Great to see the older generation telling the stories to the younger generations. Kids always forget that we were young!
for me, Ann & Nancy are like Page & Plant. They are the sexiest most talented women of rock in roll history. I love those ladies.
Anything is better than Courtney Love
Yeah, me too. And Pat Benatar of course.
Stands to reason since they were huge Zeppelin fans and performed Led Zeppelin songs early on.
This is a great rock band that started in the 70's. Ann Wilson has one of the most powerful female voices. And her sister Nancy can play a mean guitar. They have had so many great hits such as "Crazy on You", "Magic Man", "What About Love", "Never", "Dog & Butterfly", "These Dreams", "Alone" etc. In 2012 Ann & Nancy performed at the Kennedy Center Honors in a tribute to Led Zeppelin doing their classic song "Stairway To Heaven".
And best thing is her voice is still amazing and absolutely blows people away despite being in her 70s. Nancy still going strong too.
I was a Teenage Boy (16) when their 1st Album came out and they became my #1 Band. I seen ❤ in concert 3 times and hope that I can make it #4 at their August 18th Concert in Lincoln Nebraska.
We also have to remember Pat Benetar and Joan Jett and Debbie Harry from Blondie
I'm 62 My youngest daughter is 12 she was wildly bobbing her head hair going all over the place dancing and singing along to this recording on youtube and I sang along as well. She stopped and asked "You know this song?!" I saw them in concert decades before you were born kid.
Lol
Ann has the best female rock voice of all time bar none.
Definitely up there with Linda Ronstadt (and now Floor Jansen.) When it comes to range, power, and versatilty, those are the holy trinity.
@@jpdemer5 And Grace Slick
You have clearly never heard of Suze DeMarchi.
Ann is awesome, by the way!
@@blairdenholm4167 haha
3 generations togheter, really amazing and great fun ! Nice idea. Enjoy such a sweet family
Thank you so much 😊
Much respect and appreciation for yall 3 Roses from the lone star.
Thanks
Seen them in concert around 1980. Ann is the singer and the blond on guitar is Nancy her sister. The Wilson sisters.
They performed yesterday at my job... AMAZING!!!
1977: Sometimes you could hear it coming simultaneously from several cars passing by with windows down while cruising the drag on Friday nights...
This was and is a great song, but most people never knew the real reason it was written.
The meaning behind this song, Ann has said:
"There was this one sleazy guy at a record company or promoter - I can’t even remember where from, exactly. You know that type; there’s a lot of those kinds of guys in this business. And he was like, because of our album cover where we had bare shoulders touching … “So, Ann, how’s your lover?” And she goes, “Oh, yeah, Mike’s great!” And he goes, “No, no, I mean your sister, haha!” So, the insinuation that we were lovers was, of course, not anywhere near true and really sleazy and inappropriate. "
That song started out as a personal revenge-type of song, but the longer it was out in the world and the longer we played it, it became more universal because there’s so many damn barracudas out there everywhere. You could be talking to any number of barracudas when you’re singing that song on stage. So, I think people want to feel a little bit outraged at the people that are barracudas out there in the world and there’s plenty of them!
Thanks for the information.
The sisters get most of the attention (well earned). But the band was phenomenal too.
When you ladies go for more Heart , may I recommend the live version of " Crazy On You " . Nancy opens with an acoustic guitar solo that has to be experienced .
It was right there! Your friend was having a "HEART ATTACK"!
I like how they all have their groove move
I remember when Heart hit the scene....It was an instantaneous hit. OP.
Man the days of my youth. I still jam on it on my way to work or whatever.
I Remember this Song Coming Out in '77 I don't think I saw the Video till TH-cam in the Early 2000's Classic Rock. Ann Wilson has got to be the Greatest Female Rock Artist of All Time!
That back bumper story in a southern accent just cracked me up. Wonderful.
My kids were born mid 90s and I raised them on 80s and classic rock. My adult daughter and I saw Heart in concert in 2019, just before Covid hit. They were fantastic. And, you MUST check out their performance at Kennedy Center honoring Led Zeppelin.
1976. What a year for rock. 🎸🤘
That is a real singer. None of that fake auto-tune!
Since you’re into country music, Gretchen Wilson sung this live on a VH1 music awards, and did an amazing job. She sung it with Nancy Wilson on guitar (blond sister). She’s good friends with them and sometimes sings the song live with them. She’s so close to them, they call her a third sister, and coincidentally her last name is “Wilson” too. Btw, us rockers were hoping Gretchen Wilson would put out a rock album. I guess her heart is country, but her vocals are well capable for rock music. And yes, I’m aware of her song “Red Neck Woman” that proves her loyalty to country music.
play this with all your windows open and you might get cool points. They would know that you mean business. Iconic song from an iconic band. Seen them in concert.
New subscriber from Vancouver Island, Canada. Love your channel concept with multi generations!
Awesome! Thank you!
There is a modern all female hard rock band called Plush who cover this song really well in concert.
Added them to our list.
Love how lead mom schooling the younglings on Heart ❤️ driving around in 1976 listening to Heart on 8-track…. You tell’em girl 🤘🏼 O.G.
"We don't have a town." I am dying over here.
So this is my second video watching y'all.
Lulu is a flippin' star. Y'all raised her right and it shows.
Thank you so much.
love this song what a vocalist.
You bring back so many cruisin’ memories…
Hope y’all do more reactions.
I'm so glad my parents raised me on 70's and 80's rock.
Hi! Next should do "COME ON" from Oktaf Kanis 🤟🏻😍
Saw Heart as a backup band, they were touring with April Wine in Kelowna Canada in 1976,what a show!and them ladies were 🔥
Check out Heart's "Crazy On You" Live 1978 version. There are other versions out there but this one is my favorite in part due to Nancy's longer guitar intro.
crazy on you and magic man are phenomenel
Ann Wilson is the singer, and Nancy Wilson was the guitarist. They were amazing in concert.
Still are; I just saw Ann Wilson in concert back in June this year and she's still amazing at 73.
@@viewfromthehighchair9391 cool
Saw the Wilson sisters multiple times in concert, in Seattle. Amazing talent
Doesn’t Ann still live there?
These ladies are amazing in person. I saw them in 81 in Orlando at the Citrus Bowl stadium, along with Cheap Trick and Blue Oyster Cult. Definitely one of the best concerts of my life.
"Magic Man", "Crazy On You", "Straight On", "Dog and Butterfly" to name a few of their very early hits..Also back in 2012 they perfoemed the Led Zeppelin song at the Kennedy center which was honoring Led Zeppelin. If you should react to it look for the full version..The shorter version was edited for tv...By the way Ann is about 73 now and her sister Nancy is about 69...They both are still at it but with separate bands..
Added them to our list.
Yes! I SAW HEART in concert right before COVID hit. They still kick ass! ❤❤❤❤
I saw Heart in concert at The Bayfront Center in St. Petersburg, FL back in the 1980's. One of the best concerts I've ever been to!!! These gals really put on a show!💖🎵🎶😄👍👍
Oh wow!
I'm 65 years old. Back in the late 70's, I was in high school, and had the biggest crush on Nancy Wilson. While Ann was the lead vocalist, and always out front, I always preferred Nancy's looks and singing, though there are not a lot of Heart songs with her voice in the lead. There was just something about Nancy that had this young Texan's heart going pitter-pat! Check out Nancy's voice singing lead, on "These Dreams," a song that came much later in their career ..... Basically, after their comeback in the late 80's.
The studio recording dubbed over a concert version (for some reason), when/if you get chance, listen to the actual concert version, seriously awesome too.
Yes they do still tour . So maybe go see them live
Ann Wilson recently did a song with Disturbed and I think you might like it. She's still awesome, as is Nancy!!❤
Super great reaction! I grew up in the 70s so I'm right there with you!
Glad you enjoyed
Great reaction, Ladies!
Kudos to you all!
Thank you!! 😁
Heart is my favorite band. I saw their concert in the 70's. They were even better live. No fancy production, just great songs. My favorite Heart song is Alone.
I enjoy LuLu’s reactions. Reminds me when I heard these songs for the first time.
If you haven't, check out Heart's music video for their song Alone. I think you may like it.
I lived close to Seattle and grew up with Heart in my teens. I saw them many times and they were awesome live. so fun to watch you react to them.
Thanks
Seattle native...It's why I am here.
Ann was the singer Nancy was the guitarist.
I saw them several years ago. So emotional for me! I cried through most of it. Please react to "Alone"! You won't be disappointed.
Added it to the list.
Saw them in 1977, same year as this video, great show!
Great Reaction
Thank you
Been a Heart fan since the 1970's.😊
You're all COLLECTIVELY funny. Get well soon Kathy.
The studio version of the audio doesn't quite match up with the live version video; but you get the idea.
The Title Track "Little Queen" is definitely a dance and sing along song. All of Little Queen, and Dreamboat Annie are great. "Love Alive" is beautiful. "Sylvan Song" together with
"Dream Of The Archer" is a must.
Added to the list.
The singer is Ann Wilson not Nancy. Nancy plays guitar.
Nancy sang lead on their first number one hit.
@@ninline2000 wasn't it Baracuda?
Nancy sang lead on "These Dreams."
That's true. The most famous song is Barracuda. Many years before these dreams. No problem.
Hi guys, I recommend to Come On by Oktaf Kanis ❤
Yes I need this too 🤟🏻😍
@@AnitaRoman9 Woohoooo!
Saw them live in Oakland California back in 78' Totally awesome.
Just watched the live version of this from the Howard Stern Show. They explained the story behind this song. No wonder the song sounded so rocking and angry. I would recommend checking the Live Stern Show version of it.
Great fun! Heart is an amazing band. Work on getting either individual mics or better seat to mic placement if you must share the one. Aside from sound issues, I thought you all did a great job. I am an old guy who well remembers this song hitting the airwaves, and what a force these sisters were in the music scene.
Working on it!
That, ladies, is one of THE best, if not THE best female vocalist in rock. The female version of Robert Plant from Led Zeppelin.
Ladies can still be ladies and still absolutely tear the lid off full-force! Tell me a ‘lady’ or a woman can’t do this and you’re showing your ignorance of at least Heart.
Hard core! Full force! Not ‘just’ feminine force….no…just FORCE PERIOD!! Undeniable! Strong! Super! Outstanding songwriting, arrangement, lyrics, vocal delivery! Everything! 🙂
Grand ma Got good taste!
Beautiful family here. Cool!
The world is awesome, watching you,s
Well ladies it's easy to see you enjoying some of the finer things in life. Would absolutely love to see you react to Peter Frampton " do you feel like we do " live . So fine on many things 😊
We will add that to our list.
Crazy On You Live next. Saw them a few times. Amazing shows!! Rock On!!
Heart is one is one of Seattle's Best bands even though some think they are from Canada just because they hung out at Canada a lot..
Great music and talented artists. Those were the 70s . Miss those days so much.
The song is about a record company executive who was trying to exploit the band and take most of the money. (Pretty much what Taylor Swift was facing half a century later ... I guess greed never goes out of style.) The lyrics make you wonder what else he was after, but Ann never said anything about it.
I believe the Professor of Rock does an interview with Anne, and she talks about it . . .
You guys should check out Angeline Saris. She’s an incredible bassist. “Come Undone”.
Barracuda was an attack on the establishment music industry. Heart was rejecting the industry contracts.
Family lore is inimitable...
3 generations of "Rock Face"!
Ann Wilson has probably the best female voice in all of rock! Of course, Pat Benatar is up there too, but Ann is on top!
You guys are cute! Love your southern drawl. From a westerner 🤠
Thanks
checkin in...
I wanted to give you girls a great recommendation for a video. It was a special time in the 80s where they made this. Dee Snider the lead singer of twisted sister couldn't be in the video because he had to go to court. But this is the most metal song of all time. Check out hear n aid- we're stars. A bunch of metal Legends got together for one song.
Hello Trio, I don't recall the actual story completely. The Gist of it is that the Wilson Sisters wrote " Barracuda " as a response the being done dirty by a record company executive, who cheated them. They were calling him a barracuda.
They absolutely do still put on a tremendous show. If you gals want to see what Ann & Nancy Wilson can do live, check out this live performance of "Bebe Le Strange" from 2019: ( th-cam.com/video/u7qUlD8_NOI/w-d-xo.html ) and, of course, their epic cover of Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" ( th-cam.com/video/LFxOaDeJmXk/w-d-xo.html ) as part of the Kennedy Center Honors ceremony. 🙂
The story behind this song ("Barracuda") isn't quite so fun, unfortunately. They were angry about an advertisement which their record label at the time, Mushroom Records, had placed in certain trade publications which was worded in a way that implied that Ann and Nancy were lesbian lovers having an affair. (It didn't come out and *say* so, of course, but it was clearly meant to stir up publicity by making people go "hmm"...) Ann found out about it when a promoter came up to her after a concert and asked her how her "lover" was; at first, she thought he was asking about her boyfriend at the time, but when she found out he meant her sister Nancy, she was (understandably) furious, and she and Nancy wrote the song in their hotel room, comparing the sleazier side of the music business to a fast, aggressive predator that could turn around and bite you at any moment.
listen to Alone, Magic Man Crazy on you. Alone is my favorite
Added them to the list.
Greatest female Rock band IMO
GTA San Andreas K-Dust 😂 what a memories
check out: Midnight Girl in a Sunset Town by Sweethearts of the Rodeo
Y'all outta check out country superstar Gretchen Wilson version of barracuda. It's great
So much talent in the 70s. We took it for granted!
What year is this!!!???
Watch Heart do a Led Zeppelin tribute of "A Stairway To Heaven" at the Kennedy Center.
It is on the channel.
Uh-oh, big mama, I think I heard a ‘threat’ that the young one will be drivin’ around without you but, but may be at least listening to Heart! Heh
Alert all teen boys in your area!
Also, turn off her phone! Haha!
Allow no one at the house! LOL!
I’m kidding, of course………kinda. Heheh
Lol
Who says chiks can't rock? Feel free to do Joan Jett and the Black Hearts.
Isn't Ann the lead singer and Nancy the guitar player?
Yes
Nice dynamic for reaction videos. I'd rather they'd listen to the song before commenting, tho.
I LIKE BARRACUDA ON THE BBQ/FROM THE DEEP SOUTH 🦘
Someone needs to adjust Lulu's sound volume PLEASE! The static when she speaks hurts the ears, the last thing you really want in a music reaction...
Otherwise, luv you 3. And, the Wilson sisters of Heart!!!
Sorry, we have been working on sound. Hopefully, we will get it figured out soon.
I think it's cuz you 3 are trying to use 1 mic, @@KathyLuluandDonna... Poor Lulu is closest to it, so her voice gets too amplified. 😱
Hello from The Netherlands, thank you.
I remember that song, your mom must have been a live one, she stil looks great, plenty of life in that one.
Take care you bunch of weirdo's.
I mean that in a good way.
Here's a hint, learn how to adjust your mic levels.
Go research the back story for this song because we all missed it when it came out. All about sexual harassment and how women in rock were treated by the record industry.
Sub here. KUDOS to your channel. You got my viewership
Awesome, thank you!
