As A muslim who was born in a Muslim family. Even with the blessing of being introduced to Islam in a really young age my parents unfortunately couldn’t clarify the purpose of my existence through Islam as they were not scholars of religion.
But this video of Prof. Jeffery Lang truly helped me understand the beginning of understanding our existence. And this video became one of my favorite things on the internet.

@@zineblechhab3642 same for me. we always keep learning even being a born Muslim doesn't mean we already know everything, we still have to do research and learn knowledge. It's just easier for us compared to non-muslims that we don't have prejudice and have that urge and tendency to learn about the religion that we're born with.

Sister, last part of of Mr.Jeffery explanation was emotional and had tears in my eyes, although I am a born Muslim. But the way Jaffery told really had impact on the heart. May Allah bless those who are spreading the true message of the Creator. Ameen
I am a born muslim and went to islamic school, I have read the verse over and over and yet I never understood it that deep... Always amaze me hearing stories of reverts and how most of them understand Islam more than me... make me jealous sometimes
I felt the exact same way listening to Jeffrey Lang explaining the creation story. Never understood it that way. But wow, now that I have it makes everything crystal clear. Subhanallah
Different lived experiences, different questions, different forms of guidance i guess. This is a very intellectual professor who was a staunch athiest for many years who was guided by Allah. The way he reads the quran and analysis it would be very different from a born muslim. He was also most likely in contact with very learned muslims possibly professors like himself. Its good to be jealous of pple like this tho he may be closer to Allah than us ❤️

Alhamdulillah, praise be to Allah for enabling us to learn about the creation of man through Dr Lang's lecture. The way he approached the Quran with an open mind and heart really touches me. I'm a 61 year old borm Muslim and I'm not ashamed to admit that I learn a lot from his presentation. He explained it brilliantly the way a learned scholar of the Quran would present a tafseer (an Islamic interpretation) of the verses

Exactly, bcz he is a math professor, and the way mathematicians see things is just so different from us and facinating, their minds work dofferent and see things we don't see...their minds r FACINATING and the way they analyze things and life is so different and i love it...💙💙💙

I broke down into tears after his explanation of the Angels bowing down to Adam AS, and haven't been able to stop crying since. I never understood those verses in such manner until now. This was such a beautiful interpretation. May Allah guide and protect us all ❤️

The Prophet Mohammed(pbuh)said, and I paraphrase, that whoever seeks the path of knowledge then Allah s.w.t will make easy for them the path to paradise. Nafs means, The desire we have inside us. Nafs is not the soul but our desires. May Allah grant us understanding. Ameen
No, nafs is the self, human nature with both its tendency for good and evil
"By the(inner) self and He Who formed it. then inspired it its own wickedness and its own mindfulness(of God)"
91:7-8
Nafs in the quranic term means desire, ego or appetite. So it is correct that it refers to the sense of self but more specifically it refers to the sense of self that has desires or our ego or our appetite.
@@rufiredup90 ego is different from desire. If you say nafs is only the desire and the evil, then you'd be contradicting the verse I wrote above. Our human nature has both lower animal instincts and higher drives for things like truth, compassion, mercy, etc.

Jeffrey Lang only discussed from the translation of those verses, that 1 famous page.. But when one understands Quranic Arabic, that one page, wow.. there's a LOT more to it, A LOT MORE.. Dig in to the root word of "khalifah", "haaula-i", " 'azzala", and you'll find GEMS... and even there's a lot more to that page.. just amazing.

I'm so glad TH-cam suggested to me prof. Lang's videos about 2 months back. Allah guided me to click on 1 video of his and after that i watched so many more of his videos! So glad that I'm not even bored to watch more than 1 hour long videos, but instead i want to listen to him carefully. I found he is very intellectual and can interpret the Quran so well, more than a born muslim like me can do. May Allah bless him and hope prof. Lang is doing well ❤

I did not hear this perspective from any other of the Islamic scholars. This gave me a new insight and understanding of Islam, Allah, and why we are here on earth or this life.

Seeing Mr Lang speak reminds me of a verse in Quran that I didn't remember exactly as it is but in short Allah says "this book/scripture is for those who wants to think" those who looks at the miracle all around him and directly reminds him of the power and miracles of Allah. Every human being is gifted by the Almighty Creator with a tool to detect wrong and right accurately. When we tell lies then the "Heart" really knows what we say is a lie. When we steal or rob, the "Heart" really knows that we are making a mistake. But unfortunately many people ignore and do not want to listen to the voice of their "heart".
