  • In this video I discuss shaking grain jars for mushroom cultivation. Shaking grain jars aka "break & shake" refers to breaking up the colonized grain in your jar or which ever container you are using for spawn. This step is important for at least two reasons because it can speed up total colonization speed as well as reveal concealed contamination. if you enjoy the video drop a like and subscribe if you haven't. 😄

    The last bit of the vid was exactly what I needed to see and hear, I got amazon on rice and the rice has a blueish tent to it. I can tell it's not contam, I didn't cook my rice long enough so it's really low on moisture and I think that's what'd making it bruise. Idk ig I'll know by the smell 😂

      Your welcome man, I threw a jar away once because it bruised and I didn't know anything about it. So I figured mentioning it would probably help someone. 🙂

    I’m trying the broke boi tech by PGT and I’ve had a few jars start to go bad, I boil water, add rice, simmer for 10 min, then let it dry for 10-15 min (shaking in-between) then steam sterilize for 120min, every goes well at first and I’ve had success in the past, but this has me a little bit frustrated… any recommendations on what to do, buy a pc? I love your channel and you’ve helped out so much!

    i prepped grain jars like 2 or 3 days ago, will probably be another 2 or 3 till i inoculate them. they looked over hydrated when i took them out of the pc(lots of condensation in the jars) but now they look dry, sounds dry against the glass when i shake it, is that normal or are they underhydrated?

    • @depraved420
      @depraved420  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@TheSubliminalCriminal it's really hard to say but first, most grain jars look really wet when you take them out of the PC, that's normal as long as it doesn't make a big pool of water in the bottom. When you first take them out, shake them up and then every couple hours check on them and shake them again, the moisture will redistribute and re absorb. The grain being dry or not is hard to say not being there. If it sounds like dry grain it might be, there should be some indication of moisture, like condensation in the jar. Are the jars just regular jars? With normal lids or do you have modified lids?

      @@depraved420 i have 2 jars of popcorn and 2 of rice and they both had a bit of water pool in the bottom at first but now yeah theres no condensation even, just 1quart mason jars with a hole and 2 layers of micropore.
      i also put 2 packs of uncle bens ready in a jar with the same modified lid and that looks properly moist still..

      Keep my poisons natural these days. About to add mushrooms too. Not one of those people that can go through life sober. But natural stuff has never diluted my ambitiousness or caused legal problems either. Man made stuff can be evil but it also has its place in the medical world. Mushrooms of all nature's are doing some pretty incredible stuff for people's health. I would highly recommend taking some time to understand mushrooms and not just psilocybe species although they are right up there with the rest when it comes to the benefits they have.

    Is it possible to shake to early? Is it bad

    • @depraved420
      @depraved420  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not necessarily bad, it's not really going to hurt the mycelium, if you shake it to early though it will usually slow the colonization down. Around 30% is when most ppl shake. You want to give it a chance to get going before you shake it. Hope that helps. 🍄❤️

    • @davids11131113
      @davids11131113 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn’t shake very early from spores like when people first see some whispy bit of mycelium forming in a jar from spore syringe, let it get pretty well established first. If you did grain to grain transfer there’s already quite a lot of mycelium in the new grain so that won’t matter if you shake it.
