    This is an amazing design, I'm sure a lot of people would love to make one. Could you please consider uploading it to some kind of 3d file hub. If you are worried people will commercialize it and profit from your design, just license it with a non-commercial license!

    • @SubwayRatt
      @SubwayRatt 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +3DprintedLife so what exactly can you do with this? because it looks kinda expensive not to mention complicated to make. but it does remind me of the long forgotten promise of the personal jet pack. oooo that would be nice.

    • @3DprintedLife
      @3DprintedLife 9 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      SubwayRatt Nothing functional, I'm an engineer so I just get geeked out by things like this and I would love to build one of my own!

    • @SubwayRatt
      @SubwayRatt 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nothing functional? you can attach it to a glider or something.
      depending on the cost you could make more..fuck it looks like a chair attached to it would be enough lol im sure there are better ideas out there.

    • @3DprintedLife
      @3DprintedLife 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      SubwayRatt Well its not that simple, this design is likely very heavy. I'm sure it produces decent thrust, but a much smaller EDF from a manufacturer could produce more. Plus, thrust reversal on rc EDF's are not too functional as you'd be better off weight wise adding larger wheels and brakes. I just like it so much because the mechanism is fascinating, but I wouldn't put this on an actual rc plane.

    I know you've released the file for the main fan, so thanks for that. But this is pretty much exactly what I've been looking for to print on a 3D printer. I've seen many other designs, but I cam across yours just today, and I fell in love with the complexity and mechanics of it. So, if you're willing (at your description, really), a full file and perhaps a how-to guide would be extraordinarily appreciated. This is the perfect basic design for a 3D printed turbine engine (well, motor). Thanks in advance, and I really hope you can upload a full file.

    I think is very cool. What's the maximum speed (rpm)?

    • @ColinRichardson
      @ColinRichardson 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Seems like it is a brushless motor, so pretty damn fast. It would be limited by how many volts you throw into it and how much current the ESC/Wires can handle.. Though there will be a point where the motor would over heat and I am guessing it's not getting a super amount of air flow over the motor itself to keep it cool as it seems it is all enclosed. The price you pay to make it look like the real thing.

    1:08 🤯🤯🤯🤯 That sounds like the real thing. I wanna buy one. That's so cool and it seems like it has higher thrust. I'm very much amazed to see that it has also thrust reverser.I would love to see it attached to the wing of an rc aircraft and see it fly. The propeller,the nacelle everything's looking so real. I wish I could buy one 😭.Good job man👍👍👍,Loved it

Amazing model here and it really needs to be put on some sort of model no matter what and put to good use. Also releasing the stl files would be sick👍

  • @quillmaurer6563
    @quillmaurer6563 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    So where's the rest of the super-detailed R/C 787? Based on how it was blasting the window drapes in the background, this isn't just able to spin to look cool but actually puts out some good thrust. I have little doubt two of these could push a radio control model around quite nicely, and look and sound awesome while doing so. The sound was quite impressive, just like the real thing but louder. That roar as the thrust reverser opens is spot on. An impressive project, would be a shame to stop at just the engine!
