They showed us this movie for our intro to film class, because it’s a really interesting study in film history being told in film that is now history to us. This line had the entire class weeping with laughter. Amazing delivery!
This is one of the best scenes in film history. I laugh so hard every time at the end. Except they cut the scene off right before you see the director’s exasperated face.
We'll think about what was going on, it's 1927 and "talking pictures" is completely new technology. Also, keep in mind that the the movie industry was still pretty much in its childhood. They were learning on the fly
my DM for Dungeon and Dragons has a problem with leaning away from the microphone and also rocking back and forth when things get exciting, and I had to shame them today by link this video and saying "talk into the bush!"
If it had gone on long enough... "Okay Lina. We put the mic in your skull. So just think your lines and the cable should pick them up." Back in the booth _crickets_ "What's going on?" "She can't think!"
As Hollywood has a problem transitioning from silent to sound I see this kind of today as people see AI it can be a tool, but how it takes over and effects the way of production is done how it can mess with different aspects of filmmaking. It’s really about the people that can adapt.
It sounds to me like he’s been explaining it a few times though based the fact that after the first failed recording that we see the director says “don’t you remember? there’s a microphone right there in the bush. You have to talk into it.” That probably means this isn’t his first time he’s had to explain this. People may not get too mad about it the first time but would likely get frustrated if they had to explain it over and over again.
“Well, I can’t make love to a BUSH!”
I love that line.
She has a point
George Bush wife was able to do it. lol

People back then had class. Modern people can make love to just about anything. The bush? Pff. Rule 34.
Me too!
“Sure. Any way it’s comfortable. But *INNNNTO THE BUSSSHHH!!!”* 🤣🤣🤣
Jean Hagan is an absolute legend, so funny as Lina. She stole the whole movie!
so underrated too. check her out in "Asphalt Jungle"
It gets me all the time when she say " Pierre you shouldn't have come.😂😂
One of the Greatest Film of All Time ... An absolute Classic
😊😊😊agreed
You bet. It’s really the best classic.
Agree. One of my favorite movies.
I don't blame that director for cracking at the end. Pretty sure it was a tough transition for almost everyone in Hollywood. 🤣
He needed a drink throughout the whole ordeal.
Bet they were glad when someone invented ADR
@@TooCooFoYouwhat’s that
Yeah lol. He needs a vacation.
Watched tonight with my children. They are usually very distracted by smartphones, but these classics are smartphoneproof!
One of the funniest scenes ever.
Agree.
Absolutely the best scene in this movie!!
This is one of the best scenes in film history. I laugh so hard every time at the end. Except they cut the scene off right before you see the director’s exasperated face.
Jean Hagen is fantastic as Lina Lamont!
My favorite in the film
"She's got talk into the mic. I can't pick it up."
That line must’ve been added in post because when the sound man "says" it and shakes his head, you can tell that his mouth isn't moving at all.
@@12classics39woah I didn’t notice!
Best movie ever 🎉
A little nervous, Don? For God's sake you're BONDING with the reptile! 😂
Amazing we can hear the clap board outside the soundproof room.
Perfect cast
I love her ❤
She's far better than the Hollywood's actresses of today
now these days actors and actresses act like there expecting a audience in a reality tv show
completely unprompted misogyny for some reason
Man, I feel so bad for that director. This is seriously frustrating for him. 😅
The last scene 😂😂😂😂😂 ever! 😅😅😅😅😅
The way she fell gets me everytime 😭😂
Great movie.
Signing in the rain ☔ such a wonderful film 🎥 there must be movie squeal 2 to the singing in the rain
Great Scene 😀😀😀
0:04 1:37 2:44 3:28 Quiet!!!! Roll Em!!!!
They should've make 3 or 4 microphones around the bush
My guess they had limited amounts due to every movie studio converting to sound at that time.
It's a comedy 😂
She can’t make love to those either

There's the technical aspect... But basically, I agree with @mariedewitt5033.
It's comedy!
3:42 🤣🤣🤣
Lina, talk into the mike, in the bush. Round tones. Pierre you shouldn't have come!
Как из простой сценки выжать максимум позитивных эмоций.❤
The director's talking to Lina like she has no object permanence.
Muy funny=🥰🙏🍿😃tiene mucho amor(=she is so funny
Classic
Treated like a “dumb *ss poor lady … bless her

It's 2024 and live sound guys are still having the exact same problems with speakers. Smh.
Classics movie
thankyou 🙂 x

1:09 In the BUSH
Thanks
3:41 How many millions did she ask for to accept this? It was purely rhetorical
As an A2 this made me feel so seen

were this movie to make the rounds, would people go see it at the theaters?
I feel very sorry for the director
How much longer before the director had to be ordered by his doctor to take a nice relaxing holiday on the riviera?
a minha nao funcionou eu sai e entrei mudei umonte de vezes e o meu nao foi :(
The director is nuts, isn't he?
Yep
He’s just frustrated
It was the beginning of the sound era, everyone was struggling lol
Dexter needs some serious R&R. BUT… he’s persistent.
👌 comedian
Paramount:Hey MGM Give It All Classics
MGM:Unfortunately This Is From Warner Bros Sorry Paramount :(
Warner Bros:You Gonna Cry😂😂😂
Paramount:😭😭😭😭😭
you mean Amazon
@@Al_Asadi MGM sold a lot of their classic films to WB before they were bought out by Amazon
And for the R rated version of this check out "Babylon" with Margot Robbie
