I have been looking all over for someone to clearly demonstrate that contact cleaner actually works. Your use of a multimeter was simple and brilliant. Thank you so much. I will subscribe. Kontakt 60 was on my shortlist - now I have seen it work, it seems like the best choice.
Your video is the only TH-cam video that has most of its focus on switches - most others focus on restoring potentiometers. Your video is THE ONLY ONE I have come across that SHOWS the improvement in conductivity by using a resistance meter (Ohmmeter). My actual issue is loss in conductivity between a fuse in a car fuse box - basically the same as two switch surfaces. (ANY resistance in there and the fuel pump will fail to pump fuel at any odd moment.) Nobody has a video about dirty fuses and fuse sockets in a car. But from all the videos I have watched, I'm going to stick to pure contact cleaners over those that include even a slight amount of lubricant - so I will go with "CRC QD Electronic Cleaner" over any of the DeoxIT cleaners. I just wish I had the ability of measuring resistance as you demonstrated - that would be perfect! However my van has tiny sub-miniature fuses. No possibility of inserting a probe in there.
I've used the same contact cleaner for tesla charger contacts cleaning - worked like a charm! Previously was disconnecting randomly and delivering lower charging kw. Also cleaned the Chademo adapter for tesla is it was showing Charging adapter issue. Thanks for the vid
Great demonstration skills! When after spraying contacts with the cleaner and letting it sit. Do you wipe off the cleaner or it dries out? Also what multi meter do you use?
Hi. Very informative. I see you're from SA so you might be able to help. I bought a product called Imoto electro cleaner and I heard its made in SA but I can't find any info about it and specifically how to use and Not use it. C Do you know anything about it? The can mentions it can be used on just about anything electric and electrconic but doesn't mention what it contains. I'm scare I'm might break something in the process. I wanted to use it as a replacement for isopropyl alcohol as its hard to find it where I live.
I got a second hand mixer from auctions. It works, but there is some crackling when I move some faders. I ordered a contact cleaner, will try this when it arrives. I am not sure how I can reach the potentiometer of the faders, I hope it is not difficult to access.
Related question - what is the best way to avoid future oxidation once you have rehabilitated contact points?, especially in rough environments like damp air with saltwater nearby? Especially when it comes to damaged contacts they may not have galvanization intact and can be extra vulnerable to repeat-oxidation problems. I've mostly just given contacts a thin coating of all-purpose oil (ie. wd40 type product) and it seems to help so far and wtill makes just as good contact, but I don't think that will last long term (oil drying, friction from use ect.) so I am looking for a better preventative. Dielectric silicone grease perhaps? I'm not sure. Obviously I don't want a preventative layer that is so robust that it actually lessens the contact quality.
Super video Imam jedno pitanje !! Nakon čišćenja potenciometra s sprejem contakt 60,dali je to dovoljno? Ili se može malo našpricati s wd40 ????????? Hvala
INCORRECT. After using Kontakt 60 it should be flushed with Kontakt WL, to prevent your electronics be eaten away in the long run. Finally, apply a little Kontakt 61 to protect and lube. If you want to use only 1 spray then try the all-in-one Kontakt 60 PLUS.
@@suluturnip Lots of videos on youtube. Usually cleaning with Q-tip/ dipping the pot in IPA helps clean the debris. Expensive option -Deoxit F5 , elcheapo option motorbike engine oil
BE CAREFUL!!! This is NOT the whole story. You will ruin your pots if you use Kontakt 60 without cleaning it with a specific spray cleaner. Better NEVER use Kontakt 60 for this purpose. This video is highly misleading!

this awesome video is very underrated! Excellent explanations. More people should know about this

Who else just bought a contact cleaner for 1 job and dont know what else to do with it😂😂
about the to have the problem lol
*raises hand*
What are the options anyway? :)
If you sometimes work on a car there are plenty of connectors where this is useful.
Fixed stickdrift with it😂
Very informative, great tip and safety advice. Now i know how to use my multi relative button awesome.
Very informative sir! Much helpful!
thank you
Thanks for sharing this useful information and knowledge.
Just the information I needed! Very informative thank you!
This is useful I used a sandpaper to clean the contacts of a light switch
Thanks mate, this was helpful.
Thanks for good explanation and applications

Very helpful video. My motorcycle battery connection has this problem

Is Cyclo electronics contact cleaner any good at removing water corrosion and oxidation in general?
Will this work on a ECU contact/connector?? My car keeps cutting out and a diagnosis told me that I have a corroded ECU!?

Great to see he has amazing response time 😂
Keep your switch on and weld the contact together😁
Im having a problem with sound on a digital piano should I spray everything
very informative video, thanks.

does it work for wrist watch mechanism that was leaked with battery?
Can I use this to my computer specially the cpu socket since I dont want to brush it
Hi. Thanks for the video.
Do you have to wait for the contact cleaner to dry before using the electrical switches?
thanks, no you dont need to wait.
🤨
Thank you very much.
after spraying the contact cleaner and wait for a few seconds, do I need to wipe it dry?
no
May i buy one
Anybody now where is US to get kontakt60?
At 1:23 you show the leads resistance to be 1.23 (as you say comma), and after the contact cleaner Through a switch the total resistance is 0.33 ohms
i zero the measurement on the meter to remove the lead resistance.
Funny as he left the batteries in the device while cleaning those buttons, which means it probably had power.

contact cleaner is good for switches but not for carbon potentiometer , it will eventually damage the carbon tracks
