    Most hotels, whatever extra shampoos/conditioners soaps and even the toilet paper is recycled or donated to different organizations such as homeless shelters. As far as leaving the windows open, not so much a great idea especially in places like Florida. I remember cleaning a room and kissing bugs everywhere, room was shut down for 24 hrs. Arizona, all you’re doing is bringing in more dirt and dust in. So best not leave the windows open. Housekeepers will take care of fresh air when cleaning the room. Biggest recommendation is to NEVER EVER ever drink out of the glass cups. It may look clean, but if the hotel doesn’t provide a dishwasher and even if they do, housekeepers are usually not gonna take the time to bring all the glassware down to wash them, and dish soap is not always provided for the housekeepers so unfortunately they will spray glass cleaner. It will even fool the manager to think it’s clean, but it doesn’t take the germs from someone else that used it previously and a previous guest before that. Even some 5 star hotels deals with this issue.

      Chances are you don't need that $200+/night room unless there something you are particular after for, staying a unusually fancy resort/water resort, large family, etc. Your "middle of the road" $85-$150/night ones might be all you need and still have a room worth "getting away to" with the basics, possibly a pool, etc.

    As a former housekeeper, whenever I stay in any accommodation I leave the room as spotless as possible because I know how much effort it takes to clean, and how disheartening is to enter a room that has been used by rude careless customers. You can easily guess when a housekeeper has been staying in an accommodation by the way they try to make it easier for the cleaners.

    • @rickytorres9089
      @rickytorres9089 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That's nice but at the same time I am paying an upwards of $150/night, tips, any extras and so forth. I won't be a slop, be rude, etc etc etc and cleans up after myself. But I am not gonna take an extra 15 minutes to tidy up EVERYTHING. That's what tips are for. If for SOME reason I do leave a room a utter mess, well I will try my best to instead leave a larger tip to "compensate". Just like if I need a Pizza Delivery in utter bad weather, they will get a large tip to "compensate" for the weather, risks, etc.

      You don't need to give a fudging $10/$20 for every DING person you walks by in the hospitality facility!! For example Valets are entirely optional USUALLY and even when you do opt/have to use one a $5 each time is enough. As for everyone elses you can "ration" accordingly depending on the combinations of service level, what they are doing (e.g. if a bell person is just rolling a bag vs. carrying it vs. hauling an entire cart for 8 vs. unloading it for you , etc etc etc), extras they might be doing for you (e.g. discounts you might get, freebies, etc etc etc). Therefore for a usual 3-5 days stay you can easily get away with $50 or so (less if you don't use every ding services and/or such).

    These tips are obviously pre-pandemic. The hotels I’ve in this past year at dont have housekeeping services during the stay -need more towels or toilet paper , you have to ask for it

    You mentioned Pitts, are use a guide dog, we do not have to be in a special room, or on a special floor. Also we usually prefer not to be. We also cannot be charged extra, and our dogs are welcome anywhere the general public is allowed. Please do not interact with our dogs, however, we do welcome interaction with us. Thank you many people just know not to touch these dogs, but making faces at, watching, or making Kissy noises, it’s just as bad. These dogs can be distracted, and we prefer that they are not, because our safety is their main concern. Thank you we know that you see us, and watching is really OK, but steering is not.

    That's falsely accusing someone...

    I accidentally burned a bedspread when the hot iron slipped off the ironing board. When I checked out I told the front desk about it and insisted on paying for it even though the manager said no..... I estimated the cost and folded the money inside the hotel receipt.

    Be careful Re giving or leaving a tip. In most Far East places it's considered impolite to leave or give a tip. If you really would like to give it to the front desk. I learnt this when we went to Thailand and Hong Kong about 3 years ago.
