Your confidence rubbed off on me so here I am making a sweater with no pattern at all lookin like I know what I’m doing but knowing damn well I don’t. confidence is keyyy
As a lazy girl may I recommend using front post/ back post hdc or dc for ribbing on sleeves and coolers etc. much easier to me than crocheting up and having to slip stitch back into the sleeve/ neckline whatever. Plus it looks nice!
Blocking synthetic fibers like acrylic isn't advised because the shape will not stay. Natural fiber yarns like cotton, wool, etc..helps to keep your garments same shape (as how you blocked), blocking will help your stitches pop, as an example lacy crochet stitches will stand out & be more visible when you block.
Hey Bella, you are adorable. After your tutorial I feel that I can now make myself and family sweaters. Thank you so much. I’m going to try this. I’m from Myrtle Beach SC. I’m also 66 and going to watch all your videos for more inspiration. ❤
OMG! Where have YOU been all of my crochet life. You have simplified what so many crochet influencers and instructors make seem so much harder. I'm definitely going to try and make my sweater without a pattern. I love the one panel method. I'm all about that. Thank you, Bella!
You are awesome!! Teaching is the Art of Inspiration...and I'll just say, thank you for sharing your gift! Simplicity is next to holiness!! Thank you. I'm working on my first sweater now..T all the way😅
Thanks for this easy to follow approach. I prefer oversized, simple lines that let the yarn be the focus. These designs lend themselves to exactly that.
I have another sweater type for you, MJ Designs has a sweater that starts at the sleeve and word across, something like your method, leaving an opening for the neck and continue on across to finish at the sleeve. Its fab, Thanks for the ideas.
Great video. I love crocheting without a pattern and think it is a great skill for people to develop that works especially well with crochet. I make what I call "three tube sweaters" where you make your chain for the neck width, join it together and work from the top down. After you get to the shoulder width you want you make your sleeve holes and continue, adjusting width as you like, then you add on the sleeves. Like you I also don't like to sew anything and this method allows you to sew nothing. You can also do a cardigan with this method, just don't go in the round, and add your button field and collar after.
I saved this video as I know I’ll be referring back to it often. I’m just becoming more independent with designing my own very simple patterns rather than having to follow a pattern strictly. Great breakdown!
I make my sweaters on the round. Usually from the neck down. Then, sleeves are started from the arm hole down. I never have to sew anything. Even the granny square sweater can be crochet together as you go. Great video.
I caught your cardigan video when it dropped about 6 months ago, so I was excited to see this in my feed. I love your energy and the way you demystify the process. I swear folks make it so much harder than it needs to be. I'm pretty decent at knitting and I love how it looks, but crochet is so much more fun and is always going to be unique because it cannot be replicated by machines. All things that have been crocheted have been made by hands. By hands. No exceptions. By the way--the sweater you're wearing is gorgeous! Great video.
You’re an absolute legend! Your inspiration is off the charts. Crafting my own crochet gear now, thanks to your brilliant TH-cam vid. Cheers for taking the time to make it!🌟
I was crocheting while watching this....I'm doing it via Tunisian. I taught myself to crochet 53 yrs. ago ! It's been a passion every since. I agree about blocking. It can change the looks of a piece for the better.
🎉🎉❤❤ My fellow Crochet Queen, you have definitely broke the sweater down to a simple science even for a beginner! Myself I'm a 20+ yrs crocheter 😊 and never made a sweater , you have changed my view on trying them!!!! I've been Encouraged!!!!!!🎉❤❤ We are the Coolest ❤🎉
Omg. This is lit. So now imma make a long duster with drop sleeves. Just cuz you made me believe i can. Chiiiiilllle. You made 4 sweaters in 2 weeks... .this one sweater might take me 2 weeks....but i got this.....did i mention im using faux fur... lets goooooooo!!!!!!
* I hate math, I hate counting * sewing together a bunch of different panels never feels seemless to me, but these methods are beautiful * I no longer feel restrained to the “empty space neckline”
I use 2 panel when the directions of the stitches matters and you want the same direction front and back. Sew the two panels and leave the sleeve opening to fit your arms. You can then do the sleeves as a spiral instead of a panel.
Thank you for sharing this video. I crocheted a raglan sweater this summer but I would like to try a different style. This video was just what I needed to help me start my next crochet sweater. I want to try the one panel method and you described it so well. Thank you. Keep bringing the sweater content. You are a gem in the crochet world 🧶💎 😊
GIRL THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS 😭😭 i have so many sweaters saved on pinterest that i want to make but i had no idea where to start and this helped me sm im about to finish my first one bless
Yessss thank you for this video! I really needed a simple explanation to learn how to freehand my own sweaters! ❤ also hexi cardigans are super fun to make.
Thank you so much for sharing!!! You are awesome and your products are beautiful! The only thing I'll do different is that I will slip stitch the ends together as I go. By doing that I won't need to sew anything. You are wonderful! Thank you for sharing! God bless you!!!👍🏼🙏
I love your video, it is fantastic. 😊 This is the way I have been making my sweaters, because everytime I tried to use a pattern I would get all turned around and messed up. So I just did it on my own. Im happy to see someone else do it like that too. Thank you for the 🐸 froging, I never knew 😊❤
Thank you. I was designing a sweater and didn’t know how to go about doing the neckline. I had everything else measured out but I thought “How am I going to add in the head”. Your video helped me out tremendously.
I recommend working in circles because it has even less sewing, so I would start from the neckline then work on body and then add sleeves, or start from the bottom in a circle so I have the back and the front at the same time, but that way the sleeves have stripes in a different way so it kinda looks worse, so I should probably try making sleeves like in this video if I'll be making one from the bottom
Reason why I have made a 2 panel sweater: I used a pattern and thought it looked weird upside-down. So both panels needed to be worked in the same direction.
Thank you, I love your vibe x Love that your sharing this too. Giving hope to those who think it's beyond them... Its all doable.. trust in yourself, give it a go and enjoy! 🥰👏👌😍😘
You inspired me to design my own cardigan with your first video and I’ve been experimenting with making my own sweaters now too. It is very simple and yet complicated but so satisfying to make something up as you go and have it work out. Do you ever make raglan style sweaters? I like how the body is just one round and then you just crochet on the sleeves. Anywho, thanks for another inspiring post!
Brilliant video. Your explanation makes it easy to understand and the simplifies on how to make a cardigan without the drama of over thinking. Thank you so much for sharing this information. Stay blessed!..❤❤❤❤
Thank you for the different methods! As a suggestion...for ribbing, I like to use FPDC & BPDC stitches - gives a beautiful finish with some stretch. Hope this helps 💕
This is such great tips ,I have been crocheting for years and I keep learning new techniques every time I find a new channel And by the way have you seen how trendy crochet is right now ! I was in Marshall’s the other day and saw dresses sweaters cardigans all done in crochet style TFS ❤
THANK YOU!!! ive been stuck on my first sweater for months bc the pattern i used is crocheting it in a round and its just... i hate it So much i want to give up SHDFJSKDFL so this is wonderful!
Hi hope you had a great birthday. I was looking for videos on sweaters and saw one where she sewed the 4 panels. Then seen your video and it made so much more sense! Plus I'm lazy😅😅😅😅 So thank you.
Thank you for this. I don't block. I am trying to finally make my daughter a capped sleeve cardigan and no pattern so I looked at several but I needed your advice.
Thank you so much for this video!! Now I can make sweaters that fit me perfectly. Can you please make a video on how to figure out how many granny squares you need to make any outfit? Ex. top, skirt, cardigan.
when i search "how to crochet thing" THIS IS THE TYPE OF VIDEO IM LOOKING FOR!!!! not a step-by-step guide/pattern, but a GENERAL explanation!!!!
This!
I look for both depending on what im trying to do 😅😅😅
Same here!!
Your confidence rubbed off on me so here I am making a sweater with no pattern at all lookin like I know what I’m doing but knowing damn well I don’t. confidence is keyyy
How’d it go? I’m currently also going to freestyle a jacket because of this video and her very encouraging words and motivational attitude lol
“Work smarter not harder” I like that. Thanks for this incredibly inspiring guide
As a lazy girl may I recommend using front post/ back post hdc or dc for ribbing on sleeves and coolers etc. much easier to me than crocheting up and having to slip stitch back into the sleeve/ neckline whatever. Plus it looks nice!
And it drapes nicely with good definition ❤
This is the MOST INCREDIBLE crochet tutorial I’ve ever seen
You are not a “lazy girl”. You are brilliant and efficient! Love this vid!
okay, that’s it. you’ve officially convinced me to start blocking. i think the first thing i’ll block is the cardigan i made from your tutorial 😂
Same! I've been resistant to blocking, but I will block the projects I'm working on now.
Blocking synthetic fibers like acrylic isn't advised because the shape will not stay. Natural fiber yarns like cotton, wool, etc..helps to keep your garments same shape (as how you blocked), blocking will help your stitches pop, as an example lacy crochet stitches will stand out & be more visible when you block.
dude the “one panel” sweater is so clever ! why didnt i think of that😅❤
I cannot crochet from a pattern. I love this !!!!
Me too👍🏼
I love this video so much because I’m an overthinker and it has kept me from trying sweaters. This gave me some inspiration to give it a whirl!
Hey Bella, you are adorable. After your tutorial I feel that I can now make myself and family sweaters. Thank you so much. I’m going to try this. I’m from Myrtle Beach SC. I’m also 66 and going to watch all your videos for more inspiration. ❤

Awesome video!! What a great way to try new stitch patterns to create a wearable piece of art 🖼️ Love it 😍
Young lady, you read my mind. How to structure a sweater or any top. I love your chat as if you’re talking to a friend. Thank you. ❤

Makes so much sense!! So glad I watched this. Definitely reduces headaches from the “old” way! Thanks so much!!!!

I do the same, but from the bottom/waist up instead
Can u recommend a tutorial from where I can learn this for any size

I always wondered why it was called "frogging". I laughed so hard. That's gonna stick inside my mind for days. Thank you!
I'm new to your channel and loving how you show and explain " Your How To Do's🤔!" That's exactly what I love in a crochet tutorial 🧶🪡✂️👍🏾

Girl I love your VIBE, thank you for the great video.
I think a foundation row to start at the bottom also gives a little stretch, if you're fluffy like me. 😁 I love this so much!!
This is brilliant I love these videos they are so helpful thank you ❤
Thank you so very much for making this video easily digestable. It is very educational and puts me at ease at the same time.
