Thanks for putting the video together Christian, I really enjoyed it. It’s a route I wanted to do this summer but I ran out of time! You chose a great week weather wise.
I’ve got a 90s hardtail mountain bike with panniers on the back which I use to go touring. Is the route too rough for that kind of setup?
Looking forward to watching part 2 later on.

Thanks for watching Mike. I have done similar routes before in Snowdonia but never filmed it. Yes very lucky with the weather for September and helped the video for sure.
A 90s hardball will get you through although I would recommend 100mm if travel for a bit more comfort. Your panniers might get shaken around a lot on the bumpy downhill sections putting pressure on your rear rack but if you take it easy on the brakes you can get through no problem. Bike packing bags are preferable but panniers are still doable. I did most of this route on a gravel bike before. The hardball was definitely more comfortable but both are possible. I hope that helps.
Hope you enjoy part 2 and the 3rd video which is the return journey along the coast. 4 castles and lovely coast and mountain vistas. Anymore questions let me know. Cheers Christian

Thanks for the info, I think I’ll give it a go as I am then.
Good luck with the channel. All the best.

Thank you. Go for it. It is a truly epic adventure whatever bike you go on. Watch out for the weather. Much better when dry/sunny. Good luck!
