First off, sorry its been so long since I've posted a new video. The last two weeks have been a little busy, and I'm also learning how to use my new video editing software, so that's really slowed things down.
Today's topic might seem simple, but shaking your grain spawn jars is actually something that can really benefit the overall project quite a bit. If we shake at the right point, it will result in faster colonization, which also means that unwanted spores and bacteria wont have as easy of a time finding their way into our spawn and creating a problem.
This is another video in our series about monotub cultivation of mushrooms, one of the easiest and most accessible methods for growing mushrooms at home. If you haven't already, I really recommend you go back and check out the earlier videos in this series, we've covered some pretty good info already.

Hey man - amazing videos! Thank you so much for all the information 🙌🏾🙏🏽 I had a question - can violently shaking your jars with micropore tape, having the rice a bit more moist than needed, and turning the jars upside down when shaking - can that affect the airflow through the tape? I shakes my jars and it’s been a week and a half and no growth - it was growing fine before that! It’s the only thing I can find that could’ve affected but have not found info on this... thanks again!!

Shook a jar of lung oyster myc on popcorn a couple days ago and no growth has returned. No visible contamination either. Could it just be too dry? It looks fairly dry. That jar's unshaken and equally prepared brothers are growing, but very slowly. About half an inch in a week. It's a clone from the wild (cleaned with agar work), though, so that might be why it's so slow.

I've heard that you can let the green jars fully colonize then dunk them in a bleach mixture (100:1) afterwards. The bleach kills the green mold, and, you can still use it successfully. It sounds very interesting imo. I get a green jar every so often, even when I'm super careful being clean. This "tek" would save a lot of time and money.
