Hey, fam! Thanks for watching! If you want to skip around to the tutorial, there are time stamps in the description. Let me know what you think and if you have any skills you want me to cover!
Wow. So cool. How big were those rings you used and what measurements did you go with in the end as you said you changed the original ones? Can't wait to try it out
I am a new viewer and I think this is the oldest video of yours I've seen yet. To the people who say you need to tone yourself down, I say PPPBBBBTTTTHHHHH!!!!!😝😝 I honestly miss how excited you've become and this more subdued version is weirding me out. Lol, keep being awesome and being excited!!!!!
I started watching leather craft videos to appease my insomnia but i love the simple yet effective way you explain the process without dragging it out to the point i feel time was wasted. Kudos and i look forward to watching you... though that sounds kind of weird...lol thanks.
I really dig how the spaulder is minimalistic when it comes to the amount of effort and detail it requires but looks really good nonetheless. Thanks for sharing!
I’ve been looking into leather work for awhile and after stumbling onto your channel, this was the video that finally did it for me and pushed me Into making my own leather products. 3 months in and I’m happy with the things I’ve made, thank you for the time you take to make these videos! 👍🏼
I've been crafting items for Larp and cosplay for years now and I only found this channel now. And hey not only do I see things I do but some things.. I really should start doing.
When slicking the edges, one thing I've really come to like is put the slicker in a drill, and let the drill spin it while I move the leathers edge back and forth. It works a lot faster and it's a lot easier to control (in my humble and unsolicited opinion, anyway). Awesome video as always!
Just found the channel and I can’t wait to see more. I would love it if you continued the basic leather working videos, especially around leather armor.
Hey thanks man, I'm making some spaulders in the near future and I think if I can adapt my pattern to incorporate the way you connected your pieces I think it will really help maneuverability.
This is an older video but this really helped me plan out how I want to attach the individual pieces of some foam spaulders I'm making! Thanks for putting it together, the information is useful beyond just leatherworking! :]
Cl3ver is the only person in this green earth who's got peppier and more excited in the last three years. This video is useful and all but he is *so* awkward and serious.
This was ROUGH compared to more "recent" stuff. I'd love to see you do something like this now, with all of the knowledge you have gained since then. Doesn't have to be this specifically. Just revisit some of your previous work! Love, Love, Love.
Thank you for watching! Running this channel has been a skill in itself and its great to see just how far we've come! We hope to make even better and better content for you all.
@@SkillTree I realize that my comment may have come across as rude, and if so I'm very sorry! That wasn't my intent. Just meant to make an observation. I love the channel and I'm excited to see it grow even more!
Thanks for watching! For this build I used 8oz veg tanned leather for the spaulders and a 4oz (I think) For the buckeled straps. The straps were pre cut at tandy so I am not positive. The inner straps that hold it all together were 2oz pieces.
I want to make this out of pleather! I have a stockpile of it and don't want to purchase additional material (other then quick rivets I guess) I'm excited to try.
Hey buddy. I’ve been trying to figure out the best way to construct my spaulders and your strap idea for holding the plates together is ingenious. Well played. Thanks for the video.
Awsome video man I'm actually in the middle of making a spaulder myself wish i would of seen your strap idea to hold it all together before I punched all the holes for the rivits, you could make a chest peace to match keep up the awsome videos man
Thanks for watching! You should show off your project when done. I want to see how you go about it. The rivit ones look good too. Let me know how it moves. I DO want to make fairly full armor when all is said and done, I think.
Hey man! My next video is leather working as well, but seeing this video now, makes me wanna go back and fix so many little things. You really taught me a bit today! Looking forward to the next one! :)
Ooooh! I know you like to keep projects under lock and key until your ready, so I won't ask, but I am excited to see what you make! I am sure it's great, bro. You always do good work!
@@SkillTree Cheers I appreciate your support man! Likewise, I've really become accustomed to watching your videos. Among so many makers on TH-cam, you're a rising star man :D keep at it.
I love the design idea for the strap connection! However, I have a technical question; do you (or anybody) know how well it would work to use antique on a water-based dye? Also, how do you decide with color antique to use?
I don't think the water based dye will make too much of a difference. If you don't want a lot of color change and just want the detail to darken, hit your work with a sealer first, like Roslin. That should protect it. As for the color of antique, you can usually find some in the same family as the dye you used (tan, browns, mahogany, etc..) if you want a more subtle effect, match the shade closely. The detail will still darken but in a more natural "aged" way. If you want it to be super stark contrast, go with a lighter shade. I usually have a piece of scrap I tool and dye along with the main pieces so I can try different colors out and see what I like. Good luck!
Looks awesome! Your giving me a lot of great ideas! I'm making vambraces next! Combination of your ideas, and prince armoury channel. If you haven't seen his leather armor stuff, you should! Great stuff!
Hello, I love your videos. I start in the embossing on leather and I would like to make a viking armor to participate in medieval festivals. I'm looking for models on paper (pattern) for shoulder protection, armor, handle, etc. Or if you have some, would you like to send me a PDF file by mail? thank you
Welcome to the tree and thank you for watching. So, I usually just measure myself amd make things to fit. That being said, you aren't the first to ask for a pattern. I will spend a little time making one today and post a shared document. Are you on discord? I can post the link there if you like. Otherwise, PM me where you want it sent. I 😁
My brother I like your working ideas hear and i am greatly interested in makeing a viking costume for this year's Halloween so I have some questions I will like to use card board since it's cheap and readily available then on how to put some type of shiny finish on it yeah I know I have trouble remembering things from kindergarten but it's gonna be a masters peace of art if and when I get it going and done I will like your in put on this ideas Thank you in advance PS GREAT JOB ON YOUR VIDEO Very informative
I love the video...funny and easy to follow! I'm about to start making a full set of leather armor and I'm going to use your designs...with a few modifications of my own ha ha! I'll absolutely have some suggestive requests for future videos! Btw...I am now subscribed! Here's the edit...I shared this with a dozen of my friends, we do reenactments!
Hey, Gremlin! I just subscribed to dark horse. Thanks for the recommendation! Some great stuff there. I DID see the print machine! Pretty cool project to have in the pipeline. Let me know when your shirt comes in BTW.
I love that one! I used one of his videos for the limited research I was able to get done. His work is stunning. I toyed with getting a pattern from him but I really don't want to make a video off of other people's stuff. Feels like stealing, lol. That being said, I may get one for my own private collection 😁

This Cl3ver fit is baller. Simple bracers, spaulders, and a sleeveless shirt. Add the war crime bag and you’ll be set for a larp costume

Where do you buy leather and what kind?
I've been crafting items for Larp and cosplay for years now and I only found this channel now. And hey not only do I see things I do but some things.. I really should start doing.
just a note for newbies.. you need to get 4mm VEG TANNED leather.. crome is cheaper but doesn't wetform

Do you have a list with the materials and tools needed for this armor ?

Great job they are beautiful
Alright, this is a great video. This is a great approach.

What ounce leather did you use?
I'll never be able to un-see that misstrapping issue you had connecting them together. Other than that, great build!!
Nice one pal

You can! Very flexible😁
Awesoooome i don't need my character to remove from her design then
@@mariacillan9668 glad I can help clear that up! May your initiative rolls always be high 😁
This video was super cool. It gave me a ton of ideas on top of teaching me how to make a super sick looking epaulet.
3 years laer and now our guy is sporting the salt and pepper look.
Does anyone know how thick the hide should be?
Would you put these on before or after your cuirass?
To further increase the leather crafting skill I have an idea for you! A leathet Viking styled helmet!
Consider it added! By "Viking Style" do you mean historically accurate or the kind with horns? Both very cool!
Historical
Could you make ninja style tabi boots out of leather
Is there a written tutorial of this?
Hey do you have printable templates for this? Id love to try and make this
I can make some and post them. I will let you know when their up.
@@SkillTree where can I find them?
How much leather was needed for this?
Do you sell a pattern?
