Jacob had two wives. From the first wife, if I'm not mistaken, there were 7 children who were called Bani Israel, while from the second wife, Joseph and Benjamin were born. Jacob loved Joseph more than his half-brothers, which made his brothers plan evil things against Joseph and this is a very long story until Joseph became a slave and was picked up by officials in Egypt.

It will, however, be worthwhile to have a glimpse of those events. During the first seven years of his reign, there was abundance of food as he had predicted while interpreting the dream of the king. Accordingly he adopted all the measures he had put before the king concerning the years of plenty. Then the seven years of scarcity began and famine reigned not only over Egypt but all over the adjoining countries. Accordingly, Syria, Palestine, Trans Jordan and the Northern part of Arabia began to suffer from the scarcity of food, but there was plenty of it in Egypt in spite of famine because of the wise steps Prophet Joseph had taken as a safeguard. That was why his brothers, like other neighboring people, were forced by circumstances to go to Egypt and present themselves before him. It appears that Prophet Joseph had so arranged things that no foreigner was allowed to buy food without a special permit from him. Therefore when the brothers reached Egypt, they might have had to present themselves before him for obtaining the special permit for buying the fixed quantity allowed under the famine regulations. 51. It is no wonder that his brothers could not recognize Prophet Joseph, for, when they cast him into the well, he was merely a lad of seventeen and at the time of their meeting, he was a grown up man of thirty eight years or so. Naturally, he must have changed in form during this long period. Besides, they could never have imagined that the brother whom they had cast into the well had become the ruler of Egypt. (12:59) And when he had prepared for them their provisions, Joseph said: "Bring to me your other brother from your father. Do you not see that I give full measure and am most hospitable? (12:60) If you do not bring him to me, you shall have no corn from me; and do not even attempt to come close to me."52 52. As the Quran has omitted the details, someone might be at a loss to know as to how he brought Benjamin into the conversation with his brothers, and why he insisted on them to bring him with them, when he intended to keep his own identity secret from them. For, obviously these things might have led to the revelation of that secret. But a little thinking will show that he could have very easily and naturally led the conversation up to Benjamin without arousing their curiosity. As there were strict restrictions on the purchase of food, everyone was permitted to buy only a fixed quantity of it. Most probably the ten brothers had applied for food for their father and the eleventh brother as well. At this Prophet Joseph might have asked the reason why their father and brother had not personally come for it. Then he might have accepted the excuse for their father that he was old and blind but he would have expressed his doubts about their excuse for their brother that he was their step brother and the father would not send him with them and so forth. Then he might have declared: Well, this time we give you as much food as you have asked for, but the next time you come here you should bring your step brother with you; otherwise you will not get any food at all because of this false statement of yours. Along with this threat, he tried to win them over by reminding them of his liberal and generous treatment with them, because he yearned for the sight of his younger brother, and was anxious to know how his family had fared during his absence. The above is a simple and natural explanation of the matter. Thus this part of the story as given in the Bible (Gen. chapters 42 and 43) appears to be far fetched, exaggerated, unreal and, therefore, unreliable. (12:61) They said: "We will surely try to prevail over our father to send him. Be sure we shall do so." (12:62) And Joseph said to his servants: "Put surreptitiously in their packs the goods they had given in exchange for corn." Joseph did so expecting that they would find it when they returned home. Feeling grateful for this generosity, they might be inclined to return to him. (12:63) When they returned to their father they said: "Father! We have been denied further supply of corn. So send with us our brother that we may bring the supplies. We shall be responsible for his protection." (12:64) The father said: "Shall I trust you with regard to him as I had trusted you earlier with regard to his brother? Allah is the Best Protector and is the Most Merciful." (12:65) And when they opened their things they found that their goods had been given back to them. Thereupon they cried: "Father! What else would we desire? Look, even our goods have been given back to us, so we shall go now and bring supplies for our family, we shall protect our brother, and bring another camel-load of corn. That additional supply will be easily secured." (12:66) Their father said: "I shall never send him with you until you give me a solemn promise in the name of Allah that you will bring him back to me, unless you yourselves are surrounded." Then after they had given him their solemn promise, he said. "Allah watches over what we have said."

Jacobs other name was Isreal and he had 12 children of which Joseph and Benjamin shared the same mum so the other 19 children were his half a brothers and they plotted to get Joseph know as Yusuph A.s in Islam out of the way by throwing him in the well.
The term "Yahudim" was only used as a tribal designation during the time of Moses. Meaning "the peoples from Judah's tribe", and as such, Moses would've never called himself a Jew. He wasn't a Jew. He was a Levite. Later on, when the tribe of Judah became more dominant and successful, the term "Yahudim" was applied to the peoples of all the tribes. They were all the Children of Israel, i.e. the descendants of Abraham's grandson, who was named Jacob, and received the additional name Israel. It's worth noting that the twelve sons of Jacob weren't all from the same mother. Some were half-brothers to eachother; so Jacob had several wives. Perhaps it's also worth suggesting that not all of the Israelites tagged along when Moses took them out of Egypt. It's very possible that others remained behind, and eventually scattered towards the West; living amonsgt the Berber tribes in North Africa. But that requires further analyses. Moreover, when Moses left with a portion of his people; they weren't nearly as numerous as the Jews and Christians like to claim. It was a relatively small group. Among them were Jews (i.e. Israelites from the tribe of Judah), but they weren't all called that, at that point in time. Joshua; Moses' successor, wasn't Jewish either, nor a Levite. He was of the tribe of Ephraim. So it's important to understand how the nomenclature works. Nowadays, we call them all "Jews", but back then, the term only designated the Israelites from that specific tribe, from among the twelve Israelite tribes.
Lineage goes Abraham > Ishmael and Isaac. Isaac > Jacob (also called Israel) > 12 sons (Children of Israel). 10 had the same mom, the 2 youngest (Joseph and Benyamin) had a different mom. The 10 conspired against Joseph and his brother. This is where you have the surah of Yusuf in the Quran which explains that his brothers put him in a well and abandon him, he ends up in Egypt being sold into slavery. Makes his way up the rankings and eventually learns about how his brothers betrayed him. At the end, the family makes up and Joseph invites them to Egypt, and that's how the Children of Israel end up in Egypt. Some time passes in which the Pharoah of Egypt at the time starts enslaving the Israelites, and then you have Moses who saves them and they start making their way back to the Promised Land.
Important to know that Quran says that among the children of Israel are very good people and that most prophets came from them. But it also say that most of them are not good

When he grew up, he became the minister of Egypt and met his father, the Prophet Jacob, again after almost 20 years of loss, and his whole story mentioned In the Qur’an, this is what Abdullah Al-Sharif meant when he said the plot of their half-brother Joseph.

So Jacob fathered 12 sons, 2 of whom are Benjamin and Joseph who were from a separate mother as opposed to the other 10 whom all came from the same mother. One day the 10 siblings felt jealous of Joseph and hatched a plot to get rid of him, which ultimately ended up with him in Egypt. Jacob had 2 wives. 10 of his sons were from his first wife and his last 2 sons Joseph and Benjamin were from his second wife. Joseph was Jacob's favorite because Jacob saw that he was chosen to be a prophet, so he paid special attention to him. Joseph's half brothers from Jacob's first wife were jealous and they betrayed him and their father by throwing him in the well. You can find the entire story in the Holy Quran under surah Yousuf.

Jacob had two wives. From the first wife, if I'm not mistaken, there were 7 children who were called Bani Israel, while from the second wife, Joseph and Benjamin were born. Jacob loved Joseph more than his half-brothers, which made his brothers plan evil things against Joseph and this is a very long story until Joseph became a slave and was picked up by officials in Egypt.

Joseph the prophet and his little brother (alihi Salam) were also Jacob's (Alihi salam) sons, but from another mother than the majority of Jacob's (alihi Salam) other sons. i.e their half brother.
You should study about Joseph (yousaf) he was the son of jacob and had many half brothers who were jealous of him sold them to merchants and he was sold numerous times and reached egypt. Joseph and Benjamin are the sons of Rahel (second wife of Jacob).
While the rest of the brothers (Levi, Yehuda, etc.) are the sons of Lahia (first wife of Jacob).

Joseph (yousef in hebrew and arabic) had 11 half brothers who were jealous of him and sold him to some merchants going to egypt, because the satan made them jealous of his beauty and love from father. while Benjamin (bunyamin) was his only brother from the same mother. he was a toddler and was breastfed by a maidservent because Benjamins and josephs mother Rachel died giving birth to benjamin. so jacob bought a maid servent to breast feed Benjamin, that maid of course had her own son (lactation of milk only happens when a child is born) he was BASHIR. the maid sometimes fed her own son Bashir more than benjamin. and benjamin cried alot. so jacob sold Bashir to some merchants so benjamin can get more milk. That was when the maid cursed Jacob that God may also take away his most beloved child. That is why alll this happened to Joseph son of jacob. and when joseph became the vezier of eqypt (by Allahs will) Bashir was his assisstant. And after many years when jacob met joseph, Bashir had met his long lost mother. and then Jacob apologized to her and Allah for his sins, that now he knows the loss of a beloved son could make you BLIND. and his brother also apologized to him . FYI Jacon had total 12 sons (children of Israel)

(12:58) And Joseph's brothers came to Egypt and presented themselves before him.50 He recognized them, but they did not know him.51
50. The events of several years after his coming into power have been left out for the sake of brevity, and the story has been resumed from the time when the brothers of Prophet Joseph came to Egypt, and paved the way for the eventual settlement of the Israelites in Egypt. It will, however, be worthwhile to have a glimpse of those events. During the first seven years of his reign, there was abundance of food as he had predicted while interpreting the dream of the king. Accordingly he adopted all the measures he had put before the king concerning the years of plenty.
Then the seven years of scarcity began and famine reigned not only over Egypt but all over the adjoining countries. Accordingly, Syria, Palestine, Trans Jordan and the Northern part of Arabia began to suffer from the scarcity of food, but there was plenty of it in Egypt in spite of famine because of the wise steps Prophet Joseph had taken as a safeguard. That was why his brothers, like other neighboring people, were forced by circumstances to go to Egypt and present themselves before him.
It appears that Prophet Joseph had so arranged things that no foreigner was allowed to buy food without a special permit from him. Therefore when the brothers reached Egypt, they might have had to present themselves before him for obtaining the special permit for buying the fixed quantity allowed under the famine regulations.
51. It is no wonder that his brothers could not recognize Prophet Joseph, for, when they cast him into the well, he was merely a lad of seventeen and at the time of their meeting, he was a grown up man of thirty eight years or so. Naturally, he must have changed in form during this long period. Besides, they could never have imagined that the brother whom they had cast into the well had become the ruler of Egypt.
(12:59) And when he had prepared for them their provisions, Joseph said: "Bring to me your other brother from your father. Do you not see that I give full measure and am most hospitable?
(12:60) If you do not bring him to me, you shall have no corn from me; and do not even attempt to come close to me."52
52. As the Quran has omitted the details, someone might be at a loss to know as to how he brought Benjamin into the conversation with his brothers, and why he insisted on them to bring him with them, when he intended to keep his own identity secret from them. For, obviously these things might have led to the revelation of that secret. But a little thinking will show that he could have very easily and naturally led the conversation up to Benjamin without arousing their curiosity.
As there were strict restrictions on the purchase of food, everyone was permitted to buy only a fixed quantity of it. Most probably the ten brothers had applied for food for their father and the eleventh brother as well. At this Prophet Joseph might have asked the reason why their father and brother had not personally come for it. Then he might have accepted the excuse for their father that he was old and blind but he would have expressed his doubts about their excuse for their brother that he was their step brother and the father would not send him with them and so forth.
Then he might have declared: Well, this time we give you as much food as you have asked for, but the next time you come here you should bring your step brother with you; otherwise you will not get any food at all because of this false statement of yours. Along with this threat, he tried to win them over by reminding them of his liberal and generous treatment with them, because he yearned for the sight of his younger brother, and was anxious to know how his family had fared during his absence.
The above is a simple and natural explanation of the matter. Thus this part of the story as given in the Bible (Gen. chapters 42 and 43) appears to be far fetched, exaggerated, unreal and, therefore, unreliable.
(12:61) They said: "We will surely try to prevail over our father to send him. Be sure we shall do so."
(12:62) And Joseph said to his servants: "Put surreptitiously in their packs the goods they had given in exchange for corn." Joseph did so expecting that they would find it when they returned home. Feeling grateful for this generosity, they might be inclined to return to him.
(12:63) When they returned to their father they said: "Father! We have been denied further supply of corn. So send with us our brother that we may bring the supplies. We shall be responsible for his protection."
(12:64) The father said: "Shall I trust you with regard to him as I had trusted you earlier with regard to his brother? Allah is the Best Protector and is the Most Merciful."
(12:65) And when they opened their things they found that their goods had been given back to them. Thereupon they cried: "Father! What else would we desire? Look, even our goods have been given back to us, so we shall go now and bring supplies for our family, we shall protect our brother, and bring another camel-load of corn. That additional supply will be easily secured."
(12:66) Their father said: "I shall never send him with you until you give me a solemn promise in the name of Allah that you will bring him back to me, unless you yourselves are surrounded." Then after they had given him their solemn promise, he said. "Allah watches over what we have said."

Jacobs other name was Isreal and he had 12 children of which Joseph and Benjamin shared the same mum so the other 19 children were his half a brothers and they plotted to get Joseph know as Yusuph A.s in Islam out of the way by throwing him in the well.
The term "Yahudim" was only used as a tribal designation during the time of Moses. Meaning "the peoples from Judah's tribe", and as such, Moses would've never called himself a Jew. He wasn't a Jew. He was a Levite. Later on, when the tribe of Judah became more dominant and successful, the term "Yahudim" was applied to the peoples of all the tribes. They were all the Children of Israel, i.e. the descendants of Abraham's grandson, who was named Jacob, and received the additional name Israel. It's worth noting that the twelve sons of Jacob weren't all from the same mother. Some were half-brothers to eachother; so Jacob had several wives. Perhaps it's also worth suggesting that not all of the Israelites tagged along when Moses took them out of Egypt. It's very possible that others remained behind, and eventually scattered towards the West; living amonsgt the Berber tribes in North Africa. But that requires further analyses. Moreover, when Moses left with a portion of his people; they weren't nearly as numerous as the Jews and Christians like to claim. It was a relatively small group. Among them were Jews (i.e. Israelites from the tribe of Judah), but they weren't all called that, at that point in time. Joshua; Moses' successor, wasn't Jewish either, nor a Levite. He was of the tribe of Ephraim. So it's important to understand how the nomenclature works. Nowadays, we call them all "Jews", but back then, the term only designated the Israelites from that specific tribe, from among the twelve Israelite tribes.
Lineage goes Abraham > Ishmael and Isaac. Isaac > Jacob (also called Israel) > 12 sons (Children of Israel). 10 had the same mom, the 2 youngest (Joseph and Benyamin) had a different mom. The 10 conspired against Joseph and his brother. This is where you have the surah of Yusuf in the Quran which explains that his brothers put him in a well and abandon him, he ends up in Egypt being sold into slavery. Makes his way up the rankings and eventually learns about how his brothers betrayed him. At the end, the family makes up and Joseph invites them to Egypt, and that's how the Children of Israel end up in Egypt. Some time passes in which the Pharoah of Egypt at the time starts enslaving the Israelites, and then you have Moses who saves them and they start making their way back to the Promised Land.
Important to know that Quran says that among the children of Israel are very good people and that most prophets came from them. But it also say that most of them are not good

Yaaqub or Jacob is called Israil, Jacob has twelve sons that make 12 tribes of Israel. One of Jacob's son is Joseph/Yusuf. The one who make the evil plan is Joseph's siblings except Bunyamin.

When he grew up, he became the minister of Egypt and met his father, the Prophet Jacob, again after almost 20 years of loss, and his whole story mentioned In the Qur’an, this is what Abdullah Al-Sharif meant when he said the plot of their half-brother Joseph.
I don't know if you already found the answer in the video, but just in case thought I'd give a quick one. So Jacob fathered 12 sons, 2 of whom are Benjamin and Joseph who were from a separate mother as opposed to the other 10 whom all came from the same mother. One day the 10 siblings felt jealous of Joseph and hatched a plot to get rid of him, which ultimately ended up with him in Egypt.
