helps!
Hi. The width for the sleeves is added on Row 9, where the Upper Back portion of the pattern begins. The instructions for Row 9 reads as follows: Row 9: Starting with new yarn, ch 24. Turn the work so the back of the last row is facing you. Dc in first st, 2 dc in nxt ch-sp. *Ch 2, sk 2, dc in nxt 6 sts, ch 2, sk 2, 2 dc in nxt ch-sp.* Repeat from *to* until 1 st remains. Dc in last st, ch 26. When the pattern says to chain 24 at the beginning of the row, that adds stitches for the sleeve on one side. Then, when it says to chain 26 at the end of the row, that adds the stitches for the sleeve on the other side. The stitch pattern used in this project is a multiple of 12 stitches. So when the pattern tells you to add the extra chains for the sleeve, you can add 12, 24, or 36 chains to the number of chains given in the pattern to lengthen the sleeve however much you want. So for instance, if you decide to add 24 extra stitches to the width of the sleeve, you would chain 48 (24+24) at the beginning of the row, and chain 50 (26+24) at the end of the row. The instructions for the following row are written for the exact number of stitches that would be in the row if you followed the pattern as written without lengthening the sleeves. However, once you get to this point in the pattern, you may be familiar enough with the stitch pattern to continue the stitch pattern through the row. If you need any help with Row 10 when you get there, just let me know and I will be happy to provide more specific instructions.
So quick question - i doubt anyone is reading this but if yes pls pls let me know. How can i modify the pattern to have slightly bigger sleeves. I am crocheting size 1 but would like slightly wider sleeves...
If you want the sleeves to be deeper (from armhole to shoulder), you can repeat rows 3-8 of the upper back an extra time and repeat rows 3-8 of the right front and left front an extra time in the sleeve area. I hope this helps!
Hi. All of the stitch counts and information needed to make all the sizes are given in the written pattern. You can view the free version of the written pattern by visiting the first link in the video description. I hope this helps!
Hi Rose! You can make this cardigan shorter if you like, by working fewer stitch pattern repeats on the lower sections of the cardigan. I hope this helps!
Hi! All of the numbers and instructions for all of the sizes are included in the free written pattern, which you can view by visiting the first link in the video description. I hope this helps!
Hi. No, the gauge will not be the same if you use a #3 Light yarn. This pattern calls for a #4 Medium yarn, and I do not recommend using a different yarn weight unless you feel comfortable altering patterns. I hope this helps!
I wanted to ask about the yarn. Does the name of the yarn imply that it is a z twisted yarn as the opposite is the s twist? The z twist in a yarn doesn’t unravel and is less likely to split unlike the s twist does.
Hi Louise. Yes, this yarn has a z twist rather than an s twist, but it is now discontinued. I would recommend substituting another summer-garment-friendly worsted weight yarn. I have a guide on choosing yarns for summer garments here: yayforyarn.com/best-yarns-summer-garments/ I hope this helps!
In the instructions for the cardigan back, the number of foundation stitches for each size is given in the Row 1 instructions. Row 1 ends with a total of 100 (124, 148) foundation single crochet stitches. If you are making Size 2, then you'll follow only the second number in that list, which is 124. So you will need to start with 124 foundation stitches for Size 2. I hope this helps!
Esta precioso lo estoy haciendo siguiendo el video ya que no se nada ese idioma me gustaría subtitulos en español espero me quede como el suyo de bonito graciassssss GTO MÉXICO
Hi just starting this this evening feeling ambitious. For the size 1 you say 100 stitches but cannot find how many for size 2 as cannot see it anywhere on the pattern
Hi Maxine! In the written pattern, the numbers for size 2 and size 3 are given in the parentheses, right after the number for size 1. So the pattern says to work a total of 100 (124, 148) sts, which means for size 1, you'll work a total of 100 sts, for size 2, you'll work 124, and for size 3, you'll work 148. I hope this helps!
Hi! The number of foundation chains for each size and all of the written instructions for the entire project are included in the free version of the written pattern, which you can view by visiting the first link in the video description. I hope this helps!
Confused! Yess I am making this cardigan. I have completed row 11(5-8). Rt after this you say repeat stitches 5-8 again before I start 3-8 several X according to my size Question is after I have completed stitch#8 there is no way I can do another row of 5-8 after completing stitch 8. Stitch 5 starts, dcst same st, dc4st
Hi Carol! I am assuming you're on the Upper Back portion of the instructions. Rows 9 and 10 are adding the extra stitches needed for the width of the sleeves. Rows 9 and 10 are modified versions of Rows 3 and 4, so if you repeat Rows 5-8 once according to the instructions after working Rows 9 and 10, the stitch pattern will flow smoothly. However, you cannot repeat Rows 5-8 more than once, or that will disrupt the stitch pattern. The pattern only says to repeat Rows 5-8 once here so as not to disrupt the stitch pattern. Does that help? Please let me know if you have any more questions!
Hi! Yes, there is a PDF version of this pattern available for purchase in my shop. Just visit the second link in the video description to shop the PDF version. I hope this helps!
When you get to the instructions that say "Upper Back", on Row 9, it says, "Starting with new yarn, ch 24." To make the sleeve less wide, only chain 12 instead. Then, at the end of Row 9, it says to ch 26. Instead, chain only 14. This will make the sleeves less wide on your cardigan. I hope this helps!
Hi Melanie. I used a US size H or 5 mm hook, but you'll need to use whichever hook size you need to match the pattern gauge. The hook size given in a pattern is a recommendation only, it is more important to match the pattern gauge than to use the exact same hook size as the pattern recommends. I hope this helps!
Hi. All of the yarn requirements and information needed to make all the sizes are given in the written pattern. You can view the free version of the written pattern by visiting the first link in the video description. I hope this helps!
Hi Jean. The numbers for the other sizes are given in the free version of the written pattern, which you can view by visiting the first link in the video description. I hope this helps!
Hi. The amounts of yarn needed for the other sizes are mentioned in the written instructions, which you can view for free by visiting the first link in the video description. I hope this helps!
Hi. I don't recommend trying to make this with a thinner yarn unless you are comfortable writing your own patterns from scratch. You would have to completely re-design the instructions to make this work for a thin yarn. I hope this helps!
Hi! The number of stitches to start with depends on which size you are making. The written pattern includes instructions for all of the different sizes. In the video, I opted to begin with a row of foundation single crochet instead of a foundation chain and row of regular single crochet, but instructions for both options are given in the pattern. You can find the free version of the written pattern at the first link in the video description. I hope this helps!
I am looking forward to making this
It really nice. Thanks for showing us how it's done.

You did this so great!
I love this pattern but I think I’d like the sleeves a little longer so how would I work out how many extra stitches I’d need to chain?
Hi Diana. This stitch pattern is a multiple of 12 stitches. So when the pattern tells you to add the extra chains for the sleeve, you can add 12, 24, or 36 to the number of chains given in the pattern for the size you are making. I hope this helps!
Lovely cardigan, beautiful color too! Yup Im going to have to make this, May add pockets too. Thank you for another great tutorial!

May I ask.. should the foundation sc/ch , end with even numbers. ?

Please see the written pattern instructions here for all of the numbers and details you'll need to make this project: yayforyarn.com/diamond-cardigan-crochet-pattern/

Can I make this in cotton?
Thankyou very pretty pattern GodBless
Love your tutorial, gorgeous pattern, thank you.
This is beautiful...thank you for sharing
Hello, I have got 658more of an Acrilic yarn that is 264 more for 100grms. Will it make one of those Diamond pattern cardigans please.
Sorry but I couldn't find the number of foundation chain for size 2 in ur written pattern.
The same here i can't find how many stitches is foundations chain.
Hi. The instructions for all of the sizes are given in the free pattern instructions, which you can view here: yayforyarn.com/diamond-cardigan-crochet-pattern/ The pattern instructions tell how many foundation chains to work to begin the project. I hope this helps!
Perfect
Hermosísima esta prenda
I like the way you help us make thing/explain patters. Thank you! On that note do you or will you have a similar pattern for knitters
I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I don't have a knitted version of this pattern as of right now, but if I ever design one, I'll be sure to post it on my channel. Thanks!
Great thank you hope you can do one very pretty
Brilliant love your work,
Fantastic more more crochet polero please size small 💖💖💖💖😍😍😍😍
I like to start with this cardigan, but how much yarn do i need?
All of the stitch counts and information needed to make all the sizes are given in the written pattern. You can view the free version of the written pattern by visiting the first link in the video description. I hope this helps!
How can I adjust the pattern to make the sleeves long? Thank you!
Hi. The width for the sleeves is added on Row 9, where the Upper Back portion of the pattern begins. The instructions for Row 9 reads as follows:
Row 9: Starting with new yarn, ch 24.
Lovely! ♥️
Made weth love 💕 thanks 🙏🏻 go ahead excellent⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Hi. How many foundation single crotchet for size 3
Hi. All of the stitch counts and information needed to make all the sizes are given in the written pattern. You can view the free version of the written pattern by visiting the first link in the video description. I hope this helps!
Beautiful I love this..

You do beautiful work. I’d like to try this but shorter like maybe to my waist 🧶😷
Hi Rose! You can make this cardigan shorter if you like, by working fewer stitch pattern repeats on the lower sections of the cardigan. I hope this helps!
Yay For Yarn Thx🧶😷
Hello, I just want to ask in size 2 how many single stitch in the first row is it always even numbers?
Hi! All of the numbers and instructions for all of the sizes are included in the free written pattern, which you can view by visiting the first link in the video description. I hope this helps!
Çok guzel butiful yaka kaç zincir? 💜
When starting on the right front, mine happens to be on the wrong side. Is this right?
Love this, thank you
Is the gauge still the same if you use light yarn?
Hi. No, the gauge will not be the same if you use a #3 Light yarn. This pattern calls for a #4 Medium yarn, and I do not recommend using a different yarn weight unless you feel comfortable altering patterns. I hope this helps!
ZZ twist yarn is discontinued, has anyone found a good replacement yarn? I'm struggling finding anything comparable!
Or, use the tips in this video for choosing a good yarn for summer garments: th-cam.com/video/NNZZA4LQWdc/w-d-xo.html
I hope this helps!
I couldnt find how many foundation stitches to make for size 2
In the instructions for the cardigan back, the number of foundation stitches for each size is given in the Row 1 instructions. Row 1 ends with a total of 100 (124, 148) foundation single crochet stitches. If you are making Size 2, then you'll follow only the second number in that list, which is 124. So you will need to start with 124 foundation stitches for Size 2. I hope this helps!
Nice 👍
Sorry to be a pain, but do you have a knitted equivalent, like with the sea foam and coral cardigans? Thanks :)
There is a knitted version in the works, coming soon... :)
@@YayForYarn I'll look forward to it :)

I want to know the foundation chain for S M L XL size
Hi! The number of foundation chains for each size and all of the written instructions for the entire project are included in the free version of the written pattern, which you can view by visiting the first link in the video description. I hope this helps!
Confused! Yess I am making this cardigan. I have completed row 11(5-8). Rt after this you say repeat stitches 5-8 again before I start 3-8 several X according to my size
Question is after I have completed stitch#8 there is no way I can do another row of 5-8 after completing stitch 8.
Hi I am a beginner and prefer to have a pdf copy of the pattern and the video. lol is there a pdf copy available. I am a wee bit slow.
Hi! Yes, there is a PDF version of this pattern available for purchase in my shop. Just visit the second link in the video description to shop the PDF version. I hope this helps!
Thank you
How can we adjust if we don't want the sleeve to be that wide?
When you get to the instructions that say "Upper Back", on Row 9, it says, "Starting with new yarn, ch 24." To make the sleeve less wide, only chain 12 instead. Then, at the end of Row 9, it says to ch 26. Instead, chain only 14. This will make the sleeves less wide on your cardigan. I hope this helps!
@@YayForYarn thank you 😊
What size crochet hook you have to use to make this
Hi Melanie. I used a US size H or 5 mm hook, but you'll need to use whichever hook size you need to match the pattern gauge. The hook size given in a pattern is a recommendation only, it is more important to match the pattern gauge than to use the exact same hook size as the pattern recommends. I hope this helps!

Is there a way I can make this with 1mm size yarn
Hi. I don't recommend trying to make this with a thinner yarn unless you are comfortable writing your own patterns from scratch. You would have to completely re-design the instructions to make this work for a thin yarn. I hope this helps!
@@YayForYarn thx this very much did help when I come back from my trip I might go to the store an buy the right type of yarn pretty design btw

Hi
How many chains did you made at the beginning ??????
