Resistance, capacitance and inductance are the three components of impedance. And impedance is an AC property. Digital signal transmission is not an AC function, it's a DC function. And parity checks are there to ensure that if any data is corrupted, it gets caught and corrected before it's converted to AC so it can be broadcast to the speaker(s). All those very basic fundamentals understood, one can easily see why cables have no ability to have an effect on digital signal transmission. Assuming the conductors are large enough to carry the current, which is seriously tiny. But hey, psychoacoustics is definitely real....
If noise weren't a factor in sound quality and system performance, everything you just said would be true. (Except the part about error correction as that doesn't happen in USB audio transfers)

There is super easy way to know IF the USB cable actually does anything to the sound. Take super uber highress audio file. Send it to external drive or memory card with different cables. Now take the files back with the same cables to the computer. Open sound editing software and compare the files. IF they are 100% same then what does it mean? You guessed it. If the files are not the same you got cable that actually remaster the sound by it self to better. Now that is some harry potter magic and you have now made history by proving unicorn and witches to be real :D
Unfortunately this isn’t enough to test the cable. From what I understand copying a file using usb is a different process to isochronous real-time USB audio. A file copy does checks to ensure the file was copying perfectly. These checks are impossible with real-time USB audio
@@therumbler The USB audio 1.0 had problems BUT USB audio 2.0 has speed of a 480 MB/s. Packets are 100% secure and clocking is done in a DAC so no jitter problems either. In home with 1 - 2 meter USB 2.0 cable pulls your data is 100% secure. 100%
You're overlooking the influence of noise transmitted (and filtered) by the cable. No one is suggesting that the data is altered or damaged by any USB cable.
@@PassionforSound if you got hisses or noises you got faulty system anyway and spending hundreds on a bandage like new USB cable isnt the right way to go.
Hi lachlan, cables is like doing Australian Rules Football on a minefield.....Science has proven time and time this issue is a non starter.......monster cable have so much to answer for.....
Bought the Ricable Invictus from the australian website few months ago, quite a significant difference in sound it made in my system, was previously using an audioquest USB cable.
I'm using the Excalibur for some time now. I'm going to try the Magnus on your behalf. If its not the truth what you just said I buy a ticket Amsterdam Sidney to collect the money i spend on this Magnus . And, by the way : Nice video again 👍
I've got an Oyaide too - not sure if it's the same as yours, it's a flat one - and the Magnus is much better to my ears. Interesting that the RCAs are good too. Thanks for letting us know.
If you need a longish length USB cable (up to 15m), I'd say go for the basic Supra cable. For a 4m run I paid £60 in Apr '23. The length I required was the main reason I bought it -- can't say I've heard much difference in USB cables, just wanted to be sure distance wasn't going to be a problem. I leave it to my DDC, DAC and external clock to ensure things sound optimal.
I've been using the QED Reference High Resolution USB cable for a few years now. It's their top usb cable and I don't feel the need to change it. You can get it for £75 in UK.
Now I can't decide between the AA Audio SG USB and the Ricable Invictus😫 Does anyone have a brief summary on how they might compare against each other?
I feel left out of the cable argument clique as I've just been listening to a CD of Enrico Caruso's first recordings starting with the AICC And Pathe Discs and Cylinders, Recorded between 1900 and 1901. Wet string would probably reproduce these recordings as good as the most expensive cables 😁 I guess my point being that it's no good dropping a second mortgage on equipment if what you listen to comes from sources that sound just as good on budget equipment. I do listen to modern recordings but then I hit old age hearing issues, I tried my friends £1600 Hifiman HE1000SE and couldn't really tell any difference between them and my Edition XS ones with historic recordings. I've listened to some modern demo music designed to show off headphones, and I'd rather listen to most of it through wet string 😬 Have a great Christmas and I hope Santa brings you all the Vegimite flavoured ice cream you can eat. 😂
you CAN NOT use (USB) cables to change the sound of your system ...its physically impossible ... coming from an engineer so not some opinion but hard facts.
As I understand it, the noise can originate from the source device (e.g. computer) and/or can be picked up from the environment. From there it can enter the downstream DAC and mess with the timing accuracy and/or the output stage of the DAC. It will depend partly on the design of the DAC exactly where and how noise might travel. There also might be more to it still that I don't understand. I've got a video coming up next describing why it matters so much though.
I appreciate your reviews of cables, and I suspect many people will find it hard to believe and understand their importance, but who cares my friend, you’re doing us all a service. 👌🏼🤘🏻

@27b-6Buttle just do a Google search for yourself. I'm not here to convince anyone if anything.
So, if l connect my printer with this type of cable I'll get more vivid, more contrasty, better saturated prints. Amazing.

It's not that kind of noise. System noise doesn't have to be obviously audible to make a difference to our perception of the system's sound

Because they influence the performance of audio systems

Nice price. I haven't tried that one, but would love to find better and cheaper options to recommend.
Have you ever tried a USB reclocker? Wondering where $ is better spent: on a reclocker or on a better USB cable....
I use the Singxer SU-6 DDC which also reclocks and I'd recommend something like that ahead of cables because I think the impact is larger.
An Australian complaining that the USB connector is upside-down. Oh the irony.

A great video but not for me as my digital source (Mac Mini) is over 10 feet away from my DAC I did not even look into such lengths lol.
Yep. I wouldn't do USB over that distance either.
For the price, I’d rather invest in a DDC… which I did.
That's fair enough. It's a good investment.

Cables make zero difference with digital signals. There isn’t any difference in “clarity” or “depth”. There isn’t any difference period.
I disagree.
Of course it would not be a cable discussion if a flat earther didn’t chime in 😅. You don’t have to watch those videos, buddy.

No, just fluctuating voltages and noise...
