I love the community for this game. I hadnt touched sage in over a year and had forgotten all my muscle memory. I got queued into holminster switch and we wiped 3 times because i was on the stupid pills. I had apologized profusely and they kept encouraging me. As long as you stay humble, i feel this community will always try to pick you back up.
to be fair holminster can be hard to heal for people who know what they are doing sometimes. i know i definitely dont give people crap when we die in there.
I leveled my new character to 60 as a Scholar, and I've had a few tanks come right out and tell me they're new, and then ask me (as the healer) if I'm okay with that. Yes, I am! We all have to start somewhere, and I'm not exactly an expert, myself. It's fine; we'll get through it. Mistakes might be made here or there, but we will win. We will finish this dungeon.
Being omni healer in this game for almost 5 years now, I picked this role because I felt too pressured to play dps scared of not making big number back when I was a sprout. Turn out I picked the most stressed role to play by the majority of MMO players' standard. xD
As a SCH main, I feel like healer is the hardest role to start out as but the easiest to play in endgame, while DPS is easy at the start but the hardest to get "good" at.
@@SeraphicSolicitorreally? I am thinking the other way around. Before endgame healing felt easy, aether could be used for heals and sacred soil, if something isn't working out you can just hardheal them. Ezlife. But once I reached endgame woah, I started to doubt myself. I remember the missplaced aether that ment I wipe a safe TEA clear group because of soil, or the time I got hit by an exa in golden bahamuth and couldn't mitigate, or the Shakies when uwu primal roulette came up the first time and I knew the only person having to do anything was me, keep them shielded or they die. It's a pressure I feel so often, the responsibility of this one single pull that made it into the last bit of a long fight, the DPS is fine, only a couple raidwides to heal through, going through over every action you take in your mind while praying it's enough.it's stressfull but so rewarding when everything works out
Y'know this is my first time commenting on FFXIV content buuut yeah! (it'll be a long one!) I started the game as Summoner because I usually love minion summoning like "Okay my pet attacks this enemy, I attack this enemy, I'm in two places at once! :D" And then once I realized that's not really how Summoner works in this game, I decided to try Red Mage and for as SUPER fun as Red Mage is, I found myself being THAT Red Mage sometimes. Y'know, the one who jumps at the opportunity to heal our healer or other players if the healer was too slow, Rez Mage and all that. I never got yelled at for it but I could feel the glares of the healers burning into my soul through my screen so I stopped...and THEN I saw a Sage in action with it's super fancy animations, super stylish abilities and generally satisfying looking playstyle and...I just...I HAD to try it! Once I was done with Heavensward and about to start Stormblood, I bought the Complete Edition, grinded my Red Mage to level 70, and unlocked Sage, and I'm completely in love! Dungeons feel so much more fresh being able to respond to things with heals or Esunas, I don't feel like I'm doing the exact same thing every time, the feeling of saving someone's life from an attack with a clutch heal or Rescue, and MY GOD getting to pop a Healer LB3 in a raid series to rez the whole party for a sudden comeback and win the raid was THE MOST SATISFYING THING EVER! I admit, I still get a bit of anxiety, and we've wiped a time or two during big pulls and I can always feel my heart skip some beats thinking to myself "Oh god no the team is gunna hate me that wipe was my fault I'm so trash-!" after seeing so many forum posts of "if a healer can't handle wall-to-walls they suck and should play DPS"...But then I look in chat and see: Tank: Oops, too big a pull! ^^' DPS: Ah, it's okay! :D Me: Round two, lets gooo! And my anxiety washes away! Recently after a rough pull with a miniboss, the doors opened to reveal the dungeon's final boss and so I asked people "Hey, can we wait for a moment for my addersgall to charge? ^^'" and the whole team was like "Yeah!" so we threw a little dance party while we waited a minute for my charges to fill up! I love this game, and while I still love my Summoner and my Red Mage, I love my Sage even more, and I'm looking forward to trying Scholar too!
"Less buttons I need to press means I'll have more time to see you make mistakes and judge you." Holy hell, I have *never* felt more seen than this line. XD
"Avy Tries to convince you to play more healers because she's a Healer main but she also likes playing DPS sometimes but the queues are too long because no one else wants to play Healers :( " Is THE perfect title! 🤣
Meanwhile my guild for some reason - everybody wants to be a healer if too many someone will tank. No one wants to DPS xD And way, way, waaaaay too meny „friendly” rescues if we’re on voice chat together 😂
when i first tried out healing, my tank did the reasonable thing of pulling everything into the bossroom, once i got used to that, healing became pretty relaxing
Healing for GNB PLD WAR: "Here's a regen/shield, I'll check in with you later, have fun sweetie!" [begins dpsing] Helaing for DRK: "WHY CAN'T YOU STAY ALIVE!?" [spamming heals and oh sh-t buttons]
Healing drk in duty roulletes that are like lvl 40 to 50 fckn sucks butt! Lmao especially when they try pulling w2w as if I can somehow keep them alive from the Russian army. I have to turn on my damn button for faster spells and go full heal mode lmao can't even squeeze in a damn Holy 😂
DRK is actually decent, not as a good as warrior but decent. It has TBN and Abyssal Drain, that paired with mit rotation you should be fine. If its possible to do w2w in trust dungeons as DRK it should be possible in duty finder as well
I started off as a Black mage because I typically love magic-users in RPG’s. I was too scared to play a healer. Once I played Sage for the first time, I got hooked on having the power to keep everyone alive and never looked back. Plus healer queues spoil me 😅
"I love power and I love feeling powerful. It strokes my biggly wiggly and forces lesser beings to bow down to my awesome might lest they taste my boots between their gums" ~ JoCat That was all the inspiration I needed to switch to healer Tried White mage, Scholar and Astrologian and by far ASTRO is my most fun healer class. Not just healing but also buffing DPS and this means the duty clears faster
Healer is my favorite to play! I was so nervous when I started a month ago, it's my first MMO. But I prefer healer out of the three roles! People are almost always very cool and helpful. But when they aren't, it's hard. I had an obnoxious tank recently in a very beginner dungeon that I cued for in daily roulette. He was pulling literally everything, then running around like mad when he got there like constantly out of my range and interupting spells, was letting monsters attack me while running (I only have one healing spell that I have to stay in place for at that level) and then he'd literally caps lock commands at me when it wasn't necessary. Like wanting me to use Ensuna in literally the last 10 seconds of the boss fight while he's at basically full health. And he was a lvl 90 astrologan so it was crazy to me that he was tanking like that. Both the DPS were total beginners too and weren't helping to kill what was attacking me. I always get tons of commendations and the occassional friendly and relevant tip (like at the very beginning I didn't need lucid dreaming ever so I forgot it existed and then you get cure 2 and it's super necessary). So that run was very different than usual and kind of upsetting. I was nervous to cue up for new MSQ dungeons for a couple days after that. If that had been my first time playing I definitely wouldn't have picked healer up again.
the way I like to think about it is this: as healer you are dealing damage to your party's missing health bars suddenly you don't have only 2 damage buttons anymore your party is your enemy really helps that healer mental, you know?
Honestly, the issue is that its not really enough incoming damage, to the point where weaving your heals inbetween dps casts is mostly more than enough. As WHM you don't even need to weave because you have the lilies. They need a bit more in terms of dps spells, there is just no denying it.
Everything is spot on. But I main a Sage so the real power is mine. The added bonus to play a shield healer is the anxiety to miss the clue for the incoming boss AoE and not shield. Which of course you'll do, often. And the spam your AoE healing to cover up *coughs*
100% accurate. I began as a Bard because I didn't think I'd be great at DPS but still wanted to support my friends. By the end of Stormblood I picked up my first healer (WHM). I mained WHM through ShB. I have serious trust issues since becoming a healer. I am always of the belief my co-healer is trash unless proven otherwise. During old Prae, my buddie Kaizme and I would Co-heal and we would absolutely be messing with each other via. "Rescue". One time, we timed it so well we literally switched places. ^-^ It was always a "Safe" way to go. Going into EW, I learned to Tank. I have even more trust issues. To the point I was asked by an FC mate the other day "Do you like tanking? I just realized I've only ever seen you tanking when we've run things together." I had to pause a moment and then said "Well, yes, I do like to Tank... but I'd really like to get back to healing or flexing my Bard some times. I just... don't trust anyone anymore lol."
Omg this. I LOVE healer classes -sage mainly- but dear lord as dragoon I have 0 trust issues because I prefer keeping my party above 80% hp. NOT REACH FUCKING 50 HP BEFORE HEALING THEM! then again, I've died a few times because the healer won't heal me
I love your sense of humor. You'll be proud of me, I finally went into a dungeon with my conjurer to get up to 30th. I only sucked once. I thought the tank queue popped fast, but damn! Instant. I'm used to queueing and having time to send my retainers on ventures.
The part about judging the co-healer is soo so true. Like whenever I queue somewhere I see how much the other co-healer pulls off and how effectively they co-ordinate with me ( Im looking at your SCH-SAGE combo). It is like the first thing I even bother with, sometimes even during the entire raid lol.
I recently fell in love with Scholar (cause it came with a lovely VFX mod I got and also, was automatically lvl 90 with my Summoner) and I love this class so god damn much. It's so fun.
Quite new to FFXIV and upon looking something up found your channel, best find ever. One of the funniest people and channels I've ever seen. Thanks for continuing to make my foray into this game so enjoyable!
White mage is popular because it's an "unga bunga" job, in other words it's easy to learn and easy to play, just do the following 3 steps: Step 1: place your face on your keyboard. Step 2: motorboat. Step 3: profit!
Scholar main here! The "Nobody wants to be a shield-healer main" is so true 😭When I talk about how much I love shielding peopel look at me like I'm some kind of sewer dwellign creature they have never seen before. I even picked up Scholar as my first job because I LOVE FAIRIES. When I foudn out how people joke about the blood lily I was confused because when I tried to pick up WHM (to level all classes) I thought the class was the most boring class ever, so I dropped it right before lvl 60, where it "gets good" apparently- I never learned the way of the blood lily 💀 Maybe I should
Lilies are awesome because you essentially have endless free healing at 60. You get a lily for every 30 seconds your engaged in combat, so they just start stacking up without you even noticing. And then you can use afflatus solace (no mana instant) to use up 1 lily for a free heal. So for the duration of combat you have those lily heals to fall back on consistently and that's not even getting into the Bloody lily stuff yet.
2:30 literally as a tank main, Sometimes i just wanna end up saying in chat. " Honestly, just dps healer. Vibe and enjoy being a dps for a little bit." the self healing is absolutely bonkers as War & Paladin but on the same hand the healers I find in dungeons just give me the middle finger and heal me anyway. So it's a win win for both parties i suppose x3
As someone who likes the big weapons and swords, playing healer is fun. An odd change for sure but it's rewarding knowing how hard of an effort to put in can be rewarding. Also yes, Healers are powerful, both power and fashion-wise
I played through ARR as a bard and only picked up scholar in the patch quests, but I'm now maining it while playing HW. People in my FC helped me learn and it's been so much fun. If only my server was more in need of healers, it's usually only lacking in tanks for the roulettes
Yup 100% same with WAR, they won't remove there self healing in 7.0 cuz if it a mistake they could have fixed them now but the fact they still haven't they intend for this to happen
No, why don't you go ahead and go into why you need your self heals. I'm quite interested to hear your reasoning behind it. Let's see if you can do better than the official forums.
Playing healer is rewarding, nothing feels better than keeping your party alive to complete dungeons and trials. Plus there’s the good feeling when you raise other people so they can continue. Oh and that one time that I was the last character standing and the boss got killed by my dot, I really felt like a hero lol. It can be scary but all in all it’s fun!!
I used to play Nocturnal Sect AST when it was a thing, focused on shields rather than regen. I was sad when they got rid of it because I loved my cards and loved my shields... SGE confuses me too much so I'm trying to get back into SCH as I got through a lot of ARR dungeons as a SCH while doing MSQ as SMN... but I miss my cards...
When i first played FFXIV, i started out as GLD -> PLD -> SAM.. i only got to lvl 60...and quit... I didnt try the game again until 2 years later...Where i made new character - Healer (CNJ -> WHM).. Playing as healer made me enjoy the game much more and i was able to finish the MSQ and reach to max level.. I still play everyday, im an AST main now ^^
in all honesty, if the dps rotation was anything but simple it would not work at all. Imagine having to keep in mind a full dps rotation while you watch health bars, aoes etc. It needs to be simple so you can swap back to healing on the fly or else.
@@silverstrider2046 Those fights were a lot less active than later expansions, so yes if the fights are slower paced, have less or easier mechanics in general(not all) then yeah it works. And no this is not a fault on those two expansions, both the players and the devs were still learning on what they could do and what they could not.
@@silverstrider2046 Healers hardly had a rotation back then too. Just the annoyance of Cleric Stance and a couple extra DoTs. SCHs had a bit more with a potential for 5 DoTs but even that is nothing like a DPS or tank job's rotation.
IMO it would add a lot of depth to WHM if your main attack was an auto-combo (i.e. you still mash 1) that steadily increased in potency. The balance being: do you commit to the deeps, or interrupt it to heal? I don't pine for the days of cleric stance either, but stormblood era SCH was way more fun and engaging with DoTs, than it's been since Shadowbringers oversimplified it.
@@nickjean3350 Don't think less active is the proper term honestly. Between Crits, no cast time tank busters and not stopping their auto attacks during mechanics, bosses weren't exactly slouches in terms of their mechanics so I still don't see a reason as to why the rotation has to remain barebones, especially given that Healers nowadays will spend upwards of 75% of their casts spamming the same boring filler DPS spell.
"Without you your party can't stay alive." Not in the Omega Protocol, you know the "Ultimate Content"" that YoshiP referred to when people asked if they could have more engaging healer gameplay other than pressing 1 button over and over again. It's been cleared without healers, so now you know that if you play healers you're essentially holding your party back.
I did it with some friends and yeah at the end one of em was screaming " WHO NEED HEALERS ?! " , that's a shame healers have now the less importance in game and you can do anything without em
This is just silly, the vast majority of the content requires healers to clear. Just because there are players who can do ultimate content without healers doesn't make healers irrelevant. High end content is the place where healers become irrelevant because SE idea of making content "harder" is tons of instant death mechanics, where if you stand in the wrong place at the wrong time you die. So high end content becomes a matter of learning to dance while dealing damage. That does make healers pointless....but the vast bulk of ff14 players don't play that content. And healers are needed for most other content. FF14 needs to reevaluate how it views healers for sure, and either give them more to do in new content, or just embrace the whole green dps nonsense and add more dps and burst dps to healers. It already makes healers dps anyway so why not lean into it.
@@JayAshkevron To be fair, casual content can also be cleared without healers. The infamous Xeno video on the mediatour has him clearing the very first Dawntrail dungeon without a healer. Even playing suboptimally, taking unavoidable damage and getting hit left and right wasn't enough for them to wipe.
Great video as always! Wish the TH-cam gods would get your stuff out there more. I don’t even play FF14 anymore and I still stay subbed cause you are funny. :)
In pretty much every MMO I've played, I've been a healer. Guild Wars, WoW, and now FFXIV. Though I did make the mistake of starting with Scholar as my first job. It took me until Alexander to realize just how much I sucked as a shield healer. Now I'm happy as a White Mage (because nature vibes). I don't always play healer, but I find myself coming back to it routinely. It feels like "home base" to me.
Are you in my head? Funnily enough, I went from tanking to dps to healing. Tanking let me learn mechanics easily, dps let me understand how to move and learn timing better, and healer let me judge other people across all fields 😂 Outside of panicking on my first Aurum vale run, healer has been almost smooth sailing. I successfully rescued a tank in the crystal tower raid once from a behemoth meteor. Literal split second timing, because I saw the meteor they were standing next to was within the behemoth's circle (meaning death to all standing behind that one for those who don't know) and I pulled them maybe about a half second before the meteor impacted the ground. They were in transition when the explosion went off - killing the 8 or so standing behind the meteor I rescued my tank from. It's probably one of my only successful uses of rescue. Sometimes - in Prae specifically - I'll pull members who are far away from the console in the iron giant boss fight closer to the exit just before the boss dies. I've thought about randomly pulling people, but I have yet to step into the dark side 😂
My journey as a healer main has been interesting over the years. I restarted the game as a conjurer because I didn't like how pugilist played way back then. Then learned tanking when I reached Heavensward by becoming a Dark Knight. I've since played a lot of other jobs, but it became my main from then on until the end of 6.0 MSQ. Then decided to try maining a healer again during this post patch cycle. Wanting to go back to my roots. I picked up Warrior and has since been the most unorthodox healer I've ever played; but its awesome being too angry to let ANYONE die.
WHM main from the very beginning here xD I heal in all games, I just need heals to function. I feel your video, in all points, especially, co-healer competition xD
I started out as a Bard on my first character, and at some point in the upper 50s I realized I just wasn't any good at that job, after all. I'd done a fine job at lower levels, but I found it was starting to get too complex for me with the new abilities it was picking up. I ended up grinding to 70 (the cap at the time) and only doing the dungeons that were absolutely necessary to advance the MSQ. I decided I'd look into a new class once I'd hit 70. In retrospect, I probably should've just looked for a new job right then. But, they had that nice experience buff on secondary jobs once you'd reached the level cap, and I think that's what made me decide to tough it out as a terrible Bard. Anyway, once I hit 70, I switched to Red Mage and I loved it. Nice, simple, intuitive and fun... and I could back up the healer in a pinch. I love DPS classes that can off-heal or off-tank. I recently returned to FF14 after a long, long break, and I couldn't really remember how to play. I decided to start a new character to help me get back into the swing of things. I started as a Scholar, and really enjoyed it! Leveling as a healer is actually fun and not very stressful in this game. And the short (usually instant) dungeon finder queues are nice!
I'm playing for almost 2 years and haven't got over my healxiety. I can tank pretty fine and dps ok but still healing over 50 is a bit of a doozy for me
i have around 9k hours on ffxiv, 80% of it is on healers, mostly WHM and there's so many things i agree with you on here. i don't want a proper dps rotation, the reason i love healer is the complete freedom to choose what ability i want to use at any time, while doing mechanics and observing party members. personally, every time i try playing dps after 3 dungeons I'm already frustrated that i gotta charge half my abilities first. plus, nothing is more satisfying than pressing a button and watching everyone's HP bar fill. good serotonin right there 👌 also my favorite thing to do is pull my friends with rescue into the moving trains in the Nier raid, if you time it right you can survive and watch them [exit, pursued by train]
The reason I am a healer/support is because in every game I play with my friends I always get stuck with support classes because to the point where I even take support when I am playing a game my friends are not interested in xD
See, here's the thing. I always enter the game as a ranged spellcaster DPS. Aspired to be a RDM main honestly during SB... Guess who became a SCH main? That's right. *THIS GUY!* That said, I got a lot of praise for playing Scholar xD Edit: Oh yeah and now I main SGE because it's just a lot more fun to use magic floaty death guns on a Hrothgar instead of a book to bap someone on the head with.
Not gonna lie, I’m a DPS (MNK) main that picked up playing tank fairly recently. I actually want to learn a healer to give some of my FC members that always heal when we’re in party a break. My only problem is that I have a fear of having my whole party’s lives in my hands so I default to tank or DPS. I do want to learn Sage because they look really cool though 😅
Just try it, tanking is stupidly easy, and you're even exempted from like 70% of the mechanics. If you're nervous, only pull a single pack at a time; you'll want to do that for levels
Ohohoho just combo the heal increases right with Sage, other than that most dungeons are ok w Eukrasian Prognosis variations alone. The tanks barely need help, and shields/combos can be put up really quickly so a misprediction won’t hurt the team in a dungeon. Just do the Sage it’ll be insane fun XD you’ll be dealing damage to utilize Kardia most of the time anyways >:3 (in a dungeon. Strictly.) Specstre has a great guide~
the power i feel when not esunaing the debuffs from an easily avoidable mechanic is magical, especially when the player in question is a veteran and they're subjected to the sprout's will
When I entered Sohm al for the very first time as a Scholar, like usual, I told them it was my first time and the tank simply responded: "Just heal me. I do big pulls". I don't know how I did it, but I managed to keep the tank and the party alive because they were simply speed running the entire dungeon and I didn't even receive a single commendation at the end of it. I never felt so insulted in my life! Most of my healing experiences are quite alright though. It's just that one moment that I really wanted to smack that tank XD
Healing is definitely more forgiving in this game than in most MMOs. You get some downtime to DPS in between heals, even if you're sort of a scrub like me. I don't know if this changes in higher-level content, but healing is fun and not too difficult or stressful while leveling. If you want comms but you don't want any pressure at all from people depending on you for heals/tanking, I think I've found another option. Just get yourself a really nice glam set. I still get lots of comms while DPSing, and I think it's mainly because my flat-chested Midlander Dancer looks mighty nice in the Summer Flame bikini/sarong ensemble I picked up from the cash shop for $5.
It is more fun, you don't have to follow a strict rotation, and there is that adrenaline rush when you save someone and also the satisfaction when you save everyone. Also, kamikaze-tanks have a special place in my heart. 😍
Having been a healer main in countless mmos for the past 25 years, I can comfortably say that for the most part (especially in lower level content), healers in FF14 are pretty much like every other healer. if you know the basics you will be just fine.
None of the healers interested me until sage came and when I got to lvl 70 with my main job at the time I got both reaper and sage jobs instantly and kept flipping back and forth on which to play at the time since they are both super fun and interesting. In most team games in every genre I tend to play "healers that can kill" since I cant let my teamates get all the fun or die and I cant do anything. So sage with floating lazer shooters and cool animations was a match made in heaven along with healer ques to make it al the more sweeter. Play sage(the only cool healer ;P )
I am not a healer main, but I do heal quite a bit. For one, I main as RDM. It's just what my role is in any group. After ressing, of course. x) For two, I have non-main healed as a holy priest in WoW for over a decade (my main there is a tank). I did therefore try to white mage in FFXIV (again, as a nonmain job), and did get to max level with it, but I just preffer to heal as sage for some funny reason... So, yeah, as my main healing job, I am a shield healer. Sort of.
When it comes to healer I discovered as far as MSQ play any class you want but dungeon runs, boss fights and raid play a healer or a Tank especially if you short of time cause the Q are almost instantly
Sage is my favorite healer class, but not playing for so long brings back my “new healer” anxiety so i end up messing up 😅. But Majority of the times its the dungeon mechanics that get while healing. One day I’ll return back to it so i can get the rest of end walker finished.
"have more time to judge you and your mistakes." Like the dragoon who ran head first into the dungeon we were in right from the get go and instead of waiting for the tank to take aggro/pulls first, he took them and died in just seconds. He didnt make THAT mistake again in the rest of the dungeon. Also, i LOVE sage and i dont plan to use any of the other healer classes anytime soon
As a dragoon main who just started leveling tank, I can attest, the DPS queue is getting disgusting lately for sure. 20 minutes waiting to kill the pope is just rough lol.
Well, I'm a main red mage (rez mage all the time XD), but I love healing, and I love all the classes of heal. Lately I queue up a lot with sage, and just have a lot of fun with it. Love sage. 😁
General party awkwardness:- when partying I've seen other healers say guys I need the toilet. Literally 3 mins later... they're back and someone gotta ask did you wash your hands.. 2 more mins later there done. Other times; it's frustrating when someone explains what to do and ppl go along with yeh sure.. but you ask them to rephrase it or act on that and they never had a clue to begin with.
I also started out as a BRD main but now I'm s SCH main, not good at it, but good enough to get my party a clear of the 1 (and only) savage raid that I've tried.
Sage is my main healer. I've played it so much that when I went back to WHM I forgot how to use my tool kit and we almost wiped as a result. Funny enough both shield healers are level capped for me.
As a Whm main I pop Divine Benison on the tank during big trash pulls, swift cast then holy spam, OGCD heal maybe a regen on a dps. I'd rather do dps than useless over healing so the tanks hp sits around slightly more than half before I start healing. Holy is OP mitigation, just wear sunglasses 😎
Me a shield healer main(sage most of the time but scholar part time) that started as WHM: WHAT this was a recruitment for the blood lily cult i thought it was for Avycattes opinion on how much more fun healers can be.
Just got into the game a few months ago. Loving it so far. (Was a bit slow at first tho, so I am glad my friend pushed me along.) Found you channel soon after and I really enjoy what you put out. Sometimes I just watch your videos so I can experience that adorable intro. It’s nice to know you are a fan of white mage as well; it is what I picked. I have to admit that keeping your party alive in raids is really fun. Also people are super nice in this game. A guy noticed me checking out his gear, we had a chat, then he game me a bunch of pets and stuff!
As a sge main I found out some times I will let the tank die if they keep playing games with other tanks. It is less mana to raise than to heal some times and that can be the difference between a wipe and not.
Being a healer in FF14 has been the most polarizing experience I've ever had. On one hand, I'm the savior god, rescuing people from certain death, healing through intense damage, single handily saving the entire run (even without lb3). Other times, I'm the babysitter. Oh you died for the millionth time, guess I'll rez. Oh, the tank released so now the TB is on the dnc and they decide TO DASH INTO THE MIDDLE OF THE GROUP AND KILL HALF OF US INCLUDING MY CO-HEALER... I need a minute.
Keep a regen on the tank, DOT up adds only while on the move, spam DPS (AOE only on groups of 3+) , heal the tank when they get to 50% HP, use Lucid Dreaming when below 7000MP
i like healing because its the only job that isnt literally the same exact thing every single time. tank and dps are just "do rotation and avoid mechanics", which becomes brain dead once youve done it enough times. with healing, what you need to be doing at any given moment is determined by your team mates, so i at least have to pay attention to the game to play healer
The reason i love to play healer, specially in new fights or dungon, is because it force me to learn the fight fast, since .. if i die the group die 😂 So yher it incurrage me to become better at mechanics faster😊
As a healer main, in regular content it is very fun but in high-end content it is a gamble on terms of your co-healer, it is a gamble because some healers dont heal and can be stressful!l but in the most case it is very fun to heal
Somewhat serious question: I'm a controller player, and while I absolutely love healing in normal content, I've never healed in savage content because of how impractical controller is for spot healing (cycling through my 8 man party list for the player I need to heal). How important is it REALLY, though, and how much of it is only in my head?
I love the community for this game. I hadnt touched sage in over a year and had forgotten all my muscle memory. I got queued into holminster switch and we wiped 3 times because i was on the stupid pills. I had apologized profusely and they kept encouraging me. As long as you stay humble, i feel this community will always try to pick you back up.
Were you healing My DRK last night?
to be fair holminster can be hard to heal for people who know what they are doing sometimes. i know i definitely dont give people crap when we die in there.
@@KityKityCraft in my defense, I was used to WAR insane self sustain.
I haven’t played in over a year and I am still good at Astro, lol.
Turn out I picked the most stressed role to play by the majority of MMO players' standard. xD
Yeah I get tank anxiety and this. But being a healer, doesn't bother me.
As a SCH main, I feel like healer is the hardest role to start out as but the easiest to play in endgame, while DPS is easy at the start but the hardest to get "good" at.
@@SeraphicSolicitor Yeah SCR is a rough transition from Arcanist. SMN is a much smoother transition
(it'll be a long one!)
I started the game as Summoner because I usually love minion summoning like "Okay my pet attacks this enemy, I attack this enemy, I'm in two places at once!
I admit, I still get a bit of anxiety, and we've wiped a time or two during big pulls and I can always feel my heart skip some beats thinking to myself "Oh god no the team is gunna hate me that wipe was my fault I'm so trash-!" after seeing so many forum posts of "if a healer can't handle wall-to-walls they suck and should play DPS"...But then I look in chat and see:
Tank: Oops, too big a pull! ^^'
DPS: Ah, it's okay! :D
Me: Round two, lets gooo!
"Less buttons I need to press means I'll have more time to see you make mistakes and judge you."
Holy hell, I have *never* felt more seen than this line. XD
That is a good line. Avy is an absolute diva by this point. But a loveable diva. Like an Elkie Brooks rather than a Mariah Carey say.
"Avy Tries to convince you to play more healers because she's a Healer main but she also likes playing DPS sometimes but the queues are too long because no one else wants to
play Healers :( "
Is THE perfect title! 🤣
The titel sounds like the story of my FF journey
ATTCYYPMHBSAHMBSALPDSBTQATLBNOEWTPH
Just slap a "In another world" on it and you have your successful Light Novel
DPS doesn't give me responsibility
Meanwhile my guild for some reason - everybody wants to be a healer if too many someone will tank. No one wants to DPS xD And way, way, waaaaay too meny „friendly” rescues if we’re on voice chat together 😂
when i first tried out healing, my tank did the reasonable thing of pulling everything into the bossroom, once i got used to that, healing became pretty relaxing
Healing for GNB PLD WAR: "Here's a regen/shield, I'll check in with you later, have fun sweetie!" [begins dpsing]
Helaing for DRK: "WHY CAN'T YOU STAY ALIVE!?" [spamming heals and oh sh-t buttons]
God I HATE healing DRK
Healing drk in duty roulletes that are like lvl 40 to 50 fckn sucks butt! Lmao especially when they try pulling w2w as if I can somehow keep them alive from the Russian army. I have to turn on my damn button for faster spells and go full heal mode lmao can't even squeeze in a damn Holy 😂
Meanwhile DRK: LET ME DIE FFS!
Those DRK must have been idiots . every good one knows to rotate the cooldowns during the whole instance...even Alphinaud can keep my ass up ^^.
It strokes my biggly wiggly and forces lesser beings to bow down to my awesome might lest they taste my boots between their gums" ~ JoCat
That was all the inspiration I needed to switch to healer
Tried White mage, Scholar and Astrologian and by far ASTRO is my most fun healer class.
Not just healing but also buffing DPS and this means the duty clears faster
I watched that exact video today! XD
If that had been my first time playing I definitely wouldn't have picked healer up again.
the way I like to think about it is this:
as healer you are dealing damage to your party's missing health bars
suddenly you don't have only 2 damage buttons anymore
your party is your enemy
really helps that healer mental, you know?
NOT REACH FUCKING 50 HP BEFORE HEALING THEM! then again, I've died a few times because the healer won't heal me
That's why you play Sage. Rescue + Icarus and you just swap place with the unsuspecting co-healer
Also we all deep down inside live for the LB3 because of the godlike experience of having everyone at your mercy :P
I recently fell in love with Scholar (cause it came with a lovely VFX mod I got and also, was automatically lvl 90 with my Summoner) and I love this class so god damn much. It's so fun.
Me, during most of ARR: Why do people like WHM more than SCH? Shields are fun!
Holy: "Heyyyyyyyy ;D"
Me: "I love you now and forever"
*laughs in doesn't have to pay attention as much cause Selene*
Quite new to FFXIV and upon looking something up found your channel, best find ever. One of the funniest people and channels I've ever seen.
Thanks for continuing to make my foray into this game so enjoyable!
That title is such a mood, I'm a WHM main too and it sucks trying to level alt jobs through duties.
This video convinced me to take the dive from tank to healer. Thanks for that! Leveled up my white mage today and enjoying her immensely.
White mage is popular because it's an "unga bunga" job, in other words it's easy to learn and easy to play, just do the following 3 steps:
Step 1: place your face on your keyboard.
@@aSinisterKiid they changed it to 20 seconds
My only high level classes are Scholar and Sage, I only exist in shields and it's by choice
I just like seeing green numbers the way the dps loves seeing red numbers.
6:20 As a sage main, THERE ARE DOZENS OF US
DOZENS
As a SCH SGE I only exist in shield healing
I love healer job because every single patch we get a Robe, and I love Robes so much.
I laughed so hard. This is the content we deserve.
"That's right. I'm your White Mage. And NOBODY. FUCKS. WITH THE WHITE MAGE."

I play healer because I love when I see my party suffering and almost die when I try to draw Spear card from my deck
Yea being a God in FFXIV is the reason i'm healer main 😌
As a PLD main, our insane self-healing abilities are necessary for reasons I can't get into here, but I assure you they're very compelling.
@@ulibarriL Because most healers are dumbasses who like to play chicken with the tank's health bar so we have to do your job for youm
All of what you said, AND when everyone but you is dead and you're able to limit break 3 to raise the entire party. Now THAT's a rush!
I love your intro so much and your content is fun and entertaining!
It worked back in ARR and HW just fine.
Between Crits, no cast time tank busters and not stopping their auto attacks during mechanics, bosses weren't exactly slouches in terms of their mechanics so I still don't see a reason as to why the rotation has to remain barebones, especially given that Healers nowadays will spend upwards of 75% of their casts spamming the same boring filler DPS spell.
started sage recently and really enjoying it. been getting a lot of helpful tips from folks. though i can't tell my fc, they'll make me main healer.
"Without you your party can't stay alive."
Not in the Omega Protocol, you know the "Ultimate Content"" that YoshiP referred to when people asked if they could have more engaging healer gameplay other than pressing 1 button over and over again.
I'm a SCH main, and I absolutely agree with everything in this video. Except pulling people off cliffs LOL.
cant help but to laugh when i saw that intro vid.. funny song and lovely hamster floating rofl xO
Gunbreaker: "Please heal me!"

insane people
Glad I got a chance to meet you today~
It was awesome!
I'm loving so much to play WHM lately and I'm RPR main 😂😊
I also experienced the BRD to WHM pipeline lol. Not even sure how it happened
Same, I started as a BRD but ended up becoming a sage main, lol.
I'm playing for almost 2 years and haven't got over my healxiety. I can tank pretty fine and dps ok but still healing over 50 is a bit of a doozy for me
i have around 9k hours on ffxiv, 80% of it is on healers, mostly WHM and there's so many things i agree with you on here. i don't want a proper dps rotation, the reason i love healer is the complete freedom to choose what ability i want to use at any time, while doing mechanics and observing party members.
personally, every time i try playing dps after 3 dungeons I'm already frustrated that i gotta charge half my abilities first.
plus, nothing is more satisfying than pressing a button and watching everyone's HP bar fill. good serotonin right there 👌
also my favorite thing to do is pull my friends with rescue into the moving trains in the Nier raid, if you time it right you can survive and watch them [exit, pursued by train]
*THIS GUY!*
That said, I got a lot of praise for playing Scholar xD
Edit: Oh yeah and now I main SGE because it's just a lot more fun to use magic floaty death guns on a Hrothgar instead of a book to bap someone on the head with.
@@billy65bob Thanks for the advice! I’ll try to learn WHM and really learn it. Then I’ll try to work my way into Sage
@@Yamidoragon Oh cool! Thanks! I’ll check out that guide since I really want to be a Sage 😁
the power i feel when not esunaing the debuffs from an easily avoidable mechanic is magical, especially when the player in question is a veteran and they're subjected to the sprout's will
When I entered Sohm al for the very first time as a Scholar, like usual, I told them it was my first time and the tank simply responded: "Just heal me.
After ressing, of course. x)
For two, I have non-main healed as a holy priest in WoW for over a decade (my main there is a tank). I did therefore try to white mage in FFXIV (again, as a nonmain job), and did get to max level with it, but I just preffer to heal as sage for some funny reason...
So, yeah, as my main healing job, I am a shield healer. Sort of.
That comment about starting as a perfectionist and going meh...I feel this. Both in-game and on my channel.
When it comes to healer I discovered as far as MSQ play any class you want but dungeon runs, boss fights and raid play a healer or a Tank especially if you short of time cause the Q are almost instantly
Nice vid and healers are great, I like running on Scholar. Though I main PLD which is kind of a healer, esp when the healer dies in the roulette :)
"We strangley don't have many shield healer mains"
Scholar main checking in! :D
Sage is my favorite healer class, but not playing for so long brings back my “new healer” anxiety so i end up messing up 😅. But Majority of the times its the dungeon mechanics that get while healing. One day I’ll return back to it so i can get the rest of end walker finished.
"have more time to judge you and your mistakes."
Like the dragoon who ran head first into the dungeon we were in right from the get go and instead of waiting for the tank to take aggro/pulls first, he took them and died in just seconds.
I've actually heard that Tanks and Supports each generally deal 20% of the team's damage, with Melee and Ranged DPS each dealing 30%
Well, I'm a main red mage (rez mage all the time XD), but I love healing, and I love all the classes of heal. Lately I queue up a lot with sage, and just have a lot of fun with it. Love sage. 😁
Unless you're a warrior. No begging required.
Ive just realized that you actually can rescue people INTO boss aoe.... im gonna use that skill more often for sure 😂
Wow, the graphics are so much nicer now.
Its different before 7.0 graphics.
Healer is my favorite role in the duty finder simply because it add some randomness in form of people with different knowledge and skill level.
Sage is my main healer. I've played it so much that when I went back to WHM I forgot how to use my tool kit and we almost wiped as a result. Funny enough both shield healers are level capped for me.
it took me a year to start healer. best decision ever. got whm to level 50 and haven’t touched it since i played ❤️✨🌌astrologian🌌✨❤️
"Rescuing friends into AoEs too often and you might find you dont have many friends anymore"
You can always play healer
Or pick warrior and forgive everything what this video said 🧍♂️
Just got into the game a few months ago.
Loving it so far. (Was a bit slow at first tho, so I am glad my friend pushed me along.)
Found you channel soon after and I really enjoy what you put out.
In that ShB dungeon where you gotta walk across this walkway, yoinking a DPS into the void in that tol frog boss lmao
AoE on 3+ only applies to WHM. The other 3 healers only need 2 enemies for it to be a plus for them.
i like healing because its the only job that isnt literally the same exact thing every single time. tank and dps are just "do rotation and avoid mechanics", which becomes brain dead once youve done it enough times. with healing, what you need to be doing at any given moment is determined by your team mates, so i at least have to pay attention to the game to play healer
BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD LILY
Written and directed by anxiety. I want that shirt.
The reason i love to play healer, specially in new fights or dungon, is because it force me to learn the fight fast, since .. if i die the group die 😂
So yher it incurrage me to become better at mechanics faster😊
I'm a Bard main but being a Sage is really fun
And not just because I'm a Miqo'te who loves lasers
As a healer main, in regular content it is very fun but in high-end content it is a gamble on terms of your co-healer, it is a gamble because some healers dont heal and can be stressful!l but in the most case it is very fun to heal
Somewhat serious question: I'm a controller player, and while I absolutely love healing in normal content, I've never healed in savage content because of how impractical controller is for spot healing (cycling through my 8 man party list for the player I need to heal). How important is it REALLY, though, and how much of it is only in my head?
