- Making a Fully Functional Jet Engine | diy Jet Engine | Turbofan Engine
Hi Guys, in today’s video I will be showing you how to make a fully functional Jet Engine.
This Engine has all functional parts as an actual Jet Engine and works too. It wasn’t initially designed to run on fuel and was basically just a simulator which was made from metal but I wanted to give it a try by making some upgrades.
To make this jet engine work, you need to follow this video step by step to get everything right and always remember safety first 🙏🏻.

Thanks for watching 🙏🏻.
I always wait for your videos with enthusiasm. Keep going...you are amazing.
Nice
I can understand single-cylinder and four-cylinder engines, but I still don't understand the jet engine. It's really a miracle to make a jet engine.
@@RezaUpdown it's fairly simple. the first turbine pulls in air that gets compressed in a compression chamber with fuel. then the compressed fuel and air are ignited and spin the last turbine. The first and last turbine are connected by a shaft, so when the last turbine spins faster, the first one does too producing more air pressure. the more air being put into the compression chamber, the more fuel can be also. Then the process repeats. all you have to do is add more fuel, and the engine accelerates.
@@RezaUpdown i mean it has more to how it works than how i just explained it, but i explained the basics.
@@Beansyt123.00 It's like a miracle, thanks for the explanation🙏👍
I’ve been in the aviation industry for for over 32 years and worked in our engine shop amongst other bid locations and this model is really accurate and what you did to actually put fuel and fire it up is unbelievable . I going to buy this model and do what you did here , Thank you for making this video !
Same here, 27 years though, with some hangar and line maint. thrown in, years ago...lol. (Delta)
This is pretty cool indeed...especially since he didn't have a 'blade out' event.
This is so cool, and the balls to light $2000 worth of metal on fuel is crazy
@@mode3763 $1000 with $1000 for shipping lol
Can't wait to see the homemade private jet take its first flight!
Thoughts on some improvements.
1. Use a 1 way bearing on the starter motor so once the engine enters self ignition, it no longer spins the starter motor.
2. Connect the starter motor to an esc and receiver so you can start it without being next to it.
3. Install a valve in the fuel flow to control how fast the engine spins and use a servo to control that valve.
Now you have a RC turbofan that. Would be interesting to see if it produces enough thrust to put it in a RC airplane. To increase performance, I would get that metal fin plate machined to be as perfect as possible as well as figure out a way to add oil to the bearings to keep them from overheating. I would also build a more secure stand to hold the turbofan. Lastly, I would remake the fuel injector pipe and had more re but much smaller diameter holes and use a pip bender to get a perfect circle.
Most importantly, install a flashback arrestor valve to prevent fire from back feeding into the fuel canister.
Its not balanced, that first needs to be addressed
@@alteregold4814yeah
The compressors are shaky
He needs to expand those fittings at the end of each blade teeth or hold each of them with screws ..... then take a spin test to detect imbalance
Then do it for all other turbine blade too(that’s a lot of work)
Balancing it will make it run much smoother and with less shaking
Also it will reduce the flames coming out of the engine
without a combustion chamber it will never run by itself!
I like your honest message at the very end. I think it would help if you secure the engine to the table to stop it shaking around so much, and attach the starter motor to a sturdy stand that you can retract from a distance. Look after yourself, otherwise we're not going to get any more videos on this channel! 😱🤪
I don't think there's enough mass in the spinning metal parts to be fatal. (Famous last words)
If he removed the starter motor it would just stop ! This engine does not run or self sustain. The whole video is based on a lie! You’ll notice that he conveniently keeps it out of view in the video then tries to justify it with a very lame disclaimer!
I really can’t believe so many people actually believe him.
1000 missed calls from boeing
Ah I like me a janky plane.
The engine is not from boeing
@@MarkusPlayZThe joke is that he made a jet engine instead of traveling by commercial plane.
He meant Rolls royce
If Boeing hired a scammer like him the situation for them would be even worse...
Integza will want to see this
Integza made one before this video 💀💀💀
This man should become an engineer.
@@леонидлеонидов-х3б Well it's not exactly going to produce a ton of thrust, but, by definition, it is a turbofan engine.
He is one already, engine makers?
Maybe he is one
He already is!
He is
Now that's surprising just how accurate that is. I actually make parts for that 👍
That was a great build especially making it run 👍👌
Bro keep making jet engine day by day build a better one don’t ever stop you are amazing
I can't wait for this engine to be repaired
U turned an innocent model jet engine to a fiery beast
I cannot wait to see you finish the rest of your Pod Racer!!
12:40 He forgets to show his house explode
It actually sounds like a real airplane!
We would like to see a continuation of that please,,, do more tests
More videos like this pleeeeease! As a man i would wanna see more of this!
Perfect to make a burguer.
Very nice turbine for decoration😂

Don’t give bro ideas 😅
Your video is amazing i was looking for this exact video where they turn this model kit into a functional engine. Keep up the good work. Next time bolt the stand down so it doesn’t vibrate(also for safety).
I wanted to see this for a long time
next time, please go outside with it, secure it down and place a fan in front of it to simulate the wind. great video!!!
This is exactly what I wanted to see someone do with one of these. You're a legend❤
Good CGI effects, very cool 👍🏻
salty-ahh
Very smart 🤘😎 appreciate the detail you put in showing us how you modded the system
It's amazing how it even works, and sounds like the real thing!🎉🎉
When it was finally coming together, I swear I was excited to the bone
Great job Weldon 👏👏
11:33 if you look closely you can see the vibration issue, your turbine at the back as see when turning by hand is not spinning in the centre. This could mean either you have a bent shaft or you made the custom blade off centred
Now all you need to do is build a test cell and bolt down that stand LOL
Bro…you need to get yourself a junk turbo and a propane cylinder. Well done 👍🏽.
You created a monster
Very good. Next run should be outside and a mini test cell in case this modified now working turbofan shells out.
The plastic see tru pieces should be replaced with stainless steel thin sheet. For sure u got a hot turbofan jet engine.
Be interesting if TH-cam jet engine Guy AgentJayZ sees this video.
The screw is the king of this engine because without screw the engine will be shattered
Very cool! I want one!!!
Thanks for the video🎉🎉
tHANKS for making my ge 90 dream come true yeah finally someone does it.
Hoping someday you make the plane body. Fully remote controlled toy plane. ❤
I would put safety wire or locktite on all the screws in the engine because if any of them come loose and get sucked into the engine it will self-destruct. I would also bolt the engine stand down to a solid platform and start it with an air pump so you can be away from the engine if there is a failure. Also it's important to get a quick start. When you first start a jet engine you generate a lot of heat in the combustion can and the temperature rises rapidly. As soon at the engine starts the rpm rises and more outside air enters and cools down the combustion chamber. You should probably build a remote starter panel that has a thermocouple attached to the engine to monitor combustion temperatures during start up and when running. I would also have an exhaust nozzle on the rear of the engine to contain the exhaust flames. Jet engines are dangerous machines and you don't want to be close to them if something goes wrong.
Well tryed bro ❤️ keep it up 👍
This an engineering marvel.
Boeing was this guy main inspiration.
Why isn’t this getting more views? You deserve more!
Really cool video! Is it possible to power a generator with something like this?
somene finally did it!!
No they didn't. You can tell at the end that sound and effects were added to make it seem self sustaining. There's no way that design (at that scale) would have enough compression/combustion area needed for a self sustaining burn. Small model RC jet engines only work because nearly the entire thing is a combustion chamber.
Dude I wanna build this, tysm I actually have wanted to make a jet engine that’s relatively large. Do you think this will work with kerosene?
Also how much thrust?
@@Randies_Scary_Stories for a homemade one you should be focusing more on constructing and maintaining full cycle rather than thrust, not because homemade is bad but rather "you should know rules before breaking them"
Same here, but I'd probably stick to using a gas fuel like butane or propane, purely because it's easier to throttle it and a lot quicker to cut the fuel off to shut it down.
With kerosene, you've got a lot more issues because you need to feed it in under high pressure so it can vapourise at a specific rate, which is a lot of work.
It doesn't help that the length of the flame can in this model engine is already quite short, so not much margin for error. It'd take a better brain than mine to work it all out.
If you're determined to go with a liquid fuel, you may have more success with zippo lighter fluid because it burns a hell of a lot faster and more easily than kerosene.
I did have one idea that may be useful, make a bypass air tube from the compressor stage and route it through an R/C engine carburettor, then back into the flame can.
That would give you a simple way to control fuel delivery according to whatever the compressor stage air pressure is, while giving you an instant-off ability to shut it down safely.
Bro, it's such as real that he had to grab it 😂
lol that engine bout to go
Sealed bearings would have helped. Very good at a self sustaining turbofan engine.
Okay, I genuinely want to get one of these model engines and turn it into a functional one, now that I know that it can be done.
There's 3d-printing companies that can make parts to replace the _model_ fuel delivery manifold into a fully functioning one, plus with some better bearings, gaskets, turbine blades etc.
Might be an awesome project...."Hey, that's a cool model on your shelf there." "uh...model?...my dude..that actually works." 😁
Someone finally did it!
Lockheed wants to know your location
Can you make rc plane with this jet engine ❤❤❤
You should run this engine again. Maybe covering the bypass section with some form of resistant material in form of engine cowling. But even if you cant do that, you should definitely run this engine again on a fixed platform.
Don’t forget your lock wire. We would like to keep seeing your uploads lol
Bhai 4rabet pe bonuses ka maza hi alag hai, har time kuch na kuch naya milta hai
Self-destruct mode engaged.
Good thing that you shut it off. The rattle and loose tolerance of the original motor is the warning sign.
Did you calibrate your torque wrench before work and again after lunch ? A guy at Rolls Royce told me 😉 cool engine, i especially like the spiral whizzer bit 😎
I'm still subscribed
Does it actually produce thrust?
looks like something out of Armored core 6
I have a question. Would it be possible to throttle this engine once it’s running?
I couldnt help but laugh to myself as the engine ignited and started shaking the camera. just the thought of someone making their own jet engine and upon ignition it being super powerful is super funny to me.
Czy rozpędzenie turbiny pistoletem na sprężone powietrze też oddało by taki piękny dźwięk?
I ask a lot to make a channel like this, but they don't accept it in Sri Lanka. I also want to make a TH-cam channel like this. I get a lot of knowledge from your channel. I watched all your videos, it's great.❤❤🎉🎉😢😢
Looks like a Rolls Royce Engine.
There goes the insurance on the house when it burns down
I felt like your house prepare to take off
It looks a bit A.I to me. If not than keep up this good work. That engine is a jewel. It can outperform easy radial compressor rc jet engines. This is the holy grail where we all have been waiting for. A fully multiple stage axial compressor and turbine engine with a turbofan at the front. Its a 3 spool engine. 1 low pressure compressor. 2 high pressure compressor. 3 turbofan. 3 shafts with is own turbine or multiple turbines that running on its own ideal speed. Complex but very efficiënt and powerful. It needs ceramic hybrid bearings and balancing.

Did it produce any thrust?
How did the model withstand the pressure and heat? Have you checked the inside after this? I would also like to try this but the model is so expensive that I wouldn't want to pay all the money to have it trashed because of this...
It doesn't. If you look up some sites here where they make real jet engines, you will see gap tolerances are much smaller and the temperature rises up to 700 - 800 degrees Celsius. All with rpm 30k to 80k. This thing here was never self sustaining, nor it would withstand such high rpm, nor the temperatures. It would fly apart at those rpm and the materials would melt. Just a little bit flames from the gas bottle. Not a running engine
@@paulpaulsen7777 Thanks for the clarification. I also later concluded it's fake and you can even hear that the jet engine sounds are edited in. Such a scam....
It is an actual flame room heater and I think the blades would spin there is just no thrust.
Very nice
So good
Would you consider selling the custom made rotor you made?
They're quite easy to make out of sheet steel and a printed paper template. Tools necessary are metal shears, pliers, and a drill for the holes. Just bend the blades by hand or, if you want to make it more accurate and repeatable and you happen to have a CNC machine, make molds out of wood and press it into shape using a hydraulic press or a vise. Same thing if you have a 3d printer, but you can't use as thick steel and it is more prone to breaking. You can improve that by using progressive molds but it takes some trial and error to figure out. At the very least some research on TH-cam.
you need to balance the rotors and any moving part
Loctite red _ on those metal on metal screws???
4ra pe special promotions dekhne ko milte hain, festival time pe full on dhamaka
Err.only slightly dangerous:
1) the spinning parts need to be balanced so they don't vibrate, come lose and end up detonating like a grenade
2) the bearings need an oil feed to keep cool and maintain lubrication.
Have you tried it with the tailpipe on yet ?
Did it really self-sustain???😮
with fuel injection, technically, yes.
Call it crazy or reckless, but he did what every one of us has wanted to do at some point in life. Now I vote you try out nitrous injection on a chainsaw
i watch another guy who made a working rc car that runs on a mini v8 build this and always wondered if it was possible to turn it into an actual jet engine..and now here we are
It is a jet shaped engine and it spins but probably only has 0.3 HP as it only good to shoot fire out the back while it spins the blades. As he said run time is in minutes before destruction as it was an expensive toy model converted to burn fuel.
Good pnp project
Next time, make a more stable version, more likely high temperature optimized, so that it can run on self sustaining cycle
So if you replace all the parts exposed to heat with 3d printed Inconel or titanium you will be good to go.
I'm getting one 👍🏿
