Wltoys k989 Mini Rc Drift Project Episode is about Austar Rc drift wheels and tyres upgrade from the Kyosho Mini Z that are so cheap and way better than making your own drift wheels from PVC or tape mod
The stock k989 tires are soft rubber with lot's of grip and very good racing tyres to beat the Kyosho mini z on the race track but we are going to modify it into a drift car using mini q parts
This first episode is all about reviewing and testing the Austar Rc drift wheels and tyres
Going over the plastic rims that are available in four colors red, blue, chrome and champagne
The front rims are 9mm wide and the rear is 11mm wide and have 1 a 2mm offset making the wheelbase 2 to 4mm wider at the rear compared to the front
There are 2 sets of drift tires that fit these rims
The 6802 have a wide contact surface and a high angle of chamber
The 6803 have little contact surface and zero camber
With the 2 sets of tyres, you can fine tune your car for each different surface like carpet stone or wooden floor camber
tyres on the front and rear wheels and start using 6802 with high camber to the front wheels after the camber mod done to the car

Bro u got me so into drifting I also wanted to have a mini RC drift car but the price uhhh , bruh ...., Anyway thanks, I recently ordered tune parts tyres, wheels (but firelap) and shock tower
Glad I could help :D price of drift cars have a heavy drift tax on them but wltoys k series sell for around 30euro and drift parts are darn cheap compare to 1/10 scale cars

Your car is coming along nicely.
These chrome wheels are very cool. Unfortunately the tyre's outside diameter and width are a bit bigger than original Mini-Z so they are not interchangeable. But they offer more grip than Mini-Z tyes and perfect for WLtoys where the weight throws the car around a lot. Pair them together and you got a proper and competent low budget drift car.

Ya the chrome doesn't look bad and the tires work really good for drifting just need to do the angle mod to really get them to work proper
shame they don't fit on the mini z they look so similar
I only paid 20dollars and the mods are going to be about 30dollars that the perfect budget for me

Those tires are great, it has good traction with full control of the car while sliding at any speed going sideways.

Yes you can use the flat tires whit the rims no problem with a stock wltoys k989
if you like to use the tires with an angle you need to upgrade / modify the k989 or else it won't drift easy

the brushless motor upgrade needs a new ESC and receiver with radio yes
but i didn't need a brushless to have a great drift car and the brush motors are really cheap and last a long time

I actually bookmarked a link to the WLToys K969 Drift Car which is also 1/28 scale brushed motor RC Car. Do you know anything regarding that particular car compared to the K989? Thanks for the reply and Happy Driving!
The K969 is that porche body with drift wheels and soft front bumper

Nice upgrade. I have the same tires on my Mini Z but since it's a rwd it doesn't drift that cool!
wow you have Kyosho mini z that´s cool
those are really expansive I think there is a micro-gyro that you can use
to improve the rwd drifting just forget the name but you really need a gyro
I lucky and go to a front one way diff very soon
Well I just bought it some years ago for some indoor action. But the smallest cat hair stops the car :D So it actually carries a lot of dust :D I guess I need to check out you little drifter :)

other ways check ebay because back then i found 10 body that might fit with some trimming from vw beetle and porsche jeep and usa cars

How To DIY Rc What size lug wrench do you need for the k989? Where can you purchase one? I’ve read it’s an M2 4mm but my 4mm socket is too big. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!
