    I think you have missed the point on why people are concerned about battery life. While its wonderful that the “average” battery ages well, a typical owner is more concerned about the life of their specific battery and the huge expense if their battery is the statistical wild-point that fails early and results in a 5 figure repair.
    To address this, Tesla could offer insurance against battery failure, perhaps as part of their standard car policies. Really, this is no different from the average home owner. Most homes do not burn down, but you buy insurance in case yours does. If the Tesla battery failure rate is extremely rare, the cost of such battery insurance should be quite low.
    I accepted delivery of a 2023 M3 last march. Now, Tesla inverters that power the motors have a good reliability history. But, mine completely failed at 62 miles on the odometer and had to towed. Covered under warranty and has been fine since. Still, its hard to forget that in 50 years of buying cars, my Tesla was the first that didn’t make it home from the delivery.
    Never say “never”.

    I drive for Uber and Lyft for a living. I drive about 50k miles per year and I live in an apartment complex where there are no plug-ins for charging while I'm at home. So, if I bought a model 3, it would get charged once or twice a day for about 4 to 6 days a week while the rest of the time, it sits at home.
    So the fact that it's best to keep it always plugged in gives me pause about buying one for rideshare driving! :/

It is driven almost 5 times a week around 100miles per day on regular days charged max to 80% every day before regular use. And it is almost taken to many long roadtrips charging at superchargers during holidays or family vacation trips.

    This is a big problem with electric cars. Old cars will almost certainly have old batteries. I wouldn't want to buy an electric car with say, 8 year old or more than 100k miles on it because the battery will die out soon on you. With ICE cars, this is never a problem!

    • @19hundoc47
      @19hundoc47 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@The_Crazy_Monkey75 Tesla batteries are rated for 1500 cycles of charging, which equals around 450,000 miles. The maintenance needed and gas required to get to 450,000 miles on a car far exceeds the cost of a new battery at 450k miles. Plus 450k miles is 33 years of use at 13,500 miles a year. No gas, no oil changes, no timing belts, no transmission services, no risk of complicated engine/transmission parts breaking, which they will after 450k miles. I like gas cars too, I have 2 V8s, but the fear behind electric cars batteries is only out of ignorance.
