The only sexism I've seen in the trades has been leaving the women to the small bore. As far as unequal pay, I've never seen that either. As a union member, we all make the same, and everyone is generally given the job that they can perform given their physical limitations. I'm sorry to see that the folks on the west coast can't seem to be as egalitarian as the building trades in red red Kentucky. Best of luck to you freelancing, sister.
If she demonstrated 6010 and 7018 on pipe I may consider her a welder but I taught my nine year old daughter how to use a wire feed machine and less than two hours later she could weld better than the owner of the rig...guess I'm just hard to please
Sounds like a jealous guy to me. There are many welding processes Mig, Stick, Tig and Gas. And only Pipe requires stick welding so get on with your BS. I guess all the guys welding on Nascars, the space shuttle, Aluminum, Titanium and other precious metals aren't real welders either?? When your 9yo daughter becomes a master certified welder with her own business then you can be unimpressed with her failure. Until then take your negative energy elsewhere!!
