I broke out in laughter when he said "I block 2 hours a day off for writing...and sometimes I don't write anything, I just think 😂" soo good to know we're not the only ones struggling with that
It sounds like a joke but isn't when some writers say that sitting there thinking is part of the writing process!
I’ve paid for TH-cam classes and books and watched plenty of Film Booth but something tonight just clicked watching this.
Not sure why it’s taken so long
We’ve got to take the boring necessary idea and transforming into something interesting, entertaining every single time
yeah its like... his meta explaining his explanations help me better understand his explanations.
Unfortunately mostly we prioritize entertainment (feeling good) over value. Go to trick them like Ed says
That's exactly what he doesn't do.
It’s called “A carrot covered in chocolate”. I learned about it not so long ago.
I felt the same when he said "package it as what they want, and give them what they need". He said it elsewhere, and it was hammered home today. Really feeling confident after watching Ed's recent stuff.
Ed's exceptionally good at what he does - learned a lot
Yeah i’ve gone down the rabbit hole and feel like a REAL amateur
100%. I took Ed's Edutainer's course and I'm still learning. He understands YT out many levels deeper than me.
@@CreatorScienceYTwell I've subscribed to you both as a result so thanks.
Well, it's all fun and games until you want to find the video he did about a topic but can't remember the thumbnail or title that went with it and can't search for it 😂 But yes, I know I enjoy his videos and they are valuable so I watch them all as soon as I see them, definitely great at getting returning viewers!
He is, one of the top scammers a liars on TH-cam, but great at self marketing and selling hot air
Two best points from this; you need to be able to make something boring into something interesting & and that building a community of valued followers is way more important that getting heaps of views.
Right, but I'm still confused as to whether we should be aiming for high views, in order to get more leads into our businesses. He seems quite ambiguous on that point. I think aiming to get new people in by creating a video with broader appeal, if not every video then some videos, is a good way to tell the algorithm to pay more attention to you and find more of your ideal viewer. But, hey, Ed is great.
Ed is a legend. I implemented some of his ideas in one of my latest videos and the feedback I have received from my regular viewers has been super-positive.
Which video and what you implemented?
Film Booth is my favorite TH-cam training channel. I've watched most of his videos. But this is by far my favorite - he really explains what I've experienced when watching his videos. It finally sunk in. This was awesome! It's like a complete roadmap. THANKS!
YES! Anytime I randomly search for video ideas, this dude always comes up. He has such great advice!
Watching this after having done my first real video and thinking "this could have been a lot better". This interview opened a whole new world to me about storytelling. Thanks Jay for being such a good interviewer.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Guys you absolutely smashed this ep! So much value shared by Ed.
Appreciate you probing further into the nuance Jay.
Ed's a genius. I happily watched his videos WAY before I thought about starting a channel just because he's so entertaining. I was (and am still) far more interested in his editing because it's brilliant.
It's interesting how much I learned here about his process HERE after watching so many videos about the process.
Real gems in here. Feel like I just went through an intro into Ed’s main course. So good.
Ed is my favorite TH-camr rn
these interviews are packed with knowledge. great work!
Glad you like them!
Eye-opening conversation. Ed’s expertise and Jay asking the right questions gave us a ton of valuable info.
last 2 episodes are so on point. thanks for sharing Jay, completely changed my perspective
LOVE the detail. You swapped 70/20 to 45/45 as he reconsidered, even though he said 50/50, because of course you gotta film something, and dang what a long sentence, but it was so satisfying.
Didn’t know about you or Film Booth before this popped up on my feed. You did something right with the thumbnail and title because it got me to watch and I ended up following both of you. Very solid interview. Thanks!
Great interview with Ed. Everything Ed says is absolutely spot on. I discovered him a few months ago and am using his teaching to transform my flagging channel. Watch and learn from this and you won't go wrong...
I got SOOO much from this video, kept my pen & highlighters moving non-stop watching this one! So excited to utilize what I've learned here on this 1 particular "idea" that's been brewing in my head for months & needs to be made into a video for my niche / community. Thanks a ton to you both!
This was exceptional and I can't wait to start his cohort in a few days time. So much to learn!!
Absolute treasure!! Loved every minute of this!! It was invaluable to learn about so many nuances in detail. Extremely GRATEFUL, thank you Jay & Ed❤️❤️
Great interview Jay! Ed has nailed the TH-cam game, I remember him first appearing on my TH-cam Home Screen and he’s grown and evolved so much. You’re both a huge inspiration for me personally and the journey I’m about to embark on (finally stopped procrastinating 😅)
Great questions!!! You literally asked him the stuff that I was wondering the most!
And especially props on digging deep on Ed's process and the time spent!
I’ve got to come back to this video often. It was surprisingly educational. I could wrap up of years of knowledge I’ve been learning on TH-cam.
Another great interview, Jay! Ed and the Film Booth channel is one I always watch and refer people to. There have been videos that he has drawn me in until the end and I'm like "What? That's the end??!" He's a great TH-cam, storyteller and visual creator. Thanks for sharing this highly valuable conversation with us!
This was a fantastic video. I've been a fan of Ed for a while now, he delivers information in such a powerful way. You did a great job with this interview.
This video is pure gold! I learned so much, thank you!
Hey Jay, been a follower of Ed for awhile and watched this because of him. Checked out your other content. Great collaboration. I am looking forward to going and watching the rest of your content.
This is a phenomenal episode. Many thanks to you both. 🙌
Great interview! His teaching style, ideas, and concepts are so unique. I don't think my channel would be here today without Ed's knowledge. I do exactly what he aims for with his channel, I binge his content
Glad to hear that😊
Good stuff. Storytelling is a crucial aspect of creating engaging and successful videos on TH-cam. Being able to deliver a good story can help you connect with your audience on an emotional level and keep them hooked till the end.
I'm a big fan of Ed's and now I'm a fan of you. You did a great job interviewing him and pulling great tidbits out. I keep watching Ed tell me I'm boring but don't want to take the time to make my videos more fun. The time is now. New Sub.
Love this episode! It is loaded with so many awesome tips! THANK YOU!!
Thanks for this! This was super interesting. I really love your interview style and questioning. So much value!
wow this one is just jam packed with great insights from Ed; excellent interview and questions as well Jay!
I've been binging Ed's stuff for so long, I don't even remember when I first found him. And, when he said "mine are!" with such confidence (to the comment about assuming the viewers are smart), my heart soared a little. 🤣
Thank you so much for this interview! Your questions were insightful and really got me thinking, and Ed, it was great seeing your behind the scenes process - to see that you have to work through the same types of challenges really made me feel like less of a freak. ;) Sometimes I just assume that everyone else has got it all figured out, and it's encouraging to hear that I'm not alone & that even though it may never really go away, I will get better the more that I learn and practice.
so glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks Katie! Watched till the end, enjoying the vlogs with the bits of wisdom! Keep going your content inspires me :)
One of the best TH-cam guide videos of 2023
That means a lot!
Great interview Jay, questions were in point! And Ed was super informative.. 🎉
One of the very best vids on this topic ever! Thank you
Jay these videos/interviews are gold! Everything a creator REALLY wants to know. Great work!
Glad you like them!
Thanks for making these videos Jay, this is incredible helpful and inspiring!
Fantastic video. Loved the questions & responses. Very interesting and informative!
Great interview. It's amazing how many of these insights could easily apply to strategies for any social content platform. Thanks for sharing!
Incredibly helpful and clear conversation -- thanks to you both for sharing!
Really great video Jay, super awesome breakdown and it was insanely helpful to be able to understand actually looks like for a TH-camr doing this full-time
THANK YOUU for this. i always use to feel bad for telling stories especially my personal storeis in fear of making it "too much bout me" !
Putting your ego a side and staying humble haha, this is one for the best videos I have seen out there explaining how to retain peoples attention physiologically to your videos and explains how they think. This video give a lot of knowledgeable information and i thank you for sharing this. I will take this on board for my future videos and have already watched the video 20 times and took a lot of notes on each of the topics you have explained. Thanks for the video keep up the good work :)
Amazing interview! Thank you 🙏
The amount of value in this video is incredible!!!
Excellent interview! So many great take aways from this!
Thanks for breaking down Ed's thinking. I watch and enjoy his videos, but your interview made it clear to me: in my content, I merely provide lists and need to inject interest and stories. Thanks, Jay!
4th time watching this, adding notes to my script template. Ed is the goat
This video answered my big question.
Glad to hear it!
Ed helped me level up 4 sure and ge5 my 1st viral long form vid w 600k
You made that thumbnail just for me?.....Wow....I'm flattered.
Ed is very creative with some cool ideas. I’m also enjoying your interviewing of content creators.
Outstanding video! Thank you
I love Ed, he's someone that has reflected a loooot about youtube, great questions really, same as with Paddy Galloway, gret job man, keep up! 💪💪
Another amazing guest and interview thanks
Ed gives metaphors about using metaphors. Love it.
😅😂
Love the callout about being a business.
Everyone benefits from viewing themselves as a business, whether a content creator, or simply working an hourly job.
I am a grandma, I tell stories weekly to encourage n uplift people, I have received encouraging feedback. I feel though like it's the same people coming back weekly, how do I get new people to watch? Blessings ❤
I have watched many videos from various channels on these topics, and from this video I got some of the best nuggets, thank you..I have some changes to my process to make
I have just add a playlist "best for inspiration" to fit this such powerfull podcast.
Thak you guys so much for such a great content.
Very nice rhythm and I love the break ad, tv pro!
Great video Jay!! Lots of great advice in there! Awesome channel!
thanks for checking us out!
Rock solid episode. Great reframing
Amazing video. Thanks for sharing. Great info
Thank you.... This is VERY valuable information.
Thank you! I'm definitely a boring person, now I know what I can work on to cure this issue to be more engaging with my viewers.
Ed is one of my favorite educators. This interview has me sold on him for life what a genuinely nice guy. I really love his other channel creator booth too.
Also im now a Jay Clouse fan haha. This was my second video that popped up for me and I watched the whole thing. Subbed and belled looking forward to your next video! Finzar might be a fun interview I'd throw into the hat if you're taking suggestions.
Thanks for your kind words, means a lot
Yup, Ed is right, I have always binge watched atleast 3 videos back to back whenever I start watching his videos..I realized it now how effective that is..thanks bro n cheers🍻
I like your channel Jay, and I love having Film Booth in on your videos!
i wish this video was like 2 hrs lol. so helpful. great work Jay!
All of your interviews provide so much value! During these interviews where do you keep your questions (paper, on computer) as there is an ease to your conversations? How about if it was in-person (paper, teleprompter)? Thanks for the awesome content.
Good interview and content, many thanks 🎉
Wow very cool vid. Love how so honest you both are. This is 101 marketing....making something very boring sound sooo exciting !!
such a good and informative video. Thanks for this interview
Great conversation and ideas!
This was a really good video I didn’t know I needed to watch
I enjoyed this interview. Ed is awesome
Learned a ton - thanks Ed and Jay :D
I love Ed's videos, he's so good at what he does.
Great interview 👍. Your questions got to the core of Ed's approach. I needed a lift after the shock of Nate-gate.
I make tutorials so it's an interesting challenge how to incorporate stories - Ed's soup story showed me how a story hijacks the viewer's brain better even than the momentary effect of a question.
You guys are life savers!
Great interview Jay, I've been a fan of Ed's for a long time now!
He’s great! Thanks for watching, Chad!
Package the idea then make a video. Click on what they want then deliver what they need. Undue the click bait. Educational channels that are using story are genius, make it som much more engaging to stick with the video. What is your story to lean into. I have been watching film booth for a while but i love this interview, lots to takeaways. Every video should have a goal. Be honest with yourself, if its boring then fix it with as story or metaphor. I love the keys across the table story. Create a story that they want to know what happens at the end. Another great interview, i love your choice of guests, excellent audio and video quality make it easier to watch a 35 min video beginning to end. Larry
Wow! 😮 🎉 What an awesome video! Very captivating! I took alot of screenshots of the bullet points. I need to subscribe on both you and Ed Lawrence. ❤❤❤
Very much valuable episode...thanks for this..as a beginner I enjoy my channel journey hopefully after 2-3 years from now it will grow..love lot's
Thank you for fruitful content. Learn a lot 🙏
Glad you enjoyed it!
Ed is the goat hes helped tons of people and already huge youtubers an amazing vid! so crazy not a lot of people watch these your vids have so much information and people are not even realizing there giving the best ways to blow up quick but get insane views lol.
I really appreciate that! we’re working hard over here!
Love this! And love Ed's work. And Liv's too.
I'm a big fan of Film Booth. Very good content, thank you so much!
Fantastic Episode !
This was a masterclass!!
Ed is insanely good
Jay....loving this bro....new to TH-cam....in terms of growing your community...
Pure freakin gold. Ed is a beast
Man, Ed can come up with a great intro - something I would aspire to - just as a rough example. 👏
