I did not expect a rivet removal video to be so detailed. Thanks for showing the variety of ways that things can go wrong. I thought it was me but apparently these are common errors.

I subscribe to the extreme force philosophy. I Use drills, hammers, chisels, TnT or tanerite. It usually results in a 100% loss of materials but it gets the rivets out.

I use a circlip. If it has the power to fly to space from a simple flick. why not take the rivet with it?

I usually just drill them out. Regular drill bits work fine for aluminum rivets but I use cobalt ones for steel or stainless rivets.

I do to. It works well in most cases.

Perfect. I just got some Cobalt drill bits to remove some steel rivets . . .

Flush-cutting snips or a chisel sound like the best ways of getting rid of the rivets in a PC case, for example if you want to alter the drive bay to stuff in a 3-fan GPU. No need to remove everything to avoid metallic dust, as opposed to rotary tools.

Indeed, I was surprised to see how well they work.

Looks like most of the rivets you are removing are aluminum. I have to deal with (looks like hardened) steel rivets!!!!!

@@j.b.9581 Yikes, abrasives are probably the best choice in your case.

@@Yonatan24 Thank you for the tip, you are a champ for answering!! To let you know my project, I am removing the window regulator from the left-hand front door of an '04 Volvo XC70. There are four rivets that hold on the regulator, and they are a BEAST to remove. Here is the video I am following, starting at the place where this guy starts to remove the rivets: th-cam.com/video/SZUiwiIwlNk/w-d-xo.html Even he says that those rivets are 'a lot tougher' than he expected!!
