That’s a pretty good idea. I might try using some that allow more airflow though
I’ve owned both brands and arrma takes the win for me way more durable I’d take the outcast any day of the week before traxxas
Both great trucks no doubt about that, do love the look of the O8S. Its all down to personal opinion, hard to put my finger on it, but the Xmaxx has just touched a special place with us that its a now the first RC we pick up when going out and the one we all want to drive.
It may just be a confidence thing, knowing how much the O8S weights and being a metal chassis and how much we have had to upgrade on our 6s cars to send them. Plus the parts for the Xmaxx are way cheaper then the Arrma

Yep i used to hate the fact the body could pop off, but it hasn't done it to us yet. Also didn't notice Jack was one handed doing the Xmaxx body (Transmitter in other hand) vs two handed doing the O8S. Both great RC's though 👍👍

I think in stock form, Traxxas Xmaxx is better, but with m2c chassis (or radical rc bash bar) and RPM arms i think outcast is better

ouch that is a tough question, durability and fun i would say the Xmaxx, the Outcast is good but needs some upgrades, also the Xmaxx is way cheaper to fix. We always go out with the Xmaxx, the Outcast only really comes out every now and again
They're both behemoths of machines, and they're both very much worth having, but out of the box, the Xmaxx is the winner in my book. The O8s, with a few mods, would be right there with it... shoot, I like em both...

I used to have a emaxx and later a e-revo and liked the revo more due to stability.
How is the xmaxx to drive?
Love the XMaxx to drive, didnt think i would until i drove one, going fast round a corner it will topple over, but still great fun to drive and very controllable
The only issues I’ve ever had with their bodies is that they always blow off on hard landings.
That was always my concern, but thus far the stock body hasnt popped off, think its more the unbreakable ones that pop off

the bodies come off because the chassis is flexing a lot, so when it comes off you know that plastic is going to work👍

I love Arrma but the Traxxas Xmaxx is the most durable RC they have but still love the outcast 8s.
Ditto, as i said i still love the look of the O8S to death, its a stunning truck
I had a go with one and had bought one within a week had a few Arrma's and i'm sorry to say they just don't give me the fizz anymore. Shame really as i think if i hadn't tried the xmaxx i would still be itching for an outcast
The Xmaxx just has something about it, love the O8S, but the Xmaxx is the first RC in our boot / trunk now - says a lot about it and hence our verdict at the end

I have both of these beasts and upgraded a couple of my X-Maxx trucks and my O8S to big block engines. I don't jump my rigs that high (somewhere around 15ft) and for my style of bashing, the Xmaxx and Outcast have been a match in durability so far. They both have weaknesses and strengths. I will say this. The Outcast does outperform the Xmaxx during high speed turns since it's wider and can handle the faster speeds better than the Xmaxx for sure. I'm currently comparing these upgrades rigs and that's what I've experienced so far. My Outcast 8s has been way more durable than the 6S Arrmas so Arrma did a good job with it. Yeah that plastic pillow ball nut sucks. I upgraded my Outcast 8s with M2C aluminum pillow balls. No more issues with that for me.
They are both very good trucks, no question about it, and the O8S chassis is more durable than the 6s ones have been that's for sure. Agree the O8S will handle better in the corners due to its wider wheel base. The missing Pillow ball sucked, had only run the O8S 4 times prior so god only knows when it came out.

@@HardcoreRC yup. With the same kind of high jumps I destroyed my Kraton 6s stock chassis in ONE jump. I've taken many of those same jumps with the O8S with little issues. Also the 8s Arrma diffs are so much better than the 6s Arrmas. What's weird is that after upgrading the Xmaxx and Outcast 8s with bigger motors, now the Xmaxx is breaking more stuff like the A arms and bending drive shafts. I think it has to do with the harder tires. The Outcast 8s stock tires are big, durable and soft. I'm going to try them out on the xmaxx and see if I stop breaking suff so easily with the extra weight of the electronics and front aluminum hubs 🤔
@@joseCalderon1976 Interesting. Might just be that the Xmaxx is durable due to being a fair bit lighter than the O8S, now you have increased its weight its showing its limits.
As said they are both good RC's and i will likely buy a Kraton 8s as well anyways 😂😂
@@HardcoreRC The problem is that the extra horse power makes the xmaxx even a wilder beast, while the Outcast 8s is heavier, so it's easier to control . But I think those soft tires are helping out the Outcast . Like I said, I'm going to slap those soft tires on the xmaxx and see what happens 👍🤣
@@HardcoreRC As a disclaimer, I did jump the xmaxx a whole bunch of times before I landed on one front wheel and broke both upper and lower control arms plus the steering link. 🤣
Arma fanboy here , love the Mojave , notorious 6s , Kraton 6s senton.. but for 1/6 Xmaxx is the way to go..

Why would you put the optional pinion on the Outcast but not on the XMaxx and try to compare top speed? It makes you comparisons look bias.
The gearing on the Xmaxx was 19/50 which is more than the optional speed gearing - as stated in the video here: th-cam.com/video/9LR0fv068IU/w-d-xo.html no bias at all
The Out cast has higher gearing they both need to be on the same gearing to compare the two I once was a fan of arrma but switched to hobao and traxxas both well built and not over priced like arrma or remaking the same cars just exb versions means more money arrma is kinda a skam traxxas has been in the rc game from 1986 arrma started in 2004 traxxas now what there doing and the Xmax can drive on water something different
Cant really put them on the same gearing as the internal rations will still be different, did run the Xmaxx on 20/50 and it then went faster than the outcast in this video. But then could also gear of the outcast a bit more 😂😂 main thing is to get the cars that put smiles on your faces, no matter the brand. I think xmaxx will be the king of all rc cars, but apart from being the king of all rc cars... The actual king of all the rc cars in the world and from all different scale sizes from biggest 1:5 to smallest 1:64!! THE PRIMAL RAMINATOR IS THE ACTUAL KING RC TRUCK, 1:5 giant truck, and costs about 2000 to 3000 dollars OMG!!!

Love both but got the outcast just yesterday, Just went over the whole thing changing shock oil to 30wt and setting up esc.
They are both very good trucks 👍👍 check that Pillow balls, heard others have also had issues with these, dont when mine fell out as had only run it 4 times
Yes pillar not tapered you can use tephlon tape and they stay tight longer , even use silicone but tephlon tape worked for me, make sure go through diffs , I can't believe how little fluids they using , so littke you overheat the orings and they leak eventually, not just the arrma rigs either seems all horizon , im going through dbpro now.
@@paulclancy2404 Used PTFE tape on the new pillar ball nut as they dont come with the o rings !!! had truck since August as bought it on UK release, this was the one Arrma truck that was released in the UK before the USA.
Already been over the truck knowing of the QC issues at the time, mine has a lose pinion 😂😂

Oh boy all competition favors fantastic plastic , I don't see my o8s losing on any kinda track or jumping where xxmaxx is more for fun o8s geared toward racing and more for ⚙ heads jmo ..
They are both great trucks, hard for me to say exactly what it is but the Xmaxx has just hit a special spot with us and is the first car we pick up when going out and the one we all want to drive. Having choices and options is great though and everyone will have their own opinions, life would be very boring otherwise 😂😂 the good news is we all enjoy RC's 👍👍
Yes I agree , some rcs end up being special , traxxas has a few. almost as if better than expected , I felt that way about granite, even compared to my expensive arrmas , tells us they need make more rcs from plastic , most rc designs based off racing 30 yr old designs.
Alum. and plastic both bend. Wanna hazard a guess at which one doesn't spring back? Also, obviously the X-MAXX isn't going to be good as good on track, not what it's built for, but hey, it can hydroplane over dams, so I suppose it's fair to say that the AARMA is good for a more prepped surface, whereas the X-MAXX doesn't really care what's in front of it, it'll go through or over it

I raced professionally for about 4yrs I raced mostly Losi on off road tracks I won over 30 trophy's I was the 2003 dirt oval points champion at Cooper's RC in Callands VA USA. They are YT you can check out the track if you'd like I like dirt oval but off road jumps and bumps are a bit funner I'd have to say I'm subbed guys can't wait to see some more bashing and blasting 🔥👍✌️

I have had tow X-Maxx 8s and still own one, I like it alot and it looks fantastic but I also have a Outcast 8s and it's WAY more durable. I bash pretty hard, go see my videos if you want, I still have the stock chassis on my O8s and I personally think it's pretty bullitproof from factory. The A arms on the O8s are way more durable than the X-Maxx ones as well as many other plastic parts. Especially on cold weather the O8s is just more durable. Also the O8s is so more stable in the air and on the ground, for me the O8s wins hands down. I like my X-Maxx but it stays on the shelf for now
A lot of it will always be down to personal opinion. Both are great RC's. Maybe its due to our experience with the Arrma 6s range always bending chassis combined with the weight of the O8S that puts us off having the confidence to send it. What i do know is the parts for the O8S are way more than the Xmaxx and parts availability for Arrma is a joke at the moment, for example if i broke a front upper A Arm i would have to wait until February 2021 for the part. I have seen O8S/K8S A Arms break with just someone looking at them. As said though they are both great RC's and if possible everyone should have both 👍👍
Yeah, but breaking Traxxas parts are no big deal as they are cheap in comparison to AARMA. One bad landing and your aluminium chassis is toast too..
Now this a new! Usually people always say that the Xmaxx is much more durable.. I'm planning to get either the outcast 8s or xmaxx next 2 months or so
@@jeremytichai9782 did you get the x Maxx or the arrma, I been on the fence about the outcast exb or the xmaxx. I like the metal parts and better servo in the arrma but the parts aren't cheap and like he said hard to get/find.

I don't call taking the body off with one clip faster a win when it flies off a lot of the time compared to the outcast imo
Yes it does pop off, but not as much as people think, i did think it would wind me up, but as said doesnt do it that much and really not an issue, find the faff of fitting the lipos to the Outcast far more annoying to be honest
Gotta get my hands on the U.K version of thr xmaxx because the U.S version is 💩. Got 5 1/5 scale trucks and the xmaxx has been by far the most problematic. You can only wrench on it a few times before the screws won't hold properly and you driving a truck that is being held by a threat. Traxxas parts are cheap because they are cheap. The truck is a $1000 slider because not even the tires hold 2 runs, by the time you upgrade it to half decent status very little of the original is left over. In conclusion if you went an xmaxx just buy a slider on eBay, Is going to be way cheaper at the end.
Not had the issue of the screws stripping out, but then im careful not to over tighten especially with electric drivers, wheels are 💩 though as you say
X-MAXX can hydroplane. Case closed.
Pretty sure the Outcast 8s can hydroplane as well, just needs paddle tires fitted 😂
