Today was Florida's Lobster season opener. I decided it was a good day for pizza so headed out to pick up a single Italian Lobster. Catch and Cook Lobster Pizza.
    INGREDIENTS
    1 teaspoon active dry yeast
    1 teaspoon sugar
2/3 cup warm water (warm/hot tap water)
    2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
    1 teaspoon salt
    olive oil for the bowl
Sprinkle the yeast over the water. Let stand 1 minute, or until the yeast is creamy. Stir until the yeast dissolves.
In a large bowl, combine the 2 cups flour and the salt. Add the yeast mixture and stir until a soft dough forms. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead, adding more flour if necessary, until smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes.
Lightly coat a large bowl with oil. Place the dough in the bowl, turning it to oil the top. Cover with plastic wrap. Place in a warm, draft-free place and let rise until doubled in bulk, about 1 1/2 hours.
Flatten the dough with your fist. Cut the dough into 2 pieces and shape the pieces into balls. Flatten the dough slightly. Dust the tops with flour. Place the balls of dough on a floured surface and cover each with plastic wrap, allowing room for the dough to expand. Let rise 60 minutes, or until doubled.

Looks a lot like molting from those lobsters, although it did make for some surprisingly somber underwater footage. Great video!

MageMaroon that is what I thought too. During mini season we caught several that were soft shell. We also saw a lot of shells that were shed.

Some of this whole lobster shells were from molting as they grow. Those juveniles outgrow a shell fast and need to shed it off to creat a new one ☝️

It's not that anyone is taking those lobsters it may be couple by the nurse sharks but half of the time the lobsters are just changing shells they are like snakes they she'd their skin and grow a new one that's why some lobsters are soft and some are hard the ones that half a soft she'll they have recently shed'ed their previous shell.

Come on Steve as long as u have been in the Keys u should know that all those "dead" lobsters r just the old shells from when they molt. That is how they grow by molting out of the old body and shedding it😎

  • @ColdieHU
    @ColdieHU 6 ปีที่แล้ว

Wouldn't be so sure if those are the remainings of dead lobsters. To me it looks more like shedded shells or moults. There are alot of juvenile lobsters and they are still growing. They favor that place because they have alot of hiding spots they can use, while their shell hardens after shedding.

  • @hemipower63
