A lot of middle age/older people still hadnt really invested much time in learning about the internet, but even that's no excuse because it wouldve been super easy to flick on Sportscenter if that was the case. Still voters who don't know the difference between Arizona and Arizona state or San Diego state and San Diego. Arizona got football votes back when they had the longest losing streak and San Diego got basketball votes when they were 3-23. Imo those are fireable. Most of the voters literally just Google scores, watch three games, and look at the previous polls and their previous votes, rather than actually considering how good or bad a team is, their players, coaches, injuries, the weather, travel, comebacks, kicker, special teams, etc. But even those idiots still vote for the right Arizona, even if they usually confuse them or don't know. Because it's easy to find the info. They're stupid but they're not negligent. Negligence is what causes loss of ballot imo

    12:47 "The good news was that...Oklahoma's ranking was not impacted in the slightest bit." Now it's your turn to do some research. Oklahoma was only 5 points behind #15 Auburn. As long as he put Oklahoma at #18 (which was likely), then Oklahoma would move up to #15 overall. Not a long term issue, but the rankings would have changed.

    Personally I don’t think UNC deserves a ranking. They lost to Notre dame, had close games against Georgia state, app state, and florida A&M. Their strength of schedule does not compare to the other division of the ACC at all, as well.

  • @CyberchaoX
    @CyberchaoX 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Not ranking North Carolina wasn't _that_ indefensible. Their best win was Duke, and Notre Dame was considered a mediocre loss, with the Irish above .500 at 5-3, but possessing two bad losses in Marshall and Stanford and no other quality wins.
    At 8-1 and after Notre Dame dealt Clemson their first loss, yeah, that's an egregious omission, even though the Tar Heels' 8th win wasn't anything special, only narrowly beating a 3-5 Virginia. But at only 7-1 and still having yet to play either of their cross-division games in a year where all of the other good teams in the ACC are in the opposite division from UNC, their schedule was weak enough that it's not a massive omission.

    I do agree that the AP polls don't make a lot of sense at the time. Most of the time, in the early 2010s, the 4 big colleges would be in the top 4, that being Alabama, Clemson, Northern Dame, and ohio state or LSU. Whenever they lose, they get knocked down by like 1.

    What about 1997 when Peyton Manning semi stood up as they announced Charles Woodson as the Heisman trophy winner. I'm sure Manning thought some day they would probably rename the trophy after his family.
    Philip Fulmer dropped Michigan to #4 in his final coaches poll because he was so upset about Manning losing.
    For those that want to argue Nebraska was better its irrelevant as this was the 1st time in history that the #1 team in both polls won their bowl game and got dropped in either poll.

    • @jbrock8596
      @jbrock8596 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not irrelevant. Nebraska would have mopped the floor with Michigan. That whole travesty hastened the start of the BCS era because a few ignorant clods that for whatever clueless reason voted for Michigan at #1 could no longer be trusted with their ballots.

      @Florida. I'm only responding to your first paragraph. I can't attest to paragraph 2, and paragraph 3 I agree with you. Anyway, I know for a fact from Peyton Manning's own mouth that the finalists are told who the winner is ahead of the actual ceremony/presentation.

    The ONLY ballot that counts for anything is the LAST one cast. all the rest are window dressing with no value whatso ever. ANd the people choosing the teams for the playoffs, which they get wrong almost every year, and ALL years when two teams from one conference gets in. No exuse ever to have two teams from one conference when choosing lees teams than there are conferences. Cnference winners first, then, if spots open, then go for the first losers.

      What? TCU beat 4 ranked teams in a row, 5 ranked teams total. They had beaten Colorado by 25, (Tarleton by 42) and Oklahoma by 31 points. Beating ranked teams, especially higher ranked teams, seems like big wins.

    This reminds me of when everyone was pushing for 2014 TCU to pass Ohio State when Baylor beat TCU and had the same record as them. If you don't think Ohio State deserved to be in the playoff fine, but if it's not Baylor that should have replaced them you have no argument.
