I don't think the guy was that sketchy at all, the car obviously has some history that the previous owner has clearly neglected to inform him about (paint etc) mileage seems plausible given lockdown. Only thing bothering me is the state of the car, Give it a clean! literally would have taken him 2 seconds to throw some water over it and that would have done the majority of the work.
some dodgy sellers leave them dirty and say its used all the time it takes your eye off the dodgy paint work and makes you think it's a reliable car

I thought mileage discrepancies only flagged on cars if the car had mileage recordered to indicate it had been lowered after a previous recording? Doing little to no miles between mot's is pretty common on weekend cars or bikes.

Well done calvin for geting the deal at that price and the seller sounds like a genuine block he had the car for 6 months had his fun. You dont always make money on cars part of life.

This lad is selling his car minus 2k trade price which is reflective of the condition and still a bargain. You will not find a cat s for that price, let alone one thats hpi clear, and its a facelift!

We had some of the strictest lockdowns in Scotland and if that car was in Glasgow it could of just sat about during COVID. My Audi S3 didn't turn a wheel the full time as I was made to work from home for the full duration so no driving to work at all, and the shopping and that was done in the Mrs X5..
Can vouch for this, being from outside Glasgow it was tough. My car hardly turned a wheel either, I didn't work from home instead i was furloughed
I worked in leith Edinburgh through lockdown and can say I was all over driving in my car or van up and down from lancashire

Unfortunately unlike us folk on furlough or made to work from home we didn't have a valid reason to just drive about and would be fined if caught out and about for no valid work reason. Our cars didn't move other than going to the shop for essential food that was the rules imposed on us as Scottish residents. The lads that worked in my bases had to get official company letters to state they could be driving to and from work should they be stopped by the police. The SNP wanted to 1 up everything the Tory government was doing in the rest of the UK it was a total nightmare for folk.

I had a BMW sport M2 2018 plate and it basically sat still all the way through lockdown (I worked full remote during that time), 2 years it quite literally done nothing lol.
Is there not a way with Ista you can check the mileage on all the different modules in the car? If a mileage blocker has been used they dont always work on all the modules so you can spot discrepancies.
Why not plug a code reader in and check the mileage? Dealership like you surely have 1 by now

Maybe it just wasn’t used much! As a M135i i often stick all the miles on my 320D, he seemed honest and face value is all you can take people on! Most cars have had paint at some point, just depends why lol could of been caught with a trolley or a lorry! Good content as usual and shows why checks are important pre purchase and k owing your post purchase rights!

I’ve got a 330i e92 and during covid the car didn’t move so hardly any mileage for over a year I guess that’s common for most cars

I had a similar issue but with a dealer when i bought my rangie, cost him 8k to get the car right and in the condition it was sold as. I did a car vertical check to. Auto trader was super helpful with advice when i contacted them for the last listing. Just goes to show you can do your checks and still be cought out. Luckily enough i took it in for a fresh mot the day after buying it just to be safe and well thays where the dealer lost 8k and took a big loss on the car

I’m no car expert but you said the car has had paint….well surely that could be why the mileage is like it is?? If the car got damaged just before lockdown it could of sat for a while?? Like I said I’m no expert….and it’s not saying it was 40000 miles one year and nx year it’s saying it’s done 30000 miles….it’s saying the mileage stood still or was low for a year or so?? Alot of cars would have a flat period on their mileage through COVID lock down. My car in storage only does about 200 miles a year.

You clock through the ECU, totally impossible to see if done correctly.

Yes you’re covered if anything comes up when buying a retail vehicle from a dealership but there’s no harm doing your own checks for extra peace of mind

i was about to buy some style 32,s x5 for my E38 in Accrington cash I set off then the guy texted me a different post code it came up as some rail way arches miles out off Accrington ,i binned it then the add went and his number went off Facebook market place . .
I'm unsure with the story about the outstanding finance. The seller probably paid it off, and the HPi wasn't updated by the time our guy did his check. When he checked again, it had updated and now showing as paid off?

@@danmoney9932 You would think that from a simple rear quarter spray? Tell me Dan, if you have a scratch on the rear quarter that you can feel with your nail, do you think they just spray the scratch? Or do you think they need to spray the whole quarter?
@@icelolly4277 it's a while since I watched the video but I thought it was inferred the entire rear quarter panel had been replaced?. On a cheap 2nd hand car runabout up to 5 grand car fine but on a premium used car like this no thanks.
@@danmoney9932 You can't replace a rear quarter panel. It's fixed. It's just been painted. If you have a scratch deeper than a surface scratch and beneath the lacquer, then you have to spray the whole door or panel or area to blend it in. If there was substantial damage and the part had to be filled and sprayed, then you can tell by either knocking on it and hear a dull sound as compared to knocking on regular metal, or put a magnet on the area and it won't stick because there will be filler underneath.
