    We've definitely been trying to give woman their chance in the spot light for some time now, it seems as if they're really starting to sign up.
    We try to accommodate every level. I realize Volk vs not your average girl were a miss match, but they both really wanted to get in there despite the size difference. With more sign ups we are able to match them up more fairly. More to come, look out for Hostility, not your average girl, Volk, and cherry bomb to fight again. Thanks for the video Mike.

      The amount of times Hostility just walked NYAG down was honestly scary, she definitely picked the perfect name for herself.
      No shade to NYAG btw, I think this was truly a fight of styles, NYAG was paper but Hostility was scissors. Happens all the time in fighting.

    Hostility looked great in this fight. Technique was on point, offensively and defensively. She's got grit, a solid chin, and better cardio than you'd expect. Notyouraveragegirl looked big and powerful, but when Hostility turned that missed roundhouse into a sidekick (relatively early in the fight) Notyouraveragegirl's eyes kinda widened, like, "oh, this girl got moves." Great breakdown, Icy Mike. I'd definitely be down for more Streetbeefs reaction videos.

    "She was pulling my hair, then she kicked me in the face". Weird, it's almost like she wanted to actually hurt you. I'm not laughing at the pain, it's just I've both been there and seen it so many times - people suddenly getting that clarity that a fight is SO much more than shouting abuse at someone and venting. When the blows start landing it's like a whole new world lol.

    Hostility in the last fight definitely is showing signs of training in Muay Thai kickboxing.The sweeps (though wasn't allowed for that particular kickboxing fight) along with the timing of catching her opponent's kicks were telltale signs. It would be good to see Hostility go against one of your female fighters just to see how well she would do in a more combative kickboxing match.

  • @nightshade7240
    @nightshade7240 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +24

    I mean Hostility cutting angles and moving to the outside of that dominant hand of NYAG. The way she catches the kick and muscles NYAG back and throws those great shots. If sweeps were allowed NYAG would have gotten smoked with the way she telegraphs where the kick comes in the combinations. Hostility is all business and her posture is pretty impressive if you aren't worried about takedowns. She has definitely fought taller fighters with longer reach because her distancing on accepting those kicks is excellent everytime. No shade on NYAG, she just came up against an opponent who wasn't intimidated by the height or the strength.

    One thing I kind of liked about Street Beefs that they don't really do anymore, and is not really present in other competitions is that personal touch. I like it when people have a reason to fight that opponent, like they have a personal grudge. I think it's one of the things professional wrestling does well is tell a story. When they interview fighters before a fight about why they want to fight, I think they should just make stuff up like "I don't like his facial hair", or "I think I can beat him", or "he drives like an a-hole."

    I just had a thought when you mentioned the leadlock takeover working better on women because of gravity. Women tend to have lower centres of mass because of their hips, wombs, etc. That would mean you can get more torque from grabbing a woman by the head than by a man of equal height & weight. The radius of the torque would begin at the centre of mass.

    Mike, your observation that women’s fights tend to have a similar output in the beginning and end is genuinely one of the greatest and possibly most important observations on WMMA period. It’s a genuine selling point to watch these women go at it the way they do and have their technical aspects criticized in a way that isn’t just saying that aren’t men, but talking about their actual fighting skills and training.

    I think a lot of combat sports nowadays are trying to recreate ufc 1 with different rules. Mma is why we have streetbeefs(even with mixed rule sets), bkfc, karate combat, and various other organizations that change the rules or ring for a more interesting fight. I work at a buffalo wild wings, so there's sports on all the time. And I saw one combat sport that was technically kickboxing, but with only 3 sides of the ring instead of 4 or a cage. And not just a triangle, but an isosolese triangle, so 2 sides are longer.
    I once saw a 6 person mma fight in a rectangle, but only 2 guys fought at a time, like a tag team elimination.

    I'm surprised to hear Mike say in the beginning of UFC no one had any idea what would happen if all different styles competed against each other. This actually seems like a popular idea online- that there was no MMA in America before the UFC. UFC did not invent MMA in America. The UFC officially began in 1993. In 1991 and 1992 I competed at the World's tournaments in Florida in many MMA matches. The center stage main exhibitions of the tournament were matches with same style against same style. But the main arena was surrounded by smaller bouts taking place that were full on MMA- experimental rulesets: like even barefist, no holds barred, any style against any style, with many competitors combining multiple different training styles in our matches. Chuck Norris even came in 1992 and gave a speech there about MMA being the future of Martial Art. Just sayin'. The UFC might have made it way more famous, but MMA was going on in America in competition long before the UFC. Example: Bruce Lee created Jeet kune Do in 1967 in America as a combination of many influences like Wing Chun, Taekwondo, boxing, and Jiujitsu, plus Bruce's personal adaptations based on his own fighting experience in sport and in real combat. Its well documented that Bruce had many exhibitions where his students challenged all different other martial art styles. Here we have a hybrid style- Jeet Kune Do- competing against many other styles and even other hybrid styles. This is the definition of MMA. Lets give credit for UFC bringing MMA into mainstream culture, but MMA was well established with history in America long before the UFC.

    • @makoko6812
      @makoko6812 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@benjaminyoung9694 I'd say its less about gender and more about experience. Unexperienced "fighters" might not know how big their gas tank is and also not how quick it gets drained during fighting. Experienced fighters might have a bigger gas tank overall and also know how much they can spend to keep the pace over a longer time. Just take a look at other street beef women fights with less experienced participants and you will see its just he same as with male less experienced fighters.
      So i'd say Hostility and Not Your Average Girl are pretty much the exception, not the norm.

    Not sure if this may be why women's fights have consistent outputs in regards to pace (I myself enjoy watching female fights more too) here's smth I found: A recent study found that women are considerably less exhausted after natural, dynamic muscle exercises than men of similar age and athletic ability. Men may posses more physical strength than women, but women are far superior when it comes to muscle endurance and stamina, a new study has found.

      I always assumed that it was due to them always used to being the smaller one in their gym therefore they're made to train to have more aggression and endurance and maybe that's true too? Also I have noticed dudes that I train show more exhaustion after a few rounds of padwork but hit harder but the ladies seem to not hit as hard obviously but don't seem as exhausted as the dudes.

      @@kellykimberly9785 My guess is that this due to muscle mass and weight.
      Men have heavier bones and a good amount of extra muscle, so it takes a toll on their endurance when compared to women on the same level

    12:20 i think mike probably is good at coaching taller people because he's used to being the little guy and knows what will best slow the advances of smaller fighters. That said, he's not got first hand experience being the bigger fighter, so there is that lol.

    @ 11:15 you're talking about how women tend to keep the same pace throughout fights, whereas men are more likely to slow down after a while and you say that there are reasons for that, but it's a subject for another time. Hopefully you don't mind my impatience, but what's your view on that? I know that in extreme indurance sports, like ultra marathons, women beat men. What is your opinion about that?

      Right because obviously as women that would be what determines their fighting prowess... lol... maybe 20 or even 10 years ago this wouldn't be such an inane idea... but things are different. These women know how to fight because they trained their asses off. Nobody learns how to do what these women can do by accident.
