I love her look of disbelief as she turns with tears in her eyes and realizes what he’s just done for her. A powerful moment of wordless acting by the great Debbie Reynolds.
I love, love, love this movie. The majority of the comedies and musicals written back then were fantastic. Debbie Reynolds was so cool and Gene Kelly was so handsome. I could watch Gene and Donald O’Connor all day long. They were awesome together. I think I agree with what people have said, “They don’t make movies like this anymore”. 🥰🥰🥰
"I'll see you at the Movies." Long live Kathy Selden (#DebbieReynolds ) and Don Lockwood (#GeneKelly). Debbie Reynolds April 1, 1932 - December 28, 2016
Descanse em paz, Debbie Reynolds. Obrigado por tanta beleza, elegância e graça. Que você esteja com sua filha querida, Carrie Fisher, e que tenham uma nova jornada no mundo do Eterno.
ElectricShark , you should try to find the first few seasons of the classic TV show, MAKE ROOM FOR DADDY, as Jean Hagen played the first "Mrs. Williams" to Danny Thomas's "Danny Williams." :)
In the original ending, they show another film premiere starring the newly married Don and Kathy. Cosmo rocks up to the premiere - now married to Lina Lamont!!!! Mind blown Edit: I'm SURE I read this or heard this somewhere but I can't find anything online. Maybe I imagined it 😞
My daughter is playing Kathy in the School Musical. She and the girl playing Lena are forcing the boys playing Cosmo and Don to watch the movie. By the time this show is done I will have learned every song through osmosis from listening to her, especially "Good Morning." The other night they stayed up till 1:30 because it was the 23/24 of March. At 1:30 they decided to snapchat each other.
who knows? for a few songs in the movie, Debbie's singing voice is actually dubbed by another singer (so Debbie, the actress who plays Kathy, is actually lip singing in real life).
They wanted to give Kathy the credit and career she deserved, and they wanted to get rid of Lina in a way where she couldn't sue the studio. Once Lina found out about Kathy singing for her, (it was only supposed to be for the one movie,) Lina insisted Kathy keep being her voice and doing nothing else. Lina told the head of the studio that according to her contract, she could sue the studio if they printed anything unflattering about her; such as the fact that she needed to have her voice dubbed. By opening the curtain during the live performance, the guys were able to give Kathy the her due credit, get horrible Lina out of the way, and not get sued.
Guys I know Lina was kind of a b***h, but let’s break it down here: Lina Lamont, a girl who looks good enough, but not good enough when it comes to speaking. A random girl comes along and steals her job because it came to the point where she just wasn’t good enough anymore. Of course she would be pretty upset! Her career just got stolen! If you think about it, she looks good enough but doesn’t SOUND good ENOUGH. A girl being used just because she looks good. And she never gets her happy ending 😓😓😓😓😓😂😂😂😂💖💕💞
Did she have a right to be upset? Yes. But she was a b***h from the start, no "kind of" about it, even before Kathy was on the scene. Rude to everyone, even Don in the beginning! I get her being upset about her career being over, but many silent film stars went through it in real life. She was a terrible person who deserved what she got!
yes, probably MGM's best musical, although The Bandwagon and American in Paris come close. never liked O'Connor in this movie. Van Johnson just might have been better. think about it.
Haha, I love it when Cosmo starts singing in Kathy's place, rock on Cosmo, you're the best character in the film!
RIP Gene Kelly and now Debbie Reynolds. Now you can sing in the rain together in heaven!
Mike Weber amen man
Pretty sure Debbie doesn’t want to have anything at all to do with Gene.
@@SometimesMyself why? 😱
@@TheTonyEntertainment Apparently he treated her atrociously on set and would publicly berate her.
I love her look of disbelief as she turns with tears in her eyes and realizes what he’s just done for her. A powerful moment of wordless acting by the great Debbie Reynolds.
I love the old movies especially Singin In the Rain.

As much as I loved this iconic film (and to this day I still do) i sometimes wonder whatever happened to lina after she ran off the stage?
So do I.
Lol who cares, she was a bitch anyway.
Gggmanlives too true, too true but still
thesnakeman8006 she was probably as embarrassed as Kathy was
+thesnakeman8006 Sounds like she disappeared forever out of embarrassment.
I guess the audience wasn't suspicious that Mrs Lemont was speaking to the curtain?Laugh out loud
It's a movie.
Haha i always thought the same thing 😁
She wasn't talking too loudly and they couldn't hear what was being said.
She wasn’t, Kathy was whispering to her from behind the curtain, which wouldn’t be audible to anybody else. That’s why they need microphones
Dammit, I LOVE THIS SCENE!!!!!! Seen it a bajillion times and I still melt like butter..........
One of my FAVORITE movies of all time. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Gene Kelly and Debby Reynolds
I love, love, love this movie. The majority of the comedies and musicals written back then were fantastic. Debbie Reynolds was so cool and Gene Kelly was so handsome. She was so beautiful
That tilted head at "gleaming beaming"🥺, and his frozen hands🥺. just show how frozen the person in love is.

I Love Old Movies And Old Musicals
one of my favorite movies .
So amazing! Gene's so romantic in this movie! I swoon every time! *swoons*
One of my favorite films. Thanks for posting this clip!
This is actually E flat major, not A flat major. That one part always drove me crazy. But what a musical--rest in peace, Debbie Reynolds. We miss you!
Meredith Anne she said e flat it was her accent. I used to wonder the same thing actually
Its actually D# which this key makes me think of the color sea blue😁
First thing I checked when she said Ab. I thought "my piano can't be SO out of tune!! :hahaha "
I also saw this in a film class and I absolutely love this scene
ALLSTARVIDEOS you know this film made an impact when people like us are still watching this in classes where we learn about this field, in the 2010’s.
Though the shortened version, this is the best "Singin' in the Rain" version. This is definitely the right musical key to play that song :) :)
R.I.P Debbie Reynolds and Carrie fisher we will miss you oxoxoxox
Gene ❤️❤️😍😍
I stand corrected. RIP debbie reynolds
I love happy endings
Descanse em paz, Debbie Reynolds. Obrigado por tanta beleza, elegância e graça. Que você esteja com sua filha querida, Carrie Fisher, e que tenham uma nova jornada no mundo do Eterno.
love this movie
The actress who played Lina was drop dead gorgeous.
Ever since I was a child, I was awestruck by her beauty.

i love this scene as much as i love the song and actually the whole movie...
Now Lina should have been arrested for false publicity and trying to go and then ruin indeed just Kathy's career too.
Singin' in the Raaaаin mоvie heeere => twitter.com/0a89ee055942d579a/status/795842139158507521 Singin In The Rain Final Scene
the real ironic thing with all this it was Jean Hagen who was actually singing there lol
RIP Debbie
They don’t make movies or movie endings like this anymore
I know , one of my favorite musicals & I love the ending also
In the original ending, they show another film premiere starring the newly married Don and Kathy. Cosmo rocks up to the premiere - now married to Lina Lamont!!!! Mind blown
Edit: I'm SURE I read this or heard this somewhere but I can't find anything online. Maybe I imagined it 😞
You mean there's another ending to the movie?
Where is there any info about this?
Cosmo would *never* marry Lina.
Gene kelly❤️❤️
Debbie Reynolds was a beautiful woman at this time!
Filim de dragoste iubire Alaoui America ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏👏😭😭😭👍👍

あーー、良い
i love this one more thane gene kelly`s version... it`s just funnier... :-D
It is the real voice of LINA. The actress playing Lina owns LINAs prettend voice.
Cosmo looks like David Cone.
Why did they pull the curtains up????

I wanna see the outtake where Fred french kisses Debbie. That would be hilarious.
Debbie Reynolds is still alive and well.
Becky Kennedy not anymore 😔
