OK here’s the deal. This doesn’t work if you are bringing your Apple TV to like a new network (say like at a hotel’s network) and you left your “physical” remote behind! You have to put in the network information of the hotel first INTO YOUR APPLE TV, then you can pair it. BUT, you can’t do that without the “physical” remote. Apple developers did not allow your iPhone’s lremote control app” to pair it using Bluetooth (w/ 2FA - two factor authentication) INITIALLY in the iPhone or iPad! They’re using Wi-Fi to pair it initially which does not/cannot work w/ remote app. So, again you need The “physical” remote with the Apple TV hardware in order to introduce it to a new network. This video failed to mention that.
My question is, how tf did Apple make it so easy to lose? Everyone in the comments section lost theirs, Both of my sisters lost their remotes and I’m trying to get one of the Apple TV’s hooked up to their phones.

I think I saw the phone keyboard appear when you did the search function; I am interested in this so my mother can enter streaming passwords with her phone keyboard instead of the stupid pick each letter with the remote cursor thing, trying it out shortly...
Once you follow all the steps and reach the code, the code appears on my phone and not on my Apple TV. There is no keyboard option to type the code in anywhere so users are stuck with instructions to enter a code with no way of doing so. There are further instructions below the code that say " you can enter this passcode in settings > General > Remonts on your Apple TV." but there is no area to find " Remotes on your Apple TV" inside of General on the iPhone. The instructions to type in the code lead you with no place to actually type in the code. HELP please

if your regular apple tv remote controls your volume then just use the volume buttons on your phone while the remote app is open. it will change the volume on your tv/receiver (assuming, as i said, that your normal apple tv remote works for that. if it doesn't you need to set that up first.)
@@matthewgeorge6756 i had to find my original remote, get a battery for it. And use the original remote to enter the code on the apple tv settings. Not my phone settings. So basically, the idea of using a phone as a remote if you lose your remote is stupid.

I use the iPhone Apple TV remote regularly. Sometimes/randomly it gives you an option to fast forward 10 seconds, but then it disappears. How do I get that option to reappear, because it makes forwarding much easier. I have tried many different options but can’t figure out how to make the 10 second forward or back reappear.

The instructions in this video are the only options I know. I am sure there are the odd TVs that don''t work with this but I is rare. Some general trouble shooting is to restart the iPhone and Apple TV then try again, log out of your iCloud and log back in, reboot your modem.

I have 2 Apple TV’s. The one is my bedroom no longer syncs with my iPhone. When I try to connect to it (though control center apple Tv remote ) it tries to connect and then quits. It only happens with my bedroom. The one in the living room works flawlessly.

For those asking how to fix it - just turn off your iphone and turn it back on. Reconnect to TV via remote. I didn’t have to enter the code again.

Glad to help, unfortunately not all options are available with the remote app. I know volume isn’t for sure. You would have to use the tv remote.

Works for me, try restarting the iPhone and if that fails you might have to reset your network settings on the iPhone

The video you are watching should have settings around it to turn it on or off. I don’t remember any remotes having the actual button.
My problem is related. My iPhone Apple TV remote does not show one of my Apple TV’s in the bedroom. When I tap the top I see the other two Apple TV’s in my home but not the one in the bedroom
Is it connected to the same Apple ID? Also, what generation Apple TV is it?
