    Freaking sweet! The stock height Tundra has always looked so grounded compared to other stock full sized trucks, so this lift (all though not over kill) really makes the Tundra look like it belongs further off road. Now it's time to ditch that low hanging front bumper. Love it, bro!

    i did the OME 3inch kit (old man emu) with the add a leaf. love the added rear lift and other people with me tell me to slow down. i can go faster off road and not notice it! Glaaad you did it right the first time around- I plan on the bp-51s adjustable shocks/struts in the future to tune the ride softer on the trails and harder on the street. The OME kit is a good balance as i needed something for the camper shell and decked system on top of the already heavy arb front bumper!

I have been looking at king 2.5, icon 2.5, and even considering fox 2.5 if they ever came out with their coil over for my vehicle. Why’s the tent on backwards? Sorry if this has already been covered.

    • @KrokemOutdoors
      @KrokemOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      HSWDeaconblues it’s form factor mainly. Since it’s mounted low I don’t need to point the thinner front side forward, since aero Dynamics isn’t an issue. And plus, having it backwards give the truck a teardrop style design

    • @HSWDeaconblues
      @HSWDeaconblues 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Edward Shin, I’ve got a Gen 1 Raptor set up very similarly. Watch the screws that attach the tent rails to the iKamper platform. I’ve found they come loose over heavy washboard even with awesome shocks and springs. I went with Kings and Deavers but same ideas as yours. Good luck!

  • @chrisk3488
    @chrisk3488 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Does the increased range of suspension travel have any long term effects on drive shaft/cv joints?

    • @KrokemOutdoors
      @KrokemOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Chris K absolutely does. The wear on the drive shaft and joints tend to happen at a greater speed when the angle is shifted as a result of a suspension lift. Unfortunately that Is something that must be taken into account when doing modifications like these. For example, you can expect greater wear on brake pads and rotors when getting substantially bigger tires, but have to decide if the trade off is worth it.

    • @blackwaterlotus8124
      @blackwaterlotus8124 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Something called axle wrap with leaf pack lifted trucks occurs, you can do a couple of things, use an under the axle leaf pack from Deaver Co. or you can use traction bars from a company like SDHQ. For overlanding under the axle leafs offer the most superior leaf spring performance, but it adds a few inches under the axle reducing clearance there, something to consider. This is wear if you still need clearance traction bars can come into play. I have a build going now, but I am undecided if I'll run Deaver or Alcan leaf springs. We'll see.

    @JoMonki 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I just got back from my home shop and was talking to them about stage 6 Icons. As an overlanding rig is there a difference between the 6 and 9? I know you touch upon the reasoning for stage 9 but compared to the stage 6 not sure if the stage 9 is worth it or not?

    • @KrokemOutdoors
      @KrokemOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      JoMonki from what I understand, the 9 will give you the rxt leaf springs and rxt cdcv 2.5 rear shocks compared to the pb cdcv and leaf expansion pack on the 6. So if you already have aftermarket leaf spring packs and don’t mind having a shorter piggybacked reservoir (instead of the longer remote rear reservoir), the 6 should suffice 👍

    • @KrokemOutdoors
      @KrokemOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @907blkout I love the ride so far. I’ve noticed two things so far; I had to get a bump stop spacer separately from icon in order to give an additional quarter inch lift in the front (total lift in the front is now at 2.5 inches). Second, the leaf spring pack that comes with the stage 9 started to squeak a little after a few months, and I found out later that the u bolts need to be retorqued to tighten up the leafpack; the squeak was gone after that

    • @KrokemOutdoors

      Joseph Le Blanc II I’m not too familiar with the area, but there’s a guy named Chase with an Instagram account called adventure.overland that may be able to provide some suggestions since he lives out there 👍

      @@KrokemOutdoors Thank you sir! Good lookin tundra btw! I've got a 2017 cement grey TRD PRO & I'd like a lil bit more lift to eventually fit 37s for the bigger obstacles. Thank you for your assistance!

    Big shocks are so hard to sell people on. You have to literally experience it. I tell people about my King Shocks and the ride all the time. And dudes are convinced their Bilstein's are just as good, and they don't need larger shocks because they aren't "desert racing" or "jumping' which I think is the biggest misconception out there. Everyone, especially the overlander can benefit from larger shocks with good valving and the stability, control and COMFORT they offer you on and off-road.

    • @KrokemOutdoors
      @KrokemOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Offroad Treks agreed. I couldn’t believe how much of a difference it was riding the icon tundra and knew I had to have it on my rig

    Awesome set up. You'll have to give us an update on it in like 6 months. How's the Northstar Battery holding up? And are you leaning toward a dual battery?

    • @KrokemOutdoors
      @KrokemOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      NUMB LOCK the north star has been great so far. Haven’t had one issue yet, and I think it will be that way for a while! No plans for a dual battery since I use my portable power banks for additional power. It’s been working well so far 👍

    So what makes icon better than king or king better than icon or are they the same?? Lol I am building my blue pro might of seen it on instagram OVLBLUE, it with Uptop Overland right now and was told today that I will have to up grade my suspension 😬 which I don’t want to but if I have to I don’t know what to go with lol

    • @KrokemOutdoors
      @KrokemOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rasul Omar I love the icons because I had a chance to experience them first and immediately knew I wanted my tundra to feel the same off road. With that said, I’ve never ridden on a rig with kings, so I don’t know how they are. They might be awesome though. But there are so many choices out there! Good luck on the build bro, I love your page 👍

      Edward Shin I did notice that there are many stages to icon and maybe icon is set more to overland style off-roading than king being race fast pace driving that’s why I get from comparing the two companies your truck is coming out really good

    I wish ICON would verify how high of a lift this setup actually adds on their website, , I know you said a little over 3 inches, but I really would like to know the added hieght, seeing that I am in the market for leaf springs myself. Great video.
