Going for 1/35 scale zombie/apocalypse dioramas but there's so many things not available as a kit, like modern furniture, plates, etc. This is why I want to learn cad but at 69, it's been kicking my ass. @@diocat Been there, done that......and FAILED. Best I can do is kit wise, is furniture from the 40's-50's. However, I now have 4-5K worth of free 3d resin files and the only thing I might be interested in finding is the Old fashioned American telephone booth. And yes, I have several versions of the wall mounted pay phones. Got ice machines like you'd see outside a convivence store, dumpsters, trash cans, stoves, fridges, etc. However, todays kits kind a SUCK because the majority of them have NO interiors?! Yeah, I can scratch build what I want and even make silicone molds of 'em to cast resin parts but I'm lazy. The Stryker series of vehicles is a good example. If I can come up with cad drawings of the interiors, I can make as many parts as I want. And as to people, there are NO modern day people unless you buy resin figures. If I can make people, plan on making a bunch of spare parts like torsos, arms, legs and heads. There's also a lack of modern day vehicles as kits, which is why I started buying 1/32 diecast ones, then found out about the ones in 1/36 scale. However, they too have problems. I can add seat belts/shoulder harnesses but the seats are NOT realistic enough. I've got about a dozen VW vans where the seats are more like L shaped than the real things. And more than one (Kinsmart) is a combo of metal and plastic. Like the doors are a combo of plastic and metal and a real bitch to cut away, with me having to use them as templates to form new ones out of plastic, while also adding interior door/window handles for example. I have about 100 diorama ideas plus a couple hundred paintings for future projects. I'm going for realism and not the Mad Max look. Have 2 resin printers from Ebay over a year ago....one new, the other used. Bought the new one because it has a bigger build plate. Going on my 2nd year of having but not using them due to covid, Influenza A to start. Started 2 dioramas before I got sick and keeping it simple. One will be called you are not alone, with a woman sitting on the edge of a weed filled and cracked city fountain which will have 4 cherubs and an angel on it. The fountain was made from a modified, plastic champagne glass. She'll have her pack and rifle next to her, but her dog will be resting a paw against one of her legs, hence the title. The other is Childhood Lost where a guy is an abandoned city playground while resting on a merry go round and watching a rabbit being cooked on a spit. His dog is looking at him as in reminding him he was the one who scared up that rabbit. Built a jungle gym, 2 seater swing set and some dinosaurs as what I call horsey rides. You know, those figure with springs under them so kids can rock back and forth on 'em. Got the stuff to build my own static grass applicator, with a YT video showing me how it's done and a set of hot wire foam cutters. Nephew's into playing D&D, so will be printing a bunch of figures, monsters, etc. for him. And while I've been too sick to work on my models, keep busy writing stories that people seem to like and post 'em online. And I do a variety of stories, like Conservatives vs Liberals. In one of them, conservatives got tired of Antiva's bs with its destructive behavior, looting, etc. in Portland, Oregon. They not only hunt/kill these people but storm the mayors office and hang him and some of the other city officials from the nearest lamp posts. There's the Affected series where people got changed. Think the Hero's tv series. One was a circus dwarf but his wife died. He became a hobo and was going to commit suicide until he found out he could change any base metal into gold. Another one is about 2 guys who met when they were in elementary school. One's black, the other is Korean/American. The black can disappear into ANY show, while his brother can step into any reflection. Right now, been working on a 19 year old kid who's into cosplaying Thor when he got changed. Because of his ability to fly, he's now working at Disney's studio so the studio doesn't use green screen like it used to. He also deals with bad guys around the world which is no problem since he can move at the speed of light and zapping 'em unconscious. Thank God that I'm retired and do whatever I want.
