Do I have to allow air into the tent, as im worried about spreading trich through my tent if it presents itself or can I leave it enclosed like how this grow simulates?

78! Gram wet PE shrooms in an inflatable monotub 45$ amazon. Best flushes I ever gotten I’ve been making tubs for years. My advice is go smaller and try the inflatable I’ve never gotten contam in the inflatable tubs but anything bigger than 32 quarts and if u add a late casing layer u will most likely get Trichaderma. And if that happens don’t open the tub remove it front the grow area and as much as it suck toss it in the compost pile. I’ve contaminated my whole tent trying to save 1 tub. 😂😂😂 live and learn. Also don’t open them unless it absolutely necessary. Let them ride and whe. Fruiting don’t open till u about ready to harvest

If I were to do just one shoe box instead of four like in the video, which yields an ounce of dry fruit, that doesn't seem like "bulk." So why would I need to worry so much about sterilization? As he said there are all kinds of bacteria floating around the air, how the hell would I keep the bin sterile while putting in the substrate and spores?
@@RC-hv1yx He means that when you are creating spawn (grain with spores to colonize) the bowls, grain and cap need to be sterile or you'll have mold for sure there.

I think he's just using coir. I grow on CVG - Coco Coir, Vermiculite, Gypsum - which I have found to help my grows. Coir alone works just fine though with proper pasteurization/sterilization
Very nice. A few tips I use. I like to pack the edge, add more coir to level to help stop side-pinning, and I wash my hands with Hibiclens (chlorhexidine gluconate) without any issues going w/o gloves. Also wanted to note the vid thumbnail is using millet as food, and I like it best for similar dense growth and many good flushes.
Ive tried so many times. Ive used bags ive used jars ive used petri dishes ive used toats. Every time it gets that green and blue mold. The only time ive grown mushrooms is one time i squirted half a syringe into a 50 gal pot i was growing bud in organically. Mycelium took over the whole top layer about and inch thick just under the surface. But it never fruited. It was Ecuadorian cubensis i think, was years ago.
whats your sterile workspace like? I see tons of people using box fans and furnace filters, which I do not recommend. Either use a properly made SAB or commercial grade laminar flow hood. I've been using a SAB for over 10 years!

There are studies showing that full spectrum blue light or white light are the best for mushrooms. Even while kept in 24/7 light scenarios with no periods of darkness. They prefer far-end blue light so full spectrum blue light is the best, like 7000K but I go with 6000K full spectrum which is slightly blue. 5000k is absolute white and is still better than red light. Red lights hinder mushroom growth.
OK, I have a question: When I'm traveling in a camper(min)van, I want to grow mushrooms. BUT I only have room for the smaller showbox. Is that larger box on the outside absolutely necessary? I would love to add mushrooms to my already small microgreen garden, but space is a concern.
Did you use any heating ? What strain is this? I never seen somwtjing so huge. Question , once you first flush. Theres a layer of myceliyn or aborted small pins that i cant remove( thry get squished) how do you rehydrate ? With out it rotting ?
I grew mycellium in a bag. when it was white and started to grow mushrooms inside i moved to a shoe box and covered with soil. It pinned everywhere so I moved to fruiting box with air vents and light. After 2 weeks nothing had happened really so I spritzed with water. Been another week still nothing really has happened. What Am I doing wrong?
update. Ive noticed a secondary like mold hairs growing on the leftover pins.. It must have been contaminated. I had been lifting the top off my flowering box 2X a day for air for a few sec.

Is there a way to encourage native, wild mushrooms to grow outside? I have no intention of eating them, I just love all the little mushrooms that occasionally pop up in my yard, but I'm wondering if there's a way to get them to show up more often. I cannot use manure even if I wanted to, so anything other than that. Compost and a lot of misting maybe?
you can fruit shoeboxes without a monotub, but I highly recommend using one. lots of people just take a 2nd tub and put it on top, a dub-tub. I never liked those too much.

Brother that’s the point of a tent or still air box. So airflow isn’t stirring contaminants. So the chances are better there but you should wear gloves. Just lazy and careless to lot imo
Made them myself... Jammed a screwdriver thru a glass coke bottle cap then heated the bottle cap with a torch and then pushed the hot bottle cap thru the plastic. Be careful not to touch the hot plastic, and a make spot to catch dripping plastic between holes while reheating.
i get the 5 kilo blocks. theres several brands. yeah I cook my grains, I prefer triple cleaned equine oats from a farm/ranch store or kroger brand wild bird seed (in the pet aisle). you can find links to the Amazon products in the video description!
Yeah you'll need pasteurized, or sterilized coir (you just buy regular coco coir and do it yourself). I grow on CVG - Coco Coir, Vermiculite, Gypsum - and I know it's probably overkill, but I pressure cook it at 15PSI for 2 hours before use.

What’s the point of the shoeboxes if they fruit in a monotub anyway? I’m honestly asking I’m gonna start another run but am stuck between monotub or shoebox/dub tub
The point is to grow mushrooms. This tek is not intended to replace monotubs at all. Its for people that use shoeboxes and want the best way to fruit them. Monos have positive qualities all their own. A few reasons you might want to do this method... 1. You don't have to mix multiple jars of spawn together. 1 spawn jar = one shoebox. 2. You can grow more than one variety in the same space. 3. They are easier to manage than a full size mono substrate at harvest and cleanup.
Coconut Coir! It's a common substrate used and is easy to work with, since there aren't many nutrients inside of it (reduces contamination risk). I grow on CVG - Coco Coir, Vermiculite, Gypsum
these shrooms remind me of brains, all this is about activating your brain up to 100% which we lazy and not stimulated to do usually.. however spirituality comes from the heart to activate it no shrooms will help but your own will, thats my belief even though I like trips and all that, but this is all for the brain.
I have two shoe boxes fruiting 1 with sub and 2 ub's and 1 ub by itself to see what happens but i have 5 ub's inoculating separate but they all are colonizing at different speeds
Pasteurizing is enough for monotub substrates. There is no point in sterilizing when the grow will take place in a non-sterile environment. You must however sterilize your spawn.

Sometimes we draw an unlucky hand with the culture we germinate. I had 2 Gandalf cultures last year that would remained completely healthy but did not fruit at all. If you have a similar experience, I'd just go back to spores and start a new culture.

With coir I don't wear gloves, but any bagged substrate material that has manure, definitely wear gloves.

@ I never gotten blobs and I don’t add any casing just a fine layer and I send straight into fruiting conditions
@ also almost every time I used a big tubs I added a casing layer and everything else I did I either got Trich or cobweb mold

Once you spawn to bulk, there is no need for sterile technique. Before that though, it is needed.

I used agar to produce clean spawn from quality genetics. Thats pretty much the gist of it!
I let my grain spawn go until it's almost all white with mycelium.

Coir is ideal because it’s nutrient deficient. Thus, contaminants won’t inherently grow on it

Plain coir is just fine. The main thing is clean spawn to begin with.

this method is actually mostly just for psilocybin mushrooms. gourmet mushrooms don't do well with this technique.

do you leave foil on those jars after inoculating them when you use the method of turning the lid
unmodded flipped lids don't need foil at any point ever! one of the big reasons I like it.

Could I do a normal grow bag, wait for the grain to colonize, then mix it and transfer it to a box like this?
certainly and I would recommend that as bags are not the best fruiting chamber option

What is the core
Coconut Coir! It's a common substrate used and is easy to work with, since there aren't many nutrients inside of it (reduces contamination risk). I grow on CVG - Coco Coir, Vermiculite, Gypsum

these shrooms remind me of brains, all this is about activating your brain up to 100% which we lazy and not stimulated to do usually.. however spirituality comes from the heart to activate it no shrooms will help but your own will, thats my belief even though I like trips and all that, but this is all for the brain.

some cultures grow lots of small mushrooms. this culture grows a few very large mushrooms. overall yield is the same.

Ive got some Golden teachers growing but im seeing an issue they were pinning but turned into lil fat balls with no stem
Why is this happening
Mutations we call them blobs. You can try the next tub adding a compacted 2" top layer of coir at spawning. Seems to help with the issues.
I have two shoe boxes fruiting 1 with sub and 2 ub's and 1 ub by itself to see what happens but i have 5 ub's inoculating separate but they all are colonizing at different speeds

Pasteurizing is enough for monotub substrates. There is no point in sterilizing when the grow will take place in a non-sterile environment. You must however sterilize your spawn.

Ngl its almost two weeks no pins yet
Sometimes we draw an unlucky hand with the culture we germinate. I had 2 Gandalf cultures last year that would remained completely healthy but did not fruit at all. If you have a similar experience, I'd just go back to spores and start a new culture.
